thanks! I'm going to try and make a rotating photo stang with a fabric band as a birthday gift for my mom. The idea would be that she can rotate something and unroll the band to reveal the next photo so she can choose which photo she wants to show, this way she can change up the decor easily. for the structure i thing i will use laser cut wood ( one of my friends has a laser cutter so after I prototype is with cardboard I'll work on making it as a file). This seems easy and pretty affordable.
Looks great. I am taking on a memory blanket with all my family past and present and the product you used to transfer from paper to fabric is perfect for my project. I read the best material to use is cotton, cotton blend or polyester. Very excited to start😊
This is great. We lost our 23-year-old son this past April and I've been wondering what to do with his clothes. I'm thinking about making pillows with them, and having a picture of our son in the center. I have enough of his clothes to make at least one for several family members. I'm wondering about longevity of the photo, and fading in general. How permanent would something like this be?
So sorry for the void I know you must feel daily. I said goodbye to my little brother, baby of 5, April 10th and I said goodbye to my husband of 20 years, just 20 days ago on the 5th. My heart goes out to you. My mom used a paper to print the images on and can't remember how she went about it but it's "life permanent" She made my cousin Kwith a quilt of the places he went with James Brown while he was a lead guitarist for him for some time and it was gorgeous. She made it look 3D as if the pictures were sitting inside frames. I'm wanting to make a quilt from my husband's shirts, images of our lives and 1 for his daughter and granddaughter. Did you make this yet? Praying for comfort for you and all loved ones.
So sorry for your loss. I hope you did keep his things to remake. There are amazing ways to turn anything into a beautiful memorial. Deepest condolences.
I have done this...works great on wood too. Couple of tips...mark the back of your pictures with an arrow or the word TOP so you don't accidentally place one sideways or upside-down. Maybe order them with numbers, too. Once its covered With goo, it's hard to see what's under it. If there are words in the design or you want it to print exactly as you see it. Make sure you get it printed in reverse.
Not the same at all!! This formula is washable and works on fabric. Regular Mod Podge can sometimes transfer to wood depending on if you use a laser copy......but not fabric. If you use regular Mod Podge you might be able to get a faint transfer on fabric but I would not look like bright like this. I hope that helps.
I was really helped by this video! Thank you for making this. I was one day curious to see what would happen if I used Ink-jet printed photos. While they didn't turn out as good, It worked well. But if you want the best results, you are right, laser works best. Overall, thank you so much!!
@handmadehappyhour I have sponged away until the image appears. However, it still feels like it is paper on the fabric. Should I keep sponging away, or is that how it is supposed to feel?
If all the paper pulp is gone after the image has been sponged and dried...and you can clearly see the image then you are done. It will feel kind of like a film or iron-on.
Thank you for the tutorial! I want to transfer a cartoon character image that I copied from the internet to a pillow case. I wanted to know if It will work only on white fabric, or I can do it with any fabric color? Thank you!
Thanks! yes I think it would work. You would need to be careful when you rub the paper off and maybe do a mini test. But I do think that could work. Great idea!
It needs to be a laser copy ......like a color copy from kinkos, staples or from a home laser/drytoner printer. Inkjet is water based ink and won't work. I hope that helps.
@@HandmadeHappyHour what does plain paper mean? If I go into Staples and tell them plain paper they’ll likely ask me to be more specific. Thank you so much for this awesome information❤
Have you ever tried this method on fabric shoes? I have a couple pairs of white fabric shoes that I wanted to decorate and my painting skills aren't the best so I wondered if this would work?
This fabric was a little bit textured...it's canvas. So the image as a small amount of texture kind of like a printed canvas. If you use smooth fabric or t-shirt fabric the image is smooth.
Thank you for sharing your awesome video this is brilliant just what i was looking for 😊 god bless you and stay safe 😊
Thank you!
Thanks so much! I wnated to make a messenger bag and have pictures of cats on the pockets!!! Your tutorial is so helpful!!!!
You’re welcome! I hope you love how it turns out!

Great idea! Yes - The best fabric is cotton.....or blend. 100% polyester might not work so well. :) Cathie

Great tips!!! Yes - I love marking the backs.... Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful!! A lady at Michael's told me it's the same thing as the regular mod Podge and it will work just the same. What are your thoughts?

Hello, great video! I wanted to know would this technique work on black fabric/ will the pictures appear on black cotton fabric?
Just a thought. If there is wording on any photos, you would have to print them flipped is that right? Or the words would come out mirror image?
Yes you will need to flip the words or they will end up a mirror image.
What is this magic? Thank you so much I had no idea the stuff existed
@handmadehappyhour I have sponged away until the image appears. However, it still feels like it is paper on the fabric. Should I keep sponging away, or is that how it is supposed to feel?

