He wears the bucket and mask because he has severe anxiety, and wearing the whole mask and bucket is the only way he can go out and do what he loves! Truly an iconic, makes some of the greatest music I’ve ever heard
@Frozen Pizza They kicked him out! Buckethead can play guitar better than anyone ever and they kicked him out because he was making the popular guitar players look bad.
Thanks for the info! Maybe he joined for the experience and intended to leave from the beginning or maybe they paid him like 10 grand a night and he signed up for that cash.
@Frozen Pizza every word true, he is a Mozart of sorts. He's true to his craft in the same way that Rory Gallagher was, unconcerned with notions of fame and fortune, it was all about the music, the audience and his fans.
Soothsayer is a real emotional one for Buckethead, it's dedicated to his late Aunt Suzie who actually bought him and gave him his first guitar aged 12. When she passed, he wrote Soothsayer for her as a means to tribute her and thank her for setting him on his life's path.
@@L3monSqueezy Personally prefer this live version though. Of course the emotions are still there when recording, but it's a whole different level in this for me. You can FEEL the emotion in each strum, each pull, each hammer on, etc.
Anybody can get up on stage with a guitar and a bucket on his head and be a fool, but only a genius can do that and deliver a performance you’ll never forget 🎸⚡️
I saw him as part of Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston almost 20 years ago. He played an incredible solo of the Star Wars theme. The weirdest part was when he put on a realistic, but over sized, Michael Jackson mask and the started doing the robot. He’s so tall and lanky it was just strange, but the show was incredible
Just FYI, from Wikipedia: "Buckethead has released 30 regular solo albums, as well as 294 albums in the "Pikes Series", for 325 albums overall." The guy has been a machine when it comes to making music. Many of his songs are in this legato style, with the interspersed shredding. It's definitely music for a mood. I like listening to it at work. Since it is instrumental, it doesn't affect my ability to read and write reports.
Nah man, you can't compare Buckethead with Slash. Slash is a classic rock guitarist, and his background is deeply rooted in working with vocalists. His riffs and solos are crafted to complement and enhance the vocals. Big B, on the other hand, is a fulltime-devoted solo guitarist. He's literally a guitar scientist, so of course he's a better guitar player than Slash.
Buckethead is a really strange dude, but he's a legit musical genius. He's got about 400 albums (yes, albums!) and his music spans everything from metal to easy listening and just about anything in between. But as great as his technical skills are, his compositional skills are perhaps even greater. He has so much great music it's ridiculous. He's the GOAT!
@@holliswilliams8426 Absolutely. I don't care much for many of his weird, dissonant, experimental type stuff (and he has a lot of it), but he's got so many really good ones. Poseidon is probably my favorite of all. I've never heard a rock instrumental by anyone else that can compare.
Buckethead is one of the most skilled guitarists to ever live, he's entertaining in general but if you've ever played guitar or any other instrument, you really get blown away extra by how clean his playing is. Dude is playing with high gain so mistakes will be way more noticeable, and he's playing in the dark with a mask on and he still kills it, what a legend.
I'm more of a jazz fusion player, and never thought I'd see a guitar 'god' again to be fair. Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth made me want to quit, Pat Metheney's harmonic knowledge and skill is truly sublime and scares me to this day, George Benson can groove like a demon, but Buckethead is such a fascinating guy with unbelievable skills and has the added 'cool' factor [which totally came about by accident], so I guess I was wrong. Buckethead. The Last Guitar Hero.
Cartier Family, never saw your channel but can’t tell you how happy this made me. Buckethead is a true genius of our time. All he does is make music and doesn’t speak (much) He has over 400 albums and worked with System of a Down, Primus, Steve Vai, Bootsy Collins, chilled with Snoop Dogg, done music for Dragon Ball Z, Power Rangers, Ghosts of Mars, video games, etc. I am so glad you guys found him because he has thousands of songs. You guys just found enough music to last the rest of your life LOL! He covers all kinds of genres even hip hop, he LOVES Wu Tang Clan! He is my favorite guitarists of all time. I play guitar, he is like a super hero to me and my kids love him too. He can say more with a guitar than most can with words. Subscribed! Check out his other stuff it’s so damn epic. You can’t pick a wrong song to hear it’s amazing !
