Some cats can be protective of their owners. When I lived alone I had a small female cat that would sleep on my bed, but always snuggled beside me. One night she sat right on top of me all night and was awake. I couldn't figure it out. I got up to see if she wanted food and she didn't, went back to bed and she continued sitting on top of me all night, awake. It turned out we'd had a prowler trying to get into the house and I believe she sat on me to protect me and kept vigil all night long. There were large men's footsteps in the flower garden all around the perimeter of the house, so it appears he had been trying each window. He had also smashed a terracotta pot by putting his foot on it, for leverage as it appeared he was trying to open the ranchslider in the lounge (sliding doors) from the top somehow. This was the only night of my cats 15 years of life, that she ever sat on me like that while I slept.
@@johnathanpearson3203 If you don't belive my completely true story then you are one cynical arsehole and thanks for ruining the vibe. Ironically you have a peace symbol up.
One of the most accurately done cat behavior videos I've seen. As a tip for cat biting, if play gets a little too aggressive, which it often will, and a bite legitimately hurts, just say ow firmly and stop playing. This is what cats do with each other. If it's too aggressive they make a pain noise and play stops. It teaches them the limits of play vs real fighting. Play can begin again fairly quickly or the cat may want a break. But this will teach your cat your limits with play biting.
@@mariab3642 That's also a thing cats do with each other. When a cat bites too hard and the other one yowls in pain and runs away, the biting cat grooms the area as an apology. The great part about that is that this means your cats understand when you follow them and pet them a bunch as an apology after you step on their paws or tail. They know you're saying sorry.
I avoid this for the most part by forming a paw with my hand when petting them especially if you're not the owner. It's harder to bite a loose fist than an open hand.
None of my cats bite much because I've learned what their limits are. I believe that's rule number one. Learn what your cat likes or dislikes. But, if they do bite, 100% say no and make a pained noise. They do get it.
I used to have a cat, and he would always give me the affectionate "love bite." I noticed that he would intentionally bite me with the back of his mouth, where he didn't have teeth so as to not hurt me. He would also vocalize when he wanted me to check out whatever he was looking at out the window, usually a bird or squirrel. One time, I heard him making a vocalization I had never heard before, it was something in between a growl, a yowl, and a meow. I went to check on him, but he was just lounging around, so I walked back. Then he started making that same strange noise again, and that's when I noticed he was sitting behind a running fan, so he was making different vocalizations into it because it made his voice sound robotic, exactly like a child would do.

My son passed away and we took in his two cats in addition to our two. His cats seem to cry and yowl a lot and I know they are missing him. It’s been less than two months. It breaks my heart but I’m so happy to have these remembrances of our son all day long. He loved these sweet guys.
He is such a lucky boy for having great parents, mine would not let my cats in.. Love is here to stay, I believe in pure human magic. I wish you all the best.
Oh my...I'm so sorry about the loss of your son. I have a some cats at my sanctuary whose original owners are in hospice or have passed away. I also had one whose owner passed and the family dumped it at a shelter! I pulled him the day the shelter was going to euthanize him. It took him months to come out of his shell...but eventually he did and lived here happily for almost 10 years. He was about 20 when he passed suddenly due to saddle thrombosis this past January. It absolutely broke my heart to lose him. His name was Elvis. He was a character. I loved him so much. Thank you for taking care of your son's kitties for him. I'm sure he is smiling down on you all.
I believe that some cats might sleep with you in attempts to make *you* feel safe and comfortable. When I was little, a family cat named Buddy was staying with my dad for a long extended time, and when I stayed over Buddy would sleep with me every single night. He’d come into my room and lay on my neck, wrapping himself around my head, purring away. He was the biggest sweetheart and lovebug of a cat I have ever met. I swear his eyes were almost always half closed.
Our cat does this too. He sleeps in my daughters bed every night. The sun hits her bed in the morning just right for him and seems to be his preferred spot.

