- This endgame Arc Hunter melee build will allow you to punch your way through everything from strikes to raids to Nightfalls while generating an insane amount of grenade and super energy! It is an excellent pick for solo flawless dungeons with its excellent survivability and devastating burst damage.
This build is an update to my old Arc Hunter build for the new Lightfall mod system. While we did eat a nerf to One-Two Punch and also lost Well of Ions, the additional ability uptime on our grenade and super that we can achieve with the new system makes up for the loss. The build evolved with the Lightfall changes, and it is now more of a hybrid build than a pure melee. It is still borderline unkillable, and it still blows up Champions faster than they can react.

The first version of this build was what launched my channel last year, so this build will always be extra special to me. It seems that I've been known more as the Stasis guy recently, but those of you who have been here from the beginning know that this is where it all started. Hope you enjoy the Lightfall-evolved version of the build!

Great vid! Always love your builds. Only changes I'm really making is that I'm taking off the duplicate heavy handed and bomber mods since duplicate mods have surprisingly diminishing returns right now. A second heavy handed mod only brings the orb from ~0.75% to ~1% super recharge per orb and a second bomber mod only changes the grenade return from 12% to 15%. I replaced them with the firepower mod in the arms and special finisher in the class item. With the amount of orbs you make and the synergy with the assasin's cowl, this makes ammo concerns with any double specials irrelevant. Great stuff as always mate! Been rocking a similar build to this for solo stuff but reworked it with better stat armor after watching this.

It's really satisfying! Barriers die before they realize you're smashing their face in, and Overloads and Unstoppables get stunned and subsequently deleted.
Was low-key waiting for this. Used your old arc strider build and your guides last season to solo flawless Pit of Heresy, Shattered Throne and Prophecy. Solo'ed Duality as well, but I died to Caiatl once, so have to try that one this season again, as well as getting the others done.
Looking forward to trying this build out. Your old Arc build helped me get my first solo flawless dungeon (PoH) and then some. Appreciate your vids!

Thanks, glad you appreciate it! It bothers me too when a "broken busted build" is shown in a normal mode Lost Sector or even worse, a Patrol Zone. Any gun that shoots straight and some movement key input will "break" patrol...

You made this build the first time, around the time I was getting into Destiny. I was mostly a solo player and still kind of am but, thanks to you I’ve solo flawlessed every dungeon and a few master nightfalls. I would consider you my “Destiny Mentor”. You taught me how to excel in this game when I was brand new and now I teach new lights in my clan and I’ll always appreciate you for that. Keep up the great work my man.

Nice build, Dorvarich. One my favorites. Most other Hunter builds - even solid ones - feel weak in comparison. I just find myself praying for ads to appear…
Glad you enjoy it! I ended up falling back on this build to finish the Day One, switching off Void Hunter which is super pushed this season with the artifact. Even then, this one managed to feel amazing.
@@Dorvarich Tbh I thought I would have to step away from Arc Hunter with all those Strand/Void/Solar surges and mods, but I can't, it's too perfect for me. I wonder how it's going to feel when it'll be Arc season.

The gist is that Volatile Flow means you don't have to use Gyrfalcon's, so you can use Orpheus Deadfall instead + Echo of Reprisal to chain tethers back to back. Wavesplitter has been sleeper OP for a while but the addition of Reaper really pushed it over the edge, and now the community seems to be waking up to it. I'm going to miss my secret OP trace rifle once it gets the inevitable nerf.
This one is my favorite build since I found it in seraph season ❤. Nice video.

Huh, I've been waiting for your take on the updated build. You are the singular reason I have ever considered building out my Hunter, with how little use I found for them in PvE before that. As a Titan at heart who misses his melee centric approaches, this build more than tides me over the recent synthoglaive nerf.
The Titan Bonk setup is still really strong. But if you want to use "real" melees, I think this is definitely the way to go!
@@Dorvarich Haha, yeah, I know; still makes me feel itchy that the artillery archetype tends to have the better melee fantasy than the "at close quarters, a fist is better than any gun/fists don't need reloading" archetype. Still love Siegebreaker as much as when I first laid eyes on it though. This just gives me a very good reason to flesh out my other characters while keeping in line with my personal favourite power fantasy.

Hell yea, i remember those solo dungeon runs you were releasing weekly were fantastic. It pulled me away from Liar's Handshake.
Since arc 2.0 I’ve been using a similar build. Made this Warlock main really enjoy the Hunter class.
It’s also very satisfying to run around punching stuff and getting your energy right back 😩

Ever since season of Plunder and your original Arcstrider video I’ve been subbed, and I’ve also run a personalized variant of it ever since. Day one Lightfall I scrambled to reconstruct the build and found it only got stronger. However… thing I’d like to point out is that Spark of Haste grants a bonus of THIRTY to the upper three stats for just sprinting. So, if you find yourself short on stats, Haste could be a good flex slot fragment.
a variation to this is to ignore your grenade and use spark of haste to increase all three of your top stats by 30 and run both amplitude and feedback.
I'm surprised you're not running the new "Spark of Haste". I found it to be pretty helpful, and similar to one of your mod setups from last season. As always, a great video!

