I fully agree with you about the WAY Gerard sings these choruses, it makes them so powerful and memorable. His tone, the power and volume behind the vocals, the slight inflections and sorta voice cracks that are there to give them just that much more emotional impact. They're just so good. 2nding others' recommendations for both "Ghost of You" and "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" as well.
I believe this song is about the lead singer Gerard's grandmother, Helen, that passed away while the band was on tour, which was cause for huge regret in his life. The song has been in my top playlists since 2006
Yes. It is about Gerard and Mikey's grandmother. She was very supportive of them forming the band and even bought them their first van to tour in. She became ill while the band was taking off and on a worldwide tour. When she died, Gerard felt guilty for missing the final year of her life and wrote this song from that anger. She was also a dancer and the girl dancing down the aisle is supposedly recreating a dance performed by Helen when she was young. I always looked at it as her dancing into the afterlife. Finally free of her burdens of age and Illness.
Their choruses are amazing and so are the choruses from Bayside, Coheed and Cambria (pls dont react to welcome home.... they have so much better music 😅), The Dear Hunter and Streetlight Manifesto ❤ Btw not "deer hunter".... they stole the name of the great band _The Dear Hunter_ who are phenominal and have a profound catalog of nonstop jems..😅 the other band sadly gets mistaken for them too often and they have basically no good music

I recommend their song I'm Not Okay (I Promise). 😊
It's from the same album as Helena and has a music video as well.
Literally the song that turned me from listening to poppy preteen safe music to listening to emo and rock music. lol
The end bit always wells me with a tear Or two. Its an honest heartfelt song.
I love MCR .. I love Gerard Way’s vocals!! Check out MCR performing live We Will Rock You featuring Queen’s Brian May!
