This was great, I've been looking for "car painting course" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Banayce Wordless Blueprint - (do a search on google ) ? It is a good one off guide for discovering how to master car body work and spraying techniques minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my work buddy got amazing success with it.
Bro you painted that panel like a boss great work you've got a new subscriber
This is nicer than the other detailed videos because I'm legit just trying to touch back up the daily so mine doesn't have to be perfect.
Be sure to inhale extra deeply for that added high to truly feel and enjoy the paint job you're paying less for
Hundreds less for in most cases.
Very Impressive Nice Job And Thank You For Sharing This To Us.
How long do you have to wait to start applying the clear coat? Also how long to wait between each coat of clear, if any?
Wait about 30 mins after your base coat
step 1 FIND another fender DIY
Awesome job but don't you have to put primer first before base coat? just wondering.
That was a pre-primed panel
@@sig7707 it is better to sand the panel down and re prime it yourself, as the primer used isnt always the best. however based on this video, it looks like the primer worked out pretty good
I've got my order from you guys coming in the mail....will use this video as reference 👍🏽👍🏽
How did it end up turning out?
You really need to put a rust protective primer on the fender before painting! That black paint that they have on it is not very protective!
Thats only if the part is metal but nowadays alot of body parts are plastic
So I bought a bumper for a Toyota Camry 2017 colour absolute red high gloss. I wet sanded the pre primed bumper using 800grit sand paper. Sprayed on 3 cans of paint and 1 can of clear coat and that's where everything went wrong. It's impossible to replicate high gloss of modern cars and avoid orange peel. So I had to then wet sand the clear coat using 2000 grit and then run machine cutting compound almost wore away the clear coat. Having said that it's now as good as new.
What happens if you make mistake
does the inside fender needs to be sealed or the exsisting matte black will protect it?
I'm a fan of your work, however because I want you to keep adding new videos please wear a mask to protect your lungs and throat. Regardless, keep it up...
Hey we've got your religion. We now use protective equipment in all of our videos! It's the only thing to do!!!
I did the same but color isn't matching new paint is showing itself so how could I fix this problem?
Has anyone every done this outside ? I don't have an enclosed area to do this.
Great JOB, Fantastic!!
Hates his lungs as much as he hates to talk in the video 🤦♂️
Thank you buddy, got my fenders looking great👍
No primer?.......and you don't do the inside part of the panel at all?
Great vid man 👌 and a great job on the panel too 👍
In my shop we would give it a light 320 sand then lightly primer it
yeah, that's what i was wondering because he doesn't apply primer ...
Didn't it come already primed? Or should your re-primer it? I'm asking because I'm getting ready to do this. Mine came already primed but if I need to redo it, I'd like to know.
@@Uncommonsensesc im wondering this as well.... I have a pre primed black bumper and tryna get it alpine white
Hi,
I'm wondering the same thing. Did you have to prime again? Thanks
Hi
I need to spray new fender wing and the bone they are brand new .Do I need to use a primer.first then the painting
Or strongly way to spray the paint .
Good job, but don't forget a mask. Paint is a dangerous chemical.
You didn't even explain what type of paint to use. I mean what if my cars color is red or orange or blue. How does this fit my situation.
I'm much more artistic when it comes to painting car parts. I make modern art. Gotta have paint running down like tears all over the part to make it perfect. I guess you don't have that skill.
At 3:43 on the bottom u missed a giants spot I see black still : / start over
Roughly how long would it take for a novice painter to do this?
Very cool, very professional. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this, just want your opinion on the primer that comes on the aftermarket parts, is it okay just as it is, or should you sand it off to bare metal and then re-prime the part? Have you ever had problems down the road with the primer that comes on the part? Thanks in advance.
This is a great question. Actually, the aftermarket parts come with a 'E-coat', which is a 'sealer'. You can basecoat right over the top (after roughing up the surface) OR you can prime, then basecoat. Priming is a good idea if you are offering a warranty or want a better outcome. Priming would help to protect against rusting of rockchips, etc.
Thanks for answering, I'm doing a new fender that has e-coat on it and videos like yours give me the confidence to try painting it at home.
@@ERAPaints where do you find the scrub to roughen the fender. Is there a specific grade ?
Awesome work!!!
I just wanna ask, how many spray base coat can did you use????
Do you have to prime a new panel for painting or just apply base paint straight on?
Is that the clear lacquer he is putting
Do you allow 10 minutes to dry, similar to the color coat, when applying a second layer of clear coat? Thanks.
Yes, between all coats of paint, primer or clear coat, you should wait and allow the coats to dry to ensure the best results!
Thanks for the mute button.
no sanding or primer needed?
no orange peel?
Some guys do primer no need to do primer paint?
Make certain never to wear a mask to protect your lungs 🫁 while doing this. Your living room is a good place, right next to your 75" flat screen HD 8K What TV as well.
Bought a kit to do some touch up spots, and the 2 nozzles work great, looks like it was done with a professional paint gun. Saved so much money.
