R.I.P. my first Adobe Hut is in Ruins

- In 2018 I finished building the first hut. I used it as a shelter for practicing primitive skills for more than three years. It endured a few more years after and proved to me the resilience of a primitive structure but then something happened.

Considering it’s been vandalized twice now it would be safer to let it go. I can understand the sentimental value and not wanting to let it go after you put so much effort and some of yourself into it, but your safety comes first.
I agree.
@@user-ci2mn1oy3w you're sharp as a bowling ball huh
Good grief ' Theonlykirby' ... Safety first... Chad, like most men could fight off the cowardly wreckers if he chose to if he ever had a problem. The wreckers are sad dunder heads 99.9% of who are cowardly annnnnd stupid. It is Woke America and fiat currency that is/ are the real danger... to the whole planet. As far as I can tell we are in the late stages of this civilisation and just like the Roman Empire we are heading for a mighty....? Put on your big boy pants and kick sand ... Cherry regards from Ivan in New Zealand.
Was probably some dumb kid or a drunk i wouldn't be to worried
Probably was done by drug addict. They can be very unpredictable.
What a bummer, very sad others can't leave the things others create in peace. I would admire a place like this and leave it.
That's exactly how I feel. I have stumbled upon other shelters in the past and I just looked at them, admired them, and left. It's disgraceful and ignorant to deliberately damage such a find.
It may have been some kids playing there maybe leave a sign with youre youtubechannel name there and let them know how you feel? 🤔
It wont work, thugs will always be thugs.@@violakrone8429
@@violakrone8429let them know how he feels? Really? You think they give a rats azz how he feels people who vandilize dont care about you or youre feelings they just like to destroy stuff that belongs to others for fun. Its wild how a majority of people dont understand human nature and think that anyone cares about anyones feelings as far as this goes. I do personally feel bad for his loss on such a fine shelter iv been watching him almost since he started and was doing survival stuff and traveling videos. But come on man common sense says the sign wouldnt matter and i know that personally from experience and having others vandilize my property. Hand built a civil war cabine only for others to set light to it rebuild it again and have the same thing happen.
I don't think you need to repair the hut. It has given you and all of us here many wonderful and memorable moments that will stay with us. It was very healing and uplifting to see how this hut was created, built, designed and used under your hands. I still remember you lying in the hut with a homemade drink and looking so content. It is of course very sad when other people don't recognize or understand this project and the result is destruction. But that doesn't change the fact that this hut is a monument to a meaningful and sustainable existence. Thank you for your vision and I hope you don't see this situation as a loss.
I learned a lot here and it used to be dear to me but I'm totally detached from it now. However, I am thinking about getting some honey.
i dont know if it is worth rebuilding it, if the intruders know where it is they might come back to destroy it again
That's exactly how I feel. I would like to use it again but I can't trust people.
You are pretty smart chad zuber
@@ChadZuberAdventures perhaps if you did repair it and made it seem more lived in, if the people ever came back they might leave it alone. How long has it been since it was vandalized? It would be cool to see you get some honey too.
@@ChadZuberAdventures would it be worth moving anything useful to a more secluded nearby spot and starting again there maybe?
I do not understand why some people just vandalize, for no reason. Much love my brother, have a great day.
Because they themselves are failures and hate to see people succeed.
I don't think it was vandalism. I think someone went exploring into the hut, angered the bees in the chimney, and broke the door/doorway on their way out, possibly dmaging the fire pit and wash station on their way if they had any gear or equipment placed on or against those structures. Vandals would have done far more damage, left grafitti and/or defaced the Maya glyphs painted inside, and wouldn't have cared to put their garbage in the fire pit which they decided to use as a trash can.
@@Eidolon1andOnly You've definitely watched too many cartoons.
I was going to comment something similar, I can't understand why you wouldn't just think a thing like the was really cool to stumble across. I can't get myself in the head of someone who would find this and have the urge to destroy it (or try to) but I suppose some people are truly troubled.
@Eidolon1andOnly Hahahah, that's so funny because I thought the same scenario. A guy could have been in the hut and then got attacked by bees and then freaked out, rushed out, hit his head on the beam above the door, got pissed off and pulled the beam off then took a rock and started pounding the fireplace then threw his beverage on the ground and ran off.
Chad, it's a sad time when destruction overrides preservation. If you rebuild you need to spend more time there. I will tell you this. Yesterday I drove by where I grew up and thought about where I am now. I don't belong there anymore. Whatever you do I will still support you ❤❤❤
Yeah, I hear you loud and clear. I have no attachment to the old hut anyway. I do like to visit once in a while just to observe the effects of erosion over time and admire the durability of adobe walls. I may fix it just enough to preserve it longer. It would be nice to harvest some honey too.
An artifact of habitation, a humble abode for a human, now a condo for honeybees, does not need restoration, just appreciation.
and a crackhead's playground
I had made a wooden cabin in a small forest when i was younger.. after a while i saw People vandalised it and after thinking about it i decided to completely destroy it my self. This is the best way to let something go. That way you wont have the bad feeling that someone destroyed your work.
A part of life is rebuilding
That's true, but we must rebuild intelligently.
Feels like a real mix of a humble "Memento Mori" and a somehow also a happier Ozymandias...
Love and Respect to you Brother.
Thanks for going back and sharing! ❤ it’s like visiting an ancient ruins, especially with the pottery and other stuff left over.
Hahaha, it's funny that it's like an archaeological site now.

