The only reason she avoided the questions about Dan is because the book wasn’t about Dan. She talked about how she was crying one night after all the headlines came out because she poured her soul into this book and all people talked about was Nickelodeon and Ariana Grande. She wrote mostly about her mom’s abuse as well as ex boyfriends and only small bits about Dan. A lot of people used and abused her and she felt like no one acknowledged that until after the book was officially released. I’m glad this stuff is being talked about, but please, Sloan, read her book. The world needs to be talking about her awful mother as well as the scum of the earth she calls “Joe” (Paul Glaser) and “Liam” (Unknown).
Why do those names sound familiar to me in cases of even Drake Bell… unfortunately. I’m not sure if those even correlate but hm’.
So, what you're saying is Dan Shneider isn't a pedophile? Weird.
💯
exactly! i read the book and u can tell who’s read the book or at the very least had the decency to listen to jennette in the interviews. People should buy the book and stop leaking pages of it! Her book is about more than Dan Schneider and Arianna Grande. Dan needs to actually be held accountable 100% but so do other enablers/abusers in the network and not against arianna. If anything people (especially people with platforms) should talk more about the danger child stars are put in. Also the “beef” between jennette and arianna isn’t even beef but more making a point of how badly she was treated by the network. It’s actually frustrating! This book also opens discussions of how abusers are often people who are supposed to be your protector and nurturer.
I read the book and I pretty much agree with all your points. The book wasn’t a focused expose on Nickelodeon. It’s Jeanette’s life story. There’s plenty of Nickelodeon information in it imo. If ppl actually read it they would know that
The name of the book is "I'm glad my mom died". Not "I escaped dan schneider".
Just because Jennette was ready to talk about her mom doesn't mean she was ready to say Dan by name. And to be honest, even if she doesn't say his name, everyone knows who it is. I can see just from a writing perspective how she might have came to the conclusion to only out her mom. The minute she says Dan, that's all the conversation turns into! It's her decision, i'm not sure her saying his name explicitly would have changed anything about the discourse.
She did that to avoid a lawsuit, for sure. I get it’s pretty obvious that it is Dan, but she could say it’s more than one of the producers
She can't say Dan by name because of potential legal action
the craziest thing is that the DS-Situation is not the only thing that happened to her and that her mom was encouraging her to get and stay in that enviroment. Everything in the name of fame at all cost. All pushing and control no love or safety
I believe she did not mention Dan by name because she did not want to incite a lawsuit, however, I think this part of her story was very important.
What happened to Dan ?
The book was more about her relationship with her Mother and eating disorder. As much as I would have liked to hear more about Hollyweird, her relationship with her Mother was the main focus. Her Mother had the most impact on her life and turmoil over creepy Dan.
The book was called "I'm Glad My Mom Died"....
Literally but all they wanna talk about is Dan🙄🙄
HE ALREADY MADE A VIDEO TALKING ABOUT THE ABUSE FROM HER MOTHER!!!
@Bruh Bruh stop spamming this please
@@PlAiNJaNe521 Yes, shout it out for those in the back!
I bought the book on audible... I have listened to it a couple times already. Not because I am a fan of hers, ive never even seen the show... but because its so crazy. What she went through is insane (not just with her career, but with her mother, and with men who took advantage of her) it's really crazy. I'm surprised she's still sane after all that tbh... no.wonder she quit the business. That poor girl hasn't been given the chance to speak her mind or express herself until now.
@Bruh Bruh I'm happy for you! 😆✌️
And Newsom made the G & P Protection Law.
I also think she avoided questions about Dan because her book is much more about her relationship with her mother and how it shaped her life than her time at Nickelodeon (although it is mentioned throughout). It’s sad she had to go through all of this trauma and I’m glad she is so brave in sharing her story to help others out there who may be going through similar themes in their lives. I actually met Jennette recently and she was so sweet and kind. I’m glad her book is getting the attention it deserves. Also thank you covering this topic and spotlighting it!
Even if she isn't under an NDA, I don't blame her for not talking about it. It was an extremely traumatic time in her life that she's trying so hard to leave behind. Maybe this book was her final way to just dump everything. I'd imagine it would be exhausting to relive trauma everytime everyone asks. With the comment about her telling the last interviewer that it's all in her book, it sounds kind of like she's also trying to say that she is so much more than her time on iCarly and that's all anyone ever wants to know about. My heart goes out to her. I wish her well on her journey to shed the adults that failed her.
