Why Don't More People LOVE This Movie?? Eternals Commentary - Фільми й анімація
To me Alex is a true movie lover. Not every movie has to be a cinematic masterpiece, but Alex knows how to have a good time and find the good in the things he watches
It’s a quality more people should have!
Yeah, him and CinemaWins guy return to me my faith in humanity.
Yes agreed
Honestly I appreciate that quality in a lot of UA-camrs because I’m very critical and picky with my content and seeing people enjoying things so lighthearted and having fun makes me see also the positive things, I can get caught up in negativity sometimes 😅
@@AtmosFlags I would say salute and that I agree with this comment...but I am partially wondering if this is sarcasm honestly. But if it's not, then yes salute to that.
The sword in the end credits is the Ebony Blade. The voice at the end is Mahershala Ali, playing a character whose solo film is currently in development.
Beautifully avoiding the obvious (if you know the casting) spoiler. I love how you said that, just saying.
"looks like some knights of the round table stuff" is right tho... the Ebony Blade (of Sir Percival) is an incredibly powerful relic weapon. apparently "Mr Snow" is a decendent of the legendary Black Knight of Camelot.
@@bladestormviking not just a descendant. He very much is the Black Knight.
Was. Is there even a new script ready after the old one got scrapped?
@@kevinbell5674 they got a new writer and director, so they are still working on it.
This movie is super underrated. I like this one a lot. The movie is so different from any other in the MCU. It is visually stunning. It has an awesome cast. Cool characters and the fights are so good.
It's my Top 2 MCU, only behind Ultron
@@user-mz2ne4yh2t your top 2 is made of the two worst movies they made lmao
@@jetsssssss not when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Love and Thunder exist
Ikarus being referenced as Peter Pan is more fitting than most realized. In the original book it is heavily hinted that Peter killed the Lost Boys who didn't do as he wanted. That included them growing up
Makes sense, with Sprite being this movie's equivalent of Tinkerbell to Ikarus.
My favorite relationship is with Thena and Gilgamesh. They are just so sweet. It's rare you get a deep just friendship between a man and a woman on screen like that.
Yes. I would love to see more of this!!
I cried a lot when they killed him, because I liked the actor as well and I wanted to see him more...
Is it (The)na or (A)thena
Variants are what were in Loki. These are Deviants.
27:55 37:14 I love the relationship between Makkari & Druig. Can't wait to see them explore it further in future films.
They had a really beautiful chemistry and made me want to see more of them.
@@veronicagross7458 Will they be in the next avengers movies?
What's crazy is that after watching this movie, it proves that Thanos temporarily saved the world by preventing Tiamut from emerging, by killing off half the universe.
This probably doesn't only apply to Tiamut, he said yes that in almost every planet there is a sleeping celetial and they wake up when the population of the planet is big enough, so Tanos didn't just want to save the earth but countless planets and lives
@@jensr.3409 there aren't Celestial eggs in almost every planet. The Celestials are few in number, and their eggs remain dormant for about a million years before planetary populations reach the level necessary for a birth. So there are only maybe hundreds of eggs (at most) out there... literally a drop in the bucket compared to the loss of life Thanos caused.
@@neospock5034 but maybe he also tried to kill several birds with one stone, because the topic of overpopulation and resource exploitation is still there
And remember that Thanos is an Eternal as well (it's more complicated in the comics, but he's Eros/Harry Stiles' brother in both...), meaning he could well have known about all of this. It's a bit of a retcon, but I still like it.
When the first scenes of this film hit Kevin Feige (exec for Marvel Studios) desk, he got so excited to tell everyone that it was almost entirely shot on location. Most of the MCU movies were full of green screens and stuff. But apart from some flying scenes or wide shots, most of this film was shot in real locations using the natural lighting.
It's great how they went back in time to shoot them, too.
@@pc239 M o s t
Those places still can be real places. The wide shots can be fake but not while they shooting them on location. @@pc239
The sword in the end is called Ebony Blade. It gives kinda immortal powers to the holder. His character in the future is gonna be called Black Knight. And the voice at the end is the voice of Mahershala Ali, the actor who is gonna play Blade, which solo film is currently in development.
this
I could have sworn he said no spoilers...
The blade doesn't exactly grant immortality but more a prevention from death: its wielder can't be harmed by most other weapons and most magical attacks. But it corrupts the wielder ultimately which is something Merlin lied to generations of its wielder, true to Merlin's nature.
for me ETERNALS is a super decent origin story / movie as itself
it doesn't deserve all the criticism, i cant wait to see them again
good to look at, boring story and unsatisfying characters
@@mandeepkumarray9050It felt rushed as well, should've been a series instead
This movie did a lot of heavy lifting story wise--changed the whole back story of the MCU and had a ton of characters to develop. IMHO it did a pretty good job and looks beautiful while doing it too!
