- A young woman asked Frank what his view is on whether our salvation is secure or can we lose it. This led to an explanation of the one person who is not welcomed at church. It seems odd to say that someone would not be welcome in church, but Paul tells us there is one type of person who is not. Do you know who that is? Frank reveals it here. Check it out.

Gifts are supposed to be given out freely just like love. ... Giving someone a gift only to take it back when things go awry means you are hurting so much that you just want to hurt the other person almost as much as you must be hurting.

@@Cool_Armor50 Eternal life doesn't imply not losing such life. It is a gift after all so it can be lost. While we're here on earth, our testing ground, we can either pass or fail. We can either keep the gift or lose it through unbelief or by denying the faith. The bible is full of warnings to Christians against immoralities and these warnings tell us that the gift can slip out of our hands. Christians are not yet off the hook.
@@Cool_Armor50 Yes, indeed. I think almost every biblical passage of admonition and warning is telling us that the gift can be lost. I hope you can convince Dr. Turek to change his mind about always saved doctrine. This dotrine could be working against his goal of converting people from atheism to Christianity.
@@Cool_Armor50 - 🔴🤔Frank is a rational apologist. He is good at what he do ... But I believe on the issue of salvation, he is not sound. He has some serious errors with his once-saved-always-saved views. I believe orthodox theology presents a more accurate view of what salvation is and its process. There are three tenses of salvation by Orthodox Christian understanding: #1. Saved at the cross whereby it is not your doing; #2 being saved whereby one must daily do the will of God (it is a life process); and, #3 finally saved whereby one is judged and resurrected and forever with the Lord. Frank seems to be stuck at #1 - at what happens at the cross, here. You just believe and you're saved. God takes care of the rest. So Frank quotes scriptures to support the #1 ... But the danger is - Orthodox theology from the early Church Fathers stress after you accepted Jesus Christ, then you are on the road of sanctification. You receive the Holy Spirit and you are given the opportunity to maintain that relationship between you and the Holy Spirit by doing the commandments of Christ. Jesus stated, if you love me, keep my commandments. .. So according to Orthodox Christianity you can choose to turn away from Christ and don't believe in Him anymore, and live a life of deliberate sin(s). You have Bible verses that supports the #2 tense of salvation. And it looks like Frank seems to ignore them or explain them away to not mean final judgement. I think here on this important topic, he is deceiving himself and others.
I love the distinction between justification (a gift based on faith, because God loves us), and sanctification (a measure of how much God trusts us and can use us for his good purposes)

never heard of it, but it certainly makes sense. Salvation is given by Grace, not earned, it cannot be lost, but we can loose the Blessings of God that Jesus entitles us too as adopted brothers and sisters., IMHO. There are many verses that say salvation is permanent, many.
The Roman Catholic Church conflates the two.

Jesus said in John 17:17, "Sanctify them by your truth, your Word is truth". So, Frank's definition of sanctification, "The ongoing process in which we're becoming more and more like Jesus" sounds more aligned with scripture than your definition, "A measure of how much God trusts us and can use us for his good purposes". It sounds like you're basing your definition off the parable of the talents...?

We all sin as mentioned, everyday. Its knowing the sin and repenting of it and asking God forgiveness and to give you the strength to overcome/resist those temptations as they will always be there and to make efforts to change ones lifestyle (me included ofc)
Ive been fighting with certain sins for years (as we all do) and slowly through prayer i am getting stronger all thanks to the good Lord
If once saved, always saved then why not go sin all you want? because no matter how much you sin you are guaranteed heaven because you were saved sometime in your life right? according to that theory of course. If a Christian does not stay with God then he will not reach the kingdom of heaven,

This is why many people who believes in OSAS also believes that once you get truly saved, you wont return back to your vomit anymore, therefore you wont lose your salvation.
@@ross6387 The Bible is pretty clear and doesn't advocate to live a life of sin. By once saved always saved means that you realize that you have a sickness i.e the sin(s). You bring those sin(s) towards the foot of the cross, with contrition. For how can one acquire or consume a cure for a sickness, when one does not believe that they are afflicted with a sickness in the first place? When they realize that they need a cure, one doesn't continue to sin, for they are borne again, sanctified by the Holy Spirit moving closer to being that which was made in the image of GOD, to live for GOD.