Well people are going to ask because she wrote the book... which makes sense. That being said as someone else pointed out she may of not wanted to say to much in order to not give away details in the book.
@@eliciaeldridge3452 That could be it too. This book would be a good way to get her story out to a mass audience.
I love that Janette dodged the questions about the money and just promoted her book. Good on her!
@@youjustgotburned3980 exactly and he has posted that exact same comment like 20x on here. 🙄
I’m sorry for the spammer, guys. Taking care of it now.
@@simplymonca9608 wait who are you? how did you have authority over youtube users?
@@leaf6356 Hi, I’m Monica. Sloan’s moderator ✌🏻
ive read the book, highly reccomend. theres just so many details that will never be summed up properly. i got it on audible and it felt like i was listening to a story time the whole way through
@Bruh Bruh your account can be banned for self promo if it gets reported often enough..
@@lemonzest_ he’s being blocked. Don’t worry
The fact that she didn't even name him outright says it all. Still holding a lot back. I wish she had said more. But let's be honest, that could be it's own book. She might have felt that she didn't want a book about how her mother impacted her life to be all about him.
She actually did in one ocasion, i think it was a mistake actually, that she didn't wanted but she just put it there without realizing it
Maybe she’s not ready to die
Remember , Dan Schneider has more money than Jennette. The more money the more power you have. Especially when it comes to suing.
that and when you’re a victim of trauma you can’t bring yourself to say the names of those who abused you. johnny depps case where he referred to amber as miss heard is an example.
If it’s one thing I’ve learned is that you always have to be careful… in who you meet and what you do … my heart goes out to Jennette … what she went through I can’t even imagine… it’s sad to hear that she went through such trauma … I’m proud of her for stepping up to the plate and brining this to light .. letting people know that the entertainment business isn’t what it is ..
We hear stories like this out of Hollywood all the time, though. Elijah Wood and Corey Feldman (the latter of whom had his life destroyed before later being proven entirely correct) talked about how that industry has a massive pedophile problem. We all know now about Cosby and Weinstein and the like. Pam Anderson was one of the few counter voices to the me too movement, saying that when a young actress goes to a director/producer’s hotel room at night, she knows why that’s happening.
They call it the “open secret” of Hollywood, meaning it isn’t a secret at all, but rather a ring heinous sex crimes that everyone knows about but no one is willing to do anything about. We can’t blame anyone but ourselves for that.
Only people who had an abusive mother can understand how it impacts your life, how hard it is to realise you had nobody to rely on since the day you were born. When I see people focusing more on Dan Schneider and Ariana Grande it breaks my heart because is just ignoring what actually hurt Jannette the most, and what she actually wants to talk about.
Her lawyer clearly told her to deflect from it. I wonder if she signed a NDA afterwards OR if Nickelodeon is looking for reasons to sue?
Miranda Cosgrove accepted hush money. and others that haven’t came forward. Jeanette is so brave
I’ve been wondering about her funny enough.
I haven’t read a full book in years but finished this book in one day. I couldn’t even believe thedifferent experiences she had this whole time. This memoir was so well written. I had no idea the girl from my favorite childhood show sacrificed so much to please her mother and lost sight of herself in the process. She is extremely brave. A GOOD READ!
I feel awful for Jennette. I'm just glad that the iCarly cast is supportive of her. I would have loved to seen her as Sam in the new iCarly but her mental health matters most.
Maybe she didn't want to further discuss it through the interviews to compel the audience to purchase the book. Just a thought.
Oh come on, it's not like this is Amy Schumer bitching and moaning about how traumatized she is by watching Will Smith thlap what's-his-face during the grammies or whatever. Jennette is clearly trying to tiptoe very carefully around the situation to avoid getting on anyone's bad side.
@Bruh Bruh I mean it's not like your content is superlative either bubba
It's partially that but she probably doesn't want to get sued, Nickelodeon is already on her ass and Dan is too. So if she actually starts speaking out WITH their names they're definitely suing her and probably would try to get rid of the book too.