People don’t appreciate how epic the scale this movie tried to cover. Fell a bit short, but great effort
Honestly they should have waited to release this move right after Secret Wars to set up Galactus.
This movie would actually have worked perfectly as a TV series IMO. Would have given it so much more time to flesh it out and the twists and turns would have been so much better as cliffhangers every episode.
I think, with every instalment after this, it will retroactively make it better rewatch experience because of the scope. And yes, there are issues, but it is one of the few new MCU films that actually tried stuff and took risks, and that should be commended imho
I really love this movie. The only thing I would change is that I would’ve preferred it be a series so I could spend more time with all of the characters. But overall, I enjoy the movie. And I absolutely adore Druig and especially his and Makkari’s relationship.
And that to me was my biggest issue with the film. It should have been a series so that we could get more invested in the characters. Hard to introduce 10 brand new characters in a 2 hour film and to have people care enough about each of them.
They could do a prequel series still as well. That’s a possibility…
@@talondiwisch5206 I would definitely watch that
You see I disagree. I don't think we need to care about all 10. There's 4 at the centre that all get plenty of time. Then you have 2 couples that get enough time, comic relief and the diversity hire. Those 6 don't need to be central.
I think you care more abiut the events if they cut out Jon Snow's character. As that damages the emotional impact of the love triangle that is the centre of the plot and the finale. Ikaris' decision is harmed by Snow's existence which robs the finale of some of it's emotional weight.
Still over all a decent movie though IMO. Massively over hated for no reason.
Absolutely - although the scale of the movie warranted it to be the underlying storyline for the whole phase 4 instead of rushing it in one movie.
I love this movie so much. One of the most underrated movies imo. Visually it’s beautiful and I enjoyed every eternal’s character. Can’t wait to see more of them
I agree with this sentiment 100%. Such an underappreciated movie.
i agree mostly! only character i am not a fan of, is the 'Villain', and Ajak... The Villain is underused, and Ajak died BEFORE we got to know her... which i felt, made her death less important...
i agree,, there were so many more problems with a bunch of the tv shows that werent even budget related so....
@@WiF_Gaming i have a feeling that Ajak will be back, Salma Hayek said that she signed a multi-movie contract with Marvel.
Literally overhated
I think they should have done a Disney+ series to introduce the characters and then a movie to bring it all together... The biggest issue for me was that it was just too much, in not enough time
The voice at the end was Blade. He's got an upcoming movie, and it seems like they are making the "Nick Fury" of the monster side of the MCU, like Wong is for the overtly magical side.
A lot of people have been down about much of Phase 4. Eternals for me was middle of the road. Wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst either. I appreciate the positive attitude you continue to have. "The meaning of life is to give life meaning".
Small little detail you may have forgotten by now. Knowhere exists inside the head of a dead Celestial.
Yeah the kind of hate that this, Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder got from some folks tells me they have never seen actually bad movies.
Eternals was fine and the others were pretty good. None of them were amazing but not ever hit is a home run. Some are singles or doubles and that’s fine.
@@nibblitman I mean, I've seen The Room, so I think I can say what a bad movie is. Eternals was okay, Multiverse of Madness was awful, especially compared to Doctor Strange. Love and Thunder could've been good, but there was too much humour where there didn't need to be.
Folks who are saying phase 4 is not as good as past phases and a disappointment are a loud minority(on the internet for example) and what they say do not match up with what the scores are on rt for example. In real life most audience think phase 4 is the best phase(tv and movies)looking at the new recent RT SCORES for phase 4 most critics think phase 4 is the best phase so far too (combination tv shows and movies).
Now looking at cinemascores for phase 4 some of movies are in B'S so you could say on average it's the least enjoyable phase on average compared to past phases and that could be varied reasons but more folks think phase 4 is the strongest phase so far and it more liked it looking at the rt scores and comparing them to phase 3 and other mcu phases.
Most folks like eternals and has 77rt score and a 4.0 average rating on rt.