😐🤔😄😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤣🤪🤣 Oh yeah, of course. This guy knows the truth. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I once spoke to cow and said "why do you all follow each other?" He just stared at me with a quizzical look. And from that look I learnt that they follow each other as a they are all part of gang and safety in numbers. It was a wonderfully insightful exercise. Next I'll speak to a cat. 🤣
Got me a little girl in 2019, and she grew up for around a year on the streets before we got her. We were told when we got her that she never meows or makes noise. A little under month after getting her, she was really talkative. Always followed me around and slept with me. I love this little cat.
I adopted my cat two years ago from the ‘streets’. She goes everywhere I go, sleeps with us but does not meow. She does purr louder than any cat I have ever been around.
I got a boy a few months ago. He was just around two weeks old when we got him. Dad's friends cat had a bunch of kittens including mine but he was the weakest of them all . His siblings used to bully him and he could barely get any food from them. So my dad decided to bring him home. He got used to living indoors literaly in a week or two. Somehow he has literally never done anything wrong. He got used to us so quickly. Withing a month he learned to communicate with us and point out little cat issues he seen (aka I ate all the food and I shat so much in my box it needs a cleaning again) jokes aside everytime we would put something where it usually doesn't belong he would meow until we put it back where it should be for some reason.. Also he is extremely jealous of our turtles and everytime we approach them he gets angry because he is not the only one getting the attention. Also he is afraid of other cats and everytime there is a cat outside he panics and hides. I could write a lot more about him but I gotta go
Ours never used to be chatty until her younger brother of 7 years died. Now she's really noisy and like to carry a bear around whilst meowing loudly. If you open the door she gets embarrased and drops the bear pretending she's never seen it before.
I'm happy for you both! Adult cats almost never meow at one another. It's kitten vocalization, a way to get attention from mom when hungry or scared or lost. Meowing is for our benefit, since we assume a caretaker role and don't respond as readily to body language.
One thing I've noticed that they didn't mention. Cats knead excessively if taken too early from their mother. I had a litter of 5 whose mom was hit by a car. I had to bottle feed them & they all grew up to knead excessively.
😍 Omg, that was such a cute comment! 🫠 Made me think of that one episode of “9 Lives” cat food commercial. Where Morris’s mommy winds up a toy mouse, puts it on the floor, and lets it go in front of him as she says “Look Morris.. Look what mommy got!” Morris just gives her the stink-eye, and says “Cute. Take it outside and play with it”. Hope you have a great week! Love, from Las Vegas!
My first cat I ever had lived to the ripe old age of 20, outlived our two dogs we had at the time and absolutely hated everything with a pulse that didn’t live at our house. She never bit us or fought other pets, only strays that overstayed their welcome. She passed away peacefully in the night in her favorite monopoly board game box and was buried with it in a small pinewood box

I hope you have since adopted. No cat could, nor should they, replace another…but another will love you more than you could ever know. Let not your love go to waste.
I adopted a 13yr old cat who was locked in a cattery, underweight and loosing his fur. He obviously was missing his old owner terribly. After being home every night for months and months with him, I went camping, for one night. When I arrived home he was all over me and I could see he spent the night sleeping on my pillow. 🤣 Installing a cat door also made him very happy... He goes in and out all day and night. He also helped me heal my mind and heal my emotions. His heavy purring goes right through my body and makes me feel amazing. Today he is a big chunky happy cat and I am mentally and physically so much better than I ever was. Cats can change your life and make you a better human being. I have had to earn his purring and his healing powers.... by showing him love, compassion, affection, Care and food. If I ignore him, he doesn't forget....he ignores me right back! Cats are not slaves. They are Godlike.✨ They are medicine.
Happy just to hear this and know that you are happy and so is your cat, even though I don't know you, I'm just happy to know that love exists and there are good people.
My cat "saved" me too. Wonderful emotional support if you love them with your whole heart and meet all their physical and emotional needs. A part of healing is giving back and doing service for your animal. They are God's gift to us for sure.
It is true that my cats miss us. If they wake up from a nap & don’t hear us right away, they will cry for us to see if we’re home. Also when either my husband & I are gone for a business trip or earlier this year I was really sick & was admitted to the hospital for a week, the cats will look for the one of us that isn’t home. They’ll sleep on that side of the bed & scent mark the pillows. When I got home from the hospital, they didn’t leave my side for days.
My girl loves her window hammock spot and will stay there for extended periods of time. When I'm in the other room in bed, she comes over every once in awhile to see if I'm still there and give me love, then goes right back to her favorite spot. She's precious ❤
I had a little short-haired void who didn't care much for anyone but me. When my husband at the time was undergoing chemo and radiation, however, she laid with him all the time. As soon as he felt better, it was back to hissing at him lol

Cats are just magical, my Baby is literally my emotional support! He comes meowing at me every time I accidentally hit my toe/hurt myself or I’m feeling down and emotional, he comes gives me head buds, rubs and cuddles with me to comfort me & since we moved in with my boyfriend, he’s been doing the same with him too! I had another cat that was the same way, I miss him dearly. When people say “I don’t like cats” it’s bc Clearly they have never owned one.
In some cases cats don't like them either lol My old cat Lilly (still alive) seemed to like me best when I lived at home with my parents. She hates my mom (I think, at least I know mom hates her and can never catch her because Lilly always runs from her) and seems okay with dad.
So cat bites could mean: "I love you" "Eww, get away" "Come back I wanna play" "I love you again, let me clean you" "I am tired of you, go away." Sure this is really clear 😆
You can usually tell by the amount of pressure applied during the bite what it means. When my cat just rubs her teeth against you, that means I love you She bites with no pressure means lets play She bites with pressure means that's your warning to go away She bites with pressure and grabs at you with her paws so you can`t escape means you die now

