It's fun to see the bite as long as they aren't spawning because they would not be so territorial, protective and just instinctively bite anything. If they aren't spawning, they'll be much more sensitive to details.
Great video! I got tired of trying to tell this girl how to fish a shaky head so I finally just shared the link to your video and told her to ff through all the talk about equipment and watch the technique
It was awesome to have a conversation with you at the Classic Sir . I hope you can catch a few on one of my Arky Shakes I gave you . I'm like you , I use strictly a straight tail worm . Here in East Tennessee - the Zoom Swamp Crawler is king !!! It's a pretty salty bait , all the Shakey Heads I was buying were having a hard time not ripping the worm after 1 or 2 fish . That's when I decided to let the lead fill the weed guard hole in my Do It Arky Jig mold and cut off the collar and factory bait keeper . I tied that 15 lb mono keeper on and now I can get atleast 3-4 fish out of Zoom's softest worm . The Arky head comes through anything but grass pretty good . Thanks for everything Sir #FLUKEMASTER
I remember when I started bass fishing, these videos like this were so helpful! It's been 3 years since I started being serious about it, and I've caught some nice ones and learned so much!
I love the warlock head, but I hate when the screw lock starts moving around in that head. Recently been using the dirty jigs Scott canturbury head in 3/16...I think I like it better. Both do great around the grass here on Guntersville. Also, I like a baby brush hog. Give them a try!
Great vid Gene. Sometimes I take a pair of pliers and clip off a bit of that screw lock just to increase the distance. Owner 3/16 oz is money for me. And if the plastic is a bit hard, there's always the option of cutting a little slit on the bottom with a knife! That trick a must when fishing weedless paddletails for walleye here up north. 👍
Man I love the zoom 4 inch lizard, on cold rainy spring mornings I'll actually throw it weightless, and it sinks SUPER slow. I dont twitch it, I hardly drag it, most the time I just let it slowly fall, and before it hits bottom my line goes tight. Seems like this is the best time of the year for me to use them, always assumed because it's during the spawn and they see it ass a nest raider
I love a shaky head and I even have a really solid lighter baitcasting setup. I could get away with a 1/8 ounce but I usually fish 3/16 and a screw lock. My favorite worm would have to be a GrandeBass air tail worm. It’s like a zoom trick worm with a flat head and a air pocket in the tail that makes the bait stand up. One other worm I love to use it a 13 fishing bubble butt or a joystick. The normal sized one is best because the body is super thin.
Is there a big difference in 60 degree vs 45 degree when it comes to the heads and landing fish? Most of the heads I see available seem to be the 45 degree variety. Thanks
Thanks for the video… and yes, I learned something! I always tie a double uni knot for my braid to leader connection. I’ve only had one failure, and that was operator error, but I’ll make sure to keep the length short enough to be above the first line guide from now on.
Really enjoyed your video - good content, instruction, and not overloaded. Heading to NE PA lake - will be trying your technique/approach 🎣- thank you.
Thank you for this video, these days I swear all anyone is posting is baitcaster this and baitcaster that… i needed something to show how to play to the strength of my spinning rod!!!
Thanks for the info. I use seaguar basix and it's great for the price. Just Kno if anybody buys it that it has a 40% stretch which is about double as much as other fluoros. That being said I've never had it break or fail me and I continue to use on some of my reels
I have learned to never be without a shakey head on the deck. I have won tournaments with it. I usually use it on every lay down I see, no matter what other pattern is going. A Zoom red bug finesse worm is the bomb.
Absolutely put on a clinic for my buddy so is getting back into bass fishing yesterday using a shakyhead. Got to the point I was getting annoyed catching 20+ males, that’s how many fish that thing will catch😂
Hello, Flukmaster. I have a Pelican catch mode 110 without a power mode. Do you have any suggestions to attach a trolling motor to it. I'm a disabled veteran that tends to run out of padding energy before I'm ready to stop fishing. Thank you for your time.
I prefer to use zman worms so I have gotten away from the screw locks and I really like the heads that B-Lat created, the smh heads. Those floating worms just get so many more bites for me.
Man I've been fishing in the same area as you for like 5 years and I can't catch a single fish I've watched your videos and tried all the different ways of fishing you have discussed 😅 I don't know what I'm doing wrong
You know. Now that i think Bout it, I don't recall ever fishing a Shaky Head. I have all the terminal tackle and what not to do so. Just guess I never have. I'll have to change that this year
Weren’t you actively sight fishing in the tournament you got DQ’d in ? I’m a fan just don’t be a hypocrite. You have tons of videos bed and sight fishing. With that said I am a fan. Love the videos and tight lines sir.
So glad you're teaching again. I have learned so much from you over the years.
I appreciate that!
Agreed. You’re one of the best!
Now I know how to fish a shakey head . Gonna try it soon . Thanks !
Went out on kayak today caught six largies 2 on wackey and 4 on shakes. Thanks for all the time you put in to help us amateurs.
You learn something new every day, i always thought the smaller guides tear up your connection knot the most, I guess not
I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t like to sight fish spawning bass.. it’s just not the same if I catch a fish that I see 😂
Hehee what about live scope ?
@@phatpakbaits I fish out of a kayak… that I paddle … with my arms 😂
I agree, it’s no fun seeing the bite lol that’s the hole point of having fun fishing the start with, it’s feeling that bite! Lol
It's fun to see the bite as long as they aren't spawning because they would not be so territorial, protective and just instinctively bite anything. If they aren't spawning, they'll be much more sensitive to details.
@Boon fr I fish year round and fall and winter is my favorite months cause not many people are fishing and I know how to actually fish.
Great video! I got tired of trying to tell this girl how to fish a shaky head so I finally just shared the link to your video and told her to ff through all the talk about equipment and watch the technique

