    Excellent tutorial. And not only applicable to that exact plane.
    You guys are really the fountain of knowledge when it comes to free flight. 😊

    Great tutorial Josh! I would point out that the basic trimming technique in this more or less applies to all flavours of fixed wing flying, so that anyone can get something from this, if they're starting out in model flying. Nice one Family Finn! ⭐👍

      You're absolutely correct. Thank you!

    This is excellent information for beginners as well as those who might have forgotten a few things along the way. The relationship and interaction of the Center of Lift vs. the Center of Gravity is a crucial matter that any modeler ought to be aware of. Perhaps a little more about this is warranted. Anyone who may not be familiar with this relationship ought to seek further information about it on line.

      I'm working on enhancing our curriculum to include more information on this. It's been a ton of work.

      @@joshuawfinn I realise that. You're doing such good job all around. I'm a big fan.

    That's pretty cool that TSA is still going on I did it in high school before it was rubber band-powered rog what I was doing it it was busted with gliders the year after I graduated they switched to doing rubber band power ROG I went back to my high school for a few years to help out the future teams
    We were hitting 7 or 8 minute flight times we were taking those really big willows propellers and shaving them down until they were paper thin :-)

      Yeah the old TSA rules allowed stunning levels of performance. They've gotten smaller now and so the peak times are under 4 minutes.

    Beautiful tutorial just one question how do you wind your motors so much but keep such little torque?

    This is an excellent tutorial! What kind of times are possible with this year's rules in a ceiling height of 31 feet with beams at 27 feet? I think that's the national compititon's ceiling height. I'm really missing all of the input on Hip Pocket this year.

      In theory, 3 minutes if you tune everything right.

    How do you get access to such indoor flying spaces?

    Does anybody know what material is used for those wings? I'm attempting to build a glider similar to this.

      I use thin mylar covering, but for years I used the bags in the produce department at a grocery store.

    • @joshuawfinn
      @joshuawfinn  25 днів тому

      It's produce/veggie bags. You can also purchase 1.4um mylar either from by website or indoorffsupply.com

      Thank you! The planes specifically in this video are for the US-based Technology Student Association competition for high school students. It is very popular but only open to high school students.