I'm sick of all this fan fiction surrounding phase 4. It took 14 years for Marvel fans to become just as nitpicky, entitled, and unsatisfiable as Star Wars fans lol I get it You didn't like some of the content, You don't have to. Some of the content did not totally link up together, so what. Feige has already said that was done by design to take some of the pressure off the fans and their creatives so they wouldn't have to watch everything that comes out. It was clear to me that the overarching theme was the rise of other heroes to fill the gap now that the avengers have been disbanded after The Infinity war saga. After such a successful 10 years this was the perfect time to do such a thing. I'm so glad Marvel isn't run like WB or else they would have canceled everything based on a few fan videos and Twitter complaints lol I personally enjoyed all of it. I enjoyed all the movies and TV shows. If you ask non MCU fans they enjoyer the movies they even enjoyed Thor love and thunder. It's only this very loud MCU vocal minority that's running around screaming the building is on fire. The Marvel Universe has gotten to the point where they're not living and dying on movies ergo they can now experiment, do different things, even reach for the sky and fail in order to figure out what works and what doesn't work. Phase IV was an experimental phase for the MCU. This experimental phase was needed in order to grow the brand. If you look at it that way you'd realize that phase four was much more successful than people give it credit for. People are saying with the Ant-Man trailer phase 5 looks like a return to form. It only looks like a return to form because phase four was the experimental phase and now they've returned to The old Marvel way of doing things. Phase 4 was a great phase. I believe folks Will eventually look back on phase four years later and see it was a pivotal time in the MCU and it was needed to push the MCU brand into different directions.

This whole "everything has to fit together" thinking is the main problem. People have that mindset and it is just ruining everything. Yes the first 3 phases were leading to something, but even then alot of movies really had nothing to do with the ongoing plot outside of a post credit scene. Phase 4 was about setting up new heroes and villains for phase 5 and 6, but people have no patience for this

It's funny I'm sure those who are complaining about the volume of projects in phase 4 were the ones clamoring for them to explore more things like phase 4 has. I'm certainly all for volume the more the better as far as I'm concerned as long as it stays true to what the MCU is as a whole. I disagree with John in that the connectivity is what makes the MCU special and can really enhance the experience. Spider-Man No Way Home bringing in the past Spider-Man films as Canon is not only fantastic as a viewer but gave a lot of hope as to what was to come.

Yeah I don’t really get the people complaining. If you haven’t liked most of the content lately that’s fine but, to act like phase 1 told us everything that was coming is some revisionist nonsense. Phase 1 was Thanos as big bad and infinity stones. Phase 4 is Kang as big bad and the multiverse. They’ve literally given the same amount of info. Just have to wait n see how it comes together
@@bricktwo5849 A loud minority, ha, i rarely have laughed as much. Phase 4 has ruined the MCU for so many people, movies start to flop at the Box office (Black Widow, Eternals, Ant-Man cough cough),and don't give me Covid crap for eternals, Spiderman had the same problem and still made almost 2 billion.
Loki was a great show with far too much focus on Sylvie, Wandavision was a great show until the braindead Monica Rambeu line: "They don't know what you sacrificed for them" and Wanda getting off scott-free after torturing an entire town. She-Hulk was just, the worst, from the incessant whining of the main character to the "hurr durr My PaTrIaRcHy, MeN bAd, hurr hurr", while she literally catfished someone in the show and we are somehow supposed to feel bad for her, and be mad at the man? Like, come on. Absolutely nobody watched Mrs. Marvel, Hawkeye was just a, passing the torch to discount Hawkeye, show and FatWS was medicore at best.
And yes Rotten Tomatoes is not the most reliable, but since you brought it up, in the end, Eternals was the first rotten MCU movie. Too many characters, too many flashbacks, the absolute waste of Salma Hayek as an actress, pacing that made me literally fall asleep watching this, and a conclusion that was so epic, that absolutely NOBODY since, has mentioned the giant Celsestial sticking out of earth since this movie.
Iron-Man, Cap, etc. weren't Marvels A-List heroes when the MCU started, but compared to now? Who you gonna call? You probably better call the Ghost Busters than the Avengers lmao.
Kang shows up and you're stuck with no Super Soldier Serum Black Captain America, discount Hawkeye, discount Black Widow, discount Hulk, discount Iron-Man, discount Black Panther, a Hulk who has been emasculated by She-Hulk, a Dr. Strange who should have been the new focal point of the coming phases but had no contact with anyone but Wanda and the "literally worst thrown punch in movie History America Chavez".
People can like wahtever movies they want, good for them, disliking things is fine too, but ofc, those that dislike obviously only hate blindly, cause modern lefty narratives. Everything you don't like, you hate, no grey areas allowed, to discredit any form of critique.
And as a last, if you only revel in your own echo chamber IRL, because people like you don't hang out with people who think differently on anything, ofc you actually believe Phase 4 is the best. I would have almost laughed, if it wasn't so damn pathetic. Secret Invasion scores say it all. Have fun in your Hivemind bubble lmao.
Eternals is a beautiful movie. My only complaint was the pacing and I wanted more scenes with each character as is a great movie. Can't wait to see them more.
Well the pacing was going to be hard with so many characters. But IMO they did what they could as best they could. And I honestly didn't mind it too much. Think the story was interesting enough and with good enough characters as well.
I wonder if it would be have been served as a series.