@@NicholasAthias yes of course you repent of your sins and realise all your sins when you are WITH the Holy spirit. The problem is if someone was called by the Lord but that individual strays from the Lord and lives for the world, forgetting what is right, deceived by the devil then he is not saved anymore for only the perfect can enter heaven and is blameless and to achieve that you must walk with the Holy spirit or at least die with acceptance and repentance towards the Lord otherwise they are not worthy anymore even if they were the closest to Christ at some point in their life.

But, you can definitely lose your fellowship with God. Which I can’t think of a worse situation to be in alive here on earth as a professing Christian.

If you sin, and confess your sins, He will cleanse you from all sin.
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
No where does it say that God will throw you in hell for sinning as a Christian. What non sense

Uh ... no. Think about it. If I freely give you $100 does that somehow make it impossible for you to lose it? If I freely give you my friendship when I first meet you does that imply you can't forfeit it if you betray me? We lose gifts all the time. It's very common.

@@Fairfax40DaysforLife There's a doctrine known as Perseverence of the Saints. It's basically about how God is able to keep those who genuinely come to Him in faith saved. Here's a supporting scripture:
*Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,*

The ultimate question is this: If we have been saved by grace through faith, not by any works (Ephesians 2:8 & 9), what then maintains our salvation?

Absolutely perfect way of differentiating the 2. There are those who _claim to be_ and there are those who *_are_* believers.
The truth is that no Christian can “live in sin” because a Christian is “in Christ”
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
He cannot live “in sin” because the part of him that sins has been cut loose by spiritual circumcision and can no longer affect his soul.
Colossians 2:11-13 “ In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses.”
Sin only affects the body of a Christian. Spiritually speaking, the Christian is dead to his body, and his body is dead to him.
Romans 2:6-8 “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:”

Whoa! I never heard that view about the talents given. 😳😳 WOW! That’s life changing for me. God has given me talents and He has an expectation that I will use them!! I’ve been off work for 5 years due to illness. I know God still wants me to use my talents. Thank you Holy Spirit for the insight this has given me! Praise God! He is good!!!!

My pastor once called the once saved always saved teaching "the most damning doctrine in history". Look at these verses:

Michelle you are completely correct, God does give talents (gifts) to his people. To be used in a body of believers so that we all may work, live, and love each other as He loves us. He also give us gifts to be shared and used with those that don't yet know who Christ is.

I would also remember the parable of the different seed and what happens to them. Some seed will fall on the road, and some won’t take root deep enough. Sometimes we know people who seem to be saved, and maybe they’ll fall away and come back asp. But much of the time, I’ve seen people like that fall away and never return. Or remain angry and self centered for a long time after. Only God truly knows which they’ll be, in the end. And I think that’s the difference. Who really knows him, despite their anger, selfishness, and sin.

God’s plan of salvation is Jesus Christ. God instituted the plan of salvation not man , so man’s acceptance or rejection of it will not ruin God’s plan. We can’t ruin God’s plan but we can ruin ourselves, we can deceive ourselves. If you can start with Jesus and then backslide, you haven’t really grasped on to Jesus. Who puts down life to take up death again? “ But Jesus said to him, No one having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom.” Luke 9:62.
@@drax1s729 If its a context of the number of verse about faith alone verse works salvation its literally 50 to 1 for works alone. That alone should tell you you are misapplying those verse you say are a works based salvation. God is not contradicting Himself.
This is why it's said "faith without works is DEAD!! "
Read the first verse of the book of James. It's not written to us it's written to Jews. Paul was the apostle to Gentiles and taught saved by faith apart from works.
Works are a result of true faith. That doesn't mean works save us. They are only a result. Evident. Just like how the fruits of the spirit are evident of our true faith.

If you're a gentile, in the church age, James wasn't talking to you.
You are saved by grace through faith, not of works.
Any work you do only defines your identity.
James is to the Church just like every book from Acts to Revelation. James is talking about fellowship for the believer, not salvation. That's the up and down that Turek was talking about. Works are not the result of faith, they are the result of living in fellowship.

Read just 1 verse before 1 John 2:19, it’s not talking about Christians you don’t personally like in your church.
1 John 2:18 “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”
And who are antichrists?
1 John 2:22 “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.”

How was that well handled? More like well avoided.. she gave a verse and he didn’t necessarily give an answer, there’s so many verses in the Bible that indicate you can lose your salvation but it so convenient to ignore them.