In cats blood, there is bicarbonate that keeps blood slightly in the alkaline range, thereby supplementing the zodium bicarbonate delivers the bicarbonate for that. So, to be the superman of fat burning during endurance exercising (which most felines lack), it is a good idea to close the chain to keep the mitochondrial fat burning at optimal speed by supplementing sodium bicarbonate + beta-alanine + taurin.
Depends on the cat too, I had a black cat who would definitely have love bites, extremely enthusiastic loving that he had. Even on heads lol, he was always gentle and sweet about it. Our cream/white colored cat had some moods right there. Pet him once... Fine, pretty him twice, still fine.. Pet him a third time, growl, scratch, hiss too much and not even other warnings like eyes getting smaller or ears turning backwards. Cats are just like people, every single one has its own character
The accompanying body language is usually a clue. Arched back, flattened ears = fearful or aggressive, twitchy tail = nervous or annoyed. If not for those, then it's probably playful or grooming.
@@Tekdruid - that's usually the case but not with one of mine. Her body language is positive and she's completely relaxed until she bites out of the blue. There's no warning. I have a feral cat that has lived here in the woods for years. It took me years to gain his trust. He eventually showed up in my bed one day, he had came thru a open window. It snowed back in April, I went out the door & fell on the ice, he immediately ran to me, my husband came & helped me up. But my cat climbed into bed with me, he was licking me, head butting me. I love this. I have a rescue kitten who is about 8 months old. He gets very excited to see us when we get home and always tells me he’s hungry first thing in the morning. He loves talking to us and telling us when he wants to play or eat or even go to bed. He does also demand to be held at times and he will tell you that too. He loves playing tag and cuddling.
I think of myself as a tough ass man. But I love my cats with all my heart. Every time I sit down they compete for who going to settle on my lap first. They are all siblings and mother cat. It is such a joy watching how much they love each other and how much they love me. During the pandemic I isolated myself. They provided the company I needed. Sometimes I sit and wonder how many millions of years they have been here and evolved to this point. Even now one is trying to crawl up on my chest to bump heads with me.
My oldest cat is 17 yrs, has multiple sleeping spots in my room, yowls (from loneliness even though there's 2 others in the house), she'll run when I call her name and always seems to want to be near/on me. And she's the best cat I ever could've asked for ❤🐈
The elderly cat of my cousin leaned in for pets after perching and watching us for a while, and after a few strokes she went in for a definite "stop" bite, no skin break, just a firm pinch. I held still until she let go and gave her space- last time i saw her she was far more cuddly, though she still loved to perch and oversee things lol. knowing how to respond to a cat's signals is great because it can make them feel more comfortable and trusting of you- even if they're not your cat lol.
My cat (adopted when 8 yo) always was a talker. Then he went missing. I got him back after six weeks and, since then, he's *much* more vocal. I'd already decided he was feeling separation anxiety, so it's very nice to have it confirmed by an expert.
Thank you for a great video! When my aunt's cat had kittens on July 4th, 2005, she had 3 white kittens & 1 black one. Both my boyfriend (at the time) and I immediately knew we wanted the black one. So I told my cousin that we'd like to meet them but already had our hearts set on the black one. My cousin told me "the black kitten is kinda sped, she doesn't meow or play much with the other kittens"... Fast forward to us bringing her home, and I swear she meowed for 2 weeks straight! We named her Marley & realized very quickly that she was an absolute sweetheart that had only been acting that way because of the environment she had been in. (That's a whole nother long story, but basically she had been kept in a small room with 7 other cats before we brought her home.) Marley ended up being one of the very best things to ever happen to me. She gave me nearly 18 years of the purest love, the bestest hugs & snuggles, the loudest purrs, and so much fun! She just passed away 2 weeks ago 😔 Marley was impossibly sweet, and by far the most loving little angel. I miss her. I miss hearing the sweetest meows & loudest purrs. I miss getting the most special hugs & the bestest snuggles every day. I just miss my girl.
Excessive vocalizing is definitely a sign something is wrong. I bought my cat the wrong kind of food and didn’t realize it until weeks later. Her behavior completely changed! She’d lurk around her food area, run into the kitchen whenever I would and meow NON-STOP. It was driving me nuts until one day in Petco, I realized I had bought the wrong Science Diet food the last time i was there. If you’re familiar with Science Diet, you know they have A LOT OF different formulations! I felt so bad. She was trying to tell me but I would’ve never figured it out unless I just happened to be in the store looking at the different foods and realized I hadn’t bought her the option for senior/indoor cats age 11 and up. Oh well lesson learned. Pay attention to your cat’s changed behavior.
My cat talks when she is playing with her toy mice. She will call to whomever is listening that she just caught her latest prey and is soon going to present it. She will start in the basement then up the stairs slowly, and finally jump in front of me and bring her gift while constantly yowling.
Yeah, can be. My childhood cat became excessively vocal, not like ever before, in her old age due to a thyroid problem. So, if your cat becomes more vocal in old age it could well be this.

The oldest (9 yrs female) is really shy, only likes our family, enjoys belly pets, never bites and she really talks w us, whether she wants food or affection she "explains" that easily. Second cat (6 yrs), is extremely fearful of outside world and not interested even looking out of windows, likes to pet but not on belly and likes to bite sometimes. As a lifelong cat lover I want to bring one thing to other cat owners' minds and that is if we walk out the front door one day and have to leave a pet shut inside, please let someone know - we could be hit by a car that day and never return. For cats especially fear of being locked in or abandoned and especially not be able to find food or water, is terrifying to them. We just need to put ourselves in their place - we all have the same needs and fears, and suffer the same also.
I adopted an older cat that came from a neglectful home. For the first several years that I had her, she would come sit on my lap and purr like crazy while I pet her. Then, she would suddenly bite me and run away. She had trust issues, she was anxious, and had a terrible stress rash on her stomach most of the time. After those first few years, when she learned to trust us, all of those behavior stopped, and the rash went away. We were very patient and gentle with her at all times. We did not get angry when she bit because we knew she was just filled with anxiety. Toward the end of her life she trusted us completely. We could bathe her, clip her nails, clean her ears, hold her like a baby, whatever. Your cat may never get to be that trusting, or like that much attention, but be patient with them. You don't know why they're anxious, but just be gentle and treat them with respect.

