For those who care to learn...Chad does a great job and I know what I know from both training and a long life of experience. Here is a hint for small stream or creek fishing. The fish are generally smaller than you would like so catching more is what you need to do. Make more traps and place them in tight bends of the waterway. If you can, add rocks in the shape of a funnel stretched out on either side of the trap opening. If you find your waterway is too straight, you can grind up worms or refuse from a mean and wrap it in grass. Leave it loose enough to allow some to slowly escape. Turn your trap around, the hole facing down stream and put the bait ball at the other end. you might do well to wrap the pointed end a bit more with grass to control the water flow. That flow will release the food. Tiny bits will flow downstream and it will attract fish that are passing the basket and fish from below. Once they find the hole, they will eat and hang out. If you put a few branches over the basket, stuck in the mud and held in place by rocks, they will hang even longer so you lose less when you are ready to collect them. If you trap is empty too often, do what Chad is doing, analyze the reasons. You are looking for food to enter a hole about three inches or less in an entire waterway of hiding places! You need to hedge your bet by adding baskets, flow control, enticements and frequent observation. One last thing...set your traps in the morning, collect food and eat then go down stream a good ways and bathe. The fish will turn back if you are a presence they are not used to or they will dart past you. If they go around, put traps in those areas. When you put rocks to funnel, make them cause the water to flow faster. A small catch can be survival but more importantly, it can be a lesson. No matter where you are and what you are in need of, nature has figured out how to keep you from getting it. As Scrooge McDuck says, "Work smarter, not harder!" This has been a PSA from: A Nana.

Yes but you have to move a lot of rock to make that simple rock wall. The river will rise and then you have to add even more rock than you thought at first.
You can make a primative basket (large weave) to hang above a slow part or pool in the river. Put dead animal in basket large enough to attract lots of flies. Once the flies go to town the maggots they produce will fall through the basket weave into the water. It will fatten the fish and make a good fishing hole. Use maggots for bait. Or you can just sautee the maggots :)
After so many failed attempts to get a fish I like silently shouted and raised my hands when the fish took the hook. Good job Chad! Bet that was satisfying.
Going by that underwater shot with the fish around the fish trap maybe creating a funnel of rocks and branches to funnel the fish into the trap. Maybe some foliage over the trap and entrance to the trap. Then use a large branch as a beating stick to splash the water as you move down stream towards the trap to hopefully drive the fish into it. Maybe....
@@ChadZuberAdventures I built an eel trap some time ago, and as you know these things take a lot of time and I kept it in a dam I had seen eels in for days and nights and caught nothing but a couple of tiny snails. Try and make a weir with rocks in a narrow part of the stream and funnel the fish into your fish trap. Go upstream then whack the water with a long thin willow branch. Scared fish will head down stream to get away from you. Or so goes the theory. Or place your trap along the edge of the stream in a dark shady place where the like to hide. Bait and wait. If you research fish trap with rock fence you can find examples done by survivalists and indigenous people around the globe using similar fish traps but making a small fence across the stream using rocks or sticks shoved into the mud. That funnels the fish into the trap. Also once the fence is made. Stirring up silt upstream of a school of fish will drive the school of fish into the trap. Then you let the ones you dont eat go. Красава тарзан поплывок для удочки замути можно сделать из какой нибудь палочки что бы главное норм поплывок был что бы видно было когда будет рыбка клювать
The crushed condition of the bait in the trap attracts a lot of fish. And it is good to shade the trap with leaves. These days, I'm working hard on making a small shelter and practicing making a fire. It's not like everyone else, but I'm working on it.
As a man that rose up near a small river like this, let me tell three things: turn the basket other way around. Food smell that attract fish go downstream, and fish tend to go upstream. Second: make more traps. More is better than few. If you catch more than you need you can always release. But when catch is not good, it can save the day. Third: try fence-type trap. It can cover more of the stream and easier to make. Or make wings for this basket-trap, it can help too.
I celebrated the fish taking the bait, as if my team had scored a goal in the last minute! Another achievement accomplished my friend! How was the meal?
Bro the best technique to catch fish on stream is ,you have to block side wise afterall you need to put your trap in the middle! It's very easy!! Love u lots ❤❤
Thanks for sharing this. It was awesome. I'm wondering if you can make a large fish net, using yucca cordage? Perhaps you can make a net with a frame and handle, for a fish net, using willow, and some other wood. Cheers, Chad, and God Bless! ✌️
If he only has any survival skills he would place the basket opening down look for the fish they always face up the stream even when rest only go down when something spook them.

