I just received my kit today. I’m blown away at how much Lectric cares about their customers. I was shocked when I noticed I received a brand new front tire & rim! Thank you for posting this. It’s helping me a lot as I do this job on my own
Thanks for the guidance. The video was helpful. One thing to be aware of when replacing/rerouting the rear brake. If you have the Lectric lock option, you will need to remove the casing in order to get the brake or the brake lever end. I tried both, neither worked. The brakes are awesome. Thanks for the video.
So glad Lectric made good and switching us that got mechanical brakes on our 3.0 to the hydraulic brakes free. The mechanical brakes are horrible. Now I’m bugged though all new Lectric e-bikes after the 3.0 came out are already 750 watts. I would love to see a Lectric 4.0 with 750 watts max around 1200 watts. And the better 2100 cells. Cannot wait. E-mail says mine should ship out in 2 weeks.
Great Vid. I need a stand like that. Going to install my upgrade today on 2 bikes. Bought them back on November 1st thinking they were going to go up in price after Black Friday. Great Marketing by Lectric as they are still the same price. However, I did get the comfort seat & lock package!!@ woohoo🎉
Thanks for the video. Lectric never emailed me about this upgrade. I would have missed out on this deal if it wasn’t for your video. 2 kits will arrive in Oct.
I bought my Lectric 3.0 one year ago. It has worked flawlessly except for the front mechanical brake does tend to lock up. It was hard to believe that Lectric sent me a box containing a new front tire assembly and to hydraulic brake assemblies. I haven't put them on yet but I will shortly and I have to say that when I buy my wife an electric bike, there will be no question as to where I will buy it, the only question will be which model of Lectric bike will she want.
I did this upgrade about a week ago. It's not hard at all. Someone with basic DIY skills should have no problem. If you are having problems with brake rubbing, loosen the caliper mounting bolts and insert a piece of business card between the pad and the rotor on both sides. Now lightly squeeze the brake lever and tighten the mounting bolts. Release the lever and remove the business cards. The brakes should be perfectly aligned and adjusted.
You are so good at this stuff and really know what you are doing! I’ve been watching you a long time and you have become a real “go to” guy for these sorts of things! 👍
Hi, Jeremy I've been following your channel since I got my first 1.0. I have the 3.0 now, and I got to tell you, while watching you hit the back brakes while holding the handle bar with one hand spooked me out, because I tried the same thing while going down hill here in the Bronx, and the force of those Hydraulic brakes threw me off of my bike man!🤯🤯🤯 I never had a problem doing this while riding my xp 1.0. Please give me helpful advice because I am now afraid to hit those Hydraulic Brakes with one hand on the handle bar. Thank you!
My kit should be here tomorrow. I got one of the last non hydraulic brake 3.0s before they halted shipping. Can’t wait to get the squeaky brakes removed.
@@JeremiahMcintosh the stock ones squeak so bad, you can hear me coming a mile away. Makes the bike feel cheap when riding. I’m installing my kit today.
Hi Jerry, My 2.0 got Hydro brakes while it was still laying upside down on the box. I sure would like to see a brake light kit for the 2.0. Cars look for a brake light. The young drivers dont know what hand signals are.
Just got my replacement brakes!!! Your instructions seemed more than enough. I liked the short explanations and cautions. I'm just now hitting 600+ miles. Do you review 3d prints that hold up on lectrics? 👍✌🖖🍷
I have a xp 2.0 and from day one I could not stop with the brake system no matter what I tried .... Now let me tell ya first , I am a Auto Mechanic with over 25 years experience so I am very mechanically inclined so brakes like this are no biggy for me , but like i said above I tried numerous things. I cleaned the rotors , I tried different pads (actually 3 different pair of pads) I tried to adjust them til i was blue in the face . Finally i bit the bullet and went and picked up a set of XTECH self contained hydraulic calipers from Amazon and used the exsisting cables that the bike had originally . I also used the original brackets the calipers bolted to and the worked just fine with lining everything up as needed. First test it felt like i was riding a totally different bike . It stopped the way a bike with new brakes should ... Finally I Could STOP !!! I guess i should have told ya that I had less than 50 miles on the bike when I started this journey . When i found out Lectric decided to do something for the 3.0's I was going to call them up and start bitching but i guess why should i bother and where would it get me . I will just fix it myself and be done with it and lemme tell ya , I am glad I did . Now i do not have to worry about panic stops if i ever had one , and would it stop or just keep going . I love the bike but from the begining I was almost gonna sell it and get a different one cause the brakes "SUCKED SO BAD" ..... This is then how i found your channel , looking for a new bike . That is how sure i was gonna buy another bike , but now since the calipers were changed it is a whole new bike. I dig your channel JM !!! Keep up the good work !!