I can confirm that last point very much so. I’m gone for 4 days, then home for 4 days. One of my cats loves to greet me at the door and usually spends a whole day cuddled up with me.
6:32 I've read that cats also knead when they are separated from their parents too early, due to death, or just by giving the kitty to another person when they're too young (a few weeks before born). That happens because the kitten didn't have time enough to knead its mother when young, so when the cat grows up, that good feeling of kneading its mother keeps in their memory, and they keep doing that even when they're adults. I live in Japan, and here, the law only allows people to sell a kitten after being 2 months with its parents (and brothers and sisters if born together), so they won't feel that lonely after being taken to a new home. (some breeders usually prefer to keep a little longer (like 3 to 4 months) to be sure that that kitten is also free of some kind of health issues) Due to that, it's hard to see cats kneading if you bought them from dedicated breeders.
I've had cats knead regardless of age they were separated from mother. They just mimic childlike behaviour when they're feeling safe and comfortable. If they also nibble or suck on things like rugs or quilts while doing it then it may be a sign of early separation from momma cat.
@@j_me i got both of my cats from a shelter! one of them was found on the streets, he kneads a ton. the other one was not and he doesn’t know how to knead🤷🏻♀️

The other was found 1 to 2 weeks old. Raised on a bottle. She kneeds and suckles a bunch. She seems to just still need the comfort or instinct.