Well he might try to sue her for defamation if she says his name and/or anything else that isn't in the book. 🤷🏼♀️ However, I hope that if he does try to sue Jeanette, it will motivate other former employees of Dan's to come forward as witnesses and testify against him. I want to buy her book now. 🤔
This may be tmi and stupid but....im going through it today....through it. One of the lowest days ive ever had. Im trying to find something to watch on youtube to get my mind off of everything im feeling bc i literally dont know what else to do 😂. I was searching for you because youre one of my comfort youtubers lol but couldnt find any new videos. But then within seconds...this pops up. Thank you Sloan! Seriously ik it sounds dumb but i feel like im GENUINELY losing my mind and i really needed this. Im gonna take me a little smoke break and enjoy this much needed video!!
Sending you love & light 🦋tomorrow is a new day I hope it is better for you 💗

Endure the bad days to live to see better days 😌🌻🍃
Hope you feel better soon 😊❤️ God bless
Plz do more Nickelodeon videos like this. Dan Schneider is actually sick 🤮
Please. His face is disgusting 😑🤮
Just want to say, you’re incredible Sloan. Your videos get me through my day!
Agreed 🙌🙌🙌❤️
Literally same 💯
Same here
I couldn't wait for my physical cooy to be shipped, so I bought the audio version 💀
It’s kind of sad relooking back now; I always wanted emotional character development with Sam’s character on iCarly & now it’s Jeanette’s actual reality being expressed to make up for it. ♥️ May she be able to find her own core happiness at the end of everything.
I appreciate these videos so much because people need to know what really happened. ♥️♥️
Quickest click of my life!!
Same!!! Lmao
Thats why she calls him the creator. She cant use his name.
Or maybe she doesn't want to be sued for "slander"
She’s likely protecting herself. As she should honestly. Everyone likes the nitty gritty details but it’s actual serious matters & if anything, genuinely good for her. Her wellbeing definitely matters more & sometimes that’s resorted to privacy. If she said no to hush money, it’s possible she’s outlived any legalities as well; that we know of.
I'm so proud of her ,hope she finds happiness and peace in her life
Poor Jeanette! Sucks she had to go through all of that. You can tell it’s taken a toll in her life.
In my opinion,
#1. Nickelodeon is owned by Paramount Global (formerly CBS Viacom) which includes up to 170 networks and media conglomerates under a company called National Amusements. A huge corporation with lots of lawyers for all of their broadcasting, streaming, books, films, music content and web portals! Subsidiaries include, you guessed it, Jeanette’s publisher Simon and Schuster. We don’t know the terms of her book deal contract, but most likely there is a “don’t bite the hand that feeds you” clause. Her vague answers are a way of protecting herself legally for breach of contract.
#2. Her lawyer and press agent most likely advised her in how to avoid a possible defamation lawsuit by Nick and DS, hence the ambiguous answers during her press tour and calling her boss the “The Creator” in her book. There is some grey area/ up for interpretation between the constitution’s protection of free speech and defamation. Defamation is a legal term that refers to any statement made by a person, whether verbal or printed, that causes harm to another person’s reputation or character. A defamatory statement made in writing, or “published,” it is considered “libel,” a defamatory statement that is spoken is considered “slander.”
When dealing with entertainment (or any large corporation for that matter) always look to see who owns the parent company and what the subsidiaries or “child” companies are. Then follow the money. We can get a lot of answers to people’s behavior that way. Hope this helps.
She can't say too much at any rate, NDA or not. Just her being vocal about all the abuse and toxic goings on puts her at risk of being silenced and it being a "suicide" (allegedly and imo).
I'm glad she is speaking her truth, and I hope she stays safe and continues to rebuild. And people focus on her part of her story.
And learn from it.
Thanks for another one. 💗✨
You uploaded this 5 minutes ago. Thank you, Sloan, you are the savior of so many of my bad days. You‘re doing a wonderful job
Her comment about sending her nieces to college has stuck with me. I hope she earns enough from her book sales to make that a reality. Sending to your nieces to college by speaking up, rather than staying silent. That's the way to go!
