I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
Big SHOUTOUT to lojooo for standing in the stores for probably about an hour talking to himself and not giving no eff about other ppl lol 💪🏼💯🎣 keep grinding love the channel
My favorite line by far is the Berkley Tri-lene Big game mono. It is marketed as more of a saltwater line, but the abrasion resistance and low memory makes it amazing for all around freshwater fishing. also for a price of around $15 for 1500 yards you can't beat it.
I learned a lot in this video a lot of fisherman don’t do their research before they give advice on what equipment to use during bass fishing so I appreciate you knowing your stuff and making this video easier to understand for beginner anglers like myself. Thank you
I don't need another rod or reel! I have plenty but my favourite is the Spider Wire 25 lb. test line. I have used this for 20 something years. I have never had a problem with the wire itself and it has been the best hands down! No backlash or hangups like you get with monofilament wire. My least favourite is just that - monofilament because it stretches and it snags easily because of that very property. Thank you for sharing this with us. Most people don't understand the difference between the three but I do because I've used them all. I have been fishing for over 40 years and I just went fishing yesterday (6/13/2021) and I just can't seem to catch ANYTHING but babies from the shore. This is why it's best to use a boat! Thank you again and have a great year.
@@danielboutin5739 After a hiatus from any real fishing for awhile, this is what I've ended up doing. All my rods are primarily braid but I use a lot of leader in fluoro (which I'm new to) and mono.
@@derrick9653 One thing that I can guaranty is the fact that thinner lines get you more strikes. I have often fished with others and I catch more fish with 4 lb test line than those using 6 lb test line. It's the same when using larger lines. Most of my brook trout fishing is with only a size 8 Gamakatsu octopus hook and the front third of a nightcrawler....nothing else. The very light line allows for long casts. There are no bass up here where I live. The lakes have very little weed growth. For pike, I use braid and a titanium leader.

Hey! I sure enjoy your videos. I am a 74 year old bass fisherman living in New Mexico. Born in Oregon and living there most of my life, I did most of my fishing with my dad on the ocean, fishing for silver and chinook salmon. Also because of my age I used mono line exclusively. I started throwing fluro a bit a couple of years ago and really liked it. I use spinning reels only. I tried braided line, but just didn't like it and there is not much heavy cover in our lakes. in New Mexico. Again, I really enjoy your posts, and my vote goes for fluorocarbon line. I also make my own soft plastic baits.

New to baitcasters. Just ordered a new SLX. Planning to use it with 12lb yozuri hybrid and switch out my 10lb on my current daiwa fuego to 30 lb power pro. This vid came out at a perfect time since I was trying to figure out my set ups.
I’m in SoCal. I’ve used mono for years but have recently switched to braided. And I use it all year long. Power Pro 20lbs for lake with my Shakespeare Cirrus 6’6 spinning reel and Power Pro 50lbs for pier/surf/ocean fishing with any 7’0 Spinning Reel. I love it.
Thanks for the info - planning my strategy for evolving from medium spinning mono rods for northern and bass to tools better suited for the job. Matching line with other equipment is confusing to me, so specific recommendations like yours are very much appreciated!
Mono #1 Braid #2 I dont use floro because it doesn't last long and is expensive to replace. Once its over stretched it gets brittle and breaks on big fish. Mono will return after stretching to a point. Also its knot strength isnt as good as mono and braid. It might get you a few more bites but im not risking a lifetime fish breaking off
I have been trying to compare these different lines myself and be able to share with my family but now I can just send them this video! Thanks for the in depth review and different applications. Good luck from Indiana !
I use mainly braid. You can't beat the feeling and the direct contact with the lure. You feel every little tap. Though, when i fish hardbaits (jerkbaits, crankbaits, bladebaits) for perch I use monofilament because of the stretch. I will try fluoro for that purpose this year. For icefishing I also use mono, braid takes up water and therefor freezes which makes the braid break easily in cold temperatures.
YakPak Outdoors I’ve only ever used 20lb braid on a spool one time and it was two years ago and half of its still on the reel lol I use it as a backer now on a spinning set up Godline baby to mono for small top water like popR etc
Unless your big catfisher men or big spoonbiller but especially catfishing that braid sits in the water and rots away slowly. Trust me every year line needs to be replaced for me.

My favorite top water has to be the jitterbug! Caught alot of big bass on it and the action is just amazing! You should try that top water lure!
I'm like you bru.... depends on water clarity, but mostly liking that braid . Love the sound and look. Performance also. Go get em. Kicking bass
Don’t have much experience fishing but I use braided line so still have a lot more line to give a try I’ve been fishing for only 2 years but I love it so far
Man, I really miss your old videos. Every now and then I watch them again :)
My favorite line is mono, but a close 2nd is braid. Most of the time, with braid though, I tie on a floro leader. I love the look of that spinning combo
Some really good information man. Ive taken a break from fishing for quite a while. This vid jogged my memory, and was excellent to freshen up on the differences. Thanks for the knowledge👍🏻
Thank you and I didn't realize I was using the opposite kind of line and this information helped me pick my line more "picky", so thank you
I have just gotten into throwing braid. I am digging the sensitivity!
I'm new to fishing anything but cat and trout. And always used fluro. But just switched into learning some top water stuff and really like 30-40 braid now.
Fishing line for me, fishing down here in Louisiana, I prefer to use braid or fluorocarbon, 30 lb for braid, 15 or 17 lb fluoro. That’ll do the trick for just about all the fishing down here around me!
Seriously world's best channel ever you are who I was searching for👍👍👍
I usually use 12 pound lo-vis green Trilene on most of my reels. I will use braid when flipping heavy cover or top water. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for information, New to bass fishing and just bought new Lews bastcaster and have to line up , going with braid
Excellent video I was looking for one explaining when to use braid over fluorocarbon and you answered it for me. Heading to Academy tomorrow to pick up line and a 7'-3" Med Heavy. Thank you & Subscribed!
My absolute favorite fishing line Is stren 20 mono bc I just like how it cast how smooth it is coming out of my reel and the durability or it.
Braid - fireline. Cus, it the ultimate line for My setup, predetor fishing.
Denmark 😁👍
Thanks for the information. I am getting back into fishing and learning all I can to fish the waters here in the Tampa Bay Area.
Awesome stuff for a beginner trying to build an arsenal for kayak fishing. Thanks!
What u said bout the mono makes a lot of sense I never thought of it that way I’m have to try it out
Mono & Braid the best in South La. Big thumbs up on this video!!!
Thank you lojo.fishing now I understand probably what fishing line to use for certain lures. 30lb braid fishing line will be my #1 choice now for top water. Thanks.

Thanks for making such a great video! I definitely love using mono over anything else because it’s cheap and works.