I have an ESA cat and people do not take it seriously. People have some weird idea that cats can’t care about humans let alone be trained to aid them during periods of stress or illness.
I've been fortunate enough to share my life with a Maine Coon cat since 2005. He does most of this stuff, it's normal for him, and I've always said when asked "because CAT." Thanks for explaining what Bandit does; love your videos.
Very informative. I've had my cat for about 2 or 3 months. She's Siamese and she talks a lot, but a whole lot more since she had 3 kittens (didn't even know she was pregnant).
My family always used to go to the mountains during Easter. Our cat would be fed and taken care of by a neighbour, who had other cats, and who was well acquainted with him and very nice. Every single time we got home, he'd had heard the specific sound of the car engine far away - lived in a valley - and gone to his "overlook" place. Then when the car pulled up the driveway, he'd come running down. Meowing and craving tons of cuddles and affection, then leading the way back up the path to our house. He was well taken care of while we were gone, however he'd always be so, so happy to see us when we got back. This is just the tip of the iceberg, but the point is that there's not a shadow of doubt anywhere in my mind that he loved us, and we loved him back.
@@midnighttheumbreon8857 It all depends on how hard they actually bite you when that happens. They do give love bites sometimes - it's a way that they know of to show that they love you. At times, my cat gives them to me even when I haven't been petting her any. 😻❣😻
My eldest cat Coco is a house cat abandoned by previous owner and after searching, no one came forward, we adopted him… he is such a dude! Whenever I see him in the morning and say “good morning, Coco!” He growls back to me in a grumpy, “can’t be bothered with this cheerfulness“ way 😂😂😂😂
I have to little boys that are feral and they have let me pet them it’s cute knowing that they are feeling comfortable with me. It’s taken a long time to gain trust.
It's been years but I remember when our female cats were in heat(we fixed them, don't worry), they loved presenting themselves to my boyfriend and only him. 😂
You know when a cat is bonded with you. Sam bonded only with me . Once l was at friends place and patted her cat 🐈 when I got home Sam smelt my hand and turned and spradied me ... Bad bad human your mine... Gross but funny 🤣
I’ve had a great time learning my 8 year old’s patterns and personality. She’s not a mute, but she only meows or chirps when she feels like it. She also hates women and the female touch but DEMANDS pets and attention from the men in the house; me, my dad, and my brother.
The females in your house can eventually help her to enjoy their pets. Start with giving her a treat every time the female sees her. If not already doing it, the female should be the one to feed the cat. When the cat is close by, don’t make a fuss, just stay still. The cat will start to see female as safe and approach out of curiosity. Read/watch videos from Jackson Galaxy to learn specifics. Good luck!
I had a white cat that could not meow! She only squeaked lol. She meowed exactly once when she was a kitten, and surprised herself so much that she fell over!
My wife and I were babysitting a cat for a week recently, and he was the only cat id ever seen roll over for belly rubs every time wed pet him. He stretch out whenever he did it, so wierd but very cute.
I had cat that if you per her belly just right she'd fall to the ground on her side and roll over to get belly rubs. We would always say, "oh no! Cloud fell down!" Or "oh Cloudy, did you fall down?" It was just a little game she played and loved the attention.
I'm convinced I taught my kitten how to kiss. Ever since he was weeks old I have been giving him non stop kisses all over his face. Now, he will climb on me and press his nose all over my face and kind of move his mouth around and purr. He's not rubbing his face on me like other cats do. I swear he's trying to give kisses!
We got my red boi George from the shelter at age 11. He's 15 now. From the very start, he has been incredibly vocal. He has no limits when it comes to attention and cuddling up, so it's likely for attention seeking, but he also manages just fine on his own. He never has an issue with us leaving, as long as we immediately cuddle with him when we're back. Precious boi.
@@rileymiller2398 Yeah my George might have some Siamese (and other races) in him, too. He is mostly European shorthair but he is HUGE compared to other shorthairs and his face is a bit narrower. We got him from a shelter so we don't know anything about his heritage. When he meows on our balcony, it echoes through the street, lmao.
I’ve had many cats over the years, but my current cat, Travis, is the least vocal cat I’ve ever owned. I can barely hear him pur and he meows like a little puss. lol. I hate it because I can’t hear him if he’s meowing for me to open the door to let him in.
I’m really impressed with your comment, if you don’t mind friendship where are you from?I’m really impressed with your comment,if you don’t mind friendship please were are you from?
The elder of my two cats has a very unusual favorite place to sit and relax: my shoulders. She's sitting there now as I type this. She's so good at it that I can walk around and go about my day with her perched there the entire time. Her mother used to do the same. They are the only two cats I've ever known that do this.
I have a cat that is around 14 now. He has always been cuddly and loving. In the past year or so, as he gets older, he had become much more clingy. He sleeps/lays on me frequently. He even sleeps on my pillow above my head and curls his body to fit me like a hat. My only issue is the claws and sometimes laying directly on my face. I can't breath. I love him so much and he is such a goober.
You shd be happy. I wish my cat (adopted in July of last ur She has bitten my hands and arms between 20 or more times. Twice deeply requiring an exam and antibiotics) . Of course I don't I'm now what her 1bub
I always knew cats liked warmth, so when my cat Layla goes to sleep on my bed, once she falls asleep, I tend to put a blanket on her to keep her warm. Respect to all cats.
We have a singing cat. EVERY night between 2230 to 0130 she sits on the footboard of the bed and tilts their head up (like a howling dog) and makes the real *long* and *really loud* singing. We know she's about to begin because just before she starts, she makes two very long loud intakes of breath then begins. She's done this every night for the past 15 years. No idea.
2:50 My dear Kitty was a feral rescued in at about 6 months. My next door neighbor (unbothered by it) even commented about Kitty's heat singing, how it would resonate through the immediate neighborhood! (She did have the spay, at about 1-1/2 years.) Her in-heat singing inspired an idea anyone with the unfixed cat, the equipment, and know-how is welcome to do: Record that mating song; run it through AutoTune (I'm told at full, even casual speech sounds sung), then add some Barry White-worthy background music!
I remember when I got my second cat we had to keep her in the basement in my bedroom unable to leave because we had to scent introduce her with our other cat. Her first night she was crying the whole night and only came by me when I offered wet food. She believed her mother and siblings were on the other side of my door. She eventually opened up sense I would pet her while she ate by me, but one weird thing is even when angered by something she never growled or hissed in her life