John 10:28 “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”
Would you send your child to hell if they did bad? No, but you would discipline them because you love them.
Revelation 3:19 “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”

Wrong, Paul’s Gospel says that no one can snatch a person from the hands of God, but what Paul’s gospel doesn’t say is that man cannot reject God himself.
Man is purchase by God when he is given to the Son, and yet scripture says;
_“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, _*_even denying the Lord that bought them,_*_ and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”_
2 Peter 2:1 KJV
Sounds like those who were purchased by the Lord, later rejected him by bringing in damnable heresies.
Great response to a tough question. It’s not “once saved always saved” rather, ever really saved! When we fully understand what has taken place for our justification, we’ll hate sin and want to stop it. Allowing the work of the Holy Spirit to adjust our lives. Praise Jesus Christ Hallelujah

How do you know that Hebrews 10:26 is talking towards the church who’s saved by Grace alone? (Eph 2:6)
Hebrews is known to be written for … Jews. Hence the title.
That’s why there’s a lot of faith and works passages that conflict with Paul’s gospel of God’s GRACE . And why you see a lot of false heresy

Once you're saved, even if you fall back deep into sin, somehow God pulls you back up, always.
Amen! Jesus won’t leave us in our filth. Each time I sin the Holy Spirit pricks my heart and that sin becomes less and less enjoyable until I lay it at the feet of Jesus. God is SO good and patient with us. That’s one reason why we worship Him❤

And second of all, yes, I do think that God will make you realise and pull you back towards Him one day.

If you are saved there WILL be works to prove it. HOWEVER.. the works aren’t always outwardly produced for others to see and it definitely isn’t any ones place to judge. Sometimes the works is letting christ change your heart. Some of the greatest works will manifest through your outlook and how you love others. Being able to love the sinner but hate the sin.

I've wondered whether for some, good works might actually entail, for some, "being a good person"? I think of my husband of 38 years. He's a believer but by my standard, he doesn't seem to even be very conscious of God's presence, let alone pursuing a relationship with Him, increasing His knowledge of Him, or using his talents in God's service. Yet, he could be, well, like my dad: always seeking what will make him "happy" no matter the wreckage in his wake. Obviously life is rife with opportunities to sin and I haven't been that easy to live with, yet he has remained faithful in all aspects of his life. Who am I to say that God won't count that as works that evidence his faith?
I’d love the opportunity to personally answer her question speaking as someone who thought they were a Christian in their youth, walked away for 20 years and then became born again in Christ. I would definitely espouse once saved always saved and I would give her a wonderful apologia for why that is. I’ll pray for her, when you’re young it’s all so hard!

