I’m personally not a fan of bright orange. That’s one color I prefer in a burnt or more rust colorway. I can do it in small batches. But I like the bright atomic pink the best. And it is Miss Hazel Fantastic approved!
I have the 20L, my only gripe is the external water bottle holder but found a spot for it in the front zippered compartment. If only it was a tad bigger to at least fit a 24 oz
That was one of 2 main issues I have with the 20L version. The cordora limits the size water bottle you can use. I know GR136 tested different stretch materials for the water bottle pockets, but they were not happy with the results. But the 25L has bigger pockets and will allow more bottle sizes. The other issues was lack of organization in the front zip pocket. Which is also fixed on the W?ldcard options.
I will say, I don't use the compression straps too often, but I prefer to have them for those tomes I do need them. I think the webbing looks killer on the Atomic Pink Cordura.
I would definitely opt for the compression straps. I have one of their 25L Northseekers now, and it does feel a bit deep. I will order them on my custom.
Fantastic! This helped me with some of the choices for my Northseeker! Had they opened up that hidden side zip 3-4 more inches, it would ahve been an excellent side access laptop compartment. I don't understand their choice, but I'm sure they have a reason.
This is more for hiding travel documents. Their design is for the laptop to be kept internally. That is what the inner velcro strips are for. That will allow you to add the removable laptop sleeve.
I was going to do a section in my 25L RUR of each size. Maybe a stand alone video is warranted as well. Are you a first time parent or have you been to this rodeo before? If you are a first timer, go with a 25L. You will end up buying, and carrying far more than you will actually need. The baby industry is built this way to make you buy more junk than you will ever need/use. If you have done this before, the 20L will be plenty for you. The smaller bag is also easier to manage. So when you are trying to sling the bag to get dipes and wipes while trying to also hold a soiled child who is actively trying to get poop, food and puke on you.... the smaller bag will be much easier to navigate. The smaller bottle pockets are plenty big for bottles (you could probably fit 2 per pocket).
@@jeffgrantMEDIA thanks for responding to me and sharing your experience as a parent Jeff! Looking forward to the RUR video. I am a first time parent, but also looking to not pack non essentials so as to reduce load. We travel by trains and buses a lot so that’s a consideration as well (not too bulky). Comparing both, do you find the 25L particularly bulky? I understand it’s 2 inches of depth more than the 20L. Looking at pictures online… the bag can either look very slim even if it’s a 25L or look really bulky when it’s a 20L. If all else fails, I’ll get the 25L!
@@HighMountainOolong I went into using the 25 L after using a very slim tapered 22 L pack. That was much more of a teardrop style back. So the 25 L rainmaker did feel bulky compared to what I was using prior to going into this bag. But if this will help, before i go to work today, I will try to shoot a quick short showing the depth difference of the 20 L to the 25 L bag. I’ll just stuff a pillow or something in each of them to make them completely full so you can get a full visual of what each looks like. If I forget, I’m sure remember at some point during the day and do it after work. I hope that will help you make a good decision.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA thanks for affirming that a 25L do indeed feel bulky! Jeff, I really appreciate you offering to do so even though I am just one subscriber/confused parent to be. It will definitely help me make a good comparison! Looking forward to it. Have a good day ahead!
Haha. I wish got it. It was in my gear room and she walked in and her eyes lit up and she wanted to use it for a hike. But it’s like 100X’s to big for her.
Ive been waiting for the custom orders to come through to get a sneak peek so I was super excited to see this. Seeing the 25L fully open made me realize I actually don't need that size haha I'm curious to see a hands on review of the top zip quick access conversion.
If you check out my 20 L review from earlier this year, I talk about the top access zipper pocket. I really like it and I find it actually incredibly functional on this bag. More so than I really thought it would be. Either late this week or early next week I’m going to film the review of the bag I’m currently working on. And then this will be my go to bag for review. So expect to see this sometime in early February going live for the full real user review.
@@jeffgrantMEDIA Nice, I'll be exited to see the full review. I watched your other video a lot! I've been finding everything I can about this bag haha. I wanna make sure I'm 100% confident since it will be a custom order. I'm torn on going for the top zip conversion. I'm not sure how much I'd use it and whether it's worth the cost. I don't know if you saw but they posted a picture of it on Instagram. It looks pretty shallow. With the new utility zip pocket it feels redundant. Since you can also reach the top inner pocket of the main compartment through the top zip as well, that could work as a QA too.
@@xavierm3825 I use those too two pockets as my QA pockets with the zipper. I saw the IG post and I grew it looks super shallow. I would suspect the two top pockets are still there on the inside. So the QA pocket has to be that shallow or it will block them. I would only be able to fit my work ID in that pocket. But that’s what the webbing on the front is for. I always get to the door and forget my badge in my bag. So I keep it on the outside so I can just reach around and grab it. I probably would keep a pen and sharpi in that pocket if I had it.
@jeffgrantMEDIA thanks for your thoughts! It's helped me figure out what I want when it comes time to order. Appreciate all the work you do and communication with your audience!
How long did it take for you to get your bag from build to delivery? I ordered in October and just got a shipping notification which is super frustrating; I expected to have my bag for a trip in early December
I ordered in mid October. They were pretty clear it was about a 2 month lead time on the build. They are crazy busy and in the midst of calling up production. And my bag was just put into the que. I was not given any special treatment because I was reviewing the pack.
There is section in this video of this build up. I also have a video on the GR136 site in the W?ldcard section. Do you need something more in depth of how to see what sections are what colors? I can definitely do that. That is something I think GR136 may also like to post to the site.
Are there any specific reasons why your prefer it over the Genesis? I was interested in the Genesis, but was disappointed to see you couldn't customize it any longer 😢
I just really love the over all performance and userability of the Northseeker. I really love the look of the front vertical pocket. The Genesis also has a front vertical pocket, but it is tucked on the side seam, nicely hidden. But the Northseeker just looks cool with it right on the front. And with the addition of the organization now available, it is awesome! The big selling point is the full clam shell opening with dual water bottle pockets. As simple as that sounds, most companies do not do that.
It will be back. They had an employee that does among the custom work get injured last week. So they temporarily halted some productions. They specifically named the Rainmaker, but I know her being out is taxing the whole production line temporarily.
'What do you think of the Atomic Pink mixed with the MCB?
I would totally rock it!
I haven't seen a pack that just screams fun more than the one you had built!
Love the pink/mcb. Great build and I love that we share a love of greenroom.
Thanks! The bag and company are great! And my mini me..... tried to steal it from me as soon as she saw the pink front panel.