My Trixie also goes from rubbing her face on me to biting, probably because she wants to play Cat MMA. My older cat doesn't appreciate it when she does it to her.
I’m happy to see that my kitties feel safe and content. One of them loves my mom, and the other loves me. When the one who loves me can’t find me, they sit at closed doors and meow. If I meow back they scratch the door so I let them in. If I don’t meow, they go to a different door and meow till they find me 🥰
everything here was right on que. loved this video. we own 7 cats, and what i go through each day is amazing, so this video helped a lot. i also feed 4-5 outside cats for over one year now, they bring friends. i wait at night to see them, put out 4 huge boils of dry and wet food, plus i work at a restaurant and bring home steak, chicken and fish. they all eat very well, and it's free lol..i really loved this video, my cats do all this that you mentioned..i have not missed a day feeding them outside, waited up till 4 am for them to come ..i love cats. thanks for this.
They’re incredibly loyal animals. I still miss my Kitty who made her affection known for a little boy who took her in when I was homeless. When a Siamese loves you you know God does too
My aunt had a white cat that would come into my room every night, and she would knead on my chest for a while before sleeping next to me. I always woke up with her next to me as well
You know that lion from that movies in the circle? My cat saw it multiple times while we were watching movies and always Hisses randomly without being angry. We were worried that he had pain or something but the Doctor said he's just being silly and want to show Dominance.
I have a cat that licks and bites for a variety of reasons. I've been love bitten but she also has very firm boundaries. She loves attention but as soon as she's had enough she'll give a little nip to say, "Okay, that's enough." Then just sit on you for the company. This cat has also been blind since birth so she has no subtle body language so when she's had enough she goes right for the most obvious, "Knock it off." Signal. She's a good girl.
I grew up with 2 cats, two females, one of them was my mothers cat the other was mine, one of them was so close to my mother, nobody else, not even me and my older brother could be near her, she'd either be annoyed or just straight up walk away. (both grew up as kittens with us) My cat in the other hand, she was a lovely girl, playful, was happy with everyone, slept besides me mum, bro, me, doesn't matter, but she was my little princess, unfortunately that girl do be long gone. She had good years, so did my mothers cat (even tho, she could be a bit of a bitch, she was still everyones cat, despite her different attitude) Loved them both, y'all sleep well.
As someone with the sweetest Siamese… she is VERY chatty!!! I don’t think five minutes goes by without her meowing at me, and I can’t imagine a quiet cat now. She’s only quiet when sleeping LOL
Thanks so much for these tips, with myself having cats for over forty years which were all strays and rescues tells you a lot about these fabulous creatures. This was such an interesting video and tells people virtually all we need to know as companions to our wonderful felines.
I learned more from this pithy, yet informative video than any cat show or other videos. The graphics were so cute and the narrator held my attention. ❤❤❤
@@gamerrowedy6614 No he won't . They don't know what happened or what they're missing. All they know is that it's a bit tender back there. Usually lasts only for a day or two. I've had many cats fixed, and once the anesthesia wears off and they've had a good sleep, they're rarin' to go. (Jan Griffiths).
Cat's prefer high temperature? My cats love to sleep in AC(air conditioner) they sit outside the room until we open it and dash in as fast as possible.
Finally got a kitten to my new house. It was what I needed. He was so talkative. Every time I said something to him he would replay back. I loved it. I never thought something was wrong. After his first vaccination and treatments he was so relaxed. Then is when I realised. Woke up one morning he was sleeping on the top of the book shelves up in the wall. He wouldn’t come down and he wasn’t talking back to me no more. He wasn’t sleeping on the feet of my bad no more either. If I chilled in one room I found him sleeping on the bathroom ! Soon after the fleas were too obvious to ignore. Pest control, twice on the carpet room. Replacement of the flooring hall and twice smoke bombs all over the house now I can say we ALMOST got rid of them. For sure lesson learn when the cat is talking a lot.
A lot of what is in this article, my female cat does this with me. She will kind of a screem when she can not find me, I hear her and will call out to her where I'm at. She has started to "hmm" sound when she wants something, mostly to be feed or she will tap me on the face. Another thing is she will put her paw on my cheek or nose to say "I love you".
Thanks for more info! I've owned cats/kittens my whole life, over 70 years and you learn something new about them everyday! What makes them such fascinating creatures! Watch out though they will let you know if they get too overstimulated! I love it when they cover their faces when they sleep, sooo cute! I had a female cat years ago when I lived in NYC when I was single and she was SO LOUD when she first went into heat, I swear all of Manhattan heard her! I got her fixed so fast! lol Major cat lover because we had a beautiful calico Angora cat when I was growing up who lived to be 20 years old and she had 4 litters of kittens a year, 4 - 6 kittens per litter so that was around 24 kittens a year! We always found good homes for them and gave them away for free! Lost my two beloved 13 and a half year old cats in 2020 who had great personalities, one female gray and white Tuxedo who was a real beauty and one male, an orange and white Tabby who had beautiful orange eye liner around his eyes and was so smart, he once watched a whole half hour of Animal Planet and also loved to fetch bottle caps when he was young like a Golden Retriever and as loyal as a dog! I've also had some literary cats who also love books and stick their heads into the books while I'm reading and rub their heads against the covers as to give the books their seal of approval! You never really ever get over losing them and I also lost a beautiful orange Tabby cat to two dogs once in the woods behind our house! Someone told me that when two big dogs get together, their "wolf like instincts come out like being in a pack along with their killer instincts" since they are related to the wolf! Cats are very intelligent, sensitive souls and are also very healing which makes more reasons than one to own them and cherish them while you have them before they cross over to the "Rainbow bridge" on the Other Side waiting for you! 😇😻💗❣
It's very obvious you love and enjoy cats. It's sweet how you described some of them with little details, like mentioning the bottle caps. All cats are different, at least in my experience. I don't recall this but apparently I met a neighbor's when I was 4 and just went on and on and on about getting a cat until my parents gave in. So I've had cats my whole life. Well, since age 4. Today I have 3. They are all strays I've taken in. There's Lucky, male, solid black, 7years old, Mouse, male, silver and white fur - not gray. It's actually silver!) He's 2. Then my little girl Violet. She's about 8 months old and her fur is calico.
This was the only night of my cats 15 years of life, that she ever sat on me like that while I slept.
thats awesome, i hope your safe now and everything’s ok