At 67 years old, BH has become my favorite musician. He is literally a national treasure, and his fans appreciate him for his humanity as much as for his skills. Thanks for sharing this. Do a deep dive some time and find yourself in awe.
As a guitar player, its always reassuring when a non-player audience is so impressed with something before it even gets to the solo like when you guys were at 2 mins. We're always in so much awe of eachother and over critical of ourselves that we forget that just strumming a few melodic notes can be impressive to people. Glad you guys enjoyed that. Buckethead is a legend and carved his own lane in the game.
Some of the most beautiful playing is slow. It's art, not athletics. Nice to be able to let rip sometimes though, but to be able to do it so effortlessly, and with passion, takes more work than most people are prepared to put in. I've done my 10,000 hours [and I'm pretty agile] but I'm not even close. Then again who is? Enjoy him while you can. He has heart problems as a result of the intense anxiety he suffers. He's had 2 heart operations already. 😪
I've seen him more than 20 times. He robot dances, moonwalks, and gives out toys to people in the front row. He's 6 ft 8 and never talks while in the Buckethead persona. You mentioned Slash - Buckethead was with Guns 'n Roses for four years and completed 9 of the 12 tracks on the Chinese Democracy album. He is from California and has recorded over 400 solo albums, as well as projects with approximately 80 other artists/groups.
This guy is a guitar legend. It's hard to find anyone at all more in touch or capable with his guitar. This dude can "sing" with a guitar. I saw him live a few years ago and it's a whole experience, highly recommend checking out everything you can by the dude. \m/
Thank you guys for doing this.He is the goat. He just recently had all his guitars stolen what a shame.check out "enter the chicken" his album with all the singers.
Buckethead is a legit artist, he has a real name obviously but Buckethead is the character he created over 30 years ago and has created a whole lore around the character. He's never been interested in fame or fortune and damn near invented the style that he's been rocking for decades and his catalogue of over 50 albums spans a wide variety of musical genres, which he makes basically all by himself. The dude is a prodigy and plays the guitar like he breathes air. Probably one of the greatest, most unique musicians to ever touch a guitar, even if the music isn't for everyone 👍 Check out "Nottingham Lace" "Jordan" or my personal favourite "Buckethead - the early years" which is one of the earliest videos of him in 1991 playing in the backyard to his friends and family! Much love, keep it up! edit: He played for Guns n Roses on one tour when Axl Rose was running the band iirc. Eddie Van Halen was also a big influence of Buckethead obviously, being one of the og 80s tap guitarists
Over 50 albums? Well over 350 albums, actually. Pike #351 was just released today (although the 25+ pikes released over the past two months have all been live compilations). Anyway, just an absurd amount of fantastic material he's created.
Are you pumping his lore? Just kidding, I actually found about about bucket head when I was dj'ing of all things. No one could ignore these insane sounds and riffs this dude made.

Cartier Family, I like hanging out with you cats! That's what watching your videos feels like, just hanging out. Buckethead is a genius-level artist with a HUGE catalog of studio and live albums, the total count stands at well over 300 albums at the time of this writing. I've got to hip you guys to another genius-level guitarist - Eric Gales. He's a left-handed player, but unlike 99% of left handers who either play a left-handed guitar or string a right-handed guitar upside down (like Hendrix did), Gales plays a right-handed guitar upside down. If you like Stevie Ray Vaughan, you'll like this dude. Anything live clip you find will be great, but I strongly recommend the "Voodoo Child/Kashmir/Back In Black Medley".

Buckethead is one of the best ever, he made a song called "Jordan" to be the hardest song on Guitar Hero 2 But if you're looking for more guitarists then Steve Vai's "Tender Surrender" is one of the best guitar performances ever
Buckethead is amazing! Saw him in concert twice. Colma is an amazing album with soothing, beautiful music. Giant Robot will blow you away, so much fun!!
This was one of my childhood musical inspirations and he is the reason i learned to play guitar. My older brother and I learned lots of his songs while learning to play
Buckethead has over 300 studio albums of original work. Dudes a modern day Mozart. Hes a huge basketball fan. Hes got several songs dedicated to Jordan and Lebron.
Some of the live performances with Les Claypool are pure gold, such as Col. Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. There is a clip called Buckethead Dueling Banjos which is really Buckethead doing freestyle bluegrass on a Flying V. He's the grandmaster.
