In body shop in collage, we took photos and layered polyurethane over them and pealed it off when it dried. We would put them motorcycle gas tanks or car hoods helmets or whatever and sprayed a clear coat so the seam would melt in. Any high-quality print would work, even magazine pictures.
So you sprayed polyurethane onto a photo or magazine, then when dried, you could just peel off the poly layer the image and throw it onto something with clear coat?
I was going to say , once you stick the photo to your jar, maybe try a blow dryer or a heat gun to get the adhesive on the tape more sticky. Also, make sure you don’t touch the surface where you are going to stick the picture, because oil from your hands will make it not want to stick and it will start to bubble later on and peel off. Personally, I would use clear waterslide decal paper, print your image, spray a light coat of clear lacquer over it, let dry, cut out your image, soak it in water, slide the image onto your jar, smooth out and let it dry. Then mask it off and spray, so the lacquer covers the outside perimeter of your image by a 1/4”, to bury it in lacquer and make it permanent. Then you can wash the jar and the image is sealed onto your glass. It will never come off. Nice idea of yours though.
May I ask, 1)where do you get waterslide paper at? 2) after you soak in water do you rub off anything and do you apply wet to the glass? Thank you so much

I’m so delighted, l saw your video! I just purchased 49 Clear Glass Ornaments from Hobby Lobby (4” X 4” X 1” sort of like a flat cube shape) I was going to mod podge photos of my Grandkids onto them... This is so much better! Seriously, it’s serendipitous! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ♥️ Now, I just have to buy a laser printer but, I don’t care I needed a new printer anyway! ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 P.S. I just did a happy dance! 💃🏻
I used some stationary with a picture of a little girl helping her younger brother across a beautiful creek. I put it on a flower vase and it is beautiful! Hope this helps someone come up with an idea of how they can use other things if they dont have a laser jet printer.
I love the cute way your voice goes way up high on every last word in your sentences. I felt l was waiting for it and getting distracted from watching the tutorial. Love that too by the way.
This was an awesome video that I wasn't even searching for, but I'm saving it. Such a cool idea! I was actually searching the best way to adhere glass to glass.
Wow! I can use this to make labels using laser printer (using word on computer) and place on jars to make canning labels for freeze dried canning we just started doing!
I have one question--If you put your picture on a bottle and at a later date you want to wash the bottle, will the picture come off or loose or damaged? I would hate to do this kind of work just to have it destroyed down the road.
Wow.... Outstanding idea... Genius actually.... Thank you for sharing.... You are generous and wonderful... Always wanted to etch pictures on glass... You fulfilled my desire... In a simple manner... You are awesome 😊🙏
Love it must try for gifts to give for someone who likes to take photos. Also can use on sheet of glass for larger photos, I think. Looks like an easier way to make floating photo in those floating frames such as I once used for a beautiful tulip poplar silk moth-that photo sold🙂. It was a bear to get lined up in places and keep there. I don’t have a laser printer, but the library does😀. Thanks so much for sharing this video.
One thing I don't understand. You put the photo face down on the sticky side of the tape.. After you remove the paper, there is enough adhesion for it to stick? I thought the image would interfere with the adherence
So amazing! Been wanting to try something like this but could never figure out quite how to do it. Thank you! Though I do have a couple questions. Does it peal off easy? If so, is there anything you can do to prevent it?
The only problem I have with this technique is that you can see the individual strips of tape. If you use a sheet of tape I think you would get better results. But great idea!
Yes! The seams are driving me nuts! Can anyone recommend a wide tape? I tried clear Con-tact roll but while rubbing the soaked paper off, the image rubs off in several spots with it. Burnished it to death & used my laser printer.
Hi dear it's is an amazing idea... ❤️ From india. How u stuck photo to that wrapper without applying any glue? Pls update. I m saving your video and surely i will try

I’ve tried this 6 times and everytime my photo bleeds. I used my laser printer with new ink and printing on regular copy paper and using high performance packing tape. I overlap the seams slightly and scrape the photo several times with my Cricut scraper. I let it soak 2 minutes in warm water. What am I doing wrong??
Of course! The materials we used were packing tape, a bowl of water, dishtowel, scissors, scraper tool and an image printed on regular printer paper :) We also have a printable instruction sheet you can print out here from our blog: www.bfranklincrafts.com/diy/packing-tape-photo-transfer/ Thank you for asking!
You can try a dishwasher-safe Mod Podge or sealer (some may leave streaking on glass), but we still recommend gently hand washing any of these projects for long lasting use. Thank you for asking!
I do not think that it should be necessary to reverse the image before printing it out, even when accounting for text in the image. At no point in the process demonstrated in the video is the image mirrored left to right, or any other orientation for that matter. In the photo used, the woman pictured has one child on her right and two children on her left at the start. At the end it is the same, one child on her right and two on her left. If the photo were mirrored at the start, then it would also be mirrored at the end.
So this is a cool idea for sure, but what if you don’t want the glossy piece of tape? In other words, can you transfer the ink off the tape and then spray some sort of fixative over it?
In the final image of the color family, and black and white fly, the fly is black only, while in the other pic the girl on the left still has a white shirt. How does that work?
RUB from center "outward" - like putting on a cell phone screen protector ( if you rub in towards the center - you get MORE wrinkles & MORE air bubbles )
Hi my laser printer only prints in black, i use it to heat transfer foil onto paper, could i use the same method as you but with foil colours instead of a photograph
I Love this and im so happy I found this method. I think it looks the most professional. I have a question that if a sealant after the picture is stuck on, would that help keep the picture longer? Especially if lets say the glass is used near a tub where it may get continuously wet? Figured also it may help maintain the picture after light hand washing.
Hi there Priscilla! A sealer can help with the pictures lifespan. If you want to add it you can use a brush-on sealer like Mod Podge or a spray (with sprays you would have to do a couple layers). You might see some streaking though on the glass, just a heads up! Maybe try practicing on another glass surface before applying. Thank you for asking!
She said very clearly at the beginning of the video that you need to use a laser printer. I've seen some people use inkjet though. Guess you just need to try and see what happens.

@@MagicallyResin Thats what is is.

You can do the same with magazine photos. That is how we made transparencies to show on overhead projectors when I first started teaching.
We did this in grade school with magazine cutouts.

Were there issues at all with burnishing, or the look of the finished project, with the seams of the tape?
Does the sticker come off over time? Do u suggest a sealer varnish or something in the like?
good question. I would seal it.

Yes!
I do get it. Does the tape just stay on the picture while the edges eventually begin to curl up?
So what keeps it from coming off? Or what’s the durability, lasting time.
Probably can never get it wet, because it's just like a jar label.

any chances on making this using inkjets compared to laser printers transfer to plastic bottles rather than glass?
You can stick it on anything, but it has to be laser printer, inkjet won't work. You can use book or magazine cut-outs though.

So cool! It seems if there was any text it would be unnecessary to reverse the image.
Look at the last section when she had to attach it to the glass that’s when you would see why
The 'good' side of the picture is the one that adheres to the glass, what you see is the 'back' side... hence the backwards words.
I have been doing that for long but I can't get rid of the hazy and cloudy look it leaves on the tape. How to get rid? Please tell
