The VHS Distortion at the beginning of the NBC Night At The Movies Intro greatly enhances the experience, I think.

I love the Mazda ads! The first car I bought by myself was a Mazda, so they remain close to my heart (even if mine was a 2012 and not from the 70s lol)

4:17 - "Potato peeler?" "Hair curler"? This woman should write a book - 100 Uses For a Toilet Bowl Cleaner...

Paul Masson once again! You all owe it to yourself to seek out the outtake footage of some of his other Paul Masson commercials - the best comment left there on that was "Poor Orson. He sounds like HE was fermented in the bottle himself."

In the words of the man himself: "Aaaahhh the Frensh...shampain..." An absolute classic.

Nice; great upload! I live about 40-50 miles west of Baton Rouge, so that's pretty cool to see a station that I kind of grew up on before I was even a thought!

The girl in the Ruffles commercial is Largo Woodruff. From 1977-1985 she was in TV commercials all the time for all sorts of products. She played Becky in the made-for-TV movie based on Kenny Rogers' song "Coward of the County."

    AAAAH... the FRENCH champagne...

Is it still a thing where you can only call yourself Champagne if your grapes are from that particular area of France, or have they relaxed that by now?

@@andrejg4136 Per a 2006 wine trade agreement between the US and EU it's illegal to export American grown Sparkling Wine that is branded as Champagne to Europe, and most American wineries have changed their labeling to reflect this. There are still some cheaper American brands like Cook's and Andre that do not adhere to this, since they're only sold domestically.
The request from the French to disallow labeling California grown sparkling wine as Champagne actually dates back to the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, which the US never ratified.

    Deliverance-poor Ned..
Paul Masson Champagne-the dramatic pause in the delivery of the tagline seels it
Close-up Toothpaste-i'm sure Larry wouldnt have noticed the difference if she used another brand
9 Lives Cat Food-Sylvester then asked Morris to come back and do the commercials again due to the beating at the hands of the bulldog
Vanish Toilet Bowl Freshener-peeling potatoes with that would be murder
Legend Of The Golden Gun-wouldve loved to see a crossover with the Lone Ranger
Ball Park Franks-cooking them on a spaceship bridge is a bad idea
Airwick Carpet Fresh-as opposed to,say,an"Italian clean smell"..?
    Whodunnit-who would murder Quincy?
Jeep CJ-William Riker just stole your girl
Breck Shampoo-legend has it the announcer is still saying"..and lasts.."
Wheels-camera guy at the end was so excited he couldnt keep the camera steady
Sandwiches at 7 Eleven-next,everyone do"The Roast Beef dance"
    The Duke-@16:46 ..Grab his belt,quick!!

2:15--I think this was shortly after the death of the original Morris. I know several other cats have played Morris since then, but it's kind of cool to see Sylvester filling in. (BTW, Looney Tunes fans will be happy to know that as of 2021 the cartoons are airing on Me TV.)
5:44--No competitors are mentioned in this spot, but I remember the "aspirin wars" of the 1970's very well, and Anacin was one of the brands involved.
8:25--I love the catchy jingle, but I think I'll take my Ball Park franks grilled, not microwaved.
9:25--Do they still make aerosol deodorant? Arrid was the first brand I used, and I remember that I wanted aerosol because that was what my father used at the time. That was before we knew how harmful aerosols are to the environment. (BTW, the Arrid jingle is also pretty catchy.)
11:26--"Everything you always wanted in a beer--and less." Kind of funny that I seem to remember a lot of beer commercials from this period because in 1979 I was 13 years too young to legally drink the stuff.
11:56--I think Breck shampoo is still around, but it's hard to find in my area these days.

12:37 At least Cortana Mall lasted into the age of UA-cam, when people could post videos of it. Pretty sure the most Bon Marche has is old commercials...

There's actually a lot of great footage of malls that people recorded in the 80's and 90's that is slowly being digitized. Here's a great documentary I came across a few months ago about a mall in Long Island, NY: ua-cam.com/video/YmWTHCHHzZY/v-deo.html
Also the site of the Bon Marche mall still exists, and is home of the Bon Carré Business Center. It has been heavily renovated since but it still occupies the same basic footprint of the old mall.

Are Paul Masson Wines still a thing? I mean the bar I work at use the Brandy from that brand here and there, but I didn't think to see what other liqours and etc. they might have.

In 2008, the Paul Masson wine line was sold by Constellation Brands, along with the Paul Masson winery, to the Wine Group. However, Constellation continued to produce Paul Masson brandies until 2021.
      ...
In a $134 million deal in 2008, Wine Group LLC of San Francisco purchased the Paul Masson winery, which had ceased making wine in 1952, and now serves as a conferencing and events center. Wine Group LLC subsequently removed the Paul Masson name and renamed it "The Mountain Winery".
