    i put mine in the back of my mailbox without the antenna (switch the switch opposite from octagon).. it works off Amazon Sidewalk now, so no bridge needed. Also had it discover my ring in the alexa app and made it say 'You've got mail' when the mailbox is opened.

      Interesting! This is the only ring accessory that wouldn’t work reliably for me. That’s interesting about Amazon Sidewalk! Which Amazon device(s) feed the signal? I’m hoping that they release a Ring Mailbox V2 with solar panel and WiFi.

      Echo dots feed the Amazon Sidewalk low range network outside their home. Most people share it to the public without realizing it

    I used a yolink outdoor door sensor and it's much cleaner and hidden well on inside of my mailbox and works great.

      Cool! I went with this because I’m
      deeply invested in the Amazon ecosystem with eero and Ring.

    Why not just run the wire through the hole at the top of your mailbox?

      I don't want to risk letting rain hit my mail =)

    Batteries don’t last. Can I convert to solar with rechargeable batteries?

      It’s great that you said this because I’m hoping for the same thing…a solar Ring mailbox sensor and an upgrade to WiFi. The mailbox sensor is the only Ring product that I’ve owned that has disappointed and those two small updates would make it perfect! The technology works but the battery life and range kills it!

    The wire going into the mailbox could end up getting damaged, you should drill a small hole for the cable

      I agree. I intentionally did this because #1 I don’t want a hole in my mailbox and #2 I want to test the cable’s durability for review purposes :)

    I would have placed the sensor on the inner side, or on the top of the mailbox facing downwards rather then placing it on the bottom where it gets in the way.

      Good idea. I put it on the bottom so that it doesn't spook the mailman.

      @IrixGuy , your ring sticker stops the spook.

    can you mount the sensor vertically inside the mailbox?

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  2 роки тому

      I don’t see why not….vertically on the inside side wall of the mailbox.

    It looks like you have a hole on the top of the mailbox already, could you run the wire through it?

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  2 роки тому

      I could have but I'm kind of curious to see how it holds up mounted like it is now.

    Can you tell me what the range is for the antenna to work? I live in a villa and the mailbox is about 75 yards from my front door?

      I love Ring but the Ring mailbox sensor is finicky. Unless you have direct line-of-sight, that range is likely questionable.

    Uh, rtv/silicone is your best friend. I'd never place my sensor in the front bottom. no way. you are just asking for it to be knocked around by packages

      I wish that Ring would release a solar Wifi version of the mailbox sensor.
