    Their grandmother was actually a dancer. She taught them how to dance, sing and paint when they were kids. So it's almost like her last dance.

    The dancing part, I believe to be visual poeticism. At that part everyone in the church has their eyes closed. With their eyes closed, she lives again for a moment in memories and imagination. But when you open your eyes again, reality smacks you right back in the face like "oh yeah she's gone now," and it's almost like losing her all over again on a smaller scale.

    i've always felt like the woman dancing in the video symbolizes something akin to doing one final performance before being sent off. maybe even a memory that everyone sees her as. she tries to interact with people yet cant, only hovering her hand over someone's head.-- her grabbing the camera feels like she's so elated in her performance that she doesnt wanna let go, 'keep your eyes on me and only me, my time is running out and i want you to just look at me'
    it's always a mesmerizingly melancholic moment for me and it never gets old.

    I always thought Helena dancing is her spirit trying to connect to the people there, her presence being felt (her hand moving over the one lady's head but not touching her) w/ the lyrics "can you hear me, are you near me", and then having to go when the casket is closed and sent off to burial.

  • @nocturna76
    @nocturna76 3 роки тому +4

    when i heard this was about his grandma i thought that was rather strange, considering some of the lyrics, but then gerard elaborated, saying that it was actually a letter to himself, expressing his upset at himself over the fact that he was on tour when she died & he never got a chance to say a proper goodbye to her
    but on a happier note, i was an mcr fan from the second i first saw this vid & here i am, 15 yrs later, watching ppl react to it for the 1st time, & i love every minute of it, makes me wanna go back & listen to all their songs all over again, so ty for these!

    This is my favorite song from MCR! I don’t know if anyone mentioned in the comments that 9/11 inspired the band to form. Knowing that, the lyrics take on a whole new meaning for me.
    “We'll carry on, we'll carry on
    And though you're dead and gone, believe me
    Your memory will carry on
    We'll carry on
    And in my heart, I can't contain it
    The anthem 🇺🇸won't explain it
    A world that sends you reeling
    From decimated dreams
    Your misery and hate will kill us all
    So paint it black and take it back
    Let's shout it loud and clear
    Defiant to the end, we hear the call”
    So much heart and inspiration in this song!
    💗💗💗

    When she gets up and starts dances is at the time they close their eyes to pray, and this part of the song is him talking to her. Little connection to Black Parade (even though this song came before) but the lyric in Black a Parade when he says “I get the feeling she’s watching over me” the she is most likely his grandma. So I’m this part of the song he’s talking to her

    I always thought he was considering just offing himself and going with her. He's thinking of reuniting with her. Then instead of dancing toward him and embracing him or something she shoves him away. He realizes that isn't what she'd want and she falls back into the casket. Who knows

    Ahh, got it, I'll refrain from giving details about songs in the future. I'm the other way around, I like having a little background first. You're better than I am at the working-out-song-meanings game anyway, no wonder you like it better than I do. Don't worry, you're not being nasty at all. Ha ha, but there was still a surprise when the corpse got up and started dancing, so at least no one mentioned that. I always thought it was her spirit, since no one in the church seems to be able to see her, but I don't know.
    Okay, so no additional details other than anything I've already mentioned but is Band Maid coming soon? I've been cheating on Band Maid with Eskimo Callboy for a while but Band Maid is back in my thoughts tonight.

      @*S Hi S! Mama, are you sure? Mama is so [REDACTED due to Lee's new blackout policy] with the [REDACTED] and that part at the end with [REDACTED]? Oh well, if you say so, I support you. And then maybe some upbeat stuff from Danger Days? I want him to hear all the [REDACTED] in Destroya, that's fun. And then that homage to [REDACTED] in Vampire Money.

    • @dianem8544
      @dianem8544 3 роки тому

      @*S Okay, redacted joke is now over, and all I have to say is duuude, Band Maid. I don't even have a song recommendation for them because they're all good.

      @*S I get what you mean about Mama, it's quite a vibe, for sure. [redacted]
      No, I get you about new stuff that everyone's going crazy over. I think everyone's that way a little, you don't have to be a hipster to feel like that. But they're not like Baby Metal, some differences are: they play their own instruments and they're straight-up rock. (I hope that's not too much info for Lee! Lee, Band Maid is a band. SORRY FOR TMI.) (S, when am I going to stop teasing Lee about this? Months? Years? No one knows.)

      @*S I didn't think he was talking to me but I did info-overload him for sure the first time I ever commented at him. But I LIKE that he bottom-lined it because it's helpful info. I like him and I don't want to inadvertently piss off someone I like. Not when it can all be out in the open and I can just tease him to death instead. That's way more fun.

    Dude you'd never have know that it was about his nan lets be real. Nobody has ever figured it out without help from the comments. A little bit of knowledge about the track going in isn't necessarily a bad thing because I've noticed that sometimes people spend so much time trying to figure out what the song is about that they don't catch all the musical talent. Also I've seen so many reactors going into a song blind that they just get confused about the song and because they're so confused they don't catch the real meaning and sometimes even give a bad review because they weren't informed in the first place. Just something to consider.

    • @sezzac155
      @sezzac155 3 роки тому +1

      Can't speak for others or for him, since i don't do reviews/reactions and iv'e just recently stumbled on his channel but I understand where he is coming from in not wanting to be told about the background of a song. For me, when I hear a song for the first time I don't want to know anything about the song because i want to form my own opinion and own interpretation of it. Sort of like how you wouldn't want a new movie to be spoiled beforehand. Later i might go and find out what the lyrics are and a bit of background, but the first listen is important to me and usually becomes a really high replay factor as I try and work out the meaning.
      Assuming that you are an MCR fan too, to give you an example, I must have listened to 'Vampires will never hurt you' half a dozen times at least before something unlocked in my mind and I realised that it wasn't just about vampires and actually had some social commentary behind it. That process of figuring it on my own and the social commentary made the song more important and more enjoyable to me.

    • @dwaynediamond6431
      @dwaynediamond6431 3 роки тому +1

      @*S I see your point as well. I also didn't know this song was about his grandmother until recently. I actually learned it from another reactor who briefly researches each song before reacting to have an idea of the songs subject (to each their own). The song isn't about his grandmother per say but actually how Gerald wasn't there for his grandmother in the last year of her life. He feels really bad for that and you can see it in the video with all the emotion in his face.

    • @dwaynediamond6431
      @dwaynediamond6431 3 роки тому +1

      @*S That's fair. I personally wouldn't ruin the reactions for anyone by telling them what the song is about even though I know a lot of people do. I guess what frustrates me is when reactors "write off" a song because they drew the wrong conclusion where as if they had an idea of the subject matter going into it, or the context it's used in, then they'd have a different opinion.

  • @Pilutta100
    @Pilutta100 3 роки тому +2

    That was actually really shitty, telling a reactor what the song is about. Hmm, so I hope fandom never does do that again, if we want reactions to MCR is it kinda important we dont tell, sigh.

    • @infin8reactions
      @infin8reactions  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah I like to get my own interpretation out of the song and see how close I was, once you know, you can reference it all to whatever you was told lol
