      Maxx Snow Contrary to what a lot of people think, "prime" Shaq was when he was young and thinner in Orlando. In the 95 Finals, he was in his 3rd season, and had a lot more post moves than he did later in his career. Look at his stats. He was just as good in Orlando as he was in LA. Maybe better.
      Once he got up to 320lbs+, Shaq resorted to just bulldozing people under the basket. He got away with offensive fouls just about every other time he touched the ball.
      We saw prime Hakeem vs. Prime Shaq for a year or 2 (especially 95 finals), and Hakeem was better. Shaq named Hakeem as the greatest center when asked a few years ago. If you want to see that, it's in a video about Olajuwon that's here on youtube. Shaq was playing for Cleveland at the time.

    shaq is a legend in the NBA, but dikembe mutombo was a GREAT player also. He is the second best defensive NBA player ever ( after olajuwon). He played in the NBA for 18 seasons and retired until he was 42. he deserves as much respect as "shaq". Of course shaq is way more popular and a lot more famous in general, but most people who watched mutombo blocking shots during the 90's agree that he was great. ***** the points count...what the original poster is referring to is the fact that Shaq seems to think he "dunked on" Mutombo. In order to dunk on someone it has to be contested by the other player. The first attempt was contested by Mutombo and Shaq missed the dunk. He then grabbed the rebound and went in for an uncontested dunk. Now why Shaq, after missing a dunk in a game that his team was losing by double digits, felt the need to do a finger wag is beyond me.

    Dominant? Anyone else notice the refs talking about Mcgrady in the beginning (he presumebly scored right before this play) and the stats that pop up? 30 pts and 8 asts.

    cant even express emotion in the game anymore everythings a technical because its taunting... thats what sport is ffs pouring your heart and emotions onto the court to win a game of bball where did we go wrong here?

    The referees gotta let that stuff ride because that makes the game interesting. Shaq was a boss right there.

    MJ did the same thing only difference is Shaq was right up in his face and that's why he got the technical.... funny part is that mutumbo never saw it lol
    Edit: I never knew MJ got a technical too I just watched the full video

    @onniviljamaa4293 10 років тому +6

    I don't think Dikembe even noticed his finger wag... So the technical was for nothing. And why can't you wag your finger in NBA anyway, that's just ridiculous.

      not aloud to spike the ball or do a little victory dance after a touch down in the NFL either, our kids are being taught in school that everybody is winner. Everybody gets a trophy, there are no losers. America got soft and unrealistic. Small interests groups have all the power, now our kids are gonna be so soft they will think they just deserve everything, and you dont have to work or practice or strive for it. Gonna be a real reality check when they are in the job market.

    shaq should have fouled out of most of the games he ever played in. The NBA needed a dominant big man because Ewing had fallen off. I imagine any ref that fouled out Shaq would have been fired.

      Alkemize he has right shaqs prime started 2 years after being a rookie.He never developed something,not a free throw not a decent shot neither grear defender (only blocks),neither new post moves.It was his height and weight that helped him be dominant.

    It's about RESPECT, respect for what the man does. You respect great men and women. And I'm sure Shaq has a lot of respect for him deep down. I wouldn't be surprised if Shaq said he didn't really think before doing that. Respect for people like 2Pac, Michael Jackson, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Mother Theresa, Barack, Oprah, Stevie Wonder, Patrice Emery Lumumba, Steve Biko, Thomas Sankara and some more AND last, but not least Dikembe Mutombo.