Any thoughts on running a copy of Emergency Reinforcement instead of a resist mod on the chest piece?
I don't like Emergency Reinforcement because it's only a 10% resist. But it would certainly fit into the build since there's nothing else competing for armor charge stacks.

this is still the build i go to, when going in to tougher activities. i made similar rework and one for Lament also.. but will try with tractor.
I've used this build since last season. I named it "Arcy Punchy Bullshit." THIS season, holy cow this build is much stronger. Glad to see this build being covered.

Thanks for the update build. I loved the original one and had some success with it, but with changes to resilience and mod system, I found doing solo dungeons with the new one more difficult. Unfortunately now you have to play better and more careful, because the build won't do it for you, that sucks :P

In the grand scheme of things I dont really know how optimal it is but I feel that I must say that Conditional Finality, the RoN exotic shotgun, slots in really well here. You're trading melee damage from one-two punch for pretty great utitlity in the form of strong cc from being able to freeze and shatter any threatening target that isnt a boss level enemy to then being able to ignite them for some decent damage and killing nearby trash. Both Shattering and Ignitions stun unstoppable champions as well. Using this shotgun alongside a crafted ikelos smg with voltshot with this build has felt like an absolute dream. I also use a crafted commemoration with repulsor brace and volatile flow from the artifact as LMGs are really good this season and the void overshield is nice for suvivability.
Put simply, not only would you have access to 4/5 sublclass verbs at your command: Freeze,Ignite,Jolt,Volatile. But you'd also have all 3 champion types covered: Shotgun stuns with ignite and shatter, Jolt on its own stuns overload champs alongside an smg. and a void lmg can deal with barrier champions with volatile rounds and in the same breath, you've got both close range and long range engagements covered. Sorry this got to be so long but I cannot help but gush over how this combination has felt for me especially with the build provided in the video. Truly the first setup that has clicked with me on such a level that I had to just share. Regardless, I wish nothing but goodluck to all those chasing the raid shotgun!
As someone who uses to love the Liar’s Handshake build it’s really sad that it doesn’t work anymore.

Surge on boots if needed with Dilation on cap.
For champions, specially unstoppable using Leviathian breath is a good option since everything else is easy to cover and still good weapon to dps boss.
Ah, I've used this build since before I subscribed.
As for an exotic, I recommend using Wish Ender! Infinite ammo + intrinsic Antibarrier makes you an all-around Champion slayer. + It's a long-range weapon. For my heavy, I just use Hothead but tbh you could also use linears or whatever else you want.

When lightfall dropped, i personally updated your old arc build focussing more on survivability and not grenades. I barely use nades with this build. Hence, I use Better Already leg armor mod, which has saved me a couple of times and I use finisher mods in my class item to fully restore HP when we're in a dicy situation. Other than that, I also focus on heavy weapons, as those are very important for dealing with bosses. So, I use heavy ammo finder mods and weapon surge mods, which can also help boost one-two punch just a lil bit more. Also, are you sure 2x Heavy Handed has any benefit? I've noticed with just 1, you can still keep making orbs with every powered melee punch.
It makes the orb refund more super energy than just the single copy of the mod, it's the same functionality otherwise as just one copy
try using Heartshadow sword with this so that you can use the heavy attack while invisible on bosses or something big to weaken them and stay invisible also giving you a speed buff when invisible and wielding the sword ( though it doesnt stack with amplified )
Holy crap, 25k now. I found the OG when you were at a couple hundred. I of course built the original when it debuded and really never took it off until post LF campaign (it took me through the entire story). I'm having fun with hanging stuff up rn and Arc is out of pocket until S21 but still this is very strong.

Kudos! Damn I like the build a lot! I personally did not like hunter before but now It’s so much more fun and I even completed my first solo lost sectors on hunter with it and my warlock sits in the corner now and cries 🤣
One question I have is, what is the exact gameloop for dealing with champions ?
Clearing the adds besides them first and then dodge shotty punch punch ? I have some trouble with barrier champions
I never played shadow keep (I'm a new player) and never wanted to, but I've been running this build without the assassin's cowl and it's still pretty OP.
This vid may have given me just a bit of nudge to finish that campaign to get it.

Why use bullet when punch do trick?
You can use same build with Liar's Handshake for more dps but without invisibility, it's perfect for gambit (last time more than 50k dps to boss), same dungeons etc is really cool :)

This is just as good as the old version for solo dungeons. The hit we took to one-two punch damage won't make much of a difference against dungeon enemies.

Do you really need so much mobility or would it be better to put those points into another stat? I know recovery isn't very useful for his build as well, but I've had assassin cowl fail to proc so many times that it may be a bit more useful.

6:55 how are you doing so much damage with your melee without one-two punch? is the melee by itself that strong?
i went in a tried to remake my assassin's cowl build from last season, and it just felt so...lacking? it essentially does the same thing still, but less effectively since, like you stated, the charged with light and well mods that supported melee abilities are now gone :( that and the seasonal artifact just doesn't promote using arc sub-classes at all. i'll probably come back and revisit the assassin's cowl builds later on, hopefully when they bring back the melee focused mods. until then i'm probably vaulting this exotic, which is sad because i really loved these builds.

Do you run any sword charge mods to make lament a better DPS setup, or do you find it not worth the slots now?
The loss of Lucent Blade's 35% bonus hurt a lot. But when I'm using Lament for DPS I do switch onto Solar Surge mods. When I'm going full tryhard I actually hotswap my boots for another pair with triple Solar Surge.
Everyone asks me how I solo the avalon mission on legend.... it's this right here.