Thanks. Your descriptions are the best. Very detailed and clear. 😊
Great tips. Thanks. It was a pleasure to meet you and talk with you at the Indianapolis Boat Show. I appreciate all you do to help others fish better.
Really appreciate the info! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks Gene!! Love your videos!! I learn a ton .thank you so much!!😊

Thanks for the info! Great video and will be a big help. I've been getting hung up trying this and now I see why.
Learned a lot from this video Gene, thank you for sharing and have a great time with family on spring break 🎣🙂

Love ZOOM Lizards
Knot location tip is so clutch!!
Awesome video. I'll also use a small zoom speedworm and bite the tail off. Your video tips are awesome!

Work league last night, shaky head for the WIN! Thanks, Gene.
thanks for the tip on the double uni knot in front of the first guide. thanks for sharing.
Love my 13 fishing black spinning rod!

This newbie appreciates the education and Happy Easter!

I use a uni to uni and it also helps when you go ahead and reel the knot into your reel.
I use a drop of super glue on my double uni knot. It helps it slide through the guides
Always the best info!
Thank you for helping to educate and inspire. You are really helping me to get excited about fishing again! Stay safe!
Thank you I learned something today for sure..
Saw you out today on the lake hope you had a good day today !
You've convinced me lol, I'll be adding that to my setups. Great video man!
Great information and video thank you
Good informative video as usual. Thanks
Thank you Gene
One of my favorite rigs.

Glad it was helpful!

Hey sent you a update on conditions at Guntersville. Forgot your spring break was this week. Ours was last week.
Thanks for the great video. If one of those pros was showing us they would say use 20lb fluorocarbon with a 1oz jig head
Great video and information!
Thank you!

As always, great video
What is the picture that flashes around 12:30
Love your videos. And Go Dawgs!
Appreciate it!
Great video brother. Definitely took some notes on this one brother
Next time your in Tallahassee, I can show you a hidden gem of our lakes!
Good for pond bank fishing??
Great Job.
I learned stuff.

Awesome tips.
Will a shaky work on trout or walleye
Love it great stuff
Gene what lake are you fishing?
Good video, thanks!

Is that a hookkeeper on the spinning rod if it is what brand does it thank you.
Hey Gene, do you have any advice for someone trying to get into the kayak/fishing outdoor industry?
I prefer to use zman worms so I have gotten away from the screw locks and I really like the heads that B-Lat created, the smh heads. Those floating worms just get so many more bites for me.
Love the videos man
Do you still have the alumacraft?
Thank you another great video now let's make a lipless video LOL God bless be safe keep fishing
Hey Gene what’s your thoughts on the best time to throw a shaky head vs a T-Rig?
7:20 did you eat that?!?!? 😆
Almost swallowed it
@@Flukemaster 😂😂
Man I've been fishing in the same area as you for like 5 years and I can't catch a single fish I've watched your videos and tried all the different ways of fishing you have discussed 😅 I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Top water always for me helps catch spawning bass. Throwing a lure on the bed youd really have to be patient.
Could I have my rods and bags on my kayak while it’s on the trailer and drive on the road?
love the video.... Do you eat that piece of plastic? looks like you did.
I'm not a Great braid to leader can I use a barrel swivel
A barrel swivel won’t go thru your guides so you’d have a very short leader, learn the Alberto knot it’s very easy to tie
I fish the same way during the spawn. I don’t like sight fishing or messing with them much when they’re on beds
Why do you use a leader on braided line? Why not just use straight flourocarbon
Z-man SMH shaky heads and worms have been on point for me. I’ve caught more fish with a shaky head than a t-rig! I’ll have to try the warlock hooks.
I’ve had an FG break and I’ve never broken an Alberto. Everyone has their own opinions. I appreciate the insight. Happy Easter. Go Dawgs!
Do you eat the piece that we bite into off? Asking for a friend
Run a mono leader then you won't have to worry about "burning" knots and is actually more abrasion resistance than fluorocarbon
You know. Now that i think Bout it, I don't recall ever fishing a Shaky Head. I have all the terminal tackle and what not to do so. Just guess I never have. I'll have to change that this year
Now your going to tie a shaky head on.. I like it and a wacky rig
Caught my PB a few years ago on a shaky head
8:12 - You'll know when you squeeze it.....
Weren’t you actively sight fishing in the tournament you got DQ’d in ? I’m a fan just don’t be a hypocrite. You have tons of videos bed and sight fishing. With that said I am a fan. Love the videos and tight lines sir.
If you don't catch one on a shakey do a dropshot
I usually lose these jigs in like 3 casts. F
Cast and forget