That's awesome! We would love it if you could send before and after photos of your project to customerservice@erapaints.com!
should i be sanding between layers
Bad techniques applied there me that would leave high spots and tiger marks, each to their own
aero tek I’m going to be uploading videos on how to’s for paint and collision repair probably tmmr if your interested in seeing how to actually paint lol using a Gun
dude, where is your spray mask? repaired fender, destroyed lungs
worth
@@ernieRUOK lol
No primer ?
his lungs too would be a shade lighter too
Great job! But may I ask what kind or type of spray/rattle can did you used?

How many cans of paint did you use?
This is glorious, been searching for "car painting tutorials" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Banayce Wordless Blueprint - (do a google search ) ? It is a smashing exclusive guide for discovering how to master car bodywork and spraying techniques minus the normal expense. I've heard some extraordinary things about it and my colleague got cool success with it. 👍
does anyone know of a video that specifically runs you through how to replace the front fender of a tacoma(00-04)? I have had trouble finding a step process of how to replace one so that may remove the rust and paint, repaint and reattach. this is a absolute solid video!!!! if anyone can help and send me the video I would be so stoked on that!! thanks!!
My best bet would either be a service manual for your vehicle or maybe there's a forum for Tacoma enthusiasts with a guide.
I thought the same thing on my car but if you just give it a once over and look at it and picture how you would do it it pretty much comes right off with a screwdriver a ratchet and just follow the lines
Where the primer at Picasso?
Beautiful job
I use the red I want good adhesion
No mask and using a rattle can😂
Very simple? Easy for you to say, you are a pro 😂Thank you much appreciated
The noise (some may call "music") is clearly U-N-S-U-P-P-O-R-T-A-B-L-E....
Why do people say u need to bake it? 🤔
Do I need to paint it a lighter color first if i was going to use a dark metallic green?
Hi Matthew, so in general you don't need to 'prep' with a different color paint. However, 2 comments: 1) you should use primer, and the primer color can alter the paint color. The best advice is to use multiple coats. 2) there are a few paints - called tricoats - that the paint 'color' is actually 2 different paints, applied one over the other. these are more expensive paints to purchase and they are generally used on expensive cars like Infiniti & Lexus, etc. Most vendors, including us, in the DIY paint biz don't sell tricoats because we lose money on them...
I just got my pro kit paint and I gonna use it in a new fender for my car and I got two scuff pads 320 and 600 but I don't know which one use first if you guys could answer me ill appreciate it
you failed to mention 1k vs 2k paints. you likely used 1k which won't hold up. you didn't sand between coats. result is orange peel and a longevity of 6 months. no thanks.
What can I do if I messed up when applying my 2nd coat the can started dripping and I was thinking of sanding down with 1000grit and respraying the base coat again . I haven't clear coated
Is this the same paint that you would find in a body shop? (2k?)
Im wanting to find a base/clear for both plastic bumpers on my highlander.
Hi, nice work man. I have a question, i also do jobs like that in my garage, i live in florida, so lots of humidity, mostbof the time i get cloudy spots after applying the clear coat, so i have to hit it a little with a heat gun, as soon as i apply a little heat to the clear, it shines beautiful. Butbif am not careful i cam also ruin the job, so, how van i fix that humidity problem?
Do you need a primer?
Hi era Very good job thanks for your time we learn step by step Arellano appreciate
Thanks, this is very helpful.
Maybe you have done around 50-75 back and forth hand movements for each coat. But if you have gotten a wide nozzle can like duplicolor, you would have done it with only 10-15 and have saved a lot of spray can.
Good idea Chris! We are now including 2 nozzles with our spray paint orders, and the new addition is an premium, adjustable nozzle.
@@ERAPaintsmakes sense. The wider nozzle gets better coverage and inspires confidence.
i was gonna send my replacement to the shop but might as well do DIY since i have the paint bottles.. plus those shops charge you like $300
do you have to sand the coat at all
I followed all of these steps and I used the correct color paint but the final outcome is not shiny like the original paint job. How can I get it shiny?
If you don't use a 2 component clear coat, you have to polish it. If you use a 2 component you might get it right without the polishing step, but will have orange peel just like a factory car.
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0043B7UQY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Our clear coat generally comes out clear if it has the correct amount on and you apply the correct number of coats, it could be that it was applied too lightly and caused it to not gloss, although polishing it is the surefire way to achieve the best shine.
Do you wait for the paint to dry before applying the clear coat?
What a joke
My car is red do I need to spray primar first or do what you have done just spray on the colour you want straight from the start
Wonderful, awesome vid!
What are you mounting this fender on?
An automobile.
Hi, excuse my ignorance but was the panel pre primed?
Yes it was. new panels (and large resprays) should always be pre-primed. Sometimes new panels are pre-primed, and sometimes they only have a rust inhibitor on them - you need to check...
ERAPaints
How can you check if is primed already?
Hello
Do not use ERA clear coat. You'll be sorry. Plus they don't give money back guarantee like they say they do.
We sell Duplicolor Clearcoat. The panel needs to be properly prepped before clearing. We stand by our guarantee.
A lighter color primer would be better color coverage for the base coat
This is glorious, I've been looking for "what is needed to paint a car at home" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Banayce Wordless Blueprint - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great one off product for discovering how to master car body work and spraying techniques without the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my partner got cool success with it.