@@mcwoods246 There’s a more simple answer I’ll give you that won’t cause me to type quite as much, but if I was in person I’d do better service to the point with my vocalized words. It ultimately comes down to trust pure and simple.
You can believe certain parts of the gospels and think you’re believing, but until you’re at a state of trust in literally everything they say, you will not receive the Holy Ghost. Jesus is waiting for you to surrender from yourself and truly trust in him. When I was young I believed Jesus died and was raised again, but I doubted many things written in the Bible. As a result I did not receive the Holy Ghost. I was baptized at 9 years old by choice too.
That’s not how it works for receiving salvation, that’s just something symbolic GOD asked of you so you could understand that he was washing you clean and also pulling you out of the water like Moses from the Nile. True salvation however comes by faith/belief. If you study the Greek text you’ll come to understand that more than anything Jesus asked you for trust when he asked you to believe in him. He wants you to literally trust him and no matter how hard it is, no matter what you were told that conflicts with what he said, he wants you to trust him as being right. If you do that he’ll prove it to you even though you already trusted him. He wants you to achieve this trust with him based on two things. First, prophecy, recognize that he’s the master of creation and knows all things before they occur. Second, his character is proven in scripture, and he can be trusted above any other.
In my adulthood, I finally surrendered after about 20 years living a life in sin. I wasn’t even looking for Jesus when he came calling on me, but when I realized he was the one calling on me I decided to believe him in earnest. I had seen enough things in my own life by then to know the Devil was very real and that a large part of society was actively worshipping him. I also began to realize many prophecies in the Bible indeed happened in such exact manners that it was undeniable. Especially prophecies no one seemed to be talking about that I was reading directly out of the Bible.
The most important thing I did was I decided to hear the gospels in their completion after everything else I was seeing around me at the time. Obviously I had already started to dig into some scriptures I was hearing about too beforehand. I listened to all four gospels but by the time I finished Matthew I’d already received the Holy Ghost. The reason why it happened just like that was because I trusted every single thing I heard! I was done fighting, I was ready to hear what GOD did for me. When you hit that moment of surrender and decide “I will trust Jesus even when everything in society tells me he’s supposed to be wrong”, boom, that’s the moment it actually happens for you.
You’ll never forget it either, when the Holy Ghost comes upon you all the trying and effort this religion used to feel like becomes over. I don’t feel like I’m trying to do anything anymore, I’m letting the Holy Ghost lift me up and keep me on GOD’s tasks. I have a helper now, and everyday I grow in Christ and find more hidden lessons in scripture that only GOD could have put there. When you trust in Jesus he sends the Holy Ghost to show you how right you were to trust him! It’s wonderful!
The idea that I’d ever slip away from holding onto Christ is unconscionable now, I’m saved! I can’t possibly be unsaved! Now I realize that I’m probably going to get myself killed shouting at the rooftops that Jesus is the Christ someday because I can’t shut up about it to anyone I know regardless of the situation. They could make it illegal to evangelize tomorrow and I wouldn’t stop. I’m not allowed to stop.
That’s the real difference. When I was young, I wasn’t saved, I only believed the parts I thought were necessary. I didn’t understand that I just needed to surrender and believe it all, or at least enter with that willingness towards GOD to fully trust him. I don’t think anyone could have convinced me about what I was doing incorrectly back then or ever convinced me I wasn’t a true Christian either. It was good that I was sent out amongst Satan to live and suffer so that I might truly trust in Christ, but I pray that the Lord gives other young people facing this struggle eyes that see and ears that hear to receive the gospels instead!
For me, this was just the way GOD got through to me in the end, by letting me sin and letting me feel the death I was surrounding myself in. Sin is death, and it feels like death once you’re familiar enough with it. Living in the Son though, I’m free, I’m forgiven, and I’m saved!

When Jesus will say I never knew you that means they were never saved to begin with.

God is omniscient and knows everybody, but the meaning here is plainly, “I never knew you as friends, I never knew you as followers, I never knew you as real believers.”

I see her point. The parable of the talents ends with the guy who buried his talent being sent away to where there is “weeping and gnashing of teeth”. James 2 says that faith without works is dead; that even the demons believe and shudder yet they are not being saved.
It appears that the point that’s being made is that true faith/belief is something that results in tangible action that proves it’s legitimacy. Again in Isaiah, the people are criticized for honoring God with their lips, yet their hearts are far from him. Jesus tells the Pharisees that if they clean their insides (hearts), their outside will be clean also. This means that our hearts need to be right by transformation through the renewing of our minds. When our hearts are truly right, we will have a desire to do good works and live righteously
So if the root is bad, the fruit will be bad. If the root is good, the fruit will be good. So don’t worry so much about the works, but rather the root (your heart). When your root is good, you will pretty much automatically produce good fruits (the fruit of the spirit - Galatians 5:22-23). This is the best approach as God judges the heart, not the outward appearance. What comes out of us is what the heart is full of.
This is also how we can discern false prophets. Ye shall know them by their fruit
In the end though if you focus on your works you’ll burn out and feel hopeless. If you focus on your identity in Christ, you’ll live.

As a former believer, I'm pleased to hear Frank say this. This questioner also puts forward the idea that you can lose your salvation. I don't have any problem with that belief. What I really object to is when Christians tell former believers that they were "never a true Christian". Anybody can lose their faith, including you. People only ever told I was never a true Christian after I lost mine. People who say this don't identify "not true Christians" while they still believe. It's always after.
You don't know the future. You don't know if you are going to lose your faith in 10/20/30 years time. You just don't. If you believe people who lose their faith were never true Christians, you call into doubt your own salvation. Unless you can predict the future, you cannot know if you are saved.