Is this machine washable, or would it have to be cleaned by hand?
I just saw this video. Can you use this in quilt. Can it be washed
Thank you for the tutorial! I want to transfer a cartoon character image that I copied from the internet to a pillow case. I wanted to know if It will work only on white fabric, or I can do it with any fabric color? Thank you!
Aloha, awesome vid & info, mahalo!
I don’t a printer, I usually email it to UPS and they print it for me
Yes - That works perfect. I do the same with Staples. :)
is this the same way they print tiny pics to use in quilting squares???
so people do.... or they use sheets that you print on a printer and then iron on to the fabric.
What kind of paper for the photo
Please. If it is pillow cloth, for example, can I wash it by washing machine? Or does it erase the print. Thank you
Do you think It would work on Monks cloth?
I want to do a punch needle project of some pics I've taken.
Great video tutorial 👍 ❤️🇨🇦
Thanks! yes I think it would work. You would need to be careful when you rub the paper off and maybe do a mini test. But I do think that could work. Great idea!
Can this be hand washed if needed?
Yes!~ I hand wash and hang dry. :)
Thank you for this!
Can I do this to a quilt I am making. Can you wash as many times as you like.
Love it. Thank you for sharing 😊
Your are so welcome! Photo transfer takes a little time but it is so fun in the end.
can I apply sealant?
Can you use an office jet printer???
It needs to be a laser copy ......like a color copy from kinkos, staples or from a home laser/drytoner printer. Inkjet is water based ink and won't work. I hope that helps.
Will this work with slip dresses?
That is super cool! Thank you.
Will washing it in the washing machine remove the image transfer?
Nope....the image will stay. I don't usually dry in the dryer. And I wash in cold.
Do the pictures have to be printed on photo paper or just regular copy paper?
Regular printer paper
This just normal copy paper really wow been running around photo machines
Is there a clear finish I can use to make the colors pop more?
This is my same question. Wish she got back to you.
Is the photo paper called matte ? So far tried 3 places walmart... CVS and. Walgreen s with no luck
The best paper is regular weight printer paper. Actually thin paper works best. I like to use color copies from kinkos or staples.
Do you need to mirror the pictures?
yes - if they have printed words or logos. If not you don't really need to.
This is so cool! Can you do this with a fake silk?
Do you know if it is polyester?
@@HandmadeHappyHour I havent bought any yet but I'm planning on after seeing this!
Does polyester silk work better?
@@TheAcorn314 natural fibers like cotton or silk will work best. Polyester ... I would avoid. Cotton works the best.
@@HandmadeHappyHour ooo okay thank you for your help!
Great idea! I wouldnt want to discard the actual photos tho, so would a photocopy work as well? And how well does it handle a wash?
yes - only color laser copies work. So you are making copies of the original photos. You can make the copies on plain paper.
@@HandmadeHappyHour what does plain paper mean? If I go into Staples and tell them plain paper they’ll likely ask me to be more specific. Thank you so much for this awesome information❤
What is that white stuff called? And where can i find it??
It is Mod Podge Photo Transfer..... Michaels and Amazon would be good places to get some.
Have you ever tried this method on fabric shoes? I have a couple pairs of white fabric shoes that I wanted to decorate and my painting skills aren't the best so I wondered if this would work?
Yes - This should work fine. I would seal over the top with regular Mod Podge. Napkins are also good for decoupaging on canvas shoes.
@@HandmadeHappyHour Thank you so much!
What is the texture if any does the photos make on the pillow case?
This fabric was a little bit textured...it's canvas. So the image as a small amount of texture kind of like a printed canvas. If you use smooth fabric or t-shirt fabric the image is smooth.
@@HandmadeHappyHour What’s the purpose of ironing the pillow
Won't the images transfer on backwards?
Yes - if you have words you must print in reverse or mirror.
Where did you laser colour print please
Kinkos or staples. Just get a color copy made.
What will happen if I put mod love on the back of the paper and do it like that?
Hello, You need to use the photo transfer formula if you are transferring on to fabric. Regular Mod Podge won't work. Thanks, Cathie
What paper is being used?
regular paper but printed on a laser or dry toner printer. color copies from kinkos or staples work great.
❤
Can we wash the fabric later?
Yes. Photo Transfer Mod Podge is machine washable. I hang dry.
can this be done on a fleece blanket and how long it last?
Unfortunately I don't think this will work on fleece. The fabric needs to be flatter. Cotton or cotton twill work best.
is that washable?
Yes - washable. I hand wash and hang dry but you can wash on a delicate setting in a machine.
You using item details
If you wash it will the photos come off
Can this be done on a T-Shirt?
Yes - for sure you can do this on a t-shirt! :)
Won't the images transfer on backwards?
Yes - if you have words you must print in reverse or mirror.
