NordicTrack ELITE 900 from COSTCO w/ iFit - 7" TOUCHSCREEN - Running / Walking Treadmill

  • Now that I've had it for a few weeks I am ready to give you my review and thoughts on the NordicTrack Elite 900 Treadmill from Costco. The treadmill features the following:
    - 7 inch touchscreen with iFit (interactive training)
    - 3 CHP (Horsepower) Motor
    - 20 inch X 60 inch belt
    - SpaceSaver design
    - CushionDeck for a softer landing and rebound
    - OneTouch Controls
    - 12% incline / Grade
    - 12 MPH Speed (5:00 per mile)
    - Bluetooth Connectivity
    From my experience this is a great treadmill for the casual or even serious runner. Whether you are looking to run, hike, or walk, the NordicTrack Elite 900 should fit your needs. It fits great in my home gym and am sure it would do well in any home gym
    As an ultrarunner and busy Dad, I needed something that would help me increase my mileage while escaping the elements (I live in Utah) or when life gets busy and I just can't get out the door and need something more convenient. I generally run about 50 miles per week and this has proven to be a great recovery tool for me.
    And let me tell you...iFit is so dang fun. I think for most people they think of the treadmill as the "dreadmill." To me, iFit breaks that stigma and allows training to be fund and the miles to fly by. I've done several hikes and runs primarily with Tommy Rivers #runwithrivs and found them to be very engaging, scenic, and just an absolute blast. Though the touchscreen is not super high quality or responsive it gets the job done. The touchscreen is also a little small, but to have it at all at this price point is great. NordicTrack really hit a home run with iFit.
    Now I am sure that this doesn't stack up to a Peloton or NordicTrack Incline Trainer in a lot of ways, but I don't know that it's meant to. A Peloton will run you (pun intended) several thousand dollars, while this NordicTrack is sold at Costco currently for $799.99. For that price point, I think you really get a lot.
    I will say that one recurring thing that I have heard from friends who own NordicTracks and across several social media channels is that NordicTrack's customer service (particularly during the coronavirus pandemic) has been nothing short of a nightmare. This is one reason I was so excited to find this NordicTrack at Costco. While NordicTrack has not earned my trust, Costco has and I know they will stand behind what they sell in the event of an unexpected malfunction.
    Thanks for tuning in. I hope you enjoy the video. Be sure to like, subscribe, and comment!

      Absolutely. There is also a function to use google maps to just do your own thing but view the area. Even when using iFit you can override and go your own pace. Then there is a button to rejoin the trainer (pace suggested). You could always just turn on a speed and incline you prefer. When you do this it just shows progress on a quarter mile track.

    Hi, two questions for you.... 1. I have heard others on reviews complain about the wifi constantly disconnecting and having the delay to reconnect at times before you start your run with iFit. Have you had this problem? 2. 7" screen does nothing for me, but I would like to cast it to my TV I have in front of my workout space, does the touchscreen have an option to cast it or send via apple air play?

      I try to run outside as much as possible, even in the winter, so generally plan to use this only during adverse conditions (snow storm, extreme cold, heavy rain) or when life happens (have to stay home with kids, etc.). I average 50-60 miles per week usually, with only maybe 10 or so on the treadmill itself. My longest run on the treadmill to date is 12 miles. I think it's a solid choice for someone who wants to log a lot of miles without breaking the bank.

      The easiest way that I've found is to start an iFit workout, then manually increase or decrease the volume. When you do this there will be a screen that opens that allows you to control the master volume, trainer volume, etc. At the bottom of the screen it will say "Connect to Bluetooth" or something like that. This allows you to hear the treadmill on your headphones. I don't believe the connection works the other way to where you can play music on the treadmill speakers (they aren't very good speakers anyway). I hope that helps!

    I was debating buying this. Went to Costco today but they were out of it and expecting a shipment this week. Do you know if there are better models out there in a similar price range? • @runslowtorunfast6528
      @runslowtorunfast6528  2 роки тому +2

      I think for the price it’s a great treadmill. There are certainly nicer treadmills out there, but you’ll pay for it. This is a great starter treadmill. I would say it is a bit noisy (reference video). Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend for it. For under $1000, I think it’s as good of a treadmill as you can get. Thanks for the comment. If you're wanting to get audio from the treadmill to your device (headphones), I know it can do that as I just tried it and it worked. Let me know if you want a walk through of that. Not sure if you can get audio from your device to the treadmill.
      I guess the space and difficulty to move is relative for each person. I agree that it does take up some space, but for the caliber of treadmill you want it's going to take up a sizable amount of room. Smaller cheaper treadmills take up less space, but aren't as powerful nor do they have as many features. Moving with one person can prove challenging, but I find with two people it's relatively easy. Again, all subjective.
      I don't believe you can turn the treadmill off from the screen. However, there is a grey button/switch at the front right of the machine near where the power plug comes out of in which you can turn it off without unplugging it.
      Hope the information above is helpful!

      I use the manual workout mode. I never connected WIFI and I select always "Manual Start". It will go into warm-up mode, which I just select end warm-up and then select speed and incline I want. I do not think there are any pre-loaded work-out programs, but then again I have not looked into it that hard yet. We use it mainly for walking. It's a really good machine for the price.
      Just my experience in the last 3-4 weeks that I have owned this treadmill (purchased around mid march 2021), the elite 900 that I have is now making a squeaking sound, not too loud but you can hear it, it's continuous almost like crickets but continuous. It takes about 5 minutes of use to hear it on most days, and it remains even if you step-off with the machine running, even at lowest speed. This makes me think it's either the motor, belt or the roller. Luckily it's still under warranty, once everyone in the family is "vaccinated", may be I'll call Nordictrack to see if they can fix it under warranty. I am sure they will honor their warranty.

      Yes, it does have manual controls, so you can always just set your own speed and incline 👍

      I’ve only seen them in stores not online, so I think right now that is the only option. I’ve heard that they are in several states in the Western US. They are selling out very fast though.

    Hi, do you miss having a heart rate monitor?

    • @runslowtorunfast6528
      @runslowtorunfast6528  3 роки тому +1

      Personally, I don't. I don't think those things are very accurate at all. Even on my watch, I don't trust the HR readings. I do however have a chest strap heart rate monitor and that's really the only one I trust to give me accurate readings. I run a lot (6 days/wk), so am pretty in tune with my effort level and have a pretty good gauge on how hard I'm working.

    This machine would be amazing if the software wasn’t absolutely total garbage, constant updates long, I mean go make a sandwich long load times, try to use offline in manual mode, it constantly bugs you to sign in to ifit and has errors, basically nordictrack having a baby for that your not paying monthly, I’ve spent days in which I had 20 mins to workout and had to push other things back because software issues and customer service could not be more worthless. Avoid this machine at all costs.