I gotta strongly disagree with Turek here. There's MANY verses in the Bible that say "but the one who endures to the end will be saved" or something very similar. Literally ALL over the Bible.
My pastor once called the once saved always saved teaching "the most damning doctrine in history". Look at these verses:

I say “once TRULY saved, always saved.” If you are truly saved then will have no desire to walk away from your salvation.
This is the EXACT question I've been struggling with for 2 years but haven't found a satisfying answer. I believe she is approaching this question the same as I have so let me expound on the analysis here:
Say person A is an unsaved person and they have lived their life knowing who Jesus is but never actually understanding their eternal dilemma of not knowing the Savior. Person A then hears the Gospel, understands it's implications, is convicted of their sin, and then REPENTS of their sin and makes the active decision to trust in Christ alone for their salvation and deliverance from sins.
According to the Bible, that person is saved. This is where the question comes in (about which she mentioned): does that person remain saved if they "backslide" into their old habits of sin? With the Parable of the Talents/Bags of Gold, as she correctly pointed out, Jesus mentions at the end that the servant who buried his talent (didn't actively use it) to keep it safe to return to his master was cast out --
"30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’"
The weeping and gnashing of teeth description is often cited in other verses as a description of either: a. Hell or b. the "outer darkness" of Heaven where those that are saved but unworthy to attend the marriage banquet of the lamb are kept for a finite amount of time.
So there are actually 2 questions here, both of which should strike fear in the heart of the believer:
1. If one is once saved, always saved then what is this place where they can be thrown out into the darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth?
And
2. If Person A, as described above, is actually a "false convert" and merely went through the motions of conversion to Christianity but wasn't actually sincere in the heart, then WHAT must that person do in order to be GENUINELY saved? I suspect this is a fear many people have when they feel they must repeatedly repent of the same sin over and over and begin to question if they really are saved.

For me, I know Jesus entered my heart when I didn't want to sin anymore. In the past I rationalized away my behavior and not only did I sin I actively sought it out. Then I returned to my Catholic faith after years of staying away from any form of organized religion and a few failed attempts at fitting in with some of the Protestant churches in my area. A contentment came over me I hadn't experienced before and as I said, I didn't want to sin after that. That was new to me. I'm not saying it was the Catholic faith alone that did it. I'm sure many Protestants experience the same conversion. It was just for me, I was home. Christ is the key to all of it. I think you are saved when you genuinely don't feel like sinning. I still fall short, but I catch myself a lot quicker and I do my best not to fall. Kind of like walking on a balance beam. Instead of just sitting there, being comfortable, I get back up right away and start walking again. That is how I know Jesus is actually at work in my heart. I think if your conversion is real, you stay because you want to, not out of fear but out of love. That is when you are saved.

if you really accepted Jesus, you would know that He doesn't want sin. now, you committed sin, a lot of them, maybe you fell back into enjoying it (physically), BUT if you have the guilt that "this is wrong, I shouldn't be doing this", then that's your flesh just like what Paul said that he's doing what he doesn't want to do and what he wants to do he doesn't do. you're still saved because you have that desire to not displease God, even though you're struggling in temptation.
but those who commit sin and enjoys it (internally) like you're doing it now but there's no hesitation in your soul, you don't feel bad doing it or after doing it, then I'm sorry to tell you, my friend, I don't think you really accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Backsliding goes back to the parable of the talents.
If you’re using your precious time here on earth sinning and not advancing the gospel, you are 1) losing your fellowship with God 2) not using that time doing good works in order to claim your heavenly rewards.
The judgement seat of Christ in 2 Corinthians 5:9-11 expands on this deeper doctrine
A Christian will be rewarded in heaven with inheritance (different than salvation) based on his good works after he’s saved.
Basically you will see the people in heaven who sacrificed their time here in earth with many rewards and inheritance ,
and you will also see people who lived after the flesh and did very little have nothing in heaven

If you understand this passage well, it states clearly one can lose their salvation. Where you have the word guarantee, it should be 'earnest'. The Greek word used is 'arrabone', (thats how it sounds I don't know how to type Greek). An arrabone is a legal contract and both ends of the contract have obligations they must keep. Its like one giving a down payment to another for a job to be completed. If either side breaks the contract, penalties will occur. God gives us the down payment and promises to pay the rest, but only if we keep our side of the agreement, which is to live a sinless life, as we follow in Jesus's footsteps. If we continue to sin mortally then salvation is then lost, as we have broken the contract. So Once saved Always saved is a false teaching.

I wouldn't say the fear of hell makes us avoid sin, at least not for those who are saved. God puts it on my heart and motivates me to do good for Him. I repent from sin due to conviction; God puts it on my heart that my actions are wrong. God only convicts Christians, and Christians are the only ones who are going to be with the Lord in eternity.

