I love how NOTHING is filtered out when Rare's looking for a name. Names such as "Diddy Girl Kong" or "Dhali Lama Kong" would never be appropriate as the final name of "Dixie Kong", yet they write it down anyway. Likely just to get it out of their head and narrow the ideas down.
IT’S FINALLY HERE, AND ABOUT TIME TOO (That second part was meant to be a reference to the DK Rap, not complaining that the video took so long, take your time!)
I just read this on the DKC fandom wiki, but apparently on Steve and Greg Mayles' twitter, Winky never re-appeared because they hated him, and they literally said so. Which is hilarious but also explains why he was taxidermied and never reappeared. EDIT: Also, Cranky Kong says in DK64's manual that he hopes Expresso and Winky would reappear and not Rambi. I guess he didn't know...
Reasonable. I really thought he was just a hinderance in DKC 1, because his constant hop-walking slipped me off the stage too often. It was easier to tell where you'd land and when you're on ground when you're just the Kongs.
I was totally surprised you didn't mention the absolutely iconic fact of Stickerbush Symphony almost never making it into the game at all. It was originally intended for basic water levels, but the game never had any of those, so it sat on the shelf until the very final week of development where it was inserted for the bramble theme because those didn't have a song yet. It's an honest miracle it made it in, and I think everyone is more grateful for it.
I feel like one bit of trivia that wasn't mentioned was the name for the Mining Level's music "Mining Melancholy" is not the official name and is fanmade since it never appeared on the DKC2 soundtrack.
@@MishKozokay so little update though you probably have already heard, the track has now been officially named as "Kannon's Klanking" on the NSO Music app.

Wow, I never thought the guy who’s credited with popularizing icebergs would still be making them. I’m actually incredibly grateful for this trend. Despite the sometimes annoying idiotic entries, this video format has been a fountain of knowledge for me. Thank you for popularizing it, even if you didn’t intend to.
Your points about Nintendo and Sega's rivalry made me realize that Donkey Kong and Yoshi are the only ones being more up-front giving spades to Sonic in their games, while Mario is just in the background gaining the credit. Naturally he's the face and mascot of Nintendo, but Mario vs Sonic was so overblown not enough people have noticed Mario barely did anything.
I have to be that guy and point out that Klaptrap, Klampon, and Krimp have functional differences in addition to their cosmetic differences. Klaptrap cant be killed with a roll, period. Klampon can be killed with a roll, if you roll from above. Krimps can be killed by a roll from above or behind. Klaptrap was my favorite enemy as a child, to the point where I made a paper puppet of one. Wish I still had it.
Glad to hear about the Kremcoin trick. I never went far in this game because I don't like how it forces you to collect so many trinkets to see the true ending.
11:28Someone already pointed out by the Wii games, the character-specific barrels all had initials that could accidently sound like naughty words, but i never got over the OG Donkey Kong cartoon calling Dixie "DIX" as a nickname.
DUDE YES!!!!!!!! I've been waiting so long for the second part cause that first one is so freaking good and a great step forward for your "Iceberg" style.
English is not my first language, so for years I thought that "Diddy's Kong Quest" was a typo or a mistranslation of some sort bc I couldn't register that it was meant to be a pun. I only figured it out after looking up the soundtrack online and realising that this was the actual name of the game.
I'm glad you're still around to make these types of videos, they're very cozy, enjoyable and makes want to see more as the time goes by. Also I believe the DKC2 and Killer Instinct connection might even come as far back as the first DKC, Funky Kong's theme was a scrapped song from KI that ended up in DKC1 instead. I find it funny that Killer Instinct was probably the only game that carried over in the arcades advertising the N64 as the Ultra 64 officially before they changed it's name for the more recognizable Nintendo 64.
Silvia Gunner has done a DKC2 soundfont cover of In the Air Tonight and it sounds outstanding. Worth checking out. And I've never seen the render of 13:40 (including a relatively rare front view of the Kongs) or those early level concept notes so it's great to see that there's somehow stuff from the DKC games that I still don't know about. Also, I think KI's composer did do some stuff for DKC, most specifically Funky's first theme.
I'm glad that you mentioned the unused ghost pirate Kremling and Rareware's diss on Earthworm Jim in this video. I also had no idea that Uncle Kong even existed. Anyways, I'll look forward to a *Not a Donkey Kong Country 3 Iceberg* video in the next year or so:)
Goddamn, the wait was worth it , really enjoyed this one , most of them I knew about, but the concept art and names were new discovers to me , very excited for the dkc3 iceberg, whenever that comes out
When I was a kid and got this I always thought it was Diddy Kong's Quest. Then recently fired it up on emulator and noticed... I was like huh... that's stupid, I'm still calling it Diddy Kongs Quest
0:00 Man what a harsh statement, maybe I could forgive it if he acknowledged how insulting it is and clarified that it's the truth but alas, he did not
Dear god I must be dreaming the first one is already nostalgic at this point lol never thought this would happen. I love you Mr. X. I would love to see you talk about 64 ever if you care about it. There is an absurd amount of interesting and weird things about it people have always been trying to document and solve. I just made a huge iceberg on it last holiday season even after I made a video about lost media over its website dktv (not the same as the shorts based on the cartoon) after someone informed me about it. It is my old childhood game so biased even more so than the dkc trilogy. It's dkc (6)4 in my heart. I still love it's atmosphere, aesthetic, music, vibe and all and have been playing the randomizer a lot.
I will say, Sonic never really had vertical levels like DKC2 and DKC3. SMB2 and Sonic and Knuckles had a lot of vertical sections though, but that's around equal.
I guess what I should have/would have said is that Sonic games used their vertical space more than Mario games generally did (most zones have at least one top and bottom route). DKC levels don't have that, but they do also use vertical space more than Mario.
I'm sorry this is only 720p 😭 If I rendered it in 1080p it would have taken over 8 hours.
That's the cost of making the video 60fps instead of 30fps😔
I don't care that it's 720p, i would have watched it if was at a laggy 30 fps in 144p
If it’s 720p that’s fine, if the video is here that is amazing
720p is cool and retro or some shit idk
Unforgivable. Unsubscribed. Try a little harder, noob
someone get this man a gpu

