    Baritone with tremolo, the perfect combo and such ace playing. Well done.

    I clicked thinking this would be some heavy, chugging riffs. Man was I pleasantly surprised. This is the sort of playing a company should encourage to show the versatility of baritone guitars.

      Expecting chugging riffs? It’s obviously your first time checking out Paul’s channel then, eh? 😉

    Due to arthritis, carpal tunnel and other hand issues, I've been tuning down to D on all my acoustics and some of my electrics and it's come to sound more "normal" to me. That sounds lovely, Paul.

    • @paulstaffordcook8799
      @paulstaffordcook8799  5 днів тому

      Thanks John. Shame about your hand issues. So far I’ve been lucky. But if things go south in my future, then tuning down seems like a good way to go.

    Fascinating. What a beautiful sounding instrument - these 4 Karl Longbottom guitars are all exquisite - I'd love to have that acoustic Strat - remarkable sounding. Never touched a Baritone - I did notice a Gretsch Electromatic (Made in China) here in the stockist but no real need to try it - I guess if I was in a 2 guitar band it might be handy for a riffing and/or 'cello lines' option . One day, maybe. I'm sure you know it already but in case not check out how Pat Metheny uses the Acoustic Baritone Linda Manzer built for him - he tunes the 2 middle strings up an octave, which makes for interesting chord voicing and intervals for soloing . . . beautiful. There are 2 CDs I have, 'One Quiet Night' & 'What's It All About', both lovely 😀

    It's a nice looking thing, very partial to a roasted maple flame neck, but the idea of playing it with a different tuning would be more than the old brain could handle. Again, would have loved to hear "Going Home" played on it 😄thanks for posting pal

    Hi Paul - have loved this mini series and getting your take on the range of sounds from the individual guitars. Interested to hear how they compare with your existing equivalents on your wall, including the Oswalds. Hard to believe could be BETTER but maybe there are differences. For me Oswald is the pinnacle

    • @paulstaffordcook8799
      @paulstaffordcook8799  5 днів тому

      Great question! In terms of build, they are absolutely up there with my custom shops, and my Oswalds. But Karl’s guitars are not relic’d. And as we all know, I’m a huge fan of a “worn in” feel. And so I always gravitate to them. Mind you, being nitrocellulose, Karl’s guitars would certainly age beautifully over time. But I don’t like to wait. Hence why I have my Oswalds 🤣

    That thing sounds great in your hands! You need to keep that one! You could do some cool movie/documentary scores on it! That sounds boring but there is some great music behind some of the best film.

    Sounds great! I was curious as to why you have your amp controls covered up?

    • @Paul-D
      @Paul-D 16 днів тому +1

      Probably to stop dust settling in the inputs and pots. Just a preventive measure if the amp doesn't get moved about too much. Just a guess but thats what I do often too

    • @paulstaffordcook8799
      @paulstaffordcook8799  5 днів тому

      Yes, it’s just stop dust settling on the controls. By the way, the amp you’re seeing “in shot” is not the amp being used for the vid. The amp being used is always off to the side, out of shot. Cheers for watching 🍻

    Lovely! What strings are you using on the baritone? I've been looking for flats to try on mine but no one sells the LaBella 20PB and it is perhaps a bit heavier than I would go for.

  • @AnnoyingCritic-is7rp
    @AnnoyingCritic-is7rp 16 днів тому

    Certainly the cowboy chords can sound pretty hypnotic. But the bass string can't really be used as a drone because it is so loud. I imagine there is too much tension and maybe even action to get the usual finesse and subtly that we normally hear.

  • @mooseymoose
    @mooseymoose 16 днів тому

    Cool, though I guess I'm just not into baritones. I dunno what it is, but they just don't move the needle at all for me. I had a seven string and it was the same deal. I liked the idea of extended lower range more than the reality.
