Another story about Miranda: When Miranda gave Jeanette that giant gift basket with the $100 gift card, Jeanette and her mom decided to get her a gift in return. She got one of those 2000's fluffy diaries from the Hallmark store and was so embarrassed that she couldn't afford something more luxurious to match Miranda. But when Miranda received the gift, she showed genuine excitement and told Jeanette that this was just what she needed, because she wanted to start journaling again. The gift basket was of course Jeanette's first (surface-level) positive impression on Miranda, but her reaction to the "cheaper" Hallmark gift was what made Jeanette actually excited to be her friend.
that’s literally so wholesome, i’m glad that they’re still friends 🥺
What an awesome post. Thank you for sharing.
that’s so sweet, miranda and jennette both are such kind people
That’s so beautiful? Where did ya get this info though?
That's so sweet. I'm glad they are such good friends. 🥺 🥺

Yeah, prepubescent potty mouths were always allowed around the children of parents who would rather not associate with low hanging fruit

@@ericthegreat3170 are you insinuating Jeanette’s mother didn’t want to “associate with low hanging fruit?” Because Jeanette’s mother groomed her for predators like Dan Schneider so she could profit and couldn’t care less about her daughters well-being if it meant she was making money for her. Let’s not pretend she had Jeanette’s best interest in mind when she didn’t want her around Miranda - she just wanted to keep Jeanette isolated so she could keep her to herself and abuse her.
It's nice to know that Miranda was actually a friend to Jeanette. Its almost like comfort knowing that iCarly was my favorite show growing up and they were my favorite!
Right! I’m not sure why I’m not surprised about cat and Sam . Didn’t care for the show honestly
@@plainomaddie9625 Ariana is known to have had, apparently, a kind of mean girl streak
@@vismattress5760 Jennette McCurdy never really hated Ariana Grande. She was just jealous of her.
As for Jamie Lynn Spears and potentially most other Nickelodeon girls, on the other hand…

I think it’s funny that jennettes mom didn’t want her to be friends with Miranda because she ‘didn’t believe in God’ but Miranda is one of the few people she mentions in the book that actually showed true concern for her especially when it came to her eating disorder. My parents used to say the same thing to me about my non religious friends and they were honestly the most genuine people
Bcz religion is a lie and leaves u dumb, with no common sense

As a godfearing dude, I'd say Miranda is closer to heaven than Jen's mother will ever be.
I relate to her so much I was raised by a heroin addic abusive toxic narcissist mother who abandoned me and I ended up with anorexia as a teenager .. I cannot stand my mother to this day despite trying to repair our relationship.. those toxic mothers just never change and don’t have that maternal instinct... my heart goes out to Jeanette

It's really heartwarming to know that the friendship didn't end when the directors yelled cut. Glad that she remained a true friend. She also didn't attend the award ceremony where dan was given an award. I hope more people realize how fucked this is and stands up to it in the future. Jennette rocks!

I’m so glad they’re friends!!!! I love the support Jannette is receiving, she truly deserves it after all the years of suffering she’s had to endure. I’m sure she’s at her happiest time right now. 🥺❤️
As a Christian there isn't a single faith (or lack of) that would make me not be friends with someone. You don't believe in God? Great, I do, respect me and I'll respect you. I don't understand the whole idea of "so and so doesn't believe in God so they're a horrible person"; if you're belief in God is the ONLY reason you're a good person, you're doing it wrong, the bible actually says this!! As a Christian it is my duty to spread love and forgiveness, NOT to judge anyone for their beliefs!
I agree with you. The Bible actually does not say that tho.
Maybe not in so many words and maybe I didn't say my thoughts clearly but the Bible teaches that love and forgiveness are basically the only things to matter, if you're living your life with love and forgiveness THAT is how you become good. Both are things you have to find within, things reading the Bible or believing in God cannot give you (having those things in your life can make it easier but they can't really change anything, that has to come from YOU). If you're only acting out of love or only forgiving someone because scripture tells you to, it's not organic, it didn't come from you, therefore being good doesn't really count since you can't find true love or forgiveness anywhere but inside yourself. It's more of a read between the lines interpretation than certain verses that say it but it's been broken down that way for me in many different church services and makes absolute sense to me. Just like if you were to smack a friend as you were playing; your parents probably sat you down and explained why it was wrong and told you you had to apologize. If you're anything like I was, I didn't want to, but I would to make my mom happy. But it wasn't a REAL apology, it wasn't sincere because it came from a place of "I have to" instead of "I want to to be better".
@@raylynne5280 exactly. the Bible says we are not saved out of our good works, so that means that a) God will love us anyway and our salvation is not dependent on what we do and b) it indicates that we should be loving and forgiving bc it’s the right thing to do, not bc it’ll get us into heaven!
@@emilee-has-legs yes, exactly, you summed it up much better than I did but I'm glad I got my point across!!
I'm a Christian myself and I have friends who are not Christian and we are okay with it. We respect each of their religions, we care to each other. Most of the family members from my Mom are Muslims and since I'm from 3rd world country where Muslims are dominated, there are a lot of Hijab people. I respect them and even when they have a Fasting month, I mostly don't want to eat in front of them.
Ugh breaks my heart that she wasn’t allowed to be friends with Miranda and that she had to message her in secret just for them to form a relationship

