- An update to a review I posted of the Ultimate Direction Ultra Vest 5.0. The vest has continued to perform well despite some of the things I mentioned in my previous review.
I want to be sure to update everyone and keep you informed that the bottle that shipped with my vest are defective. As noted here, the bottle are made of a stiffer material than a standard soft flask, which causes them to crease at the sides. In time, these creases begin to crack and tear, causing the bottles to leak. As you can imagine this can cause big problems depending on where you are or how you are using the vest.
On a positive note, Ultimate Direction sent me new, different bottles free of charge which have performed well to date. I am satisfied with the resolution they provided.
I do not know if Ultimate Direction continues to ship the Ultra Vest 5.0 or any of their other vests with the old "body bottles." I recommend that if you are thinking of buying any of the vests in Ultimate Directions line up that you first ask to ensure they are shipping with the new bottles.

Great advice buddy! I have suffered with this issue in the past. The softer bottles do work great however without the slight angle to the top of the bottle I find that the teat of the bottle sometimes gets tucked behind the little waterproof pocket on the shoulder area of the vest. Thanks for spreading the word with the community. 😎🤘🏻
The replacement bottles they sent you are the bottles that came with my UD Race Vesta 4.0 👌🏼 Haven't had any issues with them personally. So far so good! Glad you got replacements and hope they hold up for ya.
Oh wow that's exactly what happened to me yesterday. I thought I had put the top on correctly. Once I'd drank a small amount it stopped. To be fair I've had the vest a long time. Binned the bottle now
Does the Ultimate Direction vest come with two bottles, just one or none so you need to purchase them separately ?
Isn’t this a problem because they moved away from hydrapak flasks? I’ve heard this happening a lot.
I know the previous bottles used (problem ones) were Hydrapak. When I went to fill out the warranty claim it actually took me to the hydrapak page to do so. However, UD directly were the ones that sent me the replacement. I am not sure if the knew soft flasks are hydrapak, but assume they are.
je confirme que les bouteilles livrées avec le gilet sont assez nulles, avec, en plus, le bouchon penché. J'utilise uniquement mes flaskes Oxsitis bien plus douces et solides