The truth is that no Christian can “live in sin” because a Christian is “in Christ”

He cannot live “in sin” because the part of him that sins has been cut loose by spiritual circumcision and can no longer affect his soul.

Sin only affects the body of a Christian. Spiritually speaking, the Christian is dead to his body, and his body is dead to him.

I'm a bit surprised the speaker didn't put repentance into the equation for the second question. Justice and salvation are God's alone but repentance plays a huge part in salvation and many Christians have the meaning of repentance wrong.

I was thinking similar to what you wrote
Salvation is based on a relationship with Jesus. Since we have free will, a believer can always walk away from that relationship. I John 5 says that eternal life is in Jesus, so that if we have Jesus, we have eternal life. Logically, the reverse must also be true: If you throw that relationship away, then you will lose your eternal life. All the texts people use to defend the doctrine of eternal security speak about no 3rd party removing someone from Jesus' hands. But they allow for the person himself to remove himself. If not, then we are saying that believers lose their free will when they first receive eternal life.
No one can claim to be saved or have eternal life can die.
Being saved is a hope for the future. Matthew 24:13.

This is a point I have never heard from anyone but after many years studying these passages and discussing them and praying about the issue the Holy Spirit enlightened my mind to understand why no agreement has been arrived at on this subject and it’s simply this… The Bible clearly teaches both… what does that mean…? It means that their are actually 2 different types of salvation, one by Gods immutable will and another by his permissive will, meaning God saves some regardless of their personal choice while others are saved by opening up their heart to Christ, Gods permissive will is for all people to be saved but his immutable will only applies to those he selected before they even existed physically which he chose before creation even existed… why did he do this…? That he hasn’t showed me yet, but I believe fundamentally that it was, is and will continue to be the most loving thing that he could possibly do… Hope that makes some sense and brings some clarity to a long contended debate… Romans 8:28-32, Ephesians 1:4-6 ref for Gods immutable will and John 3:16, Romans 10:9-11 for Gods permissive will…

I typically agree with almost everything he's usually says, but once saved always saved is a western culture philosophy that is not scripturally accurate. You can find many times in the Bible where the Lord sent judgment, not discipline, on to his child. Belief requires action, if you cannot live as if you believe, then you don't believe.

Take a look at the lead singer of Marylin Manson. He grew up in a Christian family, and if I remember correctly, his father was a pastor. So, if Marylin Manson said the sinners prayer when he was 9 or 10, but decided to live the rest of his life in complete and literal opposition to Christ, is that man still going to Heaven? My answer is no because he literally chose Satan over Christ.

I have no tangible evidence for this next claim, but it’s worth mentioning. Matt strikes me as the type of person who knows he’s wrong but is deciding to quadruple down on his denial. He does so in a way that reminds me of kids, who know they’re wrong but will lie anyway because why not.
However, in that same scenario with the kid, a parent never needs to whip out tangible evidence to know when your kid is lying to you. That’s how I view Dillahunty. You could also look at it this way. Was he ever born again to begin with? God looks at the heart, so Marilyn Manson could've just said it with his words, but not really with his heart. If you're truly born again you are transformed, it's not automatic change and repentance, but it's from the heart.

I always love Turek for his wisdom and love for God. Thanks once again. But I have something to differ on please. God's grace is inexhaustible, yet it's supply may cease from a life due to sin (Rom 6:1). It's the same with God's eternal life, the life is eternal, but for this realm (we've not been transformed into our divine selves), the possession of it is not yet eternal.
If one falls into sin and does not repent, God would not force His salvation on them, just as He never forced them to receive it. In John 10:29, Jesus says "no man can pluck them out of my hand", yes that's true. But a little backward reading (from verse 26) would show the real truth of that statement. Jesus was talking about those who hear His voice and obey Him or "follow" Him.
Thus, let everyone who has received eternal life guard with all diligence, lest he fall.

1) the guys are first given 5, 3 & 1 talents, they didn't work for it.
2) the two guys who succeeds are the ones who trusted their talents to the banker.
3) the only one who fails is the one who didn't trust his talent to the banker, but worked to protect it.
4) *the only ones who did work here, are the banker and the one who failed!* (when you put money in the bank, it's the banker who works, not you)

I'm a firm believe in "once saved always saved". But like he said, it's not for us to decide who's saved. Many will come saying "Lord Lord, let us in" and He will say "I never knew you." Notice how He says "Never". He doesn't say "i don't know you anymore." Even though this verse is evidently about people who thought they were saved(as it lists off a lot of the works/miracles they did in Jesus' name)

Another passage that I interpret as highly definitive on the distinction between eternal life and the part that bearing fruit and doing works plays is 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

13 each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.

