Taking the afternoon to look at some of these older video on a quiet afternoon. I'm also listening to the music on these touring videos and sit in awe of the places you have been. Beautiful scenery. I love that you get out and explore the wonderous places on earth. Thanks for showing us the beauty.
+Matt Vallejo Yep work is a drag. I have quit my last three jobs to go touring. So far I've never had a problem getting back on my feet. I'm in talks with my current employer for a 3 month leave of absence this summer. It is a lifestyle though, I don't own a house or have kids. A lot of people do it after retirement and that's fine too. At the moment all of my possessions fit inside a couple boxes and my bike is prepped. If it interests you then go for it, no regrets.
Yep, Foresty, if you get married and have children, it'll be harder if not impossible to do those adventures. A week's vacation is NOT the same. I gave up the idea of having children and had a lifetime of adventure.
This may be the best touring video I have seen. Uncluttered and to the point. Excellent Camera work and composition. Nice choice of music....very "into the wild". Very well done . Cudos. Now to get off the couch and do it myself.
Yeah a lot more personal I don't do any of the reading I just pay attention to the video and the music and his type is real small I have a hard time seeing it I have mentioned it in the past definitely I like when he talks
The neatest aspect to Simon's work (his name) is its consistency. Yes, some things have improved, likely due to technology, but his composition, camera work, music (wish the van and now climbing videos had more, but thats OK because we now have Rocko...) and general approach have remained perfect and on track. Good stuff. Like so may others, I can bounce back and forth from these early videos (my favorites) to his newer climbing videos. They are all just good!
You the man Forest! The intro of this video brought a tear to my eye, why! I don't know, maybe it was the hard day on the roof or maybe it's the couple of beers and the few shots after work? When I want to watch a relaxing video I can always count on you Forest, Thanks Forest!
September 2019 - Hi man, I don't know if you even look at your "Comments" after so long but I've only just found your UA-cam channel and I am totally knocked out by it. The life you were living - the day to day strategies of existing 24/7 in a little van in order to to raise funds to finance your bike trips. And those trips ..... how many more miles and hours did it take to get from A to B in order to take all those film clips. I'm so impressed and envious. You are living my dream. Thanks.
You wrote what's in my heart. Word for word. Thank you. And thank you Forest, for just existing, the Foresty way 😊. I love watching your life. It enriches mine beyond what words can express. 💙💛💙
Hey great video, we bumped into you, just south of Legget California, Looks like you made it, So did we. Wow your trip was amazing, Thanks Matt and Holly
Amazing! So inspirational! I wish more of you're viewers would watch your older vids. I miss seeing you on a bike before you had a van. Hopefully someday these boarders will reopen and you can get back down here in the US. Much love and respect f.f.🥇😎✌🌌
Along with absolute admiration for the journey, I also admire your patience in collecting these edits. Over 20 mins of video and only a few seconds of hand held footage. Well done... a pleasure to watch.
For me "Larger then Life". A far cry from my NYC skyline... You are Supersonic!! Great Job!! Shared with all my parking spot fanatics in their Range Rovers...
Thanks for these killer tours. I grew up in Ridgecrest/ China Lake Ca. and have been on the majority of your routes roads etc...... I spent 30 years in the Desert heat and now I've been in Montana for 32 years. From the Heat to the Freezer!!
Ok...so I'm still playing 'catch-up'...going thru your past videos and loving it. Your camera work was amazing even then. Beautiful country...thanks for sharing.
have lived in this area for nearly 50 years and for the first time saw mt. Shasta without the snow/glaciers last summer. looked over at it a couple days ago on a hike and saw a lot of bare ground. sad but a good opportunity to hike it . 14,180 rewinding the years, good video
Wow. This is extraordinary work. Beautiful cinematography and editing. Very inspiring trip, too. Found your channel a couple of months ago and have decided to watch from the first videos onward to see who this interesting young person is...what's he all about. So glad I did.
I started watching your channel couple years ago never really went back to watch your older stuff This is great foresty ,looking forward to some great videos with Rocko!
Traveling this way takes dedication. Doing so while setting up shots this good all the time takes crazy hella dedication. Thank you for going to the trouble!
