    Bought a 2016 pilot new. Still own it. Everything you mentioned happened to mine. Luckily had an extended warrantee which covered everything.
    The tachometer bouncing / transmission judder pops up about every 30k miles. Drain the transmission fluid, refill. Roll through all the gears including reverse X3 fixes the problem.
    Great review !

    Thanks! 2018 Pilot EX-L with 70K. Just had code P219A that was fixed by dealer by replacing injectors. 6 speed transmission gets rough so I exchange fluid often. When we took to dealer they did fluid replacement and “burnishing.” Hood latch was reinforced by dealer. Still waiting on fuel pump parts for that recall. Good car overall with trans being main headache. Oh, and sometimes my wife’s phone doesn’t want to stay connected to apple carplay.

    Bought brand new a 2017 Touring edition (still own), all problems mentioned have appeared. Already replaced ignition switch my self ( about $65 OEM). Currently getting the emissions problem catalytic converter code, miss fire codes, but still runs like great. I'm a long commuter, car will hit the 165K miles in a week so definitely out of warranty :( but luckily I'm a good DIY mechanic so I'm able to save some $$$ and do most of the maintenance and repairs myself. I have owned mine for three years. Bought in 2021. Replaced the timing belt and water pump myself, sucks to change trans fluid. But brake caliper slides fail. Can't put a frost plug heater in it, but a hose heater will do the trick.

  • @OneBadAssDJ
    @OneBadAssDJ 6 днів тому +1

    Timing belt tensioner leaks and needs to be replaced because you'll hear loud ticking. Front lower control arms bushings dry out and crack. Front struts collapse and fluid leaks out and need to be replaced. If you get a transmission code and transmission is banging into second gear, you'll need to change a transmission pressure sensor. There are 4 sensors, a bluetooth code reader will tell you which one.

    Couple of things I can add, 2016 pilot touring (elite) in Canada, engine knock sensor failed at about 140000km, out of pocket expense. Tailgate rust under license plate light, rust through, changed tailgate, under warranty. Fan blower motor likes to make noise in cold weather, didn’t bother to change, procedure is easy, oem motor is pricey. Fog light used to be beaten up by rocks/road debris.

    2016 Pilot Touring AWD, 120K miles
    Currently, dealing with the service bulletin issue that causes multiple codes to flash at once, and requires fuel injector replacement. My local dealer advised me this would be warranted at no cost to me....however, the parts are on backorder.
    I can’t help but wonder if I told them I wanted to replace the fuel injectors just for better performance, and am paying out of pocket, that the parts mysteriously would be in stock. 🤔
    i’m going to reach out to some out-of-town dealers to see if I can get some help on the issue.
    (I also had my push button start replaced, which was warranted. And replaced my front struts, but that was due to wear and tear)

You think it's good to go to a local mechanic to see if they can get the parts in and do it? Or order them myself and have a mechanic do the work? Or does it absolutely need to be done by a dealer in order for the codes to be cleared?

    @hondamobilemechanic - i just bought a used 2017 Pilot Touring a week ago with 95K miles. I just took the car on its first long trip and at random times, primarily while trying to pass a car on the Interstate, whenever i would try to accelerate to pass a car , it would make a hissing sound by the steering wheel, the speed would drop to about 40-45 MPH and the gas pedal would go limp. I would press on the gas but it would not accelerate, i would need to pull back to the right lane behind the car i was trying to pass and eventually the gas peddal would work and the car would accelerate. This happened randomly, even once when i was just cruising and there were no car infront of me. There where few times when i had cars right on my tail and the car would drop from about 70MPH to 45MPHs.. it really freaked me out and my wife is a little freaked out about driving the car, especially with the kids on the car. I have not seen that mentioned anywhere. Any thoughts on what it could be? Also, this happened with ECON on and off, LKAS off and Lane Departure both On and Off. Thanks in advance for any input.

      Hey thanks for watching. So people saying don’t get the 9 speed don’t have any idea what they or saying or experience. We have had nearly zero issues with the 9 speed. The 6 speed is problematic but if you stay on top of the transmission services (I highly recommend every 15k a drain and fill) then it can get a way less problematic trans as well just like the 9 speed. Buying a used one can be risky because chances are proper maintence wasn’t done on the 6 speed and could be too little too late, for that reason I say go with the 9 speed if the budget allows to get, which like you said comes on a higher trim pilot.

      Yes, that’s a thing as well. That typically the keyless access unit or the hood switch. More times then not the keyless access unit.

      @Hondamobilemechanic honestly I don't remember. I didn't even know honda has 3 supposedly. I just did whatever the shop said. My car was having problems when I pushed the gas it would take forever to pick up speed.

    QUESTION : So the other day my honda accord would make a clicking noise(or should I say it sounded like it was struggling to start) when I would turn the key to start the car🥴🥴. AAA came out and hooked up their tester and found "nothing wrong"...he even took the battery out to "reset" it.. car started after that(this was monday)..fast forward to TODAY and same noise happening again,only this time it hasn't not came on,just keep hearing a clicking noise(I suspect it was the starter but he saysss nothing is wrong lol),should I be concerned?

      @BCautosolutions  Рік тому

      For sure. Sounds like a starter to me. I would take it to an actual mechanic and leave triple a to towing cars lol

    why Honda always has trashy transmissions, and i mean since the mid 2000s, Honda used to neck and neck with Toyota in terms of quality.

      They have come a long way since 06-08. Really the only problematic ones are the 6at and some cvts. No where as bad as early 90s - mid 00s. Back then we were doing 3-4 trans a day! Now we do maybe 5 a month. Huge difference and improvement.

    Hello I am a Uber driver. I’ve had this car since 2016 the new I hold 202,000miles. Please take it from a person with experience not a mechanic every problem he has said I have had the fuel injector problems first came to me when I had 30,000 miles on the dealership and the corporation did not want to take responsibility. Oh my God screwed $2000 to fix something that’s not my fault, second of all the transmission the same thing he said happened to me I have never seen a transmission like this car. I have to change the oil every oil change roughly between 5 to 7000 miles ridiculous I’ve had the same problem with the pushbutton start. Thank God I fixed it myself. The store has been nothing but a big royal pain in the ass. I wish I never purchased it. I also was the person that told me the store is on the lowest part of hell

      @BCautosolutions  Рік тому +1

      So first off I want to apologize for their incompetence. The injectors have a warranty extension and if you have paper work stating you paid it I would 💯 try and get reimbursed. The start/stop switch also has a warranty extension, although that’s a fairly cheap repair and not as critical to peruse imo. The biggest deal is the trans! Yes with Uber/Lyft we have to change the fluid at a very ridiculous and unreasonable rate as you have stated. Best of luck going forward 👍🏻

      @@ziad9649 yes that’s about when we started changing them. I would just contact corporate American Honda and see what they can say. I can’t get involved in that. I’m not sure what they will do, it’s worth a shot tho for sure. Good luck with it 👍🏻