Check out his happy birthday MJ song. He does a whole comic book series of cds called pikes. View masters and eerie canal are great just off the top. This guy was making a cd a day. For two years… he’s the best imo because of that.
This was hella smooth. Ty. Nvr heard buckethead b4. Yall need to check david gilmours solo from Pink Floyd Live In Pompei. What this man can do with so few notes is astounding. Less is more, do more with less philosophy
I'm legit convinced that his guitar is just a second half of him. Listening to his Pike albums and normal albums all together, it seems like he just spends his time in some cave just playing constantly, his work ethic is legitimately insane. He once turned down an offer to work with Ozzy Osbourne because Ozzy wanted him to take the bucket off.
If you ever read Ozzy's memoirs, I Am Ozzy, he mentions this briefly and hilariously. Something along the lines of "I asked him to take the bucket off, then when I came back he'd taken off the bucket and put on a fucking green martian's hat! He plays like a motherfucker, though."
🎉 Yes I’ve been commenting on every video 😂 But I love these songs you chose to listen to ❤These songs bring back so many memories ❤ And actually he’s my son’s favorite guitarist ❤ There’s so much feeling in this. Purely amazing ❤
I was lucky enough to see him live. Dude blew my mind from the beginning to the end. He replaced slash for one album in guns and roses. The dude was anonymous for years until he replaced slash. If you ever get the chance to see him live please do not pass up the opportunity.
Theee master himself, great choice gentlemen, Mr. Buckethead was brilliant during his time as lead guitarist for GUNS N’ ROSES he put up some ridiculous 5-star solos on GNR’s Chinese Democracy album yu might wanna check it😎🙏🏼
I saw him in NYC around 5 years ago. He shredded as expected, gave us a nunchuck display, and gave out a bunch of gifts to the fans. Epic show.
I think I was at that show..
I saw him back in 08 & that was his show back then too
hahha
Brian is also a nunchuker? That's makes him even more cool.
That makes anyone and everyone cool as eff!! 💚!
He wears the bucket and mask because he has severe anxiety, and wearing the whole mask and bucket is the only way he can go out and do what he loves! Truly an iconic, makes some of the greatest music I’ve ever heard
And he could of played with ozzy, red hot chili peppers, and a handful of other bands but got turned down cause he wouldnt remove the bucket

Soothsayer is a real emotional one for Buckethead, it's dedicated to his late Aunt Suzie who actually bought him and gave him his first guitar aged 12. When she passed, he wrote Soothsayer for her as a means to tribute her and thank her for setting him on his life's path.

But if you're looking for more guitarists then Steve Vai's "Tender Surrender" is one of the best guitar performances ever
No bucket head is
Buckethead is amazing! Saw him in concert twice. Colma is an amazing album with soothing, beautiful music. Giant Robot will blow you away, so much fun!!
Yes Finally you have stepped up!
This dude is a goat.
You guys need to check out Paul Gilbert! I’d suggest either Viking Kong or Scarified! He actually taught buckethead way back when he was starting out.
This was one of my childhood musical inspirations and he is the reason i learned to play guitar. My older brother and I learned lots of his songs while learning to play
Saw bucket the first time back in '02 playing with Les Claypool of Primus the were called Bucket of bernie brains and multiple times after by himself.
He's so chill when he plays... It's pure emotions with sound rather than words
I used to rock Buckethead like no tomorrow. So SO SO good. He scares the sh!t outta me, but I love his music.
Buckethead is a legend, glad guitar hero put one of his songs on the game. Another 🔥 solo is Slash godfather live in Argentina 1992
I love you guys, subscribed due to the genuineness!
You know it's good when everyone stops and just listens
Great job, guys!
I feel like you appreciate all kinds of music, regardless of genre. You appreciate the MUSIC. That's what I like about you guys.
Purely amazing ❤
the solo for the song jordan by buckethead is unlike any guitar solo made by anyone else on this planet.
Buckethead was brilliant during his time as lead guitarist for GUNS N’ ROSES he put up some ridiculous 5-star solos on GNR’s Chinese Democracy album yu might wanna check it😎🙏🏼
This song is absolutely incredible! 🔥
Check out Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb - From Pulse Concert in 1994. The second Solo is the best Guitar Solo of all time.
You guys are fun...love your vids---Thank you.
You guys should really do a reaction to live drum cam recording Tool - Pneuma and watch Danny Carey murder the drums