Ive listened to the book. [Its phenominal, btw., Ya’ll.] I totally get what youre saying about D.S. i think that wasn’t the point of her book and she didn’t want the book to become about the abuse The Creator dished out. That story deserves its own documentary, its not just her story to tell. I would love for Jeannette to report on everything that happened with DS, but i think we will have to wait and see. I think one would fear for their life when outing someone like that….he’s scary, he abused those kids and i don’t blame them for being fearful, like a bad ex.
❤️🌈 Great videos today Sloan! Keep it up
Gotta catch this later. Glad you’re following this so extensively
Love the new background 🥰
i dont think 300k was nearly enough money for the girl that carried iCarly in her BACK
Or maybe she doesn't want to be sued for "slander"
Love your work, you’re the best ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love your new intro graphics ❤️
The outro music is so chill
The fact that legally you can’t drink alcohol in the US when you’re 18-20 but you can decide to be a soldier and kill others is insane
Still was inappropriate from her employer.
Jennette deserves so much better.
Thank you
I love your videos I've watched them for the last 2 months!
your videos are amazing.
One of my favorite UA-camrs!
It’s cause the book and her life isn’t about Dan. It’s about her. I feel like she gets annoyed that people just took that part and made it big when it’s pretty minor in book compared to the rest. You have to read it tho
Sloan GOD Bless You 🙏🏻❤️😘 You are doing amazing you are helping everyone through the truth ❤️
SLOAN!!! I LOVE the “Lets get into it” intro!!! Sorry if that’s weird! I’m obsessed with graphic design and digital marketing. That was soooo perfect 😍
The truth needed to come out im still getting her book. She has my total support im planing get the book next month.
All these celebrities deserve better from these shows. There’s so much trauma and Hollywood is so dark the entertainment industry is dark so much toxicity and some of these celebrity parents are toxic too! I hope these innocent celebrities heal ✨🫶🏽
I’m so here to support her and other victims who hopefully will come out!!! 🙏🏼 Bless her heart! I’m so proud of her cause we all know that sick man Dan is a very sick man plus Disney too.. sheesh
As a kid that watched these shows a lot, it's still crazy to hear about every piece of info that makes it out into the light.
It's shocking, upsetting, and frustrating
Knowing the past can't be changed, I'm just glad everyone's out of their own horrible situations and periods of time of 'suffocation'.
Just ouch, man.
I’m so proud of her
I think she isn't saying much about Dan in interviews because she wants everyone to read her book. Completely understandable.
👎
Im getting her book from amazon cause last Friday my dad bought.
I am so proud of how you have evolved as a creator. You have always researched topics very well and have a compassionate view of things. At first it was more videos expressing concern for some different creators, and as you get more into the gross insides of Hollywood, you have not shied away. You have kept pushing. You have a true fan in me. I have thought that Hollywood was gross, now we have proof.
I cannot get my hands on the book😭😭
early! Love u sloan
She said she didn't accept the money. She automatically and instinctively turned it down and she talked about how she even surprised herself because that money would have helped with alot at that point in time but she said she turned it down because it was pretty much "hush money"
My jaw dropped as you were reading her book. I’m going to Barnes & noble to get it tomorrow. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping us stay informed about the craziest shit
The book came in for me and now I need a drink recommendation
I don’t think she get the money but she don’t want to get into legal trouble so she decided to not talk more about it.
Omg just yesterday I came across icarly "season 2" and was wondering why she wasn't in it
This sounds so familiar to the Lou Pearlman story
Ive never been this early
O truly feel so bad for her and all of the kids who go threw any kind of absue its horrible and no one should ever have to be abused in any way.i am ordering her book right now.
I have a 3.5 hr car rids with my in-laws and husband. Im definitely going to catch up on your videos in the car.
I agree with most of the comments about how to book is about her mother so she probably doesn't want the attention to switch on to dan.
but I hope she writes a squeal about dan and nick with a title just as good as "I'm Glad My Mom Died", or whatever dark part in her life she feels she needs to write out.
🖤🖤🖤
You can see the pain in her eyes. 💔
The book isn’t just about her time at Nickelodeon and her experiences with Dan. After reading the book and seeing what ALL she went through with her mother and past relationships, things that happen at Nickelodeon seem MINUSCULE compared to all she’s been through. We should be taking about her whole trauma experience and not just this specific part because the whole book isn’t about this. Yeah we knew when she was coming out with the book that’d she would talk about Dan Schneider and we really wanted to know what happened, but she wrote about many other things and we should be proud of her for being open about it not just being open about her experiences with Dan
Say it louder please!!
