Hi Bud, another very good YT video showing another useful routine with SmartThings & Amazon Alexa working together in concert. I have a metal mailbox & wondered if that would interfere with the magnetic sensor detecting & open or close condition? Thanks for all your SmartThings uses & ideas over the years!
That’s a good question. I would think that you’d be all right as a lot of those mailboxes are made out of aluminum which I don’t believe is as conductive. Thanks Dan. 😊
@@donwhite2347 - good to know. I’ll have to check to see if they are compatible with SmartThings. I assume they operate on the Z wave protocol, is that correct?
I would buy it but I'm thinking. The junkies in my city might take that to. My neighbors said that one of the neighbors spotted thieves. So half my neighborhood have already replaced their mailboxes with the lock and keys

Hi Bud! How do we connect the "Mis A" as a voice assistant on the Samsung Smartthings app?
Sorry. I thought you found another way to write it down on the Samrtthings routine making the Alexa speaker announce
.
They have a mailbox sensor
Hi Don. Who has a mailbox sensor?
@@BudsSmartHome Ring have mailbox sensors for $30

@@BudsSmartHome Not sure what protocol, but it does require the bridge if you use it with the Ring ecosystem.
@@dhrandy Thanks for the info. I am using these with SmartThings with a Ring Alarm driver.
Did not understand what a “Miss A” app is, you stated so fast I did not understand what a miss A is, thanks
I substitute the phrase "Miss A" app to refer to the Alexa App. This is done to avoid the "Alexa" wake word and trigger listener echo devices.

Sounds like a difficult neighborhood.