Great video. I received my upgrade kit the other day and will be using your video as a reference for installation. I do have a question. Do you know if the new front tire comes preinstalled with Slime. If not, do you recommend that product? Thanks.
I got the kit yesterday actually and this video is much more complicated that need be…. No need to undo the handle bar components at all and no need to undo any of the tiedowns.
I have the kit in hand but haven't begun to install it yet. Is it possible to disassemble the rear brake line and feed it through the frame brackets properly (then reassemble and bleed it, of course)? Or is this a bad idea?
@@ccgabe82 I already did the job and decided not to do it, though I’m pretty certain I could handle it. I’ve worked on everything from Indy 500 entries down to street stocks, and aircraft. Guess I was really asking if the hassle is worth the trouble. The way the spiral wrap holds everything together, I decided it isn’t.
@@tbhausen I just did my front brakes. Took me about 45 minutes. Finished the job on rear brakes today. That spiral wrap on the cables is time consuming.
Lectric is just saving face by offering the upgrade you shouldn't be praising them. I got my 3.0 the second week in July so they should have just sent it with the upgrade but no. Now I have the e-10 error code and have to wait for them to send me the wiring harness and if it's not that then they have to send me some other parts because they cant confirm the exact issue. When I got the bike it had a gapping hole in the back tube. When my 2.0 got the e-10 error code they sent me a new battery which fixed it and now the e-10 error code can be any of numerous issues. I'll never buy another Lectric anytime ine the future because I'm tired of their bs.
I have a question I just got my replacement brakes for the recall but I didn’t get a from wheel???? Is there a reason why you got one and I did not??? Is it even safe to put these on without the different size rotor?
You get new mechanical brakes for the recall which doesn’t need a new front wheel. These were the hydraulic brakes they were sending out which was a different program before the recall that you had to sign up by the deadline to get and they required a new wheel to fit.
I placed my order for the free upgrade to my 3.0 at the end of June and still haven't received an email letting me know they've been shipped lol. I reached out to Lectric and they said to just continue to keep an eye out... i guess they are a little behind. Still Excited though Update just received the email, brakes will be shipped the week of September 25th.... yikes lol
@@RonSamson smh. Idk why mine is so delayed. I placed the order the second i got the email. September 25th seems crazy to me. Especially since they've been so quick with everything else in the past for me.
It looks like on their website they will be selling a kit that’s only compatible with the 1.0 and 2.0 so im not 100% sure if these ones for the 3.0 are compatible with the 2.0.
For three hundred dollars more than AiPAS bikes that is basically the same bike, made by the same Chinese factory that makes Lectric’s XP3, they should.
At AiPAS's website, they have it hidden, but if you look hard, you'll find it. All these bikes are made by a handful of Chinese bike factories, and they simply rebrand them with different names. you know, the old bait and switch or whatever. The A1 Elite is currently on sale and for Black Friday they had even bigger incentives of free shipping and an additional $50.00. Did I mention they also have a horn, mag wheels, and turn signals? LOL Get one before it's over!
I’ve never tested one so I really can’t speak on the quality or performance of the Aipas bikes. Most companies will design each bike a little differently to their own specifications including motor, battery, controller, brakes so even if they are from the same factory they are different and not just rebranded.
Call them and ask, but to satisfy your curiosity, why don't you put together a video of taking both apart to see if that is true, but I doubt it. The AiPAS bike gives you more feature compared to the Lectric (Horn, Mag wheels, turn signals), so it wouldn't surprise me that the components are better to.
How did everyone find out about this? The only notification I received was the recall on the calipers. Now I find this out so I emailed them and Lectric basically said Sorry, too late. You can buy them though....No thanks.....
Sorry you missed the deadline. Everyone was supposed to have gotten an email several months back about the hydraulic brake upgrade offer. It Might have went into your spam folder?
Unfortunately, Lectric is no longer honoring this offer. I tried a few days ago and they refused to make good on this even though my wife and I bought 2 XP 3.0s in January. Lectric customer service was not at all helpful...sorry we bought Lectric brand.