One of the most accurately done cat behavior videos I've seen. As a tip for cat biting, if play gets a little too aggressive, which it often will, and a bite legitimately hurts, just say ow firmly and stop playing. This is what cats do with each other. If it's too aggressive they make a pain noise and play stops. It teaches them the limits of play vs real fighting. Play can begin again fairly quickly or the cat may want a break. But this will teach your cat your limits with play biting.
I do this with my cat. If my Ow comes off too painful, she starts licking me 🥰
@@mariab3642 That's also a thing cats do with each other.
Most people don't understand that this is the case for most (if not all) mammals, including humans
None of my cats bite much because I've learned what their limits are. I believe that's rule number one. Learn what your cat likes or dislikes. But, if they do bite, 100% say no and make a pained noise. They do get it.
It's 2 am and I don't even have a cat

Hahaha good observation
🤣🤣🤣 That's so funny! They're such goofballs at times. That's awesome!
Love nibbie !
Crazyyy cats truly the goats
While reading this i had a dejà vu moment
2:06 Sadly, in elderly cats, over-vocalizing can sometimes be a result of dementia. They're confused and afraid.
It can also be a possible indicator of deafness. They keep meowing because they can’t hear themselves.
@@TheDeceptiveHero I have a deaf cat and she's blind in her left eye. She HOWLS at 5-6 am or when I'm not home. I have a camera.

Was his loss expected at all? 😢
I'm sure he is smiling down on you all.
so sad to hear about ur son,may his soul rest in peace
I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a child is so tough.
Awwe rip

Yes so warm home feeling for me
Trueeee 😊❤
Got me a little girl in 2019, and she grew up for around a year on the streets before we got her. We were told when we got her that she never meows or makes noise. A little under month after getting her, she was really talkative. Always followed me around and slept with me. I love this little cat.
Feral cats are usually silent. Safety.
As a cat servant (not owner), I can attest that all of this is 100% true. Great video, thanks
Lol servent,so acurate
Yep spot on 👍☺️🐈
So true!
I feel your loss. My black cat named Harry also lived to be 20. I miss him 😢

Installing a cat door also made him very happy...
Much respect to you, you sound like you have a beautiful heart! Your cat is flourishing with you because of that, no doubt ✨️
They are God's gift to us for sure.
or you are just a *crazy*

True. Any fool can be loved by a dog, but the love of a cat must be earned.
Of course they miss us
Cats love you like a dog loves you but shows it differently

In some cases cats don't like them either lol
My old cat Lilly (still alive) seemed to like me best when I lived at home with my parents. She hates my mom (I think, at least I know mom hates her and can never catch her because Lilly always runs from her) and seems okay with dad.

So cat bites could mean:
"I love you"
"Eww, get away"
"Come back I wanna play"
"I love you again, let me clean you"
"I am tired of you, go away."
Sure this is really clear 😆
You can usually tell by the amount of pressure applied during the bite what it means.
When my cat just rubs her teeth against you, that means I love you
She bites with no pressure means lets play
She bites with pressure means that's your warning to go away
She bites with pressure and grabs at you with her paws so you can`t escape means you die now

Note: Inzide dah felines, when dah hydrogen atoms are clipped off the fatty acid they are waiting for oxygen to be converted to H²O during that okay? Yah, the pH level is getting more acidic. The biggest problem within deez furry tings bodies is that the enzymes for converting fatty acids into CO² and H²O in the mitochondria are zlowing down when internal environment is getting more acidic. This has been recorded a few decades ago when the research about mitochondrial function all ztarted, yah.
A study of a guy from a Skandinavien university iz highlighting that detail about taurin and the pH buffering function in the mitochondria.
2. There is also a pH buffering agent occurring in we peoples, outside of the mitochondria, but still inside the cell.....the beta-alanine boosts the intracellular pH buffer carnosine.

I spent several days in bed, he never left my side. He would only get up to eat &.go to bathroom. He knew I was hurt, his love & loyalty was stronger than most humans show. He usually stays outside, but nothing was gonna keep him away from me. My husband actually tried to pick him up to get into bed, he growled at him. He had to sleep in our extra room. He loves talking to us and telling us when he wants to play or eat or even go to bed. He does also demand to be held at times and he will tell you that too. He loves playing tag and cuddling.

Sounds like my little stalker he follows me all over ❤
The elderly cat of my cousin leaned in for pets after perching and watching us for a while, and after a few strokes she went in for a definite "stop" bite, no skin break, just a firm pinch. (That's a whole nother long story, but basically she had been kept in a small room with 7 other cats before we brought her home.)
Marley ended up being one of the very best things to ever happen to me. She gave me nearly 18 years of the purest love, the bestest hugs & snuggles, the loudest purrs, and so much fun!

I have 3 cats. We found her on the street pregnant, she had 4 babies that was with her (and us)almost a year before adoption and she is so grateful, you can see it from her behaviour. Third cat (3 yrs) is male used to be feral cat that I found in the middle of night, following me home so I took him. He was so crazy at the start, we were all afraid of him cause he was unpredictable. Now he is domestic cat, really nice, just needed some love. They are all sterilised and as we have a dog they all learn to come when we call their name, they can go out on the leash also. We found them on the streets, tried to find owners for months but was abandoned obviously, they all have chip now and we love them so much, our dog is happy to have them also.

