How to use Eucalyptus Essential Oil
I’m Andrea with Aromahead Institute :) I want to share three of my favorite ways to use Eucalyptus essential oil. See the time stamps for each blend below!

Eucalyptus is a popular essential oil, and many people reach for it when they feel like they’re coming down with a cold or flu, or if they have allergies or congestion of some kind. Eucalyptus is excellent for that! It loves supporting the respiratory system! But Eucalyptus has other uses, too. Let’s learn some of them!
There are many different species of Eucalyptus. I have Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus radiata. They are very similar in their uses, chemistries, and from an aromatic perspective. (Although I think radiata is a little softer!) I have more radiata, so that’s what I’m using today, but just know that the different species of Eucalyptus essential oil are pretty interchangeable.
    🐨 Eucalyptus Use Number 1
0:47 - Eucalyptus Essential Oil Cleaning Spray
This is such a simple natural cleaning recipe! Not only does the Eucalyptus essential oil help to clear away germs, but I always feel like I’m supporting my health as I clean-I can feel it opening my breath as I wipe down my counter! I love that!
I have a 16 oz (480 ml) spray bottle, and I’ve filled it most of the way with water. Then I’m adding
    Dash white vinegar (1:22)
2 ml (50 drops) Eucalyptus essential oil (Eucalyptus radiata) (1:44)
Instead of counting all 50 drops of the Eucalyptus essential oil, I’m using a graduated cylinder to measure 2 ml. (1 ml is approximately 25 drops, so 2 ml is about 50.)
At 2:50, I’m adding the Eucalyptus essential oil into the 16 oz bottle. Of course, the water and essential oil don’t mix, so I always give the bottle a good shake before I use it. Then I use it to clean any surface in my home that likes water-based cleaners, like my counters, sinks, shower stall, bathtub, and more.
I make this blend fresh every few weeks since it’s not made with preservatives.
Enjoy cleaning your home and supporting your health!
    🐨 🐨 Eucalyptus Use Number 2
3:45 - Eucalyptus Essential Oil for Topical Pain Relief
This is a Eucalyptus blend for topical use that can really help to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and encourage circulation. Eucalyptus offers a comforting cooling sensation that feels so good to tight muscles, or areas of hot inflammation.
I have a 10 ml glass roll-on bottle for this blend, and I’m using jojoba as a base.
10 ml jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) (4:23)
6 drops Eucalyptus essential oil (Eucalyptus radiata) (5:00)
I know that 6 drops doesn’t sound like a lot of essential oil, but this is actually a nice strong blend for pain relief. Eucalyptus essential oil is very “good at its job!”
At 5:15, you can see me pop the roller-top onto the bottle.
You can use this blend for achy muscles and tension, or even if you’re feeling a cold coming on. (Try it for aches and pains that come along with the flu!)
    🐨 🐨 🐨 Eucalyptus Use Number 3
6:01 - Eucalyptus Essential Oil Steam
Have you ever noticed that when you have a stuffy nose, a cold, or any kind of congestion in your head, that steam seems to help unclog it and clear your breathing? This technique takes advantage of that “magic effect” steam can have, and adds the support of Eucalyptus essential oil.
All you need is a bowl of hot steamy water. Then add 1 drop (just 1!). Now close your eyes, lean over the bowl, and breathe in the nourishing steam. You can concentrate the steam around you by draping a towel over your head.
🌿 One tip that I’ve found handy . . . be sure to have a box of tissues nearby!
You can steam for about one minute, then blow your nose, and steam again if you like. It’s helpful to do this several times a day if you’re getting sick, or if you’d like to prevent getting sick. After your steam, you can leave the bowl of water and essential oil out to continue diffusing into the air. (It smells so good!)
So there you have it-a few ways to use Eucalyptus essential oil that you may not have thought of before. I hope you connect with this amazingly supportive essential oil and make it a part of your life. It has so much to offer! 😃

If you use distilled water and distilled white vinegar, the product will last for 1-2 months.
You can also add a dispersant to the blend which causes the essential oils and water to homogenize.
Simply add to your beaker the essential oils and add in the same amount of dispersant. Mix well.
Finally add the dispersant and essential oil blend with the water/vinegar mixture and mix well so all ingredients integrate.
An Australian Essential Oil Company "Springfields" sells an essential oil dispersant.
Other dispersants are Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 80 (mainly used for skin care, baths products, etc), Quinessence's Solubuiliser and Solubol.
A good natural preservative that will allow your product to last up to 6 months is Potassium sorbate. Potassium sorbate inhibits the growth of yeast and bacteria as well as mould and microbes. Its is found in many products as it provides a longer shelf life.
Another ingredient I use is Caprylyl Glucoside as it is a highly effective solubulizer and also acts as a gently cleansing surfactant that is great for cleaning products.