@@CrowTRobot yep, this would be better as a series BUT the cost of production would be ginormous having all big shots in the industry playing a role
@@jiyoo6109 I think they were scared to do it as a series after the disaster that was Inhumans, but it would have been served better considering all the new characters it introduced.
@@CrowTRobot Definitely, each episode being for each character and their journey throughout time.
I loved this movie. This is one of the rare times I don’t understand the hate it gets.
The voice is Blade. His movie was supposed to come out November 2023, but it's been delayed to 2024
I absolutely love this movie. I think there are lot of massive concepts that some people didn’t pick up on. Idk. I loved it.
This movie needed to be a 6-9 episode series on Disney+
This is one of my most rewatched MCU movies.
It's flawed but fascinating,
Also, I absolutely love the golden aesthetics of the Eternals' powers.
Youre so close to moon knight im so hyped lmao
This cast shines so bright imo, they're all perfect in their roles and so damn captivating and believable. Druig and Gilgamesh most of all.
I love this movie and didn’t see what other people didn’t like about it. Great action, story, with some laughs but not to much. Love the character development and you get everyone’s motivations and leaves you with some mystery for the future. Also love the cosmic scale of the story. It’s one of my favorite marvel movies. I’d say top 6 maybe 5.
I think it's more fatigue and the recent trend of many critics. It seems like every movie lately has been absolutely shredded. Other than Spiderman No Way Home. Funny, because that was the one set that people seemed to not like, because of the Iron Man connection. It happened in the lead up to Infinity War/Endgame. Everything else around or after has been crapped on. It seems like not liking the movies is just a cool thing now. It's not in my top 5, but it's definitely not one of the worst. I enjoyed this more than I did Falcon and the Winter Soldier. A lot of people also hated Loki, which, other than No Way Home, has been my favorite thing from Phase 4. Thankfully they still move on. Otherwise, we'd have another DCEU on our hands. A movie universe that can't move on, because no matter what they do, everyone throws a fit. No way they make it half way through James Gunn's vision the way everyone is already up in arms.
The voice at the end was the voice of Mahershala Ali, the actor who is going to play the new version of Blade in the MCU. Dane Whitman (Jon Snow) is a character called the Black Knight, though he hasn't take that mantle yet.
"is that Rob Stark?" , I'm like just wait bro til you see John Snow, and find out the main characters name 😂
I love the similarities of Gemma Chan's roles as Sersi in Eternals and Mia in Humans (possibly why she was chosen for this role lol), i.e.:
- a synthetic being designed with consciousness, true leader of her kind
- based/living in Britain
- cares for humans the most/ has the most humanity
- fell in love with a human, etc.
The voice of the character at the end was who several people have said it was, but his reasons for talking to Dane is to recruit him like Sam Jackson did to Tony Stark, with a team called Excalibur, which are a bunch of UK heroes, which is befitting because of the ebony blade. The girl playing Sersi is in her second role in the MCU, she was also in Captain Marvel as the female Kree soldier in Carol's original team.
But…Blade isn’t a UK hero. Methinks he’s recruiting him for the Midnight Sons
@@cadestephens6959 Midnight Suns is not a property that Marvel really cares about, and I'm thinking that Excalbur would be a un style force, and knowing that Marvel wants to bring in Captain Britain it only makes more sense
My intro to Gemma Chan was with Humans. I think I need to check and see if I finished watching it. What I watched, I enjoyed.
@@Xonslaught1 I disagree. Marvel has been planting supernatural elements all over the MCU for a possible Midnight Sons movie or Disney+ show. Plus with the rumour that Sacha Baron Cohen is playing Mephisto in Ironheart, what better villain to assemble the Midnight Sons around. We already have Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Elsa Bloodstone, Man-thing, Dr. Strange, soon to be Blade and there are rumours of a Ghost Rider project expected to be announced. There's your team.
I dont know much about this Excalibur team. Who else would be a part of that line-up if i may ask aside from Captain Britain?
I only know the Midnight Sons. haha. I just figure the Midnight Sons team-up might be the way to go since Marvel is also planning on bringing in Ghost Rider as well.
*Edit*
I just looked up the Excalibur line-up and its mostly filled with X-men members. I'm not sure if Marvel is planning to bring in the X-men anytime soon to that degree. I mean the various line-ups in the comics has members like Kitty Pryde, Colossus (i could see them maybe bringing in Colossus since he's been introduced in Deadpool), Nightcrawler, Psylocke.
The only line-up i can see that they could bring in would be: Excalibur: Sword of Power comic line-up since thats the only team-up that has Black Knight in it. but i have no idea who the other heroes are that are mentioned.
Eternals is a very underrated movie. I liked it
I absolutely LOVE this movie, and the more you watch, the more you catch on the characters. Love it.