Her story deserves to be out loud and so well detailed for rectifying the moment purposes.
Sloan I used to not like ur channel very much but once I saw how u were/are about Brittany and about these other stars who need help that isn't spoken much about. I love your channel now and you seem like u really care about some of these people. I hope u in keep it up and keep it caring.... How do like CA btw .. that where I'm from originally and I love it and miss it there
Obviously, I don't know anything, but I wonder if Ariana Grande took the hush money and that's why she defends Nickelodeon so much.
@@Jess-yp9fo i think dan and her had an agreement and that’s why she’s so famous now
I ordered the book she wrote can't wait to read it she's a strong person
God bless Jeanette for speaking up
Hello beautiful. Can you make a video about where Dan Schneider is now
300,000 seems like a pittance considering how much Nickelodian has made over the years. They could have given her a shitload more! Its the least they could do. And without an NDA
Being from Germany where the drinking age is 16/18 (depending on what you're drinking) it may not seem as a big deal at first glance offering a drink to 18 old. I imagined she was younger, like 14 or 15. BUT (huuuuuuge but):
- you don't force someone to drink. neverrrr. No matter if they're under or over 21.
- the creator was a kind of a boss figure, so : what boss encourages you to get drunk? and even so drunk that you show up drunk to work? and proper acting requires sharp senses and cognitive function as well as a good control of your actions, you don't have that, when you're drunk
- when it is illegal in the US to drink when you're under 21, why would a boss encourage you to do something illegal? I'm all about responsible drinking, but if it's illegal it's not responsible. If it's a lot you're drinking it's not responsible too.
- The industry is full of tragic stories of addiction, why would someone encourage people drinking a lot in such a stressful enviroment
- What twisted kind of edge is it for a children's television show to be label as "the show where the actors are getting drunk all the time". Even if victorious is targeted at the older nickelodeon viewers, alcohol should be banned from such enviroment targeted to tweens and teens.
- Who knows how many younger actors where involved?
this all appears sketchy to me: Promoting irresponsible, inappropriate behaviour, even illegal actions. Why? Maybe to shift some boundaries? To have something to blackmail them, in case they don't do want the creator want? To numb them and let them things do, that they don't want to do? like that disgusting bits from the show we've all seen in several compilations... that all has a terribly creepy feeling to it
Earliest I've ever been!
Shes being clever. Aluding to the obvious person but not naming means she avoids heavy lawsuits. Shes awesome for turnung down the hush money too!
Ethical/fire UA-camr keep up the grind
in case no one noticed, sloan has been doing each topic discussed in jeannette's book separately and his first video is about her mother
What your skincare routine? It’s looking 🔥🔥🔥🔥♥️
his name is avan jogia the actor whom barely remembers filming. his acting quality is good, im also not surprised that they “had” to go out
Early gang!
If y’all can’t get the book really recommend the audio book it’s only a few hours long but it’s incredible and free w audible
In the book she says she said he'll no to the money but thought about how much it could have helped
4:07 ! I was right! I was right! It says "Dan" right there!
My SO: let me see this Dan I always hear you watching and talking about…
Looks at screen
SO: yeah, he did it.
Yes
Thanks for the video on pictures of the book,I think that she doesn't want her book to be about Dan yeah it was important but the title is "I am glad my mom died" not "the reasons why I regret working at Nickelodeon" she keeps all the questions to what the book is really about and encourages people to read it,if she would have taken the money she wouldn't have talk about the back massage and alcohol issue at all 🤷🏾♀️
I think she's avoiding saying Dan by name to avoid getting sued for defamation.
Lol here in our country kids do get drunk at younger age like 12-15
❤
Her book was AMAZING
As far as I can remember Beck Never Said anything about partying in this TikTok
The sad thing is Dan Schneider has been secretly back at Nickelodeon for a few months now
I’m pretty sure she was avoiding that question because it’s about Dan & the abuse that happens in Nickelodeon. It’s Not about the money.
Dan is a narcissistic, controlling sick man. Poor Jeanette and crew.
