  • There's definitely a lot to say about the New Balance Fresh Foam More V3. New Balance may have finally put the pieces together for a max cushion shoe that delivers on the Fresh Foam X promise. Hoka has for years been the leader in max cushion shoes and other companies were trying to catch up. New Balance is giving them a "run" for their money and taking a shot at their bread and butter. If you're looking for a max cushion running shoe that can go the distance, I believe this is one of your better options.
The shoe slides in at just under 10.9 oz or 310 grams in a men's size 9, 8.8 oz for a women's size 8. An engineered mesh upper doesn't over complicate things and gives moderately good breathability. Lock down is admirable and there are no concerns here aside from the strange tongue, that while bulky, still provides a snug and secure fit.
The star of the show is the Fresh Foam X that delivers a plush, but not over soft ride. Out of the box the shoe is responsive, though that wains as you rack up the miles. The shoe can still pick up the pace if needed, but is best suited for long, slow runs or recovery days.
The only down side I see to the shoe is the hefty price tag at $165. The price is in line with other max cushion shoes, but does not make it any easier to open the wallet.
Overall, New Balance is back in the max cushion running shoe game with the Fresh Foam X More V3 and I hope they continue to refine the shoe in future iterations.

Thanks for the 250 miles review. That pair of V3 seems to be holding up nicely. I had a pair of V2. The outsole was not rubberized and so after 250 miles, the outsole layer was pretty much gone. I stopped wearing them when the midsole was acting as the outsole 😂 I liked them. It was a comfortable shoe. Great to build volume and babying the legs. Reviews indicate many improvements from the V2 to the V3 (upper, midsole and outsole). All this to say, glad to see it's holding up nicely, the V3 is on my radar. Cheers

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, great shoe. I am excited to see what they do with future iterations. Hopefully not much 👍