Me too! I love that it’s all show and not tell when it comes to the characters. I guess most watchers just wanted to be spoon fed information.
That scene at the end, where Arishem makes a personal appearance to Earth... It was just jaw-dropping when I saw it in the cinema. Something so out of left-field that NO-ONE was expecting.
Given how well they did that scene, it shows that they're going to do Galactus some real justice when he makes an appearance...
I remember when I saw this part in theater as well and damn does it make you realize how massive they are and how terrifying that would be to see something like that in person
This is a movie that could perfectly work outside of Marvel, it stands on its own, loved it
End credit voice is Blade. The sward is called the Ebony blade that gives him some type of powers
Phastos is my favorite; his abilities are so cool and he’s such a kind hearted dude.

I love that you went into this with an open-mind. Your reactions are so good. Lvoe the content man.
This movie is the most underrated Marvel movie. Intro to some great characters, beautiful cinematography, almost perfect cgi (after everyone sh*ts on phase 4 cgi), very cool power sets and costumes, etc. It is very dense (maybe overly) and subtle with its themes but that just means there’s a lot to appreciate, especially on multiple watches. It’s just so unique and subversive, it’s definitely not a carbon copy of so many other superhero pitfalls that I can’t help but appreciate it.
I would like this comment 100 times over if I could. Couldn’t have said it any better
I didn’t know it was Monday until this video came out I thought today was still Sunday.
lmaoo same
I didn't really enjoy this movie, but i loved the twist with the villain. i didn't see it coming.
I really didn't appreciate them killing off Gilgamesh. He was a huge part of Marvel, especially with Thor, Hercules, and the Avengers in the comics.
Don Lee's talent agency recently put out a list of his upcoming projects and Eternals 2 was on it. It's possible this means resurrection, though I kinda doubt it, but is more likely flasbacks or something like that. Either way, at least we'll get to see Gilgamesh a little more in some capacity
Thanos was trying to save people from the Celestials and stop (more like postpone) the emergence, being an eternal with deviant/mutant genes, he had knowledge of everything, if you look back at Thanos' tunic/attire, it's very similar to the Eternals' clothing
I also loved this movie. Mostly, I liked that it broke the Marvel mold with new characters than those in previous movies. Maybe what Marvel fanatics wanted was familiar characters? The end credits let us know that the next Eternals movie will connect to the Marvelverse with "son of Thanos." I can't wait.
I love that this movie underplays Thanos's role in the overarching galaxy of issues.
This film is gorgeous. It’s such a shame that there was pacing issues with the script. Having so many characters, it’s very difficult to give each one their moment to shine.
I liked how organic their power sets were. The design of the costumes and CGI were seamlessly done.
Note that the deviant “was able to heal itself” in London because it stole Ajax’s power of regeneration. And then it stole Gilgamesh’s compassion, countenance, and strength. Thena really had to concentrate on the only way to destroy it-cutting it apart.
The last scene's voice cameo was Blade. Also, look up Marvel's The Black Knight. Dane Whitman is the Black Knight.
Black Knight, is he the one who has a partner called fog?
33:42 Fun fact, it’s the same guy who didn’t the music in Game of Thrones😂
Kit Harrington “Jon Snow”’s character is the Black Knight in the comics. He mentioned his complicated family history because his ancestors were previous wielders of The Ebony Blade. Which is passed down through generations in his family. That’s the sword he was about to pick up in the end credits. Also, the voice asking him if he was ready at the end, was Mahershala Ali who is confirmed to be playing Blade in an upcoming film.
The visuals in this are stunning and I liked a lot of the characters. I think I would have enjoyed this more if they had done an origin movie and then a movie about stopping Tiamat.
I actually loved this movie, especially the mute speedster
My favorite reaction and critic this year..for so many reasons.good job bro 💯
This is totally a world-building movie and not so much a "superhero" movie, which is why I think so many people don't like it. When you can appreciate what it actually is, it becomes 100x better, IMO.
I loved the way the portrayed the speedster and how they fought
Mesopotamia is the region of the Fertile Crescent (modern day Iran) that was between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers (Mesopotamia literally means "between two rivers") where a lot of ancient civilizations, namely the Sumerians, Babylonians, and Assyrians were founded
I really enjoyed it and was surprised that my other half thought it could have been much shorter. I appreciated the time spent developing the characters.
The voice at the end was Mahershala Ali, the actor who will be playing Blade in the MCU. Kit Harington's Dane Witman, is a character who eventually becomes The Black Knight, some one who appears in a lot of Blade and Avenger comics. So youll probably see a lot of him in phase 5
I liked it. It was ok. What didn't work for me though, was the size of the cast.