Back home in the Canadian north, you could go on lakes and rivers by boat/canoe and find cabins to camp at, where people use some supplies and leave others,
There were notes written on anything you can imagine to thank the owner, say hello to next visitor, tell what has been used and what was left in exchange. And how the fishing went.
No one destroyed anything, some even fixed things.
I am not sure if this is still like that, I have not been for too many years, but I can tell you here in the USA you can't leave anything for a few days, it will be destroyed or stolen.
Sad world we live in
I doubt they could resist returning to undo further efforts. You already moved on and made an amazing new place. Perfect moment to ponder detatchment
No tengo rabia tampoco.
Whatever you decide Chad, thank you for offering this content to us. I followed the entire construction of this hut and I enjoyed every episode of it. Don't give up and keep doing your amazing work!
Definitely honey. That's how nature works... symbiotic.
I personally don't think you should rebuilt it, because you already have other place to attend to. But of course it's up to you. Vandalism is inevitable in our modern society, sadly. But people like you, Chad, are really teaching everyone to admire nature, hard primitive work and simple things. I rewatch sometimes old videos you did, somehow the video about rainy day at this hut is touching my soul. Thank you!
Salvage what you can of the brick and pots and rebuild in a new area.
You'll still have the wonderful energy from the original bricks and can now build new memories. I've learned a lot from you, don't stop now.
Steady forward progress, friend!
What a human being do, others can destroy it. You are a good part of humanity my friend, you are a builder, not a destroyer.
It’s the reality of the world
Such a cool shelter. Sorry about the loss.
This is sad news, but in the end your work and your memories will remain eternally in the videos you made and that’s just impossible to destroy!
Better to leave it behind and go somewhere else to make other memories 😉 .
I am French and the English is not my strong point sorry.
Amazed there are those in this world that destroy something over admiring the art in itself.
Seeing the trash and destruction its nice of you to say another human. I will leave it at that. You earned my subscription.
It's a sad fact of life, that there are humans who have no respect for properties. It's a fact that many people have no idea how old any particular structure is. I'm surprised your canteen was still at this location. Thanks for your most interesting video & all the best.
If only they could have been astounded and appreciated what was before them. Imagune exploring and finding a while hut with the extras around. I'd cherish that and keep it sacred and safe. Awesome video. Love your vibes man
My goodness. Chad, the plastic cups is the strongest evidence the damage was not from any animal other than human. Someone has found that (your) location so I would not repair it for that reason. They know where it is. If they were disrespectful enough to damage it once, the likely hood of them coming back (or have told someone else how to get to it), it may be damaged again. They were also disrespectful to the environment leaving cups on site. Lord knows how much more litter they have left along the way to and around the area. I know it means a lot to you. Is there any way to discourage intruders? You have been as secretive as humanly possible. I support which ever decision you make and wish every cactus thorn upon them.
We're all very proud of that hut for you .
What a sad turn of events. I loved that hut, you worked so hard and did a wonderful job. I am so sorry.
Your hut is immortal. You documented its construction very well.
It has just recently been renovated by bees, thus its purpose is still in effect. Dont be sad. You've created something beautiful, and that is worthy & honorable.
I'm not sad. I'm totally detached from this place. I just want to observe the effects of time on this structure.
Oh.ok. You'd said you were disturbed to see the entrance in ruins and I saw R.I.P in the description and jumped to conclusions. I would've been a little upset. You put a fair amount of time in its construction.
Sad to see. But it looks like what happens to any building that is abandoned and not maintained. If you will be splitting your time, in the wild, between your 2 abode huts....then yes, rebuild. Wishing you all the best in your projects Chad 🤞🙏❤
Yeah, I really can't afford to do that.
@@ChadZuberAdventures I hear you. Keep enjoying Adobe 2
People are always the worst. Dont think you should fix it up how they know the location. They might just come back to vandalize it again.
That's how I feel.
It's awful how people are so disrespectful of other's belongings. My parents taught us : If it's yours, take care of it. If it's not yours, take better care of it."
I would say retore it, and use the hive to guard the structure, do it as a project.
Before I moved to my farm things often got broken and stolen, putting bees in certain locations was a good deterrent and my things stopped being taken or broken.
That's a good point. Because of the bees they may not come back.
I enjoyed your process and sharing. Believe me when I say that you are amazing. I can't wait to see what's to come.
Thank you for your support 👍
This hut was lost since the bees settled there with their hive, the best is to rebuilt somewhere else i guess. Anyway, good luck, your doing a great work to teach us this forgotten way to live.
If he rebuilds it at all, I hope it's to make it even more bee-friendly. _happily imagines an unfortunate vandal covered in welts_
It makes me sick to think that someone would find any kind of satisfaction in vandalizing anything, especially something as unique and beautiful as your work. Tough question for rebuild. If it gives you satisfaction, do it. If you do and it again is semi or totally destroyed, can you deal? At this point, you just might remember the words of Dr. Seuss when he said, "Don't be sad that it ended, be happy that it happened" and move on. Great channel!
I think you have two options to choose from. The first is to take from the first hut everything that may be useful to you in the new hut.
The second is to find a reliable person who will visit this hut from time to time, take care of it and continue to develop it.
I don't know anyone who has the time for that.
Let nature reclaim it! ❤
Hello my fish story friend.
If it were me I would fix it up.
However I would divide my time between both huts so that unwelcomed guests would know someone still lives there.
However now that nature is making it it's new home (the honey bees) it may be best just to clean the area up a bit and take what memories and other momentos you made that are still good and leave the rest.
Memories last us a lifetime....that's the best thing of all.
Maybe I should try harvesting some honey.
it's sad to see how what you made with your own hands lies in ruins. but I was afraid that the vandals would destroy all the walls and leave a lot of trash, fortunately the hut was damaged much less. I have seen so many videos of your life in this hut. I will be glad if you repair it
The walls are actually pretty strong. I don't understand why they did this.
@@ChadZuberAdventures As mentioned above, the damage could have been caused by someone running away from bees. Some people are deathly allergic to them, and others are really scared of them. Doesn't appear like normal vandalism.
I am sorry for that Chad. I have been following you all the way during the construction and living in it and yes, I can imagine it’s sad but if those people will make this again? Maybe it is not anymore a safe place. ❤
I think you're right.
Excited to see your next location.
I think its awful that someone would see hard work like this and kick it down. I do believe we can be hopeful, but i wish you luck in your next steps.
Thank you
Please stay safe Chad! 🙏 We love you!

