Elmer is probably my favorite mash bill #2. Rockhill would be up there with Elmer for me but sadly we got a 2018 bottle that we didn't like much, it was really oaky without much more going on. Other Rockhills I've had have been great! Cheers!
I had this for the first time at Bourbon on Main, downtown Frankfort, and actually scored a bottle in Louisville. I like it better than Blanton's. ETL is tied as my favorite with Rock Hill. I agree with you Sarah....it's better than Blanton's!

I wish some of these were easier to find and more available/cheaper. Or maybe that the secondary market didn't hike up prices. I can only build up my bourbon collection so fast! Good video, guys.
Rock Hill over Elmer then Blanton’s. That’s my opinion but I just love RHF.
When BT completes their expansion and this becomes more available, I will be stocking this for sure.

I have multiple stores that I deal with and cannot find this ANYWHERE! There are too many punks out there buying it sell on secondary for $140+!! The shelf price in my main store is $54.99, when they have it.
I've had a bottle for a while, still unopened. I've been waiting for something special, perhaps Christmas. The bottle is so beautiful, I've been hesitant. Plus, I never see it anymore in the store, so am concerned I won't be able to replace it. Essentially, then, I'm not drinking it out of fear of not being able to drink it.

Tastes like a mix of ETL, OWA and Blantons :-) I paid $70 and $99 for my last 2 bottles...averaged out around $85 each

Elmer is great as well but released a lot less than Blanton's but Rock Hill is released a lot less than both of them.
RHF isn't the best bourbon I've ever had, but it's my personal favorite. Wish I wasn't hell bent on not paying $150+ on the secondary market, makes me drink it ssssllllloooowwwllyyyy.

One liquor store has it in my area and it is $200. It's been sitting along time and I refuse to pay that for it and it seems no one else will either.

I’m a diehard Blanton’s fan but I like this more. RHF tastes like apples to me.
I won a bottle in the Ohio bottle lottery. Uncorked it last night. Twas delicious. $59.99 retail.
I like RHF better than Blantons as well. The slightly higher proof helps.
Have you considered including Ancient Ancient Age (10-Star). It is super budget, also Mash #2, 90 proof, and is always overlooked.

I feel special. My wife gave me a bottle last year for my 60th birthday. It's now long gone! So, sooo yummy!
I’ve always wanted to try this and from the video it sounds like a bottle that’s right up my ally. For the price and availability though I’m happy I can get Blantons Gold at retail a few times a year here. Regular Blantons is still solid but I’m definitely in the minority with the Elmer which I find pretty generic.
Ive always been told that Blanton's is 4-6 years, ETL is 10 and RHF is 12 and aside from the warehouse and age, it's the same. I see real similarities in all three, but the RHF definitely feels richer and more aged.
In 2023 I highly doubt RHF has any 12 year in it with as popular as the Buffalo Trace mash bill #2 is these days. Not saying it doesn't have the oldest in it, but I think it being the highest proof of the others helps it feel more full and richer.

I feel like bourbon nerds chase ETL and RHF more than Blantons, but those just getting into whiskey chase Blantons because it’s allocated.

Man, I wish I could find this one. Based on your review I would really enjoy it also. I have only tried Blanton’s once, since it is never available, and wasn’t impressed at all. I like anything Buffalo Trace but where I live, I rarely find anything Buffalo Trace.

RHF@100proof is ten times better then Blanton's@93 proof.....
But then again I also fill an old Blanton's bottle with ancient ancient age 10 star since most people cannot tell the difference.

Blanton's is good but not worth even the MSRP
There are so much better Bourbon for less. Eagle Rare and Weller Antique are better Buffalo Trace products.

Im a fan of eagle rare but c’mon man.. Blanton’s is twice the Dram ER is. Haven’t tried Weller Antique yet, but I’ve heard great reviews

@@mattperry5789 I can agree that Blanton's is a better dram but not twice as good. For around 30 dollars MSRP ER is one heck of a dram. Blanton's for atleast in OH for 55 dollars is a harder sell unless you are collecting them. I forgot to mention EH Taylor is really good.
Even more unpopular opinion: Eagle Rare is better than Blanton's AND Weller. I don't care at all for Blanton's or any of the Wellers, meanwhile ER is a favorite.

I agree completely, it’s better than Blanton’s Original; RHF just has a light candy sweetness that isn’t cloying, and I agree, it is at the perfect proof point! Which is exactly what Blanton’s Gold does, at 103 proof, it is very similar to RHF, and is everything that Blanton’s Original lacks! Try some Blanton’s Gold in that tasting flight, it’s a tough call between RHF! 😂 cheers 🥃🥃

this is the same bottle as Sazerac Caribou Crossing. SCC has a fancy cork/stopper topped w/ a caribou - very similar to Blanton's. And SCC is so nasty, I took it back and exchanged it for a 1L Larceny. I always buy a back-up bottle of RHF when IO can find it.

Woodford Double Oak? It's good, we like it a lot more than regular Woodford. Don't know how it would fair in a Flight Fight though, I guess we'll have to find out!

Brought this on the 4th of July paid $62. Went back to buy another and they were all gone 😢😂
I last bought a bottle of RHF in 2015 and it has never come back to Ontario. Blanton's is everywhere in Ontario but sells quickly. Odd thing is RHF was $20+ more than Blanton's when it was available. (Ontario has Government controlled Liquor stores so there is no secondary pricing)
Should we blame BT's ridiculous allocation policy for secondary pricing on so many mediocre or overrated Bourbon's or is this policy planned to create the demand?
I think BT have just made a reputation for themselves. They're trying to keep up with demand, they're building new warehouses constantly to store all the new barrels they're filling.
Why has no one brought up ancient age being the cheapest version of that mash?
True, that it is. Maybe we assumed folks would know that, but I'm sure some would not. The cheapest would be the 80 proof AA, and while we have respect for what the 90 proof AA brings to the table for the low price, it's hard for us to love any 80 proofer these days (though not impossible, just saying our tastes lean higher). It's Bourbon Night so can I say basically this, a friend of mine is a big fan and we did a blind flight fight with all mash #2. He chose AA 80 as 3rd best. Basically I’m sure there’s plenty of people who only know from another’s opinion and would never try a $10 bottle. But who knows. Maybe it’s their favorite ever. If the right social media influencers happen to maybe put it up for discussion it would be more accepted? Just thoughts. Love u guys. Keep drinkin whisky!!!