Is it possible that the mother just was being racist? Or was it another issue?
@@MeHoyMinoy-cv3ps I am talking about the mother not wanting her daughter (Jennette McCurdy) to be friends with Miranda Cosgrove while they worked together on iCarly…
You do realise Miranda is Asian right? Read and understand before you respond next time…
When reading her book, I realized that Miranda was her first real friend. Like, she was the first person to actually be kind to her and take an interest in her. And at the time, she needed that. That bond will last forever.
That was the part in the book that first made me cry. The entire story was so heartbreaking but it was when she met Miranda that finally broke me, because Jennette had been through so much already and Miranda was finally a glimpse of hope for her. So thankful they had each other during that time
honestly believing in a higher power is a choice. No one should be judged based on their beliefs :(
Yes, exactly! 💜
I agree 100% me personally I never believed in god till I turned about 17 or 18 maybe even 19 and a lot of people would like try to force me to church or force me to believe in god when I was younger and would really judge me because of me not believing and always say your going to hell because you don’t believe in god and don’t go to church than I finally believed in god and really learned you can have a personal relationship with god or a personal relationship in what you believe and you don’t have to go based on other peoples believes or how they praised the lord you can just have your own personal relationship
I agree with the second sentence but disagree with the first. I can't choose what I believe, I can't decide to make myself believe in a higher power right now. However, I can choose to act in a certain way based on those beliefs. I can choose to act obnoxious because of my beliefs or try and force my beliefs on others. While others shouldn't judge me solely on my beliefs, they can judge me based on my actions.
Belief isn’t a choice but following a religion is.
@@jojostorm all relationships with God should be personal. It should be something you want and actively work on (just like any relationship) No one can force someone into or out of a relationship and people who try only hurt their own cause. Im glad you were able to find your own reason to believe. Some people don't and that's okay too.
Miranda grew up in a very different household than Jennette. Her parents kept her in public school during Drake & Josh and during Icarly , they made sure to have shooting finished early for her to spend time with her friends . They also made sure to prioritize her education and to treat acting as a hobby for Miranda as they wanted her to go to college (which she did )
Miranda and Jerry mentioned last year they were close with Jennette all these years but not with Nathan as he was married . Also, Miranda is an exec producer of the new show . I remember she said she called everybody on doing the reboot last year.
Reading the book and seeing how good of a writer Jennette is, I hope she continues writing. It was something she wanted to do was she was young and her mother blocked it, I think she's pretty happy about actually writing her story and not just filming in on youtube or something. I'd read any book she writes.
Same! I hope she keeps writing, it seems like a natural calling for her. I will absolutely buy any book she writes ❤️
The icarly team did reach Jeanette. She declined and Miranda asked her afterwards. Its in the book. Fact checking is important
THANK YOU.
It may be me but it feels weird how Dan Schneider wrote out their characters to how they eventually would be facing after iCarly. Miranda ended up having the revival to her show and Jeanette was struggling with her inner self trying to find peace just like the ending of iCarly and the beginning of Sam and Cat. Not to mention she also had an abusive mother portrayed in the show which wouldn’t make it any better.
Well to be fair, that first 20 episodes were written before casting. After that though, maybe. Dan always set up things for new shows though, he did it with all of his shows so that's something he would've probably done regardless of Miranda and Janette
I always wondered... did Dan Schneider write Sam's mom like that on purpose? With Jeannette mother in mind?
@@IsSalvationReal mind control program
The other thing to consider is the psychological affect. At a young, impressionable age it's on par with grooming where we subconsciously enact our traumas/the experiences we go through. It seems Miranda had a more constructive outcome given her spot whereas Jeannette got the raw end of the deal.
@@IsSalvationReal yo what? were they getting drunk as minors too like avan jogia lool? we need a disney expose too.