Fantastic! The video you made was a pure joy to watch all the way through. I wish you would have made it to Monument Valley, but maybe that's for me to do. Lots of doubling back but you stuck to the continuity and it sold the idea that the viewer is following you on your trip. The music was fantastic too. It really fit the bill. Thanks for taking the time. Take care.
I have to agree with a lot of people's comments, this is definitely one of the best UA-cam videos I have ever seen! It has always been a dream of mine to tour the west. My heart was racing at a lot of your footage! Brilliant work bro! Thanks for sharing, very inspirational! Peace!
If you didn’t know God before these tours I know you sure found him exploring his beautiful handy work. God bless you man. Such a free spirit and an inspiration to many.
Such spectacular footage, and such a wonderful ride and hike adventure. You continue to amaze me, Forest! Glad I got to your YT home page to find all of these--all amazing so far!
I've been binge watching all your videos and I'm so sad they are coming to an end as I've watched nearly all of them! Love seeing these amazing places you visit and you are correct, driving is too fast and hiking is too slow, this is just perfect! Look forward to your next adventure!!
Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the effort to take this footage. There are beautiful places I know lll never see in person, so it’s great to get such an intimate feel for them.
Stumbled upon this video, been watching for more than a few months for sure! Noticed you smile a lot more in this video, keep your smiles and chin up because we all love your videos! love to relax and enjoy watching your videos after work!
If I've watched this vid before, I must have missed some things. Fantastic view, thanks. I hiked up to Eagle Peak by way of Yosemite Falls trail in the late 90's. I was going to go on over to El Capitan, but ran out of daylight. It was in the spring and not far past the falls, where the terrain leveled somewhat, I encountered a series of snowdrifts, some taller than me. The runoff was deep and taking the trail in places. These areas I skirted cross country and lost the trail a couple times. It was a great adventure. The view from Eagle Peak was outstanding. I was above the clouds and could see Half Dome in the distance. Would like to do it again and this time make it to the top of El Cap. Your camera work and editing are superb. Thanks for sharing.
Wow great video, almost wish that you could do it again, making way more videos and actually talking... anyway I am enjoying watching all your older videos since you are on break... take care until we see you again
without a shadow of doubt you are my all time favourite tourer' I can't give you enough credit' your trips can add a third on just going back to get your camera. if you ever want to come to England give me a holla 🚲
You must love going to death valley :). The rattle snake did not like you taking pictures of him, he is in his defense mode. Another great video, just binge watching all your great videos.
Fantastic video. Thank you for making it, and sharing it. You captured some amazing shots in there. I felt like I was along with you for the ride. :) Made my day
This is my new favorite vid of yours! Which is very hard because all your vids are of the highest quality and content!! How on earth did I miss this one??
Stunning quality. As someone who has no editing skills, I really admire this. I like that you stayed with the same vibe and music as you went. You had to have faith your camera would be there when you got back. Did you overnight just on your bike? The Oregon coast brings tears to my eyes. I worked there in winter of 96 when they had a hundred year flood plain. They needed about a hundred Canadian phone techs to help USWest get 170,000 phone lines restored. The Willamette river rose 28 feet! We saw whole sections of homes vanish from mud slides. It was quite a change. Did you go out to Haystack Rock? Tell me you didn’t afford yourself of the opportunity to do something very few get to. If I only was in good as shape as you and your youth. I will have to concede you are not wasting your youth.
AWSOME! Excellent trip and footage! Thinking on all the extra effort you made to take those shots! But it was worthwhile! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Damn that is one hell of a long way on a pedal bike!!! I could see a motorcycle or automobile but on a bicycle blows my mind! I give you lots of credit tho wow great video:)
This was the first video I watched on your channel, one of the best bike tour videos I've seen. And then I just happened to click on one of your van life/hiking videos. The rest is history...lol. Coincidentally this trip was the time (September/October 2014) that I did a bike tour from Vancouver to the Mexican border, but I did it down the soft coastal route (craft beer & salty Fritos every night / Safeway & Starbucks every morning) instead of the extreme wilderness route. Maybe we passed each other somewhere on the Oregon coast :-)
I've often wondered what Foresty must be thinking on those long trips 💭 That great mind of his🤗Got awfuly close to the rattlesnake 😬 The rocks by MtDavid were awesome. The down hill bike tick was funny until the ouch 😂 Loved the Oregon coast footage.. I want to go. Your family must be proud of you. I know i am. May the adventures never end 😍🌱💙
When I feel like I'm getting to Wanderlust like I'm beginning to feel like I want to hit the road again and I don't know that I'm going to so vicariously I hit the road through your videos make sure you stay up with them and you keep them on UA-cam how you making out with you other project and if you change your mind on future cycling tours
Hey just found your channel and am catching up on your videos. This one is truly outstanding. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Mud season here in Vermont. Slows the biking down some. Take care, Al

it's amazing how you ride hundreds of miles, then you take a long hike along the way!
