I had my first bottle of Elmer T in 2009 for $28 at Liquor Barn in Louisville. Fell in love with it. A couple of years later it went up to $30. After Elmer passed away, it became almost obscure. Bought a bottle in 2019 for $49 and it was a bargain.
I remember when I first tried it in 2005 it was around $25. Ah the good ol' days
I love Elmer, my fav bourbon of all time, and what a great review you all. I'm now subscribed. My best friend's dad was the bottling house supervisor at buffalo trace and we always had free bottles of et lee and blanton's around growing up. Great review. Cheers!
Around 2012 I found this on a bottom shelf at a local liquor store for less than $30. I enjoyed it a lot. I haven't seen one since.
Back when Mr Lee passed in 2013 i went to my local to grab a few bottles. I wanted barrels that he picked himself. Checked codes and such to get the older bottles as this bourbon sat on the shelf back then. Still have 2 bottles from 2010. Not 100% sure he picked them but rumor was he picked every ETL into his 90s. Only bottles i dont open. Also i picked those bottles up for 28.99.....back then it was a great bourbon for the price.

ETL is the only mashbill 2 I haven't tried yet. Hancocks shows up down here frequently, Blanton's every now and then, RHF and ETL never, but got a RHF pour at a restaurant. It's easier to get a SFTB or Gold down here because there is always someone going on a cruise to the islands. Thanks for the review👍

A buddy of mine just gave me a bottle Elmer for my birthday $43 here in Iowa but super rare. In that price range there are so many good bourbons, Wild Turkey Rare Breed & Old Forester 1920 are my picks that are everyday available here.
Thank you for your review and honesty! I feel the same way about Blanton’s. People go crazy over it and I’m like no... I will not spend over $60 for it. Way more tastier options around that ball park but if you’ve never had either The ETL or Blanton’s then I can see forking out $100 at least once to have the bottle in the arsenal. 🥃
I was able to come up with 5 bottles of ETL last year in the Ontario Bourbon allocation lottery. It is an excellent trade bottle along with Blanton's Gold. The Bourbon selection in Ontario Canada is so generic that trading these is the only way I can get better Bourbon/Rye.
I have some ETL's,Weller 12 and Blanton's Gold burning a hole in my pocket, cannot wait for the border to reopen :)

As much as I hate on the BT hype train, this bourbon is delicious. Tastes like a chocolate covered strawberry. A bourbon worthy of its namesake.

my friend found me a bottle of this in an nother state where he lives and called me and said hey i fou d u an etl i was amazed and wait to see him to get it. then a few weeks later he called me and said hey me and my buddy drank that hole bottle over the weekend hope you dont care . hes not a bourbon guy and didn't realize quiet what he had stumbled on to.
i finally got one at retail. but i ddint think it was nearly as good as the first one i had 10 years ago

Came across 2 of these today at an MGA store for $250 ea. Passed on them. Grabbed a McKenna for $59 and Eagle Rare for $36 instead. Both 10 year age stated, both better taste..

I don't even drink bourbon. I don't usually even drink spirits! Usually watching two people drink would be exquisite torture but somehow you both make it interesting. You don't come off like a pair of total snobs talking down to the rest of us so, great job. I probably just came off as a snob for that comment. Lol.

In Ohio it's $38. Not that it matters. Since it's raffle only. I got burned by the 2015 cork taint edition. Still have a bottle of it that I'm afraid to open, since the previous bottle tasted exactly like dirt.

Never heard of it went to my local ABC and asked for something different lady went to the back came back with this said it was rare and was 37.00 so I got it will probably just put it on shelf for decor.
It used to be my favorite bourbon that I could get at Red Dot in Frankfort KY for around $35. Can’t get it now so I’ve moved on. Hopefully, BT’s new warehouses will eventually resolve these allocation issues. I don’t think that their current availability issues are good for Sazerac’s reputation long term. But, that’s just me
You make a good point. I can walk into any liquor store and see a whole range of different bourbons from Brown Forman, Beam, Four Roses, Woodford, Heaven Hill etc (not to mention all the craft distilleries) but all most people ever see from BT is standard Buffalo Trace and Ancient Age. That’s really about it. Sure, people know Pappy and they know the BT hype, but if all these other products are what people are drinking now because BT is never in the stores then it could harm them in the long run.

Listen to Sarah, its one of (if not the most) the most over-hyped bourbons on the market. Now, she didn't say that exactly but.....there are a lot of bourbons that are much better. And easy to find.

It's good whiskey but , it ain't worth no more than 40 bucks! IMHO . We got this for 25 bucks back in the day . Whole Lotta hype with some of these whiskeys .
