I tend to recommend a similar build as this to people on pcmr subreddit. Usually alternating between the Zalman S2 and Q300L depending on price fluctuation. For the PSU I go with an EVGA 600W Unit. Just was a bit too lazy to find a smaller/cheaper PSU, and usually it goes for around $45.

I built this last night. My first build. Used the motherboard, ram, i3-12100f, rtx 6700 xt. Only changes were psu evga 600w and storage was crucial 500gb. Advice for anyone building this becareful with thermal paste on cpu fan (got some on my hand when taking out of box) and make sure you attach the psu 8 pin cpu cord to motherboard before you screw in motherboard. Also watch a video on what to do after the build. Watched plenty of videos on the performance of the i3 12 generation cpu and for the money it's really the best.
Hi, I'm thinking to combo the same as yours I3 12100f + 6700xt, do you try gaming at high or medium settings at 4k resolution? Will it good fps on 4k gaming? Thank you
A few days ago i upgraded our pc from a 3470 to a 12100 and i can confirm it is a phenomenal processor for those looking for value per cost. For comparison, generating a new world in minecraft used to take around 90 seconds; now it's only about 10 to 15 seconds before you're in the world!
After watching this video i built one for my kids as a christmas gift. After testing it (today) i decided to sell my old AW17R3 and ordered parts for another one for myself! 🤩
Not sure if anyone is interested, but this build (using the same PSU but at 550W due to lack of availability for the 450W) turned out to be $1090.04 AUD (converts to $740 USD or 738€), which is damn good value here. Heck I'm tempted to build it myself, other than it's a downgrade from my current 2500X & RTX 2070S system.
im just biting my nails anticipating an i7 PC build guide like this. These guides have been great, combo guides great too. TY for the vids - informative and entertaining.
The 2060 is in such a good place right now, pair it with the i3 12100 and you'll get amazing 1080p and even 1440p if you are willing to lower the settings a bit. Avoid the 3050 at all costs, the price is just too damn high.
you can actually find some 3050's for similar price, I've seen a few, but it depends on what you want out of your PC though. if your just a casual gamer, the 3050 would be fine, though if you wanna save a couple bucks, get the Radeon RX 6600, it's price at 250 right now is even better, and it out performs the rtx 2060 and 3050. plus you get 8GB as opposed to 6GB in the 2060.
Jason, i did this exact build 2 months ago but with an ASrock rx6500xt. I got that card new for 150$ with the mail in rebate. you cannot deny this card is best value for simple gaming and many who build this type of pc are just simple gamers. Not streaming, not video editing, not any heave workload, and playing 1080p. I think you need to look at it more from that perspective than comparing specs and numbers which the typical user cannot see on the screen. 100 fps or 75fps? most people wont notice. Honestly it performs fine and i am happy with build. I feel the biggest performance bump i got in my gaming was the upgrade to the nvme drive!! So bottom line budget gamers if you want to save the max it is still a contender card.
Congrats on the build! I'm glad you are happy with your RX 6500 XT build, and it is viable with this CPU that has PCIE gen 4. However, it is not the best value based on FPS performance. See the best value spreadsheet link in the video description. Right now new the RX 6600 value is unbeatable, with used being a number of GPUs like the RX 570, RX 580, GTX 1060 6GB, GTX 1070, GTX 1660 Super/Ti, GTX 1650 Super, RX 5600 XT. Hope this helps, and again the most important thing is that you are happy with your build!

It's crazy I bought an used 570 4gb (good model too, Sapphire Nitro+) for 80 over two years ago I think and it still goes for more than that. 2017 card, crazy times.