That’s right. This is the doctrine of the Judgement Seat of Christ.

Many, like this young woman, are not actually reading their Bible (at least not chronologically, and because they are jumping around, or reading things out of context, one piece here, etc.), which is evident because the Bible has ALL the answers to the questions we have, and they would know that if they were reading it daily. But, because they are NOT in a Bible group/based church, and/or most importantly, reading their Bible daily, they retain the confusion that stems from the leftist (secular--non-Christian immoral world views aka lies) that they may still be holding onto, which is preventing them from understanding what they are seeing/reading/listening (Word of GOD, Biblical scripture).
Yet their desires (stemming from the Holy Spirit) to seek clarification and knowledge is hopeful since it denotes, they're on the RIGHT path that leads to the truth, which stems from GOD (John 10::27-28); But the confusion (of the left teachings) is discouraging to them. Therefore, they need guidance in order to find their way through the "fog of war" (lies misinformation) generated by the leftism (aka secularism) in this Spiritual War for the soul of humanity, which we are at the Center of. Those who subscribe to leftist ideology lack the desire and courage to know the truth, preferring the lies they consume from the leftist cool aid they drink, which produces the delusions they believe and prevents them from understanding and/or accepting the truth that is the Word of GOD/Jesus' message of hope that Christians share. (John 12:40 & 2 Corinthians 4:3)
And as such, I would add (the what Dr. Turek stated) the following passages--to provide more clarification/context on this issue to aid others on their path to the truth outlined by the Word of GOD:
Micah 7:5-7, we are taught NOT to trust in others, or our own understanding/minds/hearts--but place our trust in GOD--therefore, we have to turn to the Bible for the answer and guidance, as well as with prayer to be properly led by GOD, with the Holy Spirit, by following Jesus' example who shows us the RIGHT path to follow to get to GOD.
Matthew 25:1-14 - Jesus shows the difference between two types of individuals (Matthew 25:33) one following Christ (on the RIGHT path), who's doing what they are supposed to, the other is not, following their own wills--and NOT GOD's--remaining complacent and taking for granted their opportunity for salvation that can be found in Jesus (those who adhere to leftist doctrine/ideology).
To provide more clarity on the "talents" symbolically represent the gifts/virtues (knowledge, skills, and abilities--more specifically, Patience, Courage, Charity, Integrity, humility, strength, etc.), which we SHOULD, and MUST, share with others--it is through these "talents" that we can connect with others, and they with us--trading gifts with one another, increasing them, and gaining more gifts from the process, so that together we become better for doing these things, which by doing them, we are honoring and serving GOD, becoming ONE nation as we do, in which life, liberty, and justice is received and applied to all, building the society that GOD always intended for us to have, a society that currently only exist in heaven. ONLY GOD can create paradise--every time man attempts to do so (serving their own wills) they only sustain and/or create hell. (leftism)
However, if we fail to do what GOD wants, they we (as before stated) were following our own wills, and NOT GOD's, which is why Jesus "doesn't know" those who do, what they do (following their own wills or that of the devil's), and why he then orders those standing on his LEFT hand "depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels" who are all those who freely choose to follow their own will, and LEFT GOD's ways for their own.
Which is why it is important to READ the entire Bible, because in doing so provides contexts to what is being read--as Jesus stated, he did NOT come to oppose what was reflected in the Old Testament but validate it. The purpose of the Old Testament is not only to show how humanity fell from grace, but how and why it remains in darkness (brutal wilderness that leftism created), and despite many miracles and GOD's help, humanity is unable to save itself or find its way back to GOD--which is why they keep breaking the Covenant between them and GOD, which is what necessitates the final Christ--because ONLY GOD can save humanity from itself (which is the story of the New Testament). It is ONE story, inspired and told by ONE GOD, with ONE TRUTH for ONE PEOPLE, to do the RIGHT things, and follow the RIGHT path that leads back to redemption, forgiveness, and salvation--which can ONLY come by accepting the sacrifice GOD made for us, because we cannot do it by our own means--those who still think so, are still holding onto leftist doctrine and therefore believe that there are more than one truth, more than one way to reach GOD, and can "cherry pick" the Bible. (John 12:42-50)
And this is why one, who has truly accepted Jesus Christ into their hearts NOT only become more like Christ (not right away, but sincerely are committed to serving GOD), begin to "invest" the "talents" he gave them, which produces more followers, which then allows more prosperity for all--and all by serving GOD. (2 Corinthians 1:12 & 5:17)
I hope this helps those who may still be confused about this passage as well as what is required and expected from all followers of Christ Jesus--it is NOT enough to believe (as Dr. Turek often as pointed out that even the Devil believes/knows GOD, and that does not mean he and his fellow leftist will be saved), but FAITH without WORKS is NOTHING. (James 2:12-20)

