    The crazy thing about Toby is I forgot about him for years, and now in my young adulthood ran into him at a coffee shop that both him and I frequent. I won't say where for privacy reasons, but I ended up talking to him a few times, he definitely seems extremely affected by what happened it's a bit sad to see. He's trying to break out into an entertainment career outside of UA-cam which I wish the best of luck to him in. Can believe me if you want or not, it was a surreal experience to meet someone you watched in your teens years almost 12 years later.

      Awesome to hear it. He's one of the only YTers I truly wanted to do a video discussion with back then. Way more talented than a ton of folks out there, despite them all being more popular, "slick" with fancy cameras and editing, etc. At least Toby was pretty much the unedited real deal, and his music videos were insanely awesome.

    As a 20 year old now, I used to watch his videos all the time with my brother. It was my younger brother that got me into his videos, and because of that everytime I get reminded of Toby nowadays, I get a deep longing of the time I used to spend watching Toby's videos with him. Especially from his Terraria and Minecraft series. It also gives me a deep nostalgia for old UA-cam, my childhood, etc. I really hope Toby is doing well. He will forever be cemented in my heart.

    You're absolutely right it was the perfect storm of allegations and his audience growing up. I was very young, my brother would show me his content when he was in grade school, and I was still at an age where the news wasn't something I watched, so I never heard of any allegations or even would've understood quite what that meant, but what did me in was the loudness and the silly voices that just didn't work once I get into middle school. My brother introduced me to Markiplier and the rest is history, as the glorious entry of FNAF swept me onto a train of new UA-camrs leaving the days of Happy Wheels and Minecraft behind (until people would revisit them in 2020). There were moments I looked back and wondered what happened to UA-camrs I used to watch, saddened by what happened with Smosh, Nigahiga, and the general decline of Tobuscus into obscurity.

    The issue is: if these women were dishonest, not only did they lie but they essentially destroyed the voices of other people who have really faced these issues.
    It’s hard because as someone who has experienced SA two times in my life, I was never believed by my therapists, family, or even the cops because they claimed that I was ‘overreacting’ and that “women exaggerate those things”. Those women are apart of the very reason REAL claims aren’t taken seriously.

    • @ligma212
      @ligma212 2 місяці тому +2

      Its nothing new for people with money and power to abuse it. Look at all the dudes who had influence over young people and the inappropriate relationships they got into with young girls. Also its not that a couple women lie as to which they arent believed. Its the fact that people are more likely to believe the abuser because they are popular and they have a nostalgia bias. Look at all the minecraft youtubers who have been creeps and groomers. Its one thing if one woman comes out against you its a different thing if its a pattern and multiple women come out against you. At that point you could claim there is some coordinated attack against you but you would need evidence for it. People's heros arent ss wholesom as they think

    The fact that allegations can ruin the career of such a talented soul is indicative of our failing society and especially in a country where people are supposed to be innocent until PROVEN guilty. In cases where their lives are put on the small screen for everyone to see, allegations are a death sentence, even when they are false. I hope these women are ashamed of themselves.

      I believe we need to have a bit of a cultural shift on sexual abuse allegations. People need to feel empowered to go to court and seek the police timely so that they can get their day in court and it can be settled.
      Once we have that kind of society, we can say “allege whatever you want but go to court if you’re serious.” That solves it, IMO. Her allegations were very serious and it’s out there to not go to the police for being drugged and sexually assaulted.
      I hope for timely justice and things to be settled in court. ^^ let’s aim for that kind of world - it’s more fair for everyone.

I didn't even know her and it turns out she made shit up and accused me of something that couldn't have happened when she said it did because I wasn't even within hours of the town for like 5 years. my wife hit her up when she saw her the next day and the woman waffled and said it might have been the year before or after and my wife shut her right down with proof that it just couldn't have happened.

His audience had already began drifting and moving on. Fast forward I’d actually end up going through false allegations with my ex fiancé I had to provide our texts and emails. That's the problem with cancel culture. Guilty until proven innocent. It's toxic. If he is guilty, then shame on him, but someone simply making a claim is insufficient evidence. good video man, just saw a pretty popular post from him on insta and the entire comment section was just people asking "Didnt you assault someone" with a handful of people basically saying what you just said. Im glad there's still people who can look past claims and see someone who really did something on a generation of people

    I wonder if Toby watched. This and what he feels. As the person that went through this. At the end of the day, he is still a person that was on top, then was striped down over allogations. That hasn't ever been proven so likely untrue. It's all just sad to think about

    I went on a deep dive about the allegations against him a while back, and from what I could tell most of them were thrown out because of secere inconsistencies in the claims. If i remember correctly, a couple of tnem even said they made it up, for reasons i dont remember now. But about a year or two ago, i randomly remembered Tobuscus because of some fanart i found when i moved out of my parents home, that i had made with the intent to send him. The vidoes i saw all felt severly awkward which granted looking back i think hes always been that way; and a lot of them had him going on some rather bigoted rants and political tangents, and complaints about UA-camrs now and how videos are all cut up to be funny. It was depressing. you could see in his eyes that he was just done with life. More recently, he semeed to try and reboot his channel, he's now making songs and trailers again, but most of the videos havent blown up. Although i did get a couple on my recommendation page.

    “17 to 23”?
    I was in my twenties when I first started watching his content back in 2010ish. To be fair I have a nephew that’s now in their teens that I used to watch Tobuscus vids with. I remember him being so excited as a kid to watch “that guy from Cartoon Network” back in the day.
    Edit: I already replied to someone with this comment, but thought it should also be mentioned here. His drug use was pretty notorious at one point. Philip DeFranco even mentioned how Toby’s behavior was out of control and is why he was fired from the “Cute. Win. Fail.” series. He also apparently acted like an ass at DeFranco’s wedding.

    tobuscus reminds me a lot of fred, though i wasnt really into that guy when he was at his prime. but both had a large youtube following, generally kids, both features in a movie or show that was aimed at kids, and both kind of just fell off as the internet progressed into other genres of entertainment. ill always love tobuscus for the minecraft videos and the songs and the funny animations that felt like were one of the reasons i made it through school with as little friends as i had. i think that every good thing comes to an end, whether the allegations were ruled false or not his career was sooner or later going to come to an end surely. it feels like it was such a lifetime ago as i now work a big job in construction and can hardly imagine myself watching content like that, despite that no matter what he does now for a living or where he's at now, he's part of the reason im where i am with the memories that i have.

    I very much remember out of nowhere, a slow down of postings from Tobuscus. So when I slowly grew up and was forced to watch others. My tastes changed. But coming back to it now and seeing all of what happened durin that time is heartbreaking. Seeing a damn near Mr. Rodgers type of person into a predator. I hope the allegations are false, and that he’s able to do great things with his life

  • @SleepParty30
    @SleepParty30 Рік тому +15

    Whether his allegations are true or not, it's still always weird how the accusers always speak up when the alleged abuser is rising successfully. I've seen many content creators fall this way. They rise, and when things are looking good for the future, boom, sudden allegations out of the blue. Like, why do they always wait? Is it some sort of revenge thing? Weird as shit. I'm the type of guy that hates wasting time. If I was abused or mistreated in some way, you bet your mother fucking ass I ain't waiting months or years to speak up.
