Thanks for your help. I had to replace the HDD for a friend of mine who has a very similar notebook (a HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab004nh), I was nearly at the end of my patience when I finally found your video and thus the hidden screws. Cheers!

Really helpful. My Pavilion was kinda different and there are no teardowns for these specific models but this helped tremendously! Also, I didn't mind that this was accurate because that laptop was having consistent hardware failures I just didn't care to break it.

There are *4* different sizes involved with this laptop. If you don't keep track it becomes a nightmare. @@adisingh9341 the same screwdrivers that you use on regular screws on the laptop can be used on the little ones too but be very careful not to smoothen the heads of them they are so easy to wear out. Very poor design, I changed the hard drive to ssd because the original drive was very slow. Occasionally I had to wait 5-15 minutes for a restart. Disassembly was quite nightmarish as the screws behind the DVD drive were stuck, it was impossible to remove. I will never buy such a computer.

**NOTE** 2 items applicable to the Pavilion 15-p167 laptop: 1) The hinge cover does not pop out as shown. It has a screw under each friction pad that needs to be popped off first to reveal the screw. Once removed, the hinge cover comes off as shown. Then you can remove the screws in the next step. 2) There is one last disc-shaped "mini" screw that prevents removing the top cover from the base and is found by removing the CD/DVD tray cover.

KEYBOARD -- you did not cover this. The keyboard is a NIGHTMARE to remove. Why? Because HP used plastic rivets to secure it to the top panel. Not only is there a metal brace that is plastic-fused in place, but the original keyboard is plastic fused to the support in several places. My keyboard was becoming problematic and some letters had worn off. When I saw keyboard parts were available, I figured no problem (I did this before on an older HP). Well... when I discovered what HP did I was so mad. I did accomplish the keyboard change. In fact, it's now BACK LIT! I really wanted that capability. Anyway, the keyboard is not totally tight, but the "give" isn't too bad. It's just great to have a new keyboard, especially with lighted keys.
I don't recommend doing the keyboard alone. It was very time consuming and risky. It is best to replace the whole top bezel with the keyboard and touchpad as one unit.
