Just like you Jeff the genesis will be my first green room bag as soon as the put it back in the wild card those lid pockets are awesome😊 looks like the best bag I've ever seen.
@@jesserivchin8163 I usually include that in the video, I’ll have to watch this back and see if it’s in there or not. If not, I’ll have to try to dig up the old invoice to see the exact specs of it.
Thank you very much for covering extensively this backpack. I have also seen the xp42 rainmaker and since i want to buy one, could i ask you some questions? How did the exp400 and xp42 held during this time? Which one between the cordura, xp42 and exp400 is the most durable and long lasting? (i love the fact that the exp400 is 100% recycled) I will use the rainmaker as a personal item during my travels, can the large size be squeezed into 42cm height even though it is 44cm height? thank you again for your amazing reviews!
I would say the durability of both the EPX400 and VX42 are about the same. They have a fairly decent abrasion resistance, but cordura would be the most durable out of the 3. Also the most pliable. The back pannel is not ridged, but it is well padded. The EPX and VX will both be a bit stiffer than the cordura, and the cordura will soften up and break in with time. So your best best might be the cordura. You will also have more color options.
I would go with the EPX. As far as noise goes, they’re both basically the same. But I feel like the EPX is a little smoother and a little less shiny. The X pattern is definitely less prominent as well on the EPX. Overall personally, I prefer EPX over the VX material.
Nice detail review 👍🏻. Finally decided to customized mine yesterday after watching your review for a while. Had include your advice with the side water bottle pockets. Enjoy your reviews keep it up 👍🏻😀
Fantastic review, Jeff!! Question about those side slots, the ones without any closures... in your commentary about your rainy ride home, you didn't mention anything about water accumulating in either of those pockets. Is that a "danger" of this design? It looks like the main latch cover doesn't cover those. I would think water would accumulate in those side pockets without any covers over the openings. Have you found that to be the case? Thanks!!
If you’re referring to the liner pockets, they can protrude from the top flap if you haphazardly pack the bag. But if you know that you’re going to be in some weather, you just have to make sure you tuck the top of the bag in when you close the flap and they should be completely fine. This is my second Genesis. The first thing in the quarter version, and both bags operate the same. If you just quickly close the flap or over stuff, the top of the bag, the liner pockets on the sides good pop out. But just take a little care when you’re closing it and it’s not an issue.
They list the sizes in the stop down menu. If you want a bigger size, just drop them in email. I’m sure they can make it happen for you and let you know how big they can ultimately make it.
Where do you put your camera cube? You didn’t cover it and I really want to know because I’m in between getting this bag or the Wandrd PRVKE 31L for holding my dslr and two lens
I didn’t use a camera cube with this bag. I believe I did with my original Genesis. But I would just put the cube in the bag. If I didn’t need it, I would put it at the bottom of the bag access so I could get my edc. If i was going out to shoot, I would put my edc at the bottom and the cube on top. This bag will accommodate a Tenba BYOB 9 and a small or medium GR136 cube. If I were to get a bag for my camera, I would choose the Prvke of the Genesis. Two compartments, side camera access, and both compartments can be added together of not using camera gear. My Prvke 31 is like 5-6 years old and I still love it and use it often.
First out is the Garage Built Gear Ultimate EDC Organizer. Followed by a VX bag from Riveted Oak on Etsy. Then a Vanquest style organizer. The blue pouch is another Riveted Oaks. EPX400 Pocketbook Slim and Sardine Tin. First Aid kit and pill case from amazon. The green/black in the water bottle pocket is another Riveted Oaks (they had a sale and I bought like 5 pouches from them). And I might have missed them, but the pink pouch and the camo pouch are both custom pouched Eric Au from Skinth Solutions made for me.
I’m not a fan of the colab bags. They are a status symbol. And the fight to get one is not worth it. The only bag I really like and wish I went in for was the dragon. But I’ve never used one, so I may have hated that too. Also the CTB wasn’t my style. I’m a CHZ fan.

Right on!
Can't decide if I should get the Genesis or the Northseeker to add to my Greenroom collection... I already have a Rainmaker.
@@amylaw5303 easy….BOTH!
Thanks for this review I’ve been looking for a good long term bag this looks great
This bag is great! If it’s in the most settings, and will last you a lifetime.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA would you be willing to post the list for this exact build?

After having this and the Rainmaker VX42; which material would you choose? Which of the two materials are less "noisy" and less "shiny" Thanks!

Great overview! Does the Genesis have any type of frame sheet?
It does not. But with the laptop sleeve in the bag, it does kind of act like one.
You could stick a kydex sheet in the secret pocket.
collllll! real review!
Thanks for watching!
You’re the first person I’ve seen make note of the pinching caused by the sternum strap. Feels like a weird thing they should have fixed a while back.
This will actually happen in any bag that features a strap that fully wraps around the shoulder strap as apposed to only the webbing on the strap.
Did the Ecopak save some weights ?
The EPX is lighter than the Cordura. But it’s about the same as the VX.
