Raghuvaran is one of the most handsome actor in the Indian Cinema / world. What a song and music by MSV. Mesmerizing. Best music ever.Wonder why Raghuvaran never made it big as a hero coz he is as handsome as Kamal. Before Shah Rukh Khan happens in Bollywood, we already have Raghuvaran in South who is more handsome then SRK. If Raghuvaran was in North, maybe he wd hv been as famous as SRK, coz he is way too handsome, and not fully used as hero. Rajini also not good in dancing, not even half of his good looks, but became super star. Raghuvaran was not fully utilized as a hero despite having most handsome face in the world, fair, very tall, and slim. He is extremely good looking to be villian. I think God loves India so much that he only puts his beautiful creations in this land. Like Aishwariya Rai & Raghuvaran. (Both are beautiful creation beyond imagination). Only in India, we can find. I have never seen anyone as handsome as Raghuvaran in my life. How anyone can be this handsome? By the way i am staying outside India and am not Indian citizen.
He is not proved as hero...He is my favourite for negative and supporting role only... Surprisingly he is looking good here...But handsome is too much bro...Kamal only handsome on 80 s.. karthik,ramki another pick...Suresh too

With due respect, his first film "ஏழாவது மனிதன்" was talked too much and it was a flop after he didnt get too much chance. Later his chances got affected becoz of his habbits in drugs (but i am not sure about this)

Great creativity by Thiru MSV .. everygreen song that cannot be matched in terms of its musical beauty and enchanting high class lyrics by Thiru Pulamaipithan.
SPB sings with his God gifted voice and his creativity threads through the tune making it his own!. BGMs are superb with lilting guitar plucks and haunting flute pieces. Tabla variations and playing style for the charanams are unique and imaginative. What captured me as well was the excellent camera work for its time .. Amala is small in stature compared to Raghuvaran and the cinematographer was clever in how he shot the song to mask this gulf and bring out the romance and beautiful landscapes. The camera captures in the beach with sunset was sublime. Rarely is a song good from all angles .. this is a rare piece of gold!

@rumba many folks came in films before IR started his career. Panchu arunachalam anger with MSV at that period was the reason for bringing IR. Ref: story writer Selvaraj interview in chai with chitra recorded few months. MSV prowess in rumba, waltz jazz, tango are noteworthy and evergreen till date. Prior to stereo era. Listen and see MMFA Tube channel, the explanation given Dr.Ashok Vaikuntam (IIT Alumini).

MSV still had the ability to create such awesome songs even in the late 80s. SPB rocks.
Unfortunately not all the songs created by him in the late 80s measure up to his high standards set by himself. This song is fresh unlike many of his other songs composed during the same time. This is an unbiased view .Opinions of course will differ

MSV's work is very vast. With compositions like these he is like Bala Krishna who was caught by Yashoda eating mud. What did she see when she prised open his mouth? With every passing year, MSV's work stands taller.
Let me make one thing very clear at the outset. I am a great fan of MSV & have no intentions of belittling him He was one of the best MD in India, but at the same time, I enjoy & appreciate good music irrespective of who creates it. If I had gone by success rate only I would not have appreciated this unknown song. The movie I understand was a box office failure. This fact was confirmed by none other MSVs longtime assistant Ananthu. The fact is that there is a change in trend once in 10 or 15 years & a new sound emerges which is very fresh and lively. MSV who was the trendsetter in the 60s either failed to notice it or did not have the resources at his command to counter it.All the leading musicians of his band like TKR, Henry Daniel, Govardhan, Mangalamurthy, Noel Grant etc had left him due to certain misunderstanding or simply went in search of greener pastures.MSV also did not keep himself abreast of certain technological developments taking place in the music industry.The result was that his creations for little-known movies which came his way in the period 1985 to 1994 started sounding little stale and old fashioned. His passion for music was there until the end, but he was unable to recreate the magic of the 60s which made him the Mellissai Mannar. This is purely my personal views & I am sure lot of people are going to either counter my views or oppose it.
I have never doubted your respect for Mellisai Mannar. Just that the question of changing trends, collaborators, for me is detail - just as Rahul Dravid said, “On the off-side, first there is God, then there is Ganguly.” Today when we listen to an MSV composition like this one, you feel like Yashoda looking at Bala Krishna - not the grime on dust on him, but the entire cosmos swirling about inside his mouth! I would like that just as MSV composed a happy "Namma ooru singari..." in a minor chord, Raja decided to do a sad song like "Kannil enna karkalam" in a major chord! As lesser mortals we can just watch the Jambavans and Hanumans compare notes!

This song is a killer..what a rendition by SPB and MSV
MSV's brilliance apparent in the tune as well as his Opening Swara rendition in this song and SPB shows his penchant of enjoying the lyrics as well as the composition thru his own singing although he tends to slightly overdo his flamboyance. The very opening aalaapana by MSV has been sung by him in Bageswari, but later on shifts.

Can anyone whether a professional or an amateur bring out the dazzling brilliance? MSV had said it's based on Raag Pahadi. I am not familiar and yet to learn. It remains to be seen if MSV had added extra features or swaras.
I have heard the opening alap a hundred times but I can't figure it out. I am not a qualified musician and hence the difficulty. It's extremely difficult to learn and sing
Generally its very challenging to codify MSV s composition and this unique song is out of bounds for raga analysis.

Highly hailed song picturising stalwarts were Bimol Roy, Rishikesh Mukherjee and Rajkapoor. After filming the song sequence of ' Nithham nithham en kannodu inba nila ' (everyday I see the dearest moon in my eyes) for the film Kootu puzhukkal, the director raised to the level of those veterans mentioned above. In a film, based on an Epic Novel an intimate song where a gentle lover sing and move about his heart throb require much thought and precision in all aspects. It is like walking on a tight rope. The director had done it in a dignified manner and deserve all our appreciation and admiration.
The song to read as " nithaham nithham en kannodu inba KANA ( everyday I see the dearest dream in my eyes).

கூட்டு புழுக்கள் படத்தில் நடிக்கும்போது ரகுவரனுக்கு அமலா மீது காதல் வந்தது. ஆனால் அமலா அதை நிராகரித்து விட்டார். இதனால் கவலை கொண்ட ரகுவரன் குடி போதை பழக்கங்களுக்கு அடிமையாகி விட்டதாக பல வருடங்களுக்கு முன் ஒரு முன்னணி பத்திரிகையில் வாசித்தறிந்தேன்.
அமலா ரகுவரனின் காதலை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டிருக்கலாம். நல்ல ஒரு நடிகரை திரையுலகமும் இழந்திருக்காது.

ViswaRagam...msv ragam. I think this unique number can not be defined as one single ragam
MSV had said in an interview that it was pahadi. However, Hindustani musicians couldn't put a name for the raga. Viswa raga is the best answer.