Ah yes, a Clickbank product being sold. Good luck with the sales.
i dont understand how people do this with aresol cans
I like it because he is right to the point. No blah, blah...
layer of primer isnt necessary since the panel already is primed right
Nice result, but why no basecoat? is it because the fender is coated from factory ?
I just ordered a primed alloy fender for my audi and the color is black... Will my fender look different than the rest of the car after I put your black color and clear coat? Also awesome video once I get a reply Im definitely buying this
How did it turn out? I am about to do a similar project.
Idk much about painting but why are the paint booths White with bright lights??? Thanks for the video very helpful I got a fender imma try.
angles ma man..
Thanks for vid bro. Going to try that. To repaint my fender they want 200eur. My plan: buy new fender (20eur), get paint can mixed according to color code (10-20eur), buy clear coat can (10-20eur) then paint and replace it myself. Rest of the money goes on good amount of beer and other stuff. Would you suggest to paint other side too? Im planing to cover other side with gravitex coat to prevent from rust.
If you are using something to protect the underside surface, then you should not have to paint it. You might want to paint it for cosmetic reasons if you can see any of the back side...
Wow very good job thanks
What are you holding the fender up on?
Very easy to understand, thank you.
Great video new subscriber
How many spray bottle did you use for you base coat and clear coat ?
If I got a replacement fender from the Junkyard, would this method still work? If not do you have a video showing what I would need to do to prep/paint it
Hi, love your icon :) Yes, this process will work. You just may need to do a little addtl prep work to clean it up. Note that we should be publishing a new 20 minute video on youtube over the next week that covers how to fix dings with our putty & kits, then paint & clear. You should really watch that. You can buy PREMIUM quality paint & stuff at our website erapaints.com...
What do you do if the finished product looks like crap? Lightning in my garage is terrible and now the paint looks patchy
I hear you, bad conditions can kill your project because the process of prepping & applying paint & clear is very techincal... If you've clearcoated the paint, you have no choice but to sand it all down & start over. If you haven't cleared it yet, sand it until its smooth, clean it with wax & grease remover or similar & then start again. We give you a directional tip which has an vertical fan for side-to-side hand motion, which makes all the difference for paint & clear application. Use it also on our clearcoat...
no sanding no perfection Gloss
So i forgot to prime before hand, followed your instruction without knowing that firsthand my fault for not thoroughly researching, but would it be bad now to prime over the paint and clear coat I already used and repeat another paint process ( the color looks good just doesnt have the shine its supposed to or that clear coat enamel that cars have when the sun shines off it) please let me know your ideas my mistake at the beginning any how maybe ill just have to sand it all down to the scratch again im not sure also would I just use a black primer or one that matches the color of my car, it looks as if you didnt mind the primer color because it ended up white
Well... You don't indicate what the condition of the surface was before you painted, but if it seemed solid and you roughed it up before painting (to get the paint to stick), then I would leave everything the way it is. However if you want to fix it & do it right, you have to sand it all down & start over. Regarding the shine of the clearcoat, let it cure for about 30 days & then polish is - it should shine up for you...
Did u sand
can you put the fender on the car just as is? (black)? or do you wanna put a protective coating on it first?
You will always apply clearcoat over the paint in order to protect the paint
Oof rip lungs
Looks easy when you know what you are doing. I tried to paint my fender and the base color was not even...back to the drawing board.
This could have been caused by a variety of issues, if primer was not used the color of the material can vary the color drastically. as well as not using clearcoat. please let us know if we can help you!
My boyfriend and brother are planning on painting my fender, bumper, and hood, (on my Toyota Camry 2009) about how many cans would i need to get? And is it guaranteed not to chip off or peel?
A can of paint (and clearcoat) will generally be enough paint for 4-6 square feet (3 coats each), depending on conditions, so you'll want to measure approximately how much area you have. I'm going to guess 3-5 cans? Quality of the paint job, especially including chipping & peeling are entirely dependent on the PREP. We send you instructions with your order, and we strongly suggest a prep kit if you do not have availability to such materials. You can view what is included in a basic or pro kit on our website. You will definitely want to use clearcoat (light coats!) over the top of the basecoat (paint) and you will want to ensure your metal has been primed and prepped before painting. The quality of the paint we sell is the same as what would have been put on the car when it was new. You have a 9 year old car so the paint has probably faded some. We sell OEM-spec paint which could end up being darker. Therefore you should plan on BLENDING into the original body panels. If properly prepped and applied, there's no reason you won't end up with a great finish. You are doing a number of panels (!) so this is a large job. But if you do it yourself you can save a lot of money! You can always call or email us for advice along the way. Good luck!! If you look on eBay you will see that our customers rate us very highly is a 99.3% positive rating. Remember, the quality of your job is all about the prep!!!
How big should spray be to paint fender? I need to paint fender and front bumper and I'm wondering how much spray do I need.. :(
With the amount of paint in our cans, you should have plenty, one can has enough paint for a couple of coats over an entire fender. You should spray from about 10 inches back and put on 3-4 light coats.