(some breeders usually prefer to keep a little longer (like 3 to 4 months) to be sure that that kitten is also free of some kind of health issues)
Due to that, it's hard to see cats kneading if you bought them from dedicated breeders.
I've had cats knead regardless of age they were separated from mother. They just mimic childlike behaviour when they're feeling safe and comfortable. If they also nibble or suck on things like rugs or quilts while doing it then it may be a sign of early separation from momma cat.
My two cats grew up with their mother and stayed with her all their lives as we kept the three in our home, and they both kneaded a lot :)
I've heard this said about cats who suck on blankets, but pretty much all cats knead lol

I was so surprised when I went to sleep one night to my great-aunts house, and hadn't been there for years. Then this very shy and timid cat started to press her paws on my belly when I was sleeping she was also purring at the same time.

My cat only gives little meows when I get home from work, but otherwise is basically totally silent.
I’ve had a great time learning my 8 year old’s patterns and personality. She’s not a mute, but she only meows or chirps when she feels like it. She also hates women and the female touch but DEMANDS pets and attention from the men in the house; me, my dad, and my brother.
* g a s p ! * in 2022? Cancelled!
Good luck!

I always knew cats liked warmth, so when my cat Layla goes to sleep on my bed, once she falls asleep, I tend to put a blanket on her to keep her warm. Respect to all cats.
6:43 why is that cat winking? Is that a sign of happiness?
We have a singing cat. EVERY night between 2230 to 0130 she sits on the footboard of the bed and tilts their head up (like a howling dog) and makes the real *long* and *really loud* singing. We know she's about to begin because just before she starts, she makes two very long loud intakes of breath then begins. She's done this every night for the past 15 years. No idea.
Our kitten not but she purrs so loud it's louder than an average cat raging sound
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHQHWHAHAHHA
I had a Maine Coon that did this nightly but while walking the house. I miss him.

I know why they do that. It's a serious symptom in cats. The solution is to buy/adopt 3 more cats.
You're welcome. Have a splendid day.
"Why do cats knead..."
They're making brownies. Obviously.
I met a lady on a plane, once, who called that "making muffins."
I remember when I got my second cat we had to keep her in the basement in my bedroom unable to leave because we had to scent introduce her with our other cat. Her first night she was crying the whole night and only came by me when I offered wet food. She believed her mother and siblings were on the other side of my door. She eventually opened up sense I would pet her while she ate by me, but one weird thing is even when angered by something she never growled or hissed in her life
The cartoons of the smiling cats are so cute! :)
My cat Romeo has a tendency to lick and bite me, and this video really helped explain a lot! Thank you!!!
My kitty Esme will start licking me, then progress to light bites, then the bites get harder and harder lol
@@aaronwylie6928 Your kitty’s name is Esme? That’s so pretty!! 💜
@@PhoenixPrime Yes :) She is very pretty too!

I love it when kitties knead although sometimes their nails can sting a little.
Excellent video, and all true, as I've had cats most of my life, and truly understand them.
When I was a child/teen, I had a bluepoint Siamese mix who was my soulmate. We seemed to know what each other was thinking.
They’re incredibly loyal animals. I still miss my Kitty who made her affection known for a little boy who took her in when I was homeless. When a Siamese loves you you know God does too
Hey Toni how are you doing today
My kitty absolutely LOVES my giant teddy bear. Every time he sees it, he goes on it and starts kneading and purring 💚
My kitty has 4 toys he plays it so much and my cat is basically an comedian when she plays she also backflips im serious* shes an 4 month old angel
0:00 That cat is so adorable
I grew up with 2 cats, two females, one of them was my mothers cat the other was mine, one of them was so close to my mother, nobody else, not even me and my older brother could be near her, she'd either be annoyed or just straight up walk away.
(both grew up as kittens with us)
My cat in the other hand, she was a lovely girl, playful, was happy with everyone, slept besides me mum, bro, me, doesn't matter, but she was my little princess, unfortunately that girl do be long gone.
She had good years, so did my mothers cat (even tho, she could be a bit of a bitch, she was still everyones cat, despite her different attitude)
Loved them both, y'all sleep well.
As someone with the sweetest Siamese… she is VERY chatty!!! I don’t think five minutes goes by without her meowing at me, and I can’t imagine a quiet cat now. She’s only quiet when sleeping LOL
My mom and I just went to the spca today for my birthday and we ended up getting a 6w old Siamese. I can’t wait to see how chatty he gets 😂
My best friend cats use to jump on me talk to me lift their butts I miss them :( rip Mo & Pete
imagine humans smelling rear ends to greet 😅😅😅
Love these vids. Just got my boy neutered and your videos helped me ensure his comfort. Thank you.
He will be mad at you for a couple of days
@@gamerrowedy6614 No he won't . They don't know what happened or what they're missing. All they know is that it's a bit tender back there. Usually lasts only for a day or two. I've had many cats fixed, and once the anesthesia wears off and they've had a good sleep, they're rarin' to go. (Jan Griffiths).
Oh my god, you listed everything my cat does
Ikr? Who would have thought that the video actually contains what was promised in the title 😂😋
Great job. Nice voice no music. Useful info detailed and to the point. How wonderful. Thank you.
Hey how are you doing today
What’s wrong with music?
Hello, how are you doing today

Thank you for all this great info Joannie!!!

All your cats sound lovely, I hope you have a pleasant day :)
Hey Brenda how are you doing today