Congratulations, Chad! I imagine what a joy it was to catch that fish! Have you thought about trying to weave a fishing net? I think that would give you a better chance at catching fish.
Thanks! Yeah, I want to make a big fishing net. It will take a lot of time to produce the cordage and weave it. I'm talking weeks! But I do want to do it. It will be so easy then.
in my experience, you built a trap that will do what you need it to as long as you give the fish no other way out. dam up a portion of your stream with your trap at the exit. see what it'll do with (or even without) bait. all the best and thanks for having us along for your adventure.
I understand that technique. I really don't want to dam up the river. It would require a lot of effort to move rock to make the dam. I have another idea to try several traps at the same time.
I see your using compound hooks for the most part, have you tried the simpler but still effective gorge hooks? I’ve had some luck with them in the past and they’re much easier to make. Great videos by the way, I have been enjoying them very much!!!!!
I had tried the gorge hook several times before, including this same day. The fish take the bait with the gorge hook but every time I go to set the hook it just came right out of the mouth. It never stuck.
@@ChadZuberAdventures With gorge hooks wait as long as you possibly can before trying to set the hook as this will allow the hook and bait to get past the mouth into the throat/gorge giving you a better chance of setting the hook solidly…………
@@ChadZuberAdventures That’s actually pretty good but the longer (try and go 10) the better when it comes to gorge hooks, however as I’m sure you already know when it comes to primitive fishing gear and tackle it’s never a sure thing no matter how good you do it😆!!
Next time try to put a trap in this place 13:09 (under right rapid, even without bait), or in another where there is a narrowing of the stream... or make it artificially from stones... such traps work well only in narrow places or back to back to the shore... there where you set the trap, it must be left for a day or more, and without bait it will not work at all ..
Thanks for the tips. I didn't have time to come back the next day. I'm going to make several traps and place them all at the same time so that I can test more efficiently.

Fortunately for me this place receives zero fishing pressure. I'm probably the only human these fish have encountered in their lives. They are readily willing to bite, even when the line is so visible.
Fish are wary of threats from above. Thats why they like deep pools and rocks they can hide under. They only stay out in the open if they have area around them so they can dash in any direction. I think the issue with your trap is its open to the sky. Try covering the top with leaves so that you create an area they can hide in. Also, try to place it close to those deep pools and boulders. Just a thought...
There are always a lot of fish in that area where I place the trap. I'm going to make more traps with different designs and experiment with different techniques. I'll figure it out and you all will learn what works.