2 Corinthians 13:5 “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you? - unless you fail the test.”
This is the one verse of many that make me unsure about once saved always saved. Our salvation is freely given but we are told here that we can fall away from the faith. This is something that I feel needs to be studied because it’s really hard to find a definite answer. Like frank said I can’t tell you if that person is saved. Our hearts are deceiving and wicked so we can’t say anyone is saved for sure but the Bible shows us how to be saved. Align your life with the word of God and you can have assurance that you are saved. Live your life poured out for God and seek Him. Do His will and chase after His heart.

One thing on “Losing salvation.” The verb “losing” implies that it’s yours to earn in the first place and the bible says in Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace ye are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God.” You can never be worthy to earn the gift of salvation. It was a gift that was given freely by God. And only God could take it away.
The first scripture she mention regarding the talents is found in St. Matthew 25. We cannot actually determine who's saved and who's not. Though we can question anything.

There it is. I couldn't remember which verses said it, but there was another where Paul said it would be easier for a pr0$titute to inherit the Kingdom of God than someone who turned away after being saved.

We can’t just say we believe and not live the way Messiah wants us to live. We can’t be hypocrites. We need to ask for repentance and thank the Lord every day
She makes some great points and asked some great questions. I think she’d feel right at home in the Roman Catholic chirch. Roman Catholicism teaches that justification is a process. It is something that begins when we first become a Christian, which continues in our life, and will be completed when we stand before God at the end of our life. Faith is wonderful, but we must also walk the talk. If we fall back into mortal sin (serious sin that breaks our relationship with God) we lose our justification/salvation. We then must go to the sacrament of reconciliation (confession) and have that mortal sin absolved. Then we are back in communion with Christ. Dying with unrepentant mortal sin places the Catholic in danger of going to hell. Not saying that anyone is or has been condemned to hell, as God is not bound to the sacraments as we are.
I'm not sure if it's possible for someone to lose their salvation. Maybe it's possible for someone to walk away, and maybe they were never real to begin with, but I don't know. But luckily, it's not our job to determine who exactly is or isn't saved. If you love Jesus, follow Him, share His gospel, love people, He takes care of the results. And if you're worried you may have lost your salvation, you probably haven't, if anyone needs an encouragement.
Yes I would have to say there's a very big difference between "oops I sined pleas forgive me" and "I enjoyed that come join me" AKA promoting or accepting the sin.
I struggled with this for a long time. In scripture there's about an equal amount of evidence to support either direction. For me, I believe once saved always saved. The reason being is because if you can lose your salvation by sinful acts, then that's basically saying you can earn your way into heaven. Which we all know no one can earn their way. It's a gift. You don't earn gifts, they're given to you. And unto us grace has been gifted.
Also, I've heard that if you do go back to your sinful ways, then I'd have to question the legitimacy of your repentance. Like, do you really believe and did you really accept Him?
I think the defeating argument to the lose crowd is when a man is committing adultery with his fathers wife as a new convert. The church is told to “give him up for the destruction of the flesh so that they spirit will be saved in the day of the Lord” this guy is committing a heinous sin but is still going to heaven. Of course lager he repents. But God doesn’t commit spiritual abortion. Once you accept him and he’s your father he will treat you as such. If you slide into sin he will punish you as a father but he’s not going to kick you out of the family.

Do what you like but I’m trusting in Christ alone. It won’t be a perfect walk. I’ll make mistakes. I’ll sin, though not intentionally or out of want. But I’ll trust in HIS blood and accept HIS free gift from his grace and mercy. I’m not trusting in a single thing I did to earn it. Even my righteousness is as filthy rags.
