You guys make me love fishing more, and hate fishing more too - I live we're the big bass are like 5-6 pounds, anything more is a fish of a lifetime. That's New England for ya.**Serious question for you two - I watch just about all of your videos and often click on your linked gear. In your gear videos you'll mention medium power or medium light, but never say out loud "extra fast action" - I see a bunch of links to extra fast action rods (medium and medium light), but never hear the words out of your mouths. Can you please do an in depth discussion about extra fast rods (when, where, why, pros/cons, length, strength, applications etc.), because there's so few videos actually discussing them. I see them often linked when you discuss finesse and sometimes jerkbait (soft and hard) fishing. Much love and thanks for all you do, peace.
I've thought about extra fast rods too. I've seen people talk about them on fishing forums, but they don't offer much insight. Some contradictory info too like "they're more tippy because they're extra fast" or "there's not enough tip and you lose fish." Maybe the length makes a difference there but idk, maybe just get one and see how it feels. Tight lines
@bassandtreblefishing good point, I never noticed that. I even went back through they're choosing a rod video and it was mentioned in passing, but they didn't go into detail. @TacticalBassin You guys should do a cover all video where you break down rod power+action+length applications. Like heavy/extra fast vs. Heavy/fast vs. Heavy/moderate etc. Does length make a difference with any of them? Finesse with 7ft medium fast or 7'6 medium light extra fast? Always appreciate the content, you guys rock!
Man this video is right up my alley right here! I love a big Texas rig worm! My favorites are the Zoom Ol monster, Netbait C Mac and the 6th Sense Ridge worm. Big bite baits B2 worm honorable mention
I've caught 10" fish on 10" worms before. It's exactly like you said, you never know what you're gonna get. Regardless, you're definitely gonna get bit. Perfect time for these 100+ degree California weather :)
I seem to be struggling on picking up a worm again after adding livescope to my boat. It used to be a staple for me, but I keep picking up stuff that moves!
I have been wondering what I can use my Expride A 6'10" Medium for besides a jerkbait, Might be a cool video of how many different reels and techniques you could think of for that rod.
Use it for small top water baits. Walking baits are great on jerk bait rods. They should advertise it more. I use mine for small Texas rigs or free rigs.just use thinner hooks and small wieghts
I’m in NY Lake Ontario is 5 min from me. If you we’re going to target “deep” bass what depths would you go for? I do like fishing shallow in the local Bay but I would like to try the open water.
Should I be using mono leader for carolina rig? I usually do, but lately been fishing for big fish and the biggest I have caught have been dragging creatures on the bottom…what do you think?
I tried a ribbon tail, texas rigged with a screw in nail weight in the middle. It was half senko wiggle and half ribbon tail on the fall. Felt like the perfect inbetween....it had action on the lift and also didn't look like a torpedo on the fall.
I was using a culprit ribbon tail worm and made sure i used the flat side as the bottom. The flat bottom makes it wiggle more, just like aerodynamics on a car
I'd imagine if you used a heavy nail weight you could bottom bounce it really well. The head of the worm would have action as the middle of the worm drug on the bottom....and the hook would get snagged less?
Great vid as usual. Tim, in several of your vids, you have these newer hook keepers (red, yellow) on your rods. Whats the make / model? Thanks! I don't like the rubber bands of fuji keeper on my megabass.
I need your help! With your expertise, what’s the best shaky head rod between $250-$200? Can be casting or spinning, although I prefer spinning for the technique. Thanks in advance!
Great question! On all my worm fishing except carolina rigs I position the hook at the head of the bait. Most of our underwater footage has shown that bass hit the "Head" of the bait.
Awesome as usual. Tim what is that orange add on that you hook your drop shot weight on too? And where do I purchase it? Thanks buddy and good luck on the water.

Just keep trying different styles and more importantly sizes until you find one they'll eat. I guarantee they'll bite some kind of worm every month of the year, but especially April through November.
You just need to build your confidence in it and it will soon be one of your Go-Tos. I promise. It wasn't until about 2 or 3 years ago that I caught my first ever bass on a plastic worm. Now, it's my Go-To when the bite is slow. Trust me, don't give up on it. 👍

Yes you can. It’s called a stinger hook. Until you get your confidence up hook setting and catching a few fish. Then just take it off. Then if you see they are always short bitting just the tail. Switch to shorter worms or different baits they may eat more.
The biggest problem with adding a stinger to a worm is that it is inevitably gonna hook fish deep in the throat or gills leading to their death. You're alot better off just useing the one hook and getting used to letting them have it a second before you set the hook. Another hook will also add up to more hang ups and not going through grass as well but thats is nothing compared to the first problem I mentioned.
Mann's 12" jelly worm...that's my goal this summer. Not taking any other rods! I need to see if giant worms is as addicting as big swimbaits/glides/rats