I will try that next time. I wasn't aware that the direction was such a big deal because I observe the fish swimming both upstream and downstream.
That's too simple for us.. We use it everyday nyways.,nice one 😅😅😅
Always love watching you, Chad. I want to watch when you catch three fish in one day:)
I will soon!
Catch fich. Naaajs. Great joob. Super. Pozdrowienia z polski🇵🇱
The crushed condition of the bait in the trap attracts a lot of fish. And it is good to shade the trap with leaves. These days, I'm working hard on making a small shelter and practicing making a fire. It's not like everyone else, but I'm working on it.
Thanks for the tip. I have a lot of experimenting to do with traps.
Hi Chad, just wondering how you are? We haven't seen you for a while.
One more great video
Cheers to you, you finally success to caught a fish a delicious and nutritious dinner for you man
Yummy!
yeah no one can beat a fresh fish for dinner 👌🏻😋
Greetings from Mexico, I personally like survival and camping videos and I love how this channel have both of my favorite content in a primitive way
Cool. Thanks a lot! Muchos saludos!
Slowly, but surely, we've watched you turn into a desert-dwelling sasquatch.
Hahahah! Thanks, ...I guess.
I truly LOVED this episode, Chad!!! I’m so happy for you catching this fish. Thanks for all you do/share!!!
I celebrated the fish taking the bait, as if my team had scored a goal in the last minute! Another achievement accomplished my friend! How was the meal?
I was so excited to get the bite on video. The fish tasted really good too!
Bro the best technique to catch fish on stream is ,you have to block side wise afterall you need to put your trap in the middle! It's very easy!! Love u lots ❤❤
happy that you finally managed to catch a fish Chad, keep the good and hard work up!
Well done Chad, perserverence pays....
Your good bro 🤜bestopalck
yeayyyy.....finally chad.......really happy to see it....fishhhhhhhhhhhh......😍😍😍😍...love from malaysia chad..take care..and eat well...
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing this. It was awesome. I'm wondering if you can make a large fish net, using yucca cordage? Perhaps you can make a net with a frame and handle, for a fish net, using willow, and some other wood. Cheers, Chad, and God Bless! ✌️
I was thinking the same thing. Or make a large net to put across the stream.
@@christinaclark9754 Exactly. Cheers!
If he only has any survival skills he would place the basket opening down look for the fish they always face up the stream even when rest only go down when something spook them.
I plan to make a net. It's a very time consuming process. It will take weeks to make a net.
@@ChadZuberAdventures How long would it take to make a smaller hand held net, with a handle to catch fish?
Only took 42 episodes to catch a fish!! That feeling must be incredible
Yeah, only 42 episodes! Geez, what a loser I am! Hahaha
Boa noite Chad ansiosa pra assistir seus vídeos maravilhosos.. Um grande abraço aqui de São Paulo Brasil,. Sua cabana tá cada vez mais top, ah aqui no Brasil essa armadilha é chamada de shok . Sucesso 🙏🙏😘

Wow you did it Chad good job!
Nice catch! Very satisfing to watch you succeed in your pursuit this time.
Sending my thousand million billion supports my friend
Thank you, thank you my friend!
@@ChadZuberAdventures that fish you caught was very appealing when u cooked it. I also grilled some fish couple a days ago and it was delicious, too, I posted it here in my you tube channel
@@CampingGuy Nice! Fresh fish is so good. The one I caught was cooked within half an hour of me catching it.
@@ChadZuberAdventures it was so awesome the way u cooked it. U cooked it better than Hollywood movies. I really really appreciated u responding in your best opportunity and you're the only youtube star I know that responds. Waiting for your next productive vidoe ✌️
I was wondering the same thing.
@@mikeschannel2024 I'll give it a try again. I had let them take it for about five seconds. Is that too short a time?
@@ChadZuberAdventures That’s actually pretty good but the longer (try and go 10) the better when it comes to gorge hooks, however as I’m sure you already know when it comes to primitive fishing gear and tackle it’s never a sure thing no matter how good you do it😆!!
Чад Зубер ты очень крут!
Спасибо большое!
I love this video
👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
your video’s is so cool and satisfying to watch keep going we support you 😁
Thank you so much 🤗
Can’t believe you got the fish take shot, you are truly a gifted individual in so many fields, impressive demonstration of what nature can provide to individuals who understand failing is the best part of any learning curve.
Amazing channel, It really tells how powerful humans can be if we only chose to observe nature circle of life.
👏👏👏
Observation is the key. Every time I go to the stream I learn more.
Wow! in the last episode i learned a lot and you did amazingly well to teach stuff in this video too! i was very excited for the moment the fish bit the hook! very glad your persistence was honored! good job, keep up the good work!
I was so excited to see how aggressive the fish were with the bait despite the line being so clearly visible.
All you're video's are really wel made
Thank you so much
Congratulations on finally getting a fish! I know that had to be super hard and super rewarding, hell I have trouble getting a fish on my line with good fishing rods and tackle. So to get a fish with primitive tools just had to feel so damn good! Congratz again on the accomplishment!
Fortunately for me this place receives zero fishing pressure. I'm probably the only human these fish have encountered in their lives. They are readily willing to bite, even when the line is so visible.
What a best content without clickbait.
Very nice bro, i cant wait to see next episode 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
That's amazing! I even cannot success with modern fishing rod
Hahaha, I understand. Some places are just really bad for fishing.
I wish you a good catch of fish, you are a really persistent person and you deserve success ...
These videos are so calming, thank you from australia.
Je suis toujours heureux quand je vous regarde vivre cette belle aventure. Bonne continuation❤👍
