    2023 update. Not much on the bike has changed but the rear rack now has an actual light rather than a reflector. Not only that, the rear light blinks when the brake levers are depressed. Price is higher by about $200 or more if you get it built at a shop.
    The lights also come on automatically when it is dark, although you can override that.
    I opted to remove the front rack since it prevents the use of a Kuat type bike rack with a swing arm.
    He doesn’t mention that the bike has a walk mode which is very helpful in places where you need to get over logs or snow banks, but it is a little too fast for those awkward situations.
    Worth repeating that this bike weighs somewhere in the 60 plus range depending on size and setup; no way it is 50 lbs as noted in the website.
    The battery can get pretty wet and really cold in snow riding, and batteries do not perform well when cold. I bought a pair of gaiters from the company that made the camo pattern and fit it over the battery. It works great, but now I have trouble finding the bike.
    Jk, looks better and seems to increase range in the cold. Btw, somewhat slow charger on the 14 battery, not sure about the larger one.

    The 2020 Surface bikes all use the TMN drop out torque sensor. It's super reliable and easy to replace if there is a problem.

      hey Daniel! thanks so much and so glad you dug it! i too like the more powerful motors, but of course there's always the tradeoff of range when you bump up the wattage. :)

    Happy New year Brent I'm a 400lb rider with a rad rhino so the max limit on this kind of bike is to protect the moter and battery the bike it self will have no problem supporting larger rider's.

    I have been interested in getting a bike like this for hunting. I do a lot of hunting on state lands, which don’t allow motorized vehicles. But BATTERY powered bikes are usually fine. I’m getting older, and dragging out deer on large tracts of land it’s becoming too much of a chore. I would love to own one of these. But gosh damn they’re awfully expensive!

    That front brake cable needs to be zap strapped to the fork.

  • @dannywilson2675

    For that steep price it should come with metal finders to keep all the rain and mud from splattering all over you and it doesnt even have air shocks!

    • @electrifiedreviews
      @electrifiedreviews  4 роки тому

      hey Danny! metal fenders are great as far as rigidity goes, but they don't flex and they rust if the paint is scratched. not saying they're bad, just not ideal for mtb purposes. you can add aftermarket mud guards of your choice to most e-bikes if you prefer though!

      @@electrifiedreviews I guess if it would float inverted you could drop it in a river with a strong current and get some decent range out of her.

    • @electrifiedreviews
      @electrifiedreviews  4 роки тому

      Brian Bassett well you can do almost anything once. 😉 but ya, fatter tires like this definitely decrease range compared to narrower tires of the same size, but taller tires can actually increase range compared to shorter tires, while shorter tires can increase torque by giving hub motors a mechanical advantage. just like with most things, there’s a trade off

    • @brianbassett4379
      @brianbassett4379 4 роки тому

      @@electrifiedreviews There is nothing more important than range on any ebike, even if it only a few miles going really fast or 20 miles crawling along through snow. If this bike could hold a reasonable battery it would be a much better bike. I'm sure it's fun to ride for a couple hours.

    • @electrifiedreviews
      @electrifiedreviews  4 роки тому

      Brian Bassett range is definitely an important metric. the stock 10.4 ah is pretty average but the 14 ah is a nice bump. would be cool if they could offer a 17 ah too for people want even more range

  • @colinsmith3938
    @colinsmith3938 4 роки тому

    lots of cheap Chinese parts cant have much range with these fats tyres

    • @electrifiedreviews
      @electrifiedreviews  4 роки тому

      hey Colin! most of the parts on this ride are actually pretty good. which parts do you think should be upgraded further? and you're definitely right about the fat tires though, they do eat into the range.

  • @lumberdog198

    Never heard anyone talk so much and say so little. Not sure whats so special about this bike. Is it a a gear hub motor? What material is the frame made of? Isn it a standard tapered head' Who makes the crank and petals?what material are the rims made of and brand? if they don't indicate they are samsung cells then you might not get samsung cells. This whole review sounds more like hype than a review. 2 back packs ? Why didn't you use the racks if they are so great? Why didn't you go threw any mud or water? This whole thing is a big Meh............