Hey, man! I just build a cheap gaming PC with the i3 12100F. Thank you very much for this information; it is quite beneficial. It's incredibly powerful when combined with a GTX 1660 Super, too! Cheers!
Great stuff as always! Curious though if at any time in the past, the static from petting the cat ever mess up a CPU or anything else. That would be fun story to hear :)
Haha! I typically just ground myself from time to time. Honestly just touching the PC case is usually enough. I've tried the static bracelets but I hate them and the risk is so low I'm willing to accept it. :)
I just built a new computer and almost went pretty much exactly like this build but decided to go no GPU and Ryzen 5600G (was looking at the 5700G but didn’t seem to be that great of a difference in games). My plan is to grab like a 3070 or AMD equivalent in a couple months when 40 series comes out and used cards start selling
5600G built cost like $400 ish in my country, and 12100F with 6600 cost like $660 ish. And if i go with 5600G i could buy AOC 24G2Z 240hz monitor with the same price as the i3... Should i go with 5600G?
@@graze1177 I think in general the 5600G is a better processor but I really don’t know. It’s a beast of a processor but the main reason I got it is because the integrated graphics play all my games at like a minimum of 40-50 fps. Like assassins creed Valhalla at 50 fps on iGPU is insane. I’m personally an AMD fan in general over Intel so I say go 5600g but see if you can’t find a comparison video. And in the US my build was $480
The issue is always the cost of the ITX motherboard. I understand why they are more expensive - smaller market, need to recoup design and licensing costs, etc. - but wish they were cheaper!
Hi Jason, thank you for the informative content. Been following you for the past month and found your contents really helpful and easy to understand. For high fps 1080p gaming, should i go with 6750xt or 3060ti? Both gpu's are on the same price range in Jakarta, Indonesia. My setup will be 5600x, asus b550 f gaming, and 32gb (4x8) 3200mhz cl16
With the used GPU market prices tanking, APUs are no longer worth building. When you can buy a used RX 570 for $100 (and dropping fast) and pair it with a cheap CPU like the i3 12100F or even cheaper i3 10100F, why settle for GT 1030 like APU performance?
I mean back then it was for a worse market yet they hold no barring just not a consideration any more plus you gotta pair it with current gen to ensure there is no bottlenecking
Jason! Can you make a pc build about video editing or more on professional side of specs in a computer? I would love to see that content! For example: Video editing at 2k and 4k
I gotta 5800x 3060ti system after selling my first custom build last year and I can run any game, maxed out at 1080p and the only thing limiting my fps is my monitor refresh rate of 165hz. I'm so happy to have a gaming pc again lol I went a whole year with NO pc until I got a new job recently. was terrible haha.
Recently got a pc with this processor and I specifically chose it with budget and upgradability in mind. It will suffice all my gaming needs for now and down the line I can easily upgrade to something like an i7 12700 I also paired it with the rx 6600 and will upgrade to a 3080 further down the line
@@faro9595 unfortunately I'm unable to say if it was good or not as the company I bought it from either made a mistake or a kind gesture and instead of the PC arriving with an i3 12100f it arrived with an i5 12400f.
ROG Strix B660 F - £249 - overclocks locked CPU's on the BCLK and has very good power phases and VRM's, hopefully will support 13th gen. Kingston Fury Beast 5600mhz 16GB DDR5 - £119 - will outperform pretty much any DDR4. GTX 1070 - £100 - £150 on a budget for decent 1080p Runs 60fps, max settings on War Thunder. RTX 3060 is my pick when prices drop. The i5 12400F is the better CPU if you want to go a while without another upgrade at £199 vs £120 for the 12100F.
7:16 you can get 16gb ddr4 36000 mghz kit for 52 bucks 10:52 get the deepcoll matrexx 40 3fs if you don't like the look of the zalman or Thermaltake case
Matrexx 40 is another good case for about that price, very similar to the Versa H18. For the memory, can you link that kit? Lowest I see right now is $75, or $25 more than 3200 CL16. And for $25 more, just throw another $25 in and upgrade the CPU to the i5 12400F instead and get more performance.
3600cl18 most likely? Now my question is about the kit I see of 3600cl17 seems to split the difference price wise… is it actually an upgrade over 3200cl16 tho? Thanks and I legit love the content

this is how you do it
tnx man i know what to do now ; )
So glad we could help!
Thank you sir, this video is amazing
So glad you enjoyed! Thank you for watching
Always early for your videos😎
🎉
Great build. Cant wait to recommend this to my friend.
Not the question I expected to ask, but what song was that?
It's called So Much for the City and its one of those youtube free copyright songs. And it slaps!
@@PCBuilderChannel Hell yes it does. I was jammin!
Congrats on the build!
Smart move
And in the US my build was $480
@@AlwaysBolttheBird No, it is not better. 5600G is 5500 with iGPU, and 12100F is better then 5500.
Is the B660m ds3h ddr4 compatible out the box with Intel i3 12100f, or does it need a bios update?
New builder.
Very useful. Subbed. I'll be upgrading from a homebuilt i5-2500 Sandy with a GTX 1050ti, so I think I'll notice a difference!
Glad we could help! Thanks for the sub and congrats on your upgrade
nice build, i know budget and itx is kind of an oxymoron but i'd like to see you do one of those
The issue is always the cost of the ITX motherboard. I understand why they are more expensive - smaller market, need to recoup design and licensing costs, etc. - but wish they were cheaper!
10:45 Excellent case! A lot of air flow. Down side, can not install fans on top but you have already place fore 3 in front and 1 on back :)
I've never actually tried, but pretty sure you can fit standard 120mm fans on top - definitely slim fans. But yes a great budget case!
@@PCBuilderChannel standard can not fit, but slim fan probably can 😁
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL INFORMATION
You're very welcome! Glad you found it useful :D
@@PCBuilderChannel i3 10th gen with rtx 3060 good or bad? Used cpu is low price in India.will bottleneck? Please Reply
6750 XT beats the 3060 Ti quite handily if the same price for just gaming. Hope that helps!
Try the new RX 6700 if it is priced good it just released literally an hour ago
@@PCBuilderChannel you should look at the RX 6700 on Newegg literally just released about a hour ago hope it is still there
@@adrianafamilymember6427 6700 xt is just $20 cheaper
@@PCBuilderChannel 👍
Bets video ever I understand every thing now and now i got rx 7600 for 279 with 13 12100f
Hey Jason, really appreciate your efficiency on your builds! When are Apu builds worth it for what budget?
With the used GPU market prices tanking, APUs are no longer worth building. When you can buy a used RX 570 for $100 (and dropping fast) and pair it with a cheap CPU like the i3 12100F or even cheaper i3 10100F, why settle for GT 1030 like APU performance?
I mean back then it was for a worse market yet they hold no barring just not a consideration any more plus you gotta pair it with current gen to ensure there is no bottlenecking
@@adrianafamilymember6427 APU's can be worth it if you're rocking a 720p monitor
@@ThexXxXxOLOxXxXx I mean true just start up CS:GO and play against bots
@@adrianafamilymember6427 You know what we need 30Hz servers back
Finally value for money and good performance
Thanks man
Btw I'm going to paired it with rx 6700
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!