I've been listening to the audiobook of "I'm Glad My Mom Died" for about a week now, not quite halfway through it, and I'm actually really enjoying it. A good chunk of it has been difficult to listen to, but while it's difficult it's important. The rate I'm going I'll probably finish it next week or the week after.
What saddens me is I've seen on Twitter since the book's release that a lot of people are more focused on the Ariana Grande of it all rather than the Jennette's mom of it all. I haven't gotten to the talking points in the book about Sam & Cat and Ariana Grande yet, but I know that a lot of people are talking about that more than what Debra put Jennette through. I'm just wondering why Debra couldn't think she could get into acting as an adult, rather than try to force her kid into it at a young age.
Always easier to force your kid to do something than to try and do it yourself
I’ve listened to it all and I’m not gonna spoil anything, but she literally mentions Ariana once and doesn’t stay on the topic for very long. People are taking that part and running with it, when it’s such a small section of the book.
well she explains why she was feeling that at the time. Twitter doesn't add the bit in the thank you page about hoe they are best friends and she loves her
update:
finished listening to the book a few days ago. very good. I finally got to the points I didn't get to before. i cant believe people are taking one small part of the book and running with it and just not focusing on the main point of the book itself. I remember her also mentioning Ari in the Acknowledgment section too so like... why do people think there's beef or why are they trying to make beef?
As someone who watched Sam & Cat I will say I do agree with Jennette, it is pretty shitty, especially now knowing what readers know about what happened behind the scenes (and not just with The Creator but everything else)
Without even personally knowing Miranda you can tell she a good hearted person and not in a faking it type..
Yup and I just love it even more because Miranda played that kid in School Of Rock.. from that moment on I knew Miranda is such a sweetheart even though her character acted savage on School of Rock 😂
Its so crazy that Jennette was having issues with and had an abusive mother while on iCarly and Sam’s mother wasn’t the best either. I’m sure it’s a coincidence but damn.
I wonder if Dan did that on purpose bc Sam’s eating habits was supposedly inspired by / a response to Jennette’s real struggles 🤔
And the pageant thing
Knowing Dan Schneider it was definitely 100% on purpose.
I bought her book and her mom was already pissing me of at the beginning and I haven't even gotten to the iCarly part of the book yet. I am glad she finally got the help she needs and is willing to share her story.
I love hearing Jennette's and Miranda's friendship.
I just finished reading the book and the way Jennette wrote about Miranda was so so sweet. Literally the only person in the book that Jennette had nothing but good things to say. I'm so glad that they had each other as a support system
Her mother was a horrible person. That's all I'm saying.
It reminds me of when I was in high school I had a neighbor who when I talked to her she seemed calm and happy but one day she ended her own life, sometimes people who seem the happiest and calmest are people who are deep down struggling the most
There was no shady plot behind the iCarly reboot, Miranda simply is one of the producers and has a final say in things, so it made sense for her to approach Jenette.
crazy how i use to watch this as a kid and was always the most drawn to jeanette out of the cast. now, we have a lot of the same themes with trauma and how she handles it as an adult reminds me so much of myself.
I have an 18 yr old and she loooved iCarly. I always enjoyed watching it with her too. Sam and Spencer were my favorites 😂 Every once in a while I'd catch myself watching it even when my daughter wasn't around lol

Miranda does seem really sweet, to be honest. I'm glad Jennette had someone that was good to her.
Thank you for posting so often for us! I am also so excited to receive my book By Jennette, its on back order until Sept. 2nd. Go Jennette!!!
Actually in her book she stated that an executive for the ICarly reboot reached out to her before Miranda did and she told both of them the same thing.
Y’all please read the book. It’s so eye opening and heartbreaking to know what she went through as a child and how her past shaped her relationship with her body image and food.
I noticed her character was played so well it felt kind of real at times. Like when Sam would get angry you can tell it might be coming through
I have no doubt
That’s so lovely. Props to Miranda for being the shining light in Jeanette’s darkness caused by her mother.
For those who don’t have time for reading, DEFINITELY check out the audiobook. Jennette reads it herself so you can get the full effect!

I also hate it when people weaponize religion, or use Religous Fear tactics. I believe in God and Jesus, but I don't follow any type of religion, i dont go to church, i dont confess to a priest, and I definitely don't push my beliefs onto others. I believe if you are a good person, kind hearted, help others, you will be rewarded when you die, regardless of what you believe here on earth. The God and Jesus I believe in, isn't going to send someone to their own personal hell for eternity when they were a good person while alive but just didn't believe in God.(I don't believe in a burning hell, I believe hell is whatever you were scared of most in life, being repeated over and over again for eternity)
Believe in whatever you want, and Don't let religious nuts make those religious decisions for you, whether it be tricking you, or scaring you.
Hope you all have a wonderful day/night. all of you, and your families, stay safe and healthy. 💜🤝
I do agree with your statement on weaponizing religion. Scaring people into following God isn’t okay. There is a proper way to open that door for people that takes patience, kindness and an understanding that not everyone will ultimately believe in God at the end of the day. But as hard as it is to hear for many people, simply doing good things and being a kind person will not get a person into Heaven, if at the end of the day you don’t believe in God. You have to truly believe in God and Jesus Christ. This is the hardcore truth that many need to hear, no matter how difficult it is to understand.
