    Another excellent video Allen! Informative and in-depth,thanks for taking the time in making these and uploading them for us these are a very high quality boiler and I’ve used quite a few myself last 5 to 10 years ,I just wanted to point out that after making enquiriesOn the plastic components inside these ,it turns out they are the same composite plastic materials that is used in the automotive industry i.e. water housings, let manifold and radiators, and they have proved their worth and reliability .I’ve never had one leak from any plastic component like you normally would expect from a Worcester ,vaillant ferroli baxi etc, even On a 13year-old boiler all the water housings are solid and not showing any signs of wear

    Hey Allen
    After watching several of your reviews and maintainance/ install videos I chose the viessmann vittodens 100-W 35kw combi to replace a Vokera system boiler that had a broken heat exchanger at 8 years old. Had the heating engineer install it last week. The unit is working great and much better than before though I think the HX was clogged up and performing poorly on the last unit. Hot water is vastly improved due to pressure as we had a tank on a half landing with a header c.1 meter above the showerhead so now get blasted with water. Heating is great and the unit performs as you have described. The heating engineer I used was trying to get me go another brand but I felt confident to stick to my choice based on your videos. Thank you for making these videos and giving good advice that end users can follow.

    I fitted the new Viessmann 100 Combi at my mums house last Monday.
    Great boiler to install and is hydrogen blend ready for when we get it in the Greater Manchester area.
    I agree that it is better having copper instead of rubber hoses.
    I think they are more reliable than rubber.
    Excellent boiler.

    Hi Allen, I had one of these installed last year. When the guy from Viessman came to do the service I asked him which inhibitor I should use and he said none, don't bother as Viessman don't recommend using an inhibitor. What's your view?

    I installed my first viessmann the other day, I usually fit worcester boilers (I know they're overrated but it's just what customers want and I've never had an issue with them), and I'm really impressed, I'm definitely going to be trying to use them as a preferred boiler from now on.

    Hi Alan, great videos. Keep up the great work. I’ve always liked the Veissmann boilers. Installed the old Vit-100 in mother’s & mother in laws. Only had one issue with one of them with the bulging and split on one of the rubber hose. Known issue that they can blocked up after a which, which is one of the reasons they switched over to copper in the new version. I’ve installed a few Ideal logics especially when ideal launched them after trying to recapture some of their market after the issues of the icons & isars. They were offering some pretty good warranties and pretty much lost faith in the over engineered Worcester’s and persistent splitting hydro blocs.
    What I wanted to ask is what boiler is your choose as being the best out of all the available combis? The new vit-100 is a top choice if in large cupboard but what would you go for if the client wanted a boiler to fit inside a kitchen wall unit? PS I’m a supervisor for a multi trade maintenance company in Leeds, I’ve had my gas for 15 years but if I’m honest have not done nearly enough gas work in those years. I was originally a multi skilled plumber & topped up my skill base with level 3 plumbing & gas.

    Dear Allen. Really nice comparison, thanks for the video. I have the older model the vitodens 100. It had its annual review today (all is good :)) and your vid came to my mind so I asked my service guy about the rubber hoses. He said that indeed the steel is more reliable and the rubber hose can be blown off in case the boiler overheats (sorry if I didn't understand correctly I'm no expert). However he said that in case some sludge gets into the boiler it gets stuck on the inside of the rubber hose while it would go through the metal one and could damage the boiler. He said that with the rubber hose he can easily check this by pressing the hose as he would feel the built in sludge on the inside of the hose. For me it is not an issue as I have 2 dirt separators in the system. I'm really curious about your opinion :). Keep up the good work and all the best!

    Quick question - On the new model how do you put the heating on if the WiFi was to be down in the area as we control ours via a Google nest. Is there a way to put it on via the touch screen as the screen only sets temps and doesn’t seem to physically fire the boiler?

    Installing the Vitodens 100-w B1-HC 26kw ( system boiler). Was a bit disappointed it was a four pipe configuration, utilising a Viessmann internal diverter instead of my usual external Honeywell S-plan. Also I needed to purchase a Viessmann "cylinder demand controller" to my Gledhill unvented. This was extra cost as the DHW side is only on volt free contacts and not 230vac like the space heating. Hope this feedback helps others.

      I got the 2021 version 100-W 35 kW combi installed start of May 2021, It is working well on Opentherm for me, this 2021 version of 100-W allowed to set max CH hot water flow temp while using opentherm for boiler settings. The Vicare app allows me to remotely see if the boiler burner is operating and what modulation % , and the flow temperature set point called by the opentherm controller (I am using evohome) and what flow temperature reached . I find this very useful as the boiler is in the loft . The turn down declared is a low of 3.2 kWhr , but I suspect is lower as the % on the burner goes down to 8% (indicating 12.5 :1) , I suspect that Viessman dont want to declare this because the turn down capability gap between this and the far more expensive 200W (1.9 kW/hr, ie 17: 1) becomes narrower. I am not sure what justifies selecting the 200W , because the 100W now have the lambda pro combustion feature of the 200-W and does not have does rubber stupid hoses . One neg point however there is no longer an mini expansion vessel included inside the boiler as plastics supposed to be rated for 30 bar (I would still fit a mini expansion vessel, I dont have that much fate in plastics as they age > 10 years )

    • @inveritas3332
      @inveritas3332 3 роки тому

      Note added, I originally was going for the 200-W due to its best in market turn down , but I wanted opentherm which the 200-W , I learned , does not strangely cater for . The 2021 100-W , ticked 95% of the boxes for me of the 200-W and did not have the rubber hoses (which seem a odd design choice for premium boiler),

The burner was cleaned out and the condensate trap too. Notice this sound more when boiler is on medium to high fire. I can send you a video. Could it be a venting issue or maybe running temp not high enough.