There have been ensemble Marvel films before, but they worked well because you typically already knew the characters and cared about them. Marvel spent years developing individual film properties and then when they released them in Avengers, the film didn't suffer from each character having less individual screen time because we already had multiple films of their backstory.
The eternals tried to introduce 9+ new characters in a film, each with their own personality and powers, and have it 'gel' like the Avengers films did. The part that was missing was me caring anything about the characters. I frankly had zero emotional connection when I saw a death scene. I couldn't have cared less... and it's unfortunate they did that. Eternals would have worked FAR better had Marvel had the foresight to drop these characters into previous films to give us that good base to see Eternals from.
Jon and Rob back on the screen together!
“And all was perfect once again”
Something you have to understand, when a population gets high, then the celestial is born. That's what happened to Thanos's planet titan. So this movie just provides more backstory to why Thanos did what he did. He was trying to stop the birth of celestials
so excited for your reaction to Hawkeye!!
I love so much about this movie! Chloe Zhao is an excellent director. Excited for the sequel
Totally agree with you about the movie, especially on the fight scenes, they made those fights look so incredible!
I loved this movie so much. The powers and scenery were beautiful and the story expanded a lot upon celestial and stuff like that. Also the CGI in this movie is sooooo good
Honestly, I love this movie. You get to see all the angles of religion in the Eternals. Some remain in the dogma, others fight it, and others still understand why it needs to be fought, but do not want to participate. And then you get Ikarus, who betrays everything he ever believed in and would rather kill himself than live with the guilt.
It's such a well-nuanced movie.
The main problem with this movie is that there were just too many characters, which meant that there was no room in the story for characters growth and nuance. Every interaction had to be I'M SO ANGRY, or I'M SO SAD, or I'M SO IN LOVE.
This would have been an amazing series, and the Deviants were rad
Agreed. Should have been a series to flesh out the characters. They were just forgettable for the most part to me.
Well guess what... with more movies with them you get character growth. But we can't have that because it must magically happen on the first movie. You say it yourself it would've been amazing as a series to see that character growth in one season. But have a problem with it happening across a *Series* of movies.
I totally agree with your take on this bro. It's a great change of pace from the other MCU movies.
I personally really enjoy this movie and think it was really well done. It's prob nkt in my top 5 but still great.
Keep up the great work bro! 👏👌
Something I think is sometimes missed is the connection of the celestials within marvel. If you remember, it’s what Ego is. Ego, the villain from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 who is Peter Quills dad. Starting in phase 2 we start seeing more tie ins and easter eggs to the comic book universe which is really entertaining for all of those marvel fans (such as myself). Puck, the character that appeared at the end next to Star Fox (Harry Styles) is a common companion to Gamora (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Adam Warlock (remember the end credit scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 where the Sovereign(golden people) looked at a pod and called it “Adam”?). Historically in the comics, Adam Warlock and his two companions Puck and Gamora live inside the Soul Stone and he is the character who is key to defeating Thanos. Adam is an “Avatar of Life” (hence living inside the soul stone) and Thanos is an “Avatar of Death”, the two constantly locked in a battle to keep balance in the universe. Thanos is in love with Death (who has a character representation in the comics) but she never lets him join her, preventing him from dying and entering her realm. In the comics, this is his motivation for collecting the infinity stones and wiping out 1/2 of life; a tribute to Death to make her love him and have them rule jointly over the afterlife. And yes, Starfox (or Eros) is Thanos’ brother and a fellow Titan and in the comics becomes a member of the Avengers to help fight against his brother and protect his home world. More comic book connections (because why not, I’m already typing) if you ever watch the Fantastic Four movies, you’ll meet the character Silver Surfer. Silver Surfer works (more like a slave or indentured servant) for the celestial Galactus in return for not destroying his home planet Zenn-La. The Infinity saga in the comics (obviously very different from the cinematic universe) places Silver Surfer as one of the main characters as he’s the first one to notice Thanos is collecting stones, raises the alarm and informs everyone, and attempts to stop his plan. So many more things to stay, but I need to stop myself 😂
Yes the voice was Mahershala Ali, who was announced sometime ago at one of the comic cons that he would be playing the new Blade.
It's hysterical that Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington's character) is being set up to play a character within the MCU referred to as the Black Knight w,hen that's essentially what he was in Game of Thrones, a member of the Night's Watch at Castle Black. As the Black Knight he is the welder of the Ebony Blade a sentient weapon that gives him powers but also makes him cross the threshold to maintain his sanity.
A lot of people thought that Marvel was being to "woke" with the diverse cast of the Eternals but if you know anything of their comic origins you would expect them to be diverse. And of course if I were a Celestial sending a group of people to a planet where they are to be the protectors I would think it makes sense to arrange them in a fashion to fit in with all ethnicities.