If you are able to fix up the hut, that would be great. It's unfortunate that people did this. I hope all goes well for you in the future. Cheers, Chad and God Bless! 🙏✌️
Sad but it's sometime best to tread forward. I believe taking along some of your hard-won possessions now would be appropriate; such as the canteen, mats, basket and door mat. You are talented and self-aware, these can be useful and tie you to wonderful memories.
Yeah, maybe I should do that.
Hey man just found ur channel and im loving it.
Its very sad that this happened but we all need to eventually move on
Love from romania ❤
Great site, new hut!
i like the revisiting! reminds me of the game myst, the area, your buildings...
Outstanding to the mind ,how would a visitor like that on a place like this , will be so vulgar to the shelter .. Knowing you build it by hand will be enough for you to move on , but fun fact when you saw the chimney with bees in it , is a good idea to make it like a hive for some months , to come again and collect some material for the winter . That place will be well known to you , the places where you survived and evolved you can always use its paths to gain whats needed throught out the year . Wishing you all the best , as a archeologist your work is just pure art to the mind : ) ! Cheers from Bulgaria !
Some of the original bee hives were made from sections of gum tree logs, which often naturally go hollow. Book 2 of the Foxfire series might be used for reference on how the old timers did it. Maybe you could find a hollow log or construct some type of box out of adobe similar to what they're living in now but with a removable lid, and capture a swarm or two. Then you'd have your own hives and relatively easy access to honey.
It is very sad to see how others enjoy simply do damage to the great creations of others. Probably because they are envy... Such a sad and bad trait. Please know I feel extremely sorry for your loss and thank you so much for sharing your memories and emotions with us.
Fixing the hut will be possible for sure but as there truly are people enjoying damaging it and knowing it's location I am worried they might ruin your efforts again. 😢
I'm thinking you could harvest some of the materials from the old hut. Perhaps build some light infrastructure like another handwashing station. Perhaps even add a kitchen attached to your new hut.
It is not massively damaged, certainly salvageable.
Bonjour à toutes et tous,

Puis laisser la nature reprendre ses droits.