The long awaited sequel has arrived!
IT’S FINALLY HERE, AND ABOUT TIME TOO
(That second part was meant to be a reference to the DK Rap, not complaining that the video took so long, take your time!)
Robin Beanland, the composer of KI, did contribute one song to DKC1 but that's about it as far as direct crossover between them goes
I just read this on the DKC fandom wiki, but apparently on Steve and Greg Mayles' twitter, Winky never re-appeared because they hated him, and they literally said so. Which is hilarious but also explains why he was taxidermied and never reappeared.

That's a really cool fact! I didn't know that, and I'll definitely have to add that to the script of the next Donkey Kong video.
he actually followed up on his promise to deliver peak part 2, i was watching part 1 earlier this year and hoping this would come out, awesome stuff

Ooh I was looking forward to this video! Sorry to hear it was such a bastard to produce, but I like how it turned out!
11:28Someone already pointed out by the Wii games, the character-specific barrels all had initials that could accidently sound like naughty words, but i never got over the OG Donkey Kong cartoon calling Dixie "DIX" as a nickname.
This is the game of my life. Sure I love all the games of the Rare trilogy, but DK2 just has something about it that I can't put in words.
Honey! Mish Koz uploaded!! Get the popcorn!!!

Im glad you got this one done. Loved the first dkc vid. Great video. Can't wait for the eventually third vid.
When we needed him most, he returned 🔥🔥🔥

Those scrapped names for Dixie are absolutely hysterical 🤣 Should’ve been Diddy and Dumpy!

in DKC1, Funky’s Fugue was used as trailer music for killer instinct! Or vice versa, I can’t remember.
Goddamn, the wait was worth it , really enjoyed this one , most of them I knew about, but the concept art and names were new discovers to me , very excited for the dkc3 iceberg, whenever that comes out
The king returns at last…
I really love the dk series these videos are so good
14:04 They do the same taxidermy gag with Banjo/Kazooie in Conker's BFD 🥹
It's great to see you again! I always wanted to get into this franchise.
Good return, can't wait to comment this again when you dissapear for another year
Unless things go _majorly_ wrong in real life, I'll definitely be uploading more frequently. No year-long breaks.
Based and kong pilled
Happy to see a come-back!!! Love the video
Love your work Mishu-kun. The voice quality in this one is really good, what kind of microphone to you use these days?
Same one as always, Blue Snowball iCE
A other banger from one of the only good youtubers also make more videos my video tummy asks for them.
When I was a kid and got this I always thought it was Diddy Kong's Quest. Then recently fired it up on emulator and noticed... I was like huh... that's stupid, I'm still calling it Diddy Kongs Quest
Am looking forward to the possibility of more frequent videos :v

At least we didn’t have to wait 9 years for the Donkey Kong 2 BONUS video.
Then I'd REALLY be Canadian Cybershell
Excelent video!
LIFE IS GOOD, FUCK YES THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
Another Mishu Dub! Lookin forward to seeing more videos again!
I’m looking forward to the donkey Kong Country 3 trivia.
Upon rewatching this vid i can smell the Cybershell influence from a mile away
Worth the wait
A gold statue of expresso can be seen to the right of winky in monkey museum
I thought it was Diddy Kong's Quest for the longest time... Then I actually read the title screen and felt like a fool
Creaking Skull
Creaking Skull
Diddy's Search for a Toupee or Some Hair Restorer and Some Underpants would have been a way better subtitle.

I always assumed Mr. X would be pronounced "Kross"
Uncle Kong is my husband.
The dkc1 zingers in dkc2 aren’t that unnoticeable, as the dkc1 versions have orange paws and the dkc2 ones have yellow paws
How did I miss part 2 until now?
Hooray.

With all due respect, this was definetley one of your weaker videos. I wouldn't recommend that you make videos unless you actually want to make them.
I appreciate the honest feedback, and I agree
Holy shit I love gaming in th Clinton years
