    hello! i just had a question about trimming the stinger. how do i make it go slower and in smaller circles because currently it goes pretty fast in a wide circle which makes it hit obstacles?

      On our B model tilting/rotating the stab and bending the balsa stab tips have giver us a 20 to 25 foot diameter flight. Ours climbs fast, and takes more than twice the time coming down. The descent is great! But we only use half the 1300 winds or less. We are trying to get it to climb more slowly and use up the turns. We are flying 1:30 minutes to a 20 foot ceiling. Some Retro RC planes are getting more than 2:30 minutes in the same conditions. It climbs more slowly, but is similar in descent. We are going to try 1.5 oz. motors as our plane is 8.6 oz.

    Hi can you please make a detailed trimming video for the division C Stinger?

    Would meguiars quik interior detailer cleaner work as a lubricant replacement, as I have it lying around and it seems similar to armor-all and son of a gun

      Check the ingredients and verify that it doesn't have any petroleum or oil products in it. It's possible it's ok but I don't know.

      I'd put a small piece of rubber in the stuff for 24 hours and then wipe it off and stretch the rubber to check for deterioration. Also verify that it hasn't made the rubber swell because we had that issue with a "silicone" lubricant that turned our to be some sort of solvent.

    Hi, I had a question about, when cracking the wing joint, is there a way to control it/ensure than the film does not rip.

    • @joshuawfinn
      @joshuawfinn  Рік тому

      Punch your fingernail into the wood on the side you want to bend toward, hold as close to the desired break as possible on both sides of it.

    Hi, I have 2 questions about 2 different types of planes.
    1. Our Senior flyer keeps flying for under 30 seconds, and every time, it stays at 5-6 feet high for most of the flight time and it slowly circles back down and touches the ground. It never increases in altitude. Is there a way to fix that?
    2. Our Stinger plane's propeller keeps hitting out front wing, is there a way to fix that? It causes the plane to dive down.

    How many turns would you recommend as the minimum for a 1/16th inch rubber motor before the plane will lift?

    • @joshuawfinn
      @joshuawfinn  7 місяців тому +1

      Minimum 800 turns to establish a climb. Properly lubricated and fully wound it'll take north of 2600 turns.

    Thanks for trying to slow him down and explain better or maybe I should say state things that are just second nature to y’all. I am watching your videos because I don’t know. Maybe it says in the kit that it has to have 800 plus winds to climb, I don’t know. He needs to think of us brand new to the sport and considering buying from y’all.
    I have found the videos very informative for the most part though. Thank you both for your time in producing them.

    The Science Olympiad Flight rules this year say that “Teams may bring up to 2 aircraft.” Does that mean that we are limited to 2, or can we still bring more?

    • @joshuawfinn
      @joshuawfinn  7 місяців тому +1

      You can bring as many as you like, but you can only check in two for your official flights. I advise teams to have at least 4 planes ready to go.

      Requiring a box has been good, forces kids to store the models safely and provides an interesting design problem, but the one box per plane rule has become very annoying.

    Hi great informative video. When you add clay to the propeller for balancing, what are you looking for again? Was it to turn more smoothly?
    Also I understand because one side of the wing is higher than the other, the airplane will turn to that higher wing side? Thanks!