Oui, c'est une bonne idée.
What a pity, can just imagine how you must feel....maybe you should leave it and let it be... put your energy in your new hut and give it a nice floor😊
It doesn't even really bother me. I mostly want it left alone so that I can observe the effects of time on this structure. When I first built it a lot of people said that it would wash away when it rains. But obviously that did not happen.
I think you should fix it Tarzan that was your first hut and you had a ton of memories there it deserves to be fixed up
If you are going to repair then you should set up a few motion activated trail cams in hidden places and go back periodically to check them so that you can possibly catch who ever comes in contact with the hut.
I have been watching since the beginning and have always enjoyed, been educated and entertained by your videos. Thank you for everything that you do.
They'd probably find the cameras and take them.
@@ChadZuberAdventures I understand your reasoning behind letting it go. You do have a lot of video to watch when you want to reminisce about your first hut
I think it’s the perfect project for an apprentice to Chad Zuber!
Let the past go and build bigger and better from all you have learned. You have earned some caveman comfort.
But the honey!

its surreal that I went to sleep last night watching your primal tendencies playlist and when I woke up I got this notification that your hut is in ruins 😢
Really sad to see an old hut like this 😢
I enjoy watching your videos 😌 If this house is really dear to you, then it can be repaired. He probably needs someone to keep an eye on him. Have a nice day 😉
It's not dear to me at all. I just want it to remain so when I visit it once a year I can see how it's holding up.
I just thought that if there was someone to look after the house, it would be much better 🙂
That was an interesting video Chad, I think let it go the base. Thanks for your awesome videos!
I think so too!
Let it Go. You and we still have the amazing videos you worked on from here but It's heartbreaking in the way, even though you've moved on that these people simply couldn't enjoy it for what it was and then left rubbish behind as a further insult. You still have the skills and lessons and great memories this place brought. So do we, thanks to your efforts 👍😄
I think you're right

Breaks my heart Chad. Been with you since the beginning, learnt so much and even feel attached to that hut myself!
I say fix it up perfectly, create a strange human-looking figure/effigy out of branches and cordage with a cow skull head, and write “YOU SHOULD HAVE LEFT ME ALONE” in red paint next to it.
Definitely make them think twice about messing with any primitive shelter in the future 😂
A difficult decision to make. On one hand, it's additional content, and an opportunity to implement all the new things you've learned since you built it. On the other, bees would be a great natural resource to harvest from if you left the hut alone. If it's important, then I think it's worth taking the time to consider the pros and cons.
I'm considering smoking the bees out and getting some of the hive. But first I need to learn more about bees.
It would be gratifying to see it rebuild 👍🏽
The process of ruination is fascinating
It would be interesting to see you rebuild it but, at the same time also utilizing the further knowledge you have gained with your new location as well.
Wow Chad... I've only seen this hut like once or twice before, as I've started watching you moved to the new location... I wish I've had seen more of it. The hut for Rufo is absolutely adorable, I'm surprised it stood in such good condition. Maybe get him one like that over at the new hut ;)
Be careful with the bees! And try to not take all of it, the bees could survive and rebuild their hive, or move and make a new one!
Is there anything else that could be useful to be perhaps brought over from the old hut, to the new one? The onion plants could also be harvested for seeds later in the year, and planted by the new hut :D
You could move a small distance away and build a new hut with some newer materials like making roof tiles instead of the yucca stem roof that the old one had. Just an idea, but whatever you choose to do we'll be watching.😁👍
Chad. Sad to see that some people just have to damage other peoples stuff. I think you should salvage what you can and rebuild closer to water and other resources.
I have the new hut and it is in a very remote place that would be hard for people to find.
I remember when you built that! Very sad 😢 mind boggling that someone would vandalize such a cool place then leave plastic trash. I’d say no to fixing it since someone knows where it is.
Yeah, I don't understand how some people think.
Emmm chad, do you still remember thats everything has come to an end, maybe that's what you se now, and if you want to rebuild it, that will be satisfying to watch, with all memory you have done on that hut for several years right
Yes, everything comes to an end
Many memories from this house 😢
And of course they leave the big gulp cup! I would be afraid to fix it because the perpetrators might come back. Such a bummer that some people can't leave others things alone
You are a good survivor 😊👍
