    Pro tip on elaztech worms with screw locks is to poke through the head with the hook. After you have done this, it will accept the screw lock no problem. 👌

    I fish Lake of the Ozarks bluffs alot using a baitcaster, 15lb fluoro line & a MH fast rod with a jig head & stick worm (Yum Dinger). I have tested a variety of worms and I am sure the Dinger does not "stand up." But I am also certain that it's inability to stand up does not cost me bites. This is based on several years of testing a variety of shaky heads and most worms on the market. I guess my point is that the variable "standing upright" may be less important than we are inclined to believe. Keep up the great work - most informative site on UA-cam.

    Here is another tip. You can get the ElaZtech type worms to work with a screw lock type hook by heating the screw lock with a lighter. The metal gets hot and it slides right into the worm and holds fantastic.

    I like to throw 1/8 or 1/4 oz shakey heads in summer with small ribbon tail worms or mann's auger tail worms. On deeper points or ledges but most of my bites come when i swim it close to the bottom sort of like you would a swim jig. I'll let it sink and sit for a couple seconds then drag it a short bjt then pop it up and swim it a few feeta foot or so off the botto. And let if fall on semi tight line so it swims back down. Pretty productive when fishing shallow to deeper water on points. Especially with spotted bass.

    I seem to always have a low hookup ratio. I’ll have to try out my baitcaster set up that’s similar. Normally throw it on my main spinning finesse set up. It’s frustrating because I get bit a lot when I throw it, and Ive caught some of my best fish on it. Thanks again for the tips.

      Yah, so it's all physics. If you use worm that floats like a z-man 6" it will raise up most shakey heads making them stand-up in that "shakey head" position. But with david duddley's shakey head he put those rear legs to offset the affects of the weight of the zoom trick worms dense plastic. good vids man. thanks

    I use the perfection lures stand up head with Bass Pro Shop floating worm. Best head on the market. There is one down side thought that you can’t see in a pool. It doesn’t do well in grass. The little wires get tangled up in vegetation a lot. But for light isolated grass, rocks or any hard bottom you can’t beat it.

  • @davisneil4941

    Thanks for the video. It was very helpful. I fish the 4-5 inch worm on all my shaky head jigs but I guess I need to start trying the 6 inch variety. I fish in middle Tennessee where there is rock everywhere, big rocks, small rocks, rock piles, chunk rock, rock, rock, rock. I lose so many of these jigs that I shy away from the most expensive ones most of the time. I'm going to use the floating worms more although I think the fish get conditioned to a lot of the traditional worms since my main lake (J. Percy Priest Lake) is so heavily fished. Lots of good info here. I really appreciate it!

    Great video, it proves what I've always wondered if a shaky head is really standing up or not with the zoom trick worm & it depends on the head itself, I've get more fish on zman worms than the trick worm because I've seen it in clear water & I know the bait stands up!👍

    I have to say that although this test is very interesting and revealing, there is a flaw to it. You can't replicate the lake bottom on a pool. There is nothing for the jighead to catch or get resistance from Johnny. Hence the bait will not really stand as you drag it on the bottom IMHO. great video though and I love these vids btw

    • @michaelwallace8727
      @michaelwallace8727 4 роки тому +3

      Maybe take a tarp and glue replica's of the bottom to it (so you don't mess up the Olympic pool) and then we see the action in a more realistic environment. Either way keep the video's coming as we have imagination and imagination can make up for the lack of realism. This video convinced me to use short trick worms or the floating versions.

      @@michaelwallace8727 definitely, all of those shaky heads probably have more action than what the vid show but it's nice to see him take the time to do the video. You can still see some perform better even with a slick bottom as the pool

      maybe your not. You can move it fast, or even slow. Try it all. One day I took a tip from Tactical Bassin and just starting ripping the shaky head hard and fast through the water and the fish could not resist, caught like 6 in an hour or less.

    Were you using the orginal Zoom trick worm or the super salt plus variant. It makes a difference in the buoyancy.