I hope that maybe when you are caught up with the MCU you make take a journey back into the films by watching some of the easter egg videos that are out there. I think it's really cool to understand the translation from comics to live action... to think how old some of these characters are and how we are now in an age where pretty much any and all characters can be translated to live action in some fashion.
I don't know if you've counted how many goose bumps you get in each movie, but I'm betting ... this is one of the TOP 3.
Im always so happy to see so many stars in these movies and I love the Stark brothers in something together again, I really liked this one. But I like ALL of them so...anyways Mondays are the BEST now! Thank you Alex.
Dude please keep the movie channel up this shit has me in tears
Yeah, there's a bunch of different types of immortality in fiction. There's the kind where they're completely immortal, as in they don't age and just plain can't be damaged (whether it's actual immunity or just healing too fast for the damage to matter). There's the kind where they just live forever but can be killed (though it usually takes a lot more effort to kill them). There's the kind where they don't stay dead (either through reincarnation, or because when they die, they heal and get back up). Or there's the kind that can body hop, either by jumping into a clone of themself (or robot bodies), or just stealing someone else's body.
On the whole "preventing the emergence is stopping countless worlds from being created" thing, I really don't like that argument. Not to get too political, but it reminds me uncomfortably of the abortion debate, with opponents of it saying "what if the baby you aborted would've grown up to cure cancer?" It's a stupid response, because instead of worrying about hypothetical future people, we should be working to ensure that people in the present can survive and thrive. Doing that will *also* make the world better for those that come after us.
As for the names, each eternal's name is supposed to be similar (if not identical) to a mythological figure (implying that they were these mythological figures or at least inspired the myths somewhat).
Sersi=Circe, a sorceress from greek mythology
Ikaris=Icarus, son of Daedalus, who flew too close to the sun
Sprite=A sprite is a type of fairy, and lots of fairies in folklore create illusions, just like her
Thena=Athena
Ajak=Ajax, one of the strongest greeks in the Trojan War
Gilgamesh=Gilgamesh
Phastos=Hephaestus, greek god of the forge and invention
Makkari=Mercury, roman version of hermes, the god of messengers and travelers
Kingo=Kingu, a babylonian god
Druig=he's probably based on Druids, which were celtic priests that dealt with nature and stuff. Fits, given his irish accent, and the whole "living in the jungle away from the modern world" thing
There's only one type of immortality.
It's immortality. You live forever.
That's all it means.
Being unkillable is invincibility. Only time will eventually kill the invincible.
Dying and coming back is resurrection.
Reincarnating is reincarnation.
Immortality and invincibility frequently come as a combo.
@@ieyke"Dying and coming back is resurrection."
One of the reasons I like to refer to the Highlander-type immortal as a Phoenix in my fanfics, rather than an Immortal. (Another reason being that I just prefer the word phoenix!)
Great reaction as always. This isn’t my favorite, but I definitely enjoy it more now after a few rewatches. There was so much to unpack here! I think we are going to see more and more connections to the rest of the MCU as we do forward into Phase 5.
Same goes to Captain Marvel for me. Didn't like it at first. But after a few rewatches it seems pretty good
I mean the movie bombed at box office and havent heard anything about them since I think they are moving away from them
So I have a problem. In two days, I've watched every reaction video you made. I need more!
Just discovered your channel and love your vibe :) - binging through your Marvel vids!
I agree that the Eternals was a fabulous film! The voice belongs to to a character that you're gonna LOVE!!
Him confusing deviants with variants was hilarious
Thank you Alex !!! I love you been following since before you were a slipknot fan
This is easily one of my top 3 favourite MCU movies.
Awee I loveddd Eternals 💜 Especially coz of Angelina 😍 Also I loved Makkari and Druig
So unbelievably excited for Daredevil. To this day, one of my favorite things Marvel has ever made.
Ditto! Can’t wait! His reactions to the violence though; his mirror neurons will be working overtime! 😵💫
Thank you for entertaining me every day!
The way they showed Makkari’s powers was amazing.
This is a good movie. The visual and background music is outstanding. The only problem I have is that Ikarus' twist didn't land with me well. It felt weird and out of place.
I think druig and makari had way more chemistry as a couple than ikaris an cercie even though not enough screen time
I loved this film, I love when marvel does different themes and genres within the phases, it is a beautifully elevated, visually amazing, rich in history and backstory for the mcu, relationships, cast everything was fab for me! And druig is also my favourite! Love him!
