@@Rollie-Lund I don't blame him. Why spend so much energy to catch something fast and agile like a squirrel when you could just sleep all day and get free food. Win win
Very fast cat, and he was determined to catch that tree rat, Just would have loved to see him chow down and eat it. I just don't like squirrels, and if you've had them in your attic ( like me) you'd know exactly what I mean. Good job by a great hunter. Loved watching the Cat and mouse game here, and final victory.
Silly squirrel, it jumped away from the tree and had to swerve back to get to it. If it had jumped toward the tree and gotten into the shrubbery around the base, it might have had a chance.
This is what happens when you have an exceedingly dumb squirrel and an extremely patient but fast cat. The squirrel made a rookie mistake of jumping off the birdfeeder pole toward the flag pole. That was what doomed him. Had he instead jumped off toward the group of nearby trees, he very likely would have made it up the tree to safety. But once he had to slow down to make a turn around the flag pole, that was all it took for the cat to catch him. Cats can reach speeds nearly instantly of up to 30 mph. Squirrels just can't do that. As you see, the squirrel landed several feet away from the cat's starting point but the cat easily made up the distance due to its speed. Cat 1, Squirrel 0.
Squirrel also climbed a pole with a squirrel baffle - bad move. I feed birds but don't mind at all if squirrels eat some of it. I'm pro-squirrel. I also don't mind crows, magpies and jackdaws in my garden. I'm not species-ist.
Cat: 1 meal Squirrel: 0 lives left Squirrels can change directions much faster than cats which is their usual tactic for getting away. The squirrel jumping allowed the cat to catch up as the squirrel can't accelerate while in the air.
How the heck did the squirrel get the leverage to jump from a vertical pole while clinging to it. They they find ways to physically overcome obstacles that clearly defies physics.
Are you willing to rent your cat out? Just a week...although a week in my yard and he may come home about 15 pounds heavier! I love a story with a happy ending. I used to have a couple of hawks that flew around my neighborhood...they were great for controlling the squirrel population. Unfortunately, I haven't seen those birds for a couple of years.
I am a cat person and I know they are natural hunters. But the owners should have removed the cat from the yard when they saw that the squirrel was in danger. There was no need for that squirrel to die.
@@PeterSramka A=A; done. Blaming a cat for doing what cats do is silly. It's not that I blame the tree-rat for chewing gas grill hoses and cable lines, but I'm very happy that having cats around prevents that problem.

He’s very impressive and beautiful
That cat is my hero we have too many squirrels as it is 👍😎
We still have plenty around still.
Clever cat waits for the squirrel to bolt and primal instinct kicked in. Sucks to be the squirrel thought
Bad luck for the squirrel.

I wonder if that was a baby squirrel. The ones i see in NJ are huge by comparison.
