  • The shaky head worm is an awesome technique for Summer Bass! The technique catches BIG fish but it catches a lot of fish too! Most anglers have a few heads and a favorite worm or two but never realize just how effective this technique can be. When you start to understand the differences between worms, head designs, and hooks, you'll immediately start catching more fish!
    Whether you throw a shaky head every trip, or just occasionally pick up a plastic worm, this video is going to help you hone your fishing skills. Subtle differences in plastic composition and worm shape make huge differences in the actions of the worms and how bass react to them.
    Below you'll find links to the exact baits discussed in the video, along with the different heads and gear we use to fish these baits effectively. We've also included our favorite colors and sizes for each worm. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

    I don’t know about anyone else but today was some tuff fishing here in WV.
    I was starting to think I was at the wrong lake.? Got to the water at 6:30 and it was close to 9:30 before I got my first bite. Caught a 4lb on a Spro little John 50 and 4 dinks on a jackhammer with a super fluke. By 1:30 I was burnt plum up and headed to the hacienda. I threw almost everything but dynamite 🧨 shakeyhead just didn’t pan out today either

    Hi Tim not a fan of the screw lock heads. Don't think it gives the worm to flex to set the hook when using light line. Heard Larry Nixon say something similar about the screwlock heads.

    Great video, Tim! Your knowledge of finesse fishing is really impressive. I hope to get on you and Matt’s level one day. I noticed when you rigged the T-mac you didn’t poke the hook all the way through. Can you poke through and texpose or is it better to rig it like you did? I just don’t trust that the hook will penetrate the worm and the fish when it’s not texposed but I know it’s a lot more weedless that way. I have a hard time rigging straight shank hooks properly, the angle just seems weird to me. I prefer EWG style hooks but I know that doesn’t exist in a Shaky head.

Do you change color preference if water is say 5 feet with more light vs 10 feet+. Thanks. Nice recap of SH fishing.

    The only thing I'd say is the spinning versus baitcaster is a personal preference Tim !
    There's a majority of spinning setups used beachcasting, and they're used boat fishing ?
    You just need the proper power rod and reel !
    I come from a spinning background but I also love the baitcaster for Bass fishing.
    I just wanted to point out there's room to move to a more powerful setup as well !

    Hey Tim,
    I live in South Central Mississippi, about an hour and a half from the Gulf Coast. I live on a man made Lake of about 120 acres with 4 other lakes of equal or greater size. The bottom of all of them is predominantly mud or clay with rip rap on the dams and a lot of docks and wood retaining walls.
    I have been told that shakey heads don’t do well in weeds, but, I have good results when snapping them free.
    What are your thoughts about fishing them in weeds of any type?

      Try adding a bobber stop so gunk doesn't build up on the knot and hit the jig head with a fish attractant (FA) or butter flavored cooking spray, hell, even WD40 will make a difference. Old timers use to use 40 as a FA. Try to avoid a gel-based FA; aerosol or liquid.

    If you guys haven't been told I wanna be the one to tell you. I don't think in the history of bass fishing no one has been more influential than you guys. You go to tackle warehouse and the best sellers are whatever you guys talk about. I go to Walmart or any place that sells fishing stuff and their inventory changes at least a little towards what you guys talk about. I watched a video about 3 years ago you guys talked about roboworms and I had never seen them or heard of them I go shopping everywhere for baits and never see them. You guys talk about it and boom they're everywhere. Almost every brand is making glide baits after all the years you guys have talked about them. You guys have branched out with different brands to make lures and tweak them. You guys have your own colors with lures. I mean you guys have revolutionized and expanded almost everyone's arsenal including my own. You guys are amazing.

    Why not just use a swing head jig with a Net Bait T-Mac or any other shakey head worm? Is there any advantage to a conventional shakey head jig over a swing head jig? I’d think there’d be more action on the worm with the swing head jig.

    • @funkymojo111
      @funkymojo111 Рік тому +1

      The shakey head has an advantage in dropping straight down into our grass beds; vertical targets. The pivot or swing head jig, with its football head, is best as a moving bait that makes horizontal structure contact. Fish that may not want to move VS fish that pursue baits.

  • @williamwhitaker2928
    @williamwhitaker2928 Рік тому

    I use spinning reels for inshore fishing and with the right equipment they easily handle big redfish and snook. In this context Daiwa and Penn have much more robust drag systems than Shimano, especially the Vanford. There is no bass that can match a big snook for power and speed and the Daiwa Saltist, BG, Ballistic and even the Fuego all have readily beaten ten pound plus reds and snook. I fear bait casters designed for casting light lures would be gutted by ocean fish of this size and presumably big bass as well.

    • @funkymojo111
      @funkymojo111 Рік тому

      I look at drag strength too because my gear may have to do double duty with inshore salt water fishing. My bait casters are rated 22, 17, and 13 lb drag; the Daiwa being the weakest.