Love eucalyptus!! I got a new bottle of sweet almond oil and I was transferring it into a glass bottle that I store my oil in, stays cleaner than a plastic bottle. My dog was sniffing the air, I had a little on my finger and she was trying to lick it! Definitely one of her stranger moments but apparently almond oil is one of her favourite smells, who knew! 😂 😂 😂

      Eucalyptus Lemon Shower Spray
3 drops Eucalyptus Globulus essential oil (Eucalyptus globulus)
3 drops Lemon essential oil (Citrus limon)
1 oz (30 ml) Water (distilled or filtered)
      1 teaspoon Vinegar
      Equipment
one 1 oz (30 ml) Glass Bottle
      Directions
Make your cleaning spray in a spray bottle. Pour the water into the bottle. Add the vinegar and the essential oils, close the bottle, and shake gently.
I suggest making this blend fresh every few weeks, since it’s not made with a preservative.
      To Use:
Shake well before spraying this on your shower walls and wiping them down with a clean rag or paper towel.
I like to use this blend after I take a shower. It works great for any surface that’s water-friendly. All I do is spritz it on my shower walls and wipe them down, and then I don’t have to worry about things like mold or grime building up.
      Safety Note
Eucalyptus: Use with caution for topical applications on children between 5-10 years old, avoid applying close to the face.💜

okay so I got a cold a few days ago and now my throat is sore so I had a friend tell me that I should get arbor oil spray from a health store that he uses everyday for his mouth. So then i went to the store and the people up there told me it would be a good idea too and that they also all use it for their mouths. so I bought a small bottle and sprayed inside my mouth twice and moved it around my mouth then spit it out. my nostrils cleared up and my throat started feeling a little better. Is what I did safe or was it stupid. im still a little concerned. is it toxic for the body? Its called Arbor Oil/pure essential oil of eucalyptus 80 - 85% cineole content. and the bottle says for external use only but other people say otherwise. please reply, thanks.

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  5 років тому +1

Hi Lara Everett! Glass is ideal and if you prefer it’s definitely a good choice. Most plastics react with essential oils and we always use and recommend PET plastic which is non-reactive. You can use PET plastic when you’re blending essential oils into a carrier oil, water, or gel. Sometimes plastic is handy, like for travel, cleaning products, or blends you’ll use in the shower (where your hands might get slippery).

Lara, for both glass & PET plastic bottles try here: www.sks-bottle.com/340c/PlasticBottles1.html
For essenial oils, there are many wonderful companies. We like to recommend buying from companies that import directly from the distillers, that test every batch of oil with GC/MS, and that share the batch specific GC/MS reports with their customers. This ensures quality and demonstrates accountability. Here are a few we can recommend:
      Aromatics International - www.aromatics.com/
      Essential Elements - essentialelementsstore.com/
      Pompeii Organics - www.pompeiiorganics.com/
      Florihana (US) www.florihana-us.com/
      Florihana (Europe) - www.florihana.com/en/
      Aliksir (Canada) - www.aliksir.com/

    Wat is hobo oil?

    • @aromatherapyoils
      @aromatherapyoils  3 роки тому

Hi Emma! Jojoba (pronounced ho-ho-ba) is a carrier oil. It’s actually a liquid wax. Pure, raw jojoba wax closely resembles the natural oil produced by our skin, called sebum, which means our skin reacts well to it. It’s great for even very sensitive skin. Jojoba absorbs into the skin and leaves it feeling very soft and smooth, almost silky to the touch, and not oily or greasy.

Hi Debbie Morales! One company we suggest is Aromatics International. I've done a quick search and here's a list of the Jojoba they carry: www.aromatics.com/search?q=jojoba*

      @aromatherapyoils  Рік тому

      Hi Ethel,
There can be anywhere between 18-35 drops per ml, depending on the oil viscosity and the size of the orifice reducer - each oil is different, and it is not an exact measurement. 💜
Here is a link to a recent article we posted on the Aromahead Blog where we explore this topic a bit more: www.aromahead.com/blog/should-you-blend-essential-oils-by-drop-count-or-weight