Alex, thank you thank you thank you for appreciating this movie while so many people sweep it under the rug. It’s not perfect, but Eternals is one of my favorite MCU movies for the simple fact that Chloe Zhao (the director) dared to be different and told a story with subtley, purity, and managed to balance the greatest scope Marvel Studios has ever tackled with some monstrous CGI and weaved it into some of the most quiet, beautiful, intimate scenes (on real location might I add) that really shows a big theme of Eternals of how in the grand scale of this giant Universe, it’s all about people, relationships, and love. This juxtaposition is one of the many reasons I love this movie so much, along with stunning cinematography, an epic score (done by my favorite Ramin Djawadi who did the Game of Thrones soundtracks) as well as great work by a hugely stacked cast. Another great reaction brother!
Immortal means you live forever but you can still die by physical things
This was a good introduction to these characters. The story was a little too packed which prevents it from reaching even higher marks but I wanna see all these characters return in big ways. Love makkari and druig, thena, Phastos, even sprite who I think is hated on too much as a character. All in all, good movie, great characters, great potential for further development and I’m glad you liked it too!
Meh, they should forget they ever made this disaster and move on. It probably would have done much better as a 8 or 10 part Disney+ series so that the 10 or so main characters could be fleshed out and we'd actually care about them. This movie was excruciating to watch in the theater.
@@JustWasted3HoursHere responding to someone who liked the movie and characters just to complain how it shouldn’t exist and that I’m wrong is not the way to go about expressing your opinion. Think what you want, don’t try and prove your opinion is right over others. That being said, they should never forget something happened. That lazy and has never been the way marvel does things. Building on mistakes and making them work is something they’ve done in the past and will do in the future. Ignoring things that don’t work is exactly why DCs universe has failed in the past
I really like Sersi and I also like Thena and Gilgamesh (sad that he died)
@@AntonioCruz-jp4bhI love that Marvel doesn’t forget anything they’ve done in the past, and bring back all kinds of characters from previous projects. I also love this movie and really want more of their story. I’m sure Marvel will follow up on this, maybe when we don’t quite expect it.
@@gregstephens agreed! Honestly when they bring back forgotten or often untalked about characters it’s more exciting for me because I know they see the potential! That’s why when they said ghost was back for thunderbolts that was the most exciting announcement to me
You know in comics thanos’ father was an eternal so he is half eternal
There’s a theory that he got half the vision that thena had and further motivated him to stop half the world from over populating since he thinks that’s what it is since it happened on his planet Titan
the final voice was BLADE my dude
Yaaayay sick!🎉 After Shang-Chi came out on Friday I was worried this one would end up getting pushed back as well. Stoked!
Yeah I loved this movie! I've watched it quite a few times now. Glad you enjoyed it!
Side story: When I saw this in theaters there was a group of tweens sitting somewhere to the right of me and somewhere towards the end of the movie I heard them say they only went to this movie cause they heard Harry Styles was in this movie. So they literally watched a 2+ hour long movie for his cameo in the first credits screen. I always thought that was funny so wanted to share XD
This is the last time I ever liked, even loved, anything MCU lol. It has so much more heart and personality and amazing characters than anything after it.
I've not hit play yet, and I am already so hyped about this reaction.
I love it. I just wish it was a 10 episode show.
Like... Seriously the whole deviant evolving storyline was soooo wasted.
@@nickmilo932 apparently it was originally intended to be a series, but it felt too disjointed so they made it a movie instead, then got all the feedback that "it should have been a series". I agree, too, it really should have been a series considering how much they tried to cover.
Eternals is underrated for sure. It was a bigger swing than the first Guardians movie in terms of characters even the comic book fans didn't give a flip about and general wierdness. It's not as much of a crowd pleaser as GotG tho and there was some serious Post-Endgame Depression going on at the time, so I get why it wasn't well received. Still, it's comfortably my 3rd favorite phase 4 movie.
Honestly, Eternals is one of only three Phase Four movies that I saw at least three times in theaters.
Feels like I should rewatch it😂.
Always happy to see people who enjoyed this movie!! I loved it and thought it was right up my alley. The fight scenes looked amazing, the epic sweeping shots were gorgeous--just an overall visually stunning film--and the soundtrack was soooo good (Ramin Djawadi composed it, and he also did GoT's soundtrack). I personally thought the actors all had great chemistry. Great performances and it definitely felt like they were a family. This movie was an A+ for me.
So No way home is not on Disney + now, but thats the next movie after Hawkeye, BUT i shall say, that you should watch the 5 Spiderman (Sider-man 1-3, and The Amazing Spider-man), and maybe the 2 Venom movies, because you wouldn't understand the movie as well. By the way I'm really happy that you're starting Daredevil tomorrow, he's my favorite superhero out of Marvel next to Spider-man. P.S we don't know if it contains spoilers, but the director has told that the voice in the end was Blade (vempire-hunter) he will have a movie later.
He has stated he is going to watch the 5 Spider-Man movies first.