1 sun from me
I would love to see this kind of video with a variety of different cpu.
Check out the video that just went live today!
Just got rx6600 xt, looking to pair it with i3 12100f. Thanks for the video
Glad I could help!
i also got it, run stress test after setting all up, drivers and etc. i have huge spikes from 100% to 50-60% even 15% for half second every 5-10sec.
Hmm and imagine back in the day, this Cpu would of been a highend i7 that cost $400-$500
Best part of the video 12:45
You are the best 👌 :D
Thank you for watching!
Absolutely 🔥, is the A750 also good combo?
Yes! Good combo
Jason! Can you make a pc build about video editing or more on professional side of specs in a computer? I would love to see that content! For example: Video editing at 2k and 4k
Did you see the 5950X / RTX 3080 Ti build for video editing we did in January?
@@PCBuilderChannel I'll check on it!
I built an i3 12100f, 16gb of 3200 DDR4, 1tb Crucial P2 and a 3060 Phoenix. Runs really well, quiet and cold.

Nice build I was thinking about this one but with my new RTX 3060 ti
Very informative video ❤ but since this video is quite old, is this video out of date. Is it worth building it in mid 2024
Check out our Best Budget Builds 2024 video from this month! We go over the bed budget and mid level builds right now
Wow, truly a good looking build. I'll likely make the same/very similar build (in the meantime) and upgrade it in the future.🤔
Glad you enjoyed! Its a very solid build!
I gotta 5800x 3060ti system after selling my first custom build last year and I can run any game, maxed out at 1080p and the only thing limiting my fps is my monitor refresh rate of 165hz.
I'm so happy to have a gaming pc again lol I went a whole year with NO pc until I got a new job recently. was terrible haha.
i have exactly the same H610 motherboard, CPU and a cooler from ID-cooling. Bought it after a mounth this CPU came out
9 sec am here😍
🏆 Winner :)
Is this build good for streaming and gaming at the same time
I have this B660 Motherboard with a 12100f but i went for a 3070, runs games 100+ fps at 1440p! its 100% all you need
Such a nice build, still waiting for prices to go down in my country so I can get it for not paying an extra $480 for almost exact specs
Look to the used GPU market, especially when Ethereum merges in 2-3 months!
Firsttt sir big fannnn
Very close! :) 🥈
Great video bro! Tried to copy this build. Whats the best minimum monitor i can use with this build? 😅

Montech air 1000 lite is an amazing pc case for budget gamers as well
Recently got a pc with this processor and I specifically chose it with budget and upgradability in mind. It will suffice all my gaming needs for now and down the line I can easily upgrade to something like an i7 12700
I also paired it with the rx 6600 and will upgrade to a 3080 further down the line
Is the build good the i3 12100f with the rx 6600?
Hey bro... would B660m-e make a difference?
Sir can I use rx 6650 xt with i3 12100f
7:16 you can get 16gb ddr4 36000 mghz kit for 52 bucks
10:52 get the deepcoll matrexx 40 3fs if you don't like the look of the zalman or Thermaltake case
Nice Chip, My Htpc has the Elusive 3300X but one of these would work well for one.
If only AMD had actually produced more 3300X!
Great build! I'm looking to get a new one for my gf good enough to run everything at 1080, and this might be it! (With a prettier case tho) lol
Lucky gf! Best of luck with your build. There's a really nice all white ARGB case the Phanteks G360A you might want to check out.
Thank you sir :)
Glad it was helpful!
what about the temperature of the i3-12100f with the stocke cooler in gaming? great vid bro .
Awesome build suggestion! I'm planning on upgrading to i5 13600kf. Would this motherboard be able to handle that processor?
Thankyou ❤