Gotta hand it to you buddy. You are one brave soul. Your journey, is freedom, and it doesn't get any better than this.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
+forestyforest Just out of curiousity man, how do you have time to do this? I'd love to be able but work is a drag.
+Matt Vallejo Yep work is a drag. I have quit my last three jobs to go touring. So far I've never had a problem getting back on my feet. song name!!
Amazing. You captured moments that really describe a sense of self awareness. Thanks.
This video is amazing. Foresty's camera work was stellar from the start of his channel. A three month bicycle trip in 20 minutes, wow!
This may be the best touring video I have seen. Uncluttered and to the point. Excellent Camera work and composition. Nice choice of music....very "into the wild". Very well done . Cudos. Now to get off the couch and do it myself.
I agreed. It takes lots and lots of work to do what he did. Great job. Personally, I would prefer listen to him talk tan read. It seems more personal.
Yeah a lot more personal I don't do any of the reading I just pay attention to the video and the music and his type is real small I have a hard time seeing it I have mentioned it in the past definitely I like when he talks
"Into the wild for sure!" 1st thing that crossed my mind!✌
Epic camera work. Great music. Thank you.
The neatest aspect to Simon's work (his name) is its consistency. I have this one saved. The marina at Lake Mead is no longer available.
You the man Forest! The intro of this video brought a tear to my eye, why! I don't know, maybe it was the hard day on the roof or maybe it's the couple of beers and the few shots after work? When I want to watch a relaxing video I can always count on you Forest, Thanks Forest!
Phe-nom-in-al. Recently came across your channel and have been binging it all. Magic travel, massive thanks for the hard work
Great photo of you against the mountain back drop. Happy for you.
I’m so blown away by this video!! I get so inspired by people like FF. We limit ourselves by our unbelief…thank you!! ❤️❤️

So that's how you stay so slim.
Amazing! So inspirational! I wish more of you're viewers would watch your older vids. I miss seeing you on a bike before you had a van. Hopefully someday these boarders will reopen and you can get back down here in the US. Much love and respect f.f.🥇😎✌🌌
From a true adventurer I get to see earth’s beauty one video at a time. ❤️
ohh these were the early years!!
Home boi was doing Tour De America’s before van life !!
It has been fun traveling back through time via his videos, since I was introduced to his channel and adventures.
Man the cuts are so rough transition and annoying non sequential. Kept going back and forth to the river crossing.
Along with absolute admiration for the journey, I also admire your patience in collecting these edits. Over 20 mins of video and only a few seconds of hand held footage. Well done... a pleasure to watch.
Superb effort! You have left us this wonderful video to view many times. Many, many thanks!
Absolutely amazing...this is probably the best video that I have ever seen on youtube. This must have been an amazing experience.
mikefly562 Thanks, glad you liked it!
@@forestyforest you are the man i just go back and back to see how far you came in your life .but keep that raw man alive
Thanks for these videos, it's really nice to take them in whilst the world has gone mad.

I’m watching some of your older videos and really enjoying it! Great way for a couch potato to see the world!
Great footage. Not only did you ride a million miles, you scaled several peaks along the way. Totally entertaining and inspiring.

Thanks for documenting your journey on video to share with the rest of us! Awesome stuff.
Hey just found your channel and am catching up on your videos. This one is truly outstanding. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Mud season here in Vermont. Slows the biking down some. Take care, Al
Great camera work- love your videos- some fireside chats in your camp sites would be cool too.👍🏼👍🏼
Oh yeah- That’s a bad hat man- it rocks