      Allen Hart didn’t even know they made them lol but I was looking around at what’s available, came up with the known ones like Mitsubishi Ecodan, hitachi therma v, samsung etc then came across Viessmann one and everything seemed better on it, just seemed one step ahead in many respects and I guess that’s typical of the expectation in regards to German engineering.
      And looking at the video you have just done, the rubber hoses didn’t seem like a good idea, still not too keen on plastics lol but that’s more my personal perception on plastic for what it is rather than proven functionality.
      But certainly this new design looks pretty solid, well built and designed what with the copper pipes, stainless heat exchanger, built in PRV with combined discharge into condensate and intuitive menu design.
      I haven’t purchased a heat pump yet but it’s the intention to do so, only thing is they are one of the more expensive brands... but I guess if the quality and design lives up to the name it’s worth it for reliability and how well the product performs.
      Shame heat pumps are so expensive but when installed right, they are the way forward I think. Installation is a big issue though, only reason I’m considering it is because underfloor heating is being installed throughout.
      I did actually look into beneath heat, ironically they are only about a mile or 2 down the road.
      But they said they strictly only deal through merchants, and a few others wouldn’t give me the design to look at before committing which was important because 1 supplier came up with a design which would of had cold spots.

    Is it only me who finds touch screens retrograde. I serviced a ten year old Viessman ( heat only) this morning. To get it to max and min you just twiddle the right hand control ..dead easy. At ten years old it looked like new, but did need a PCB two years ago. Beware also Viessman do not use GC numbers so to identify the right spares make sure you have the boiler serial number handy. That nails the right bits.

    The rubber hoses are fine, had never seen them fail, even really shoddy ones. However plastics do fail, common issue (still not fixed in latest ones) plastic part in pump block un-glues itself, thus making pump not pump, good news is that if it fails, it fails in warranty period in first year. (so far have replaced 3 of those in 1 year). Also expansion vessels are garbage (but hey, witch low end boiler doesn't), if you have option, then it is advised to install regular home depot expansion vessel parallel to system, a lot cheaper to replace and better quality. Another new issue that seems to be appearing lately is ignition/ionization electrode cable failure, again, if it fails it fails withing warranty period. Most (if not all problems) come from users who fill their system with water full of calcium and iron.
    About boiler in general, good value boiler, stainless steel really does the job, it also supports all non freezing heating liquids (unlike bosch al+si heat exchangers that need additional heat exchanger to run system on anything other than water.) It's pretty much perfect to run heated floors. Outside temperature regulation is garbage for most systems, it is very hard to adjust it to perfection. If you want proper control, ether buy some old school room controller or use viessman ''open therm 2'' expansion, there you can adjust heating curve a lot better.

      Thank you for your interesting comment you put up for us I just wanted to ask you which country you are in ?i as here in the UK it is very uncommon with most people and heating engineers, but I generally run many of my viessmann boilers on a diluted antifreeze solution , the boilers seem to run betterQuieter I’ve also noticed that heating efficiency improves as I assume the antifreeze solution is easier to heat up , it most certainly circulate a lot easier and quieter. what are your thoughts on running these on antifreeze? Also with the solution the rubber hoses on the flow and return do not seem to get sludged up at all. I understand from viessmann technical they are designed to run on antifreeze.

    • @bobsempires
      @bobsempires 3 роки тому

      @@SalimKhan-gk1fh Im from Latvia. As I mentioned viessman supports most heating liquids but Bosch/Junkers/Buderus heat exchangers do not. While it's rare here that people run antifreeze/elfaterm/other heating liquids those who do have mixed results. Primary issue is that most technicians dont carry pump with them at all times and the liquid is messy if your boiler is installed in kitchen. Regarding efficiency Its quite opposite, bit less efficient and sometimes boiler has to conpensate inertia (water has higher heat energy capacity than any other liquid, thats why yours heats "faster" with special with antifreeze). Benefit of course is lack of calcium and other minerals in system.

      @@bobsempires Greetings to latvia from UK my friend, I hope you are all well and surviving this difficult year thank you for the information which is very valuable I think you are a proper engineer may be trained in viessmann boilers ? it is very difficult to get information here in UK as the heating engineers are not very interested and just use inhibitors on every install ! Installation quality is higher across Europe, you will be surprised to know I am actually usingVolkswagen G13 antifreeze! [It’s environmentally friendly and biodegradable and not toxic] In a Viessmann 100 combination boiler I am using a approximately 5 L concentrated antifreeze in 80 L system capacity, so around 5% concentration, I am honestly finding this is working very well as I said the heating system is heating up much faster with the boiler quieter (reduction in pump circulation noise?) and gas consumption on smart meter Seems to be improved, after five years I removed the plate to plate heat exchanger and it was completely clean! The UK has big problem with engineers putting brand-new boilers onto old very dirty systems maybe you don’t have this problem in Europe? Everybody is complaining about the rubber hoses blocking in the viessmann vitodens boilers When actually they have no understanding of system water quality!!!
