      I don't know what ages you're teaching but the good thing about BJU Press Heritage Studies, grade 3, is it's a one-semester course so you'd have the second semester to do something else. Grades 4 and beyond are meant to take the entire year but you could definitely spread it out and fit other things in on alternate days.

    @marybeth1583 4 роки тому +1

    Oooh... can you do a longer flip through of the handwriting program? I’ve been trying to find sample pages for that book online, and there’s not many out there! By the way, TGATB grammar and geography cards that are sold with the upper LA levels are FANTASTIC for learning states. My 5th and 3rd grader had a blast using them this year. After we learned all the states, I gave them a magnetic US puzzle (made by Learning Resources, I think) and let them “construct” the US on our white board. It was a blast!

    We love BJU, we'll be starting English and Math 4 in the summer. I find the teacher guides so helpful, especially the cd-rom and that the chapters alternates. Not super wordy and my kiddo can work independently. I also purchased some Evan Moor books on Amazon, then saw on their actual website they have free downloads and you can purchase their books to download. We have yet to try BJU science, wanted to finish up what we already had. Would you say there were plenty of experiments to do? Thanks for another great video!!!!

    I know so little about BJU, could you do a video on how the history distance learning works? I’ve been curious but every time I research BJU I get overwhelmed and it seems like too many parts and I give up 😂 and I buy curriculum just to look at it! I let my kids try it out and they can choose. So far TGTB wins on all subjects. 😃

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  4 роки тому +1

      It does seem like a lot of parts in the beginning but once you get it organized, it really isn't bad at all. get a video lesson guide that tells you what your kids are watching/doing each day. They have their student workbook and textbook and you will have a packet of "handouts" that are things not included in their workbook that their online teacher might tell them to reference. Other than that, everything is online, even the gradebook.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks so much! Not "too much" and some of the times that religion is referenced is in the teacher's manual and you could skip that part if you wanted to. Other times the student workbook will have sentences that are about Biblical truths but not every lesson.

    Hi Becky! I just saw this video- I was wondering how you like the Handwriting program now that you are well into your school year? I was thinking of trying this for my two oldest for next year (they will be 4th and 8th- and they were not taught cursive in public school- first year homeschooling). This year we used TGTB level 3 handwriting which is ok but I think they need more practice. We are a secular home school so can you tell me how much Biblical references there was? Appreciate these videos so much!

    I love homeschool curriculum videos! I remember you used Jady A geography print out that you got from Teachers Pay Teachers and I was wondering how that worked for your daughters to memorize States? I just bought it for my daughter and my son and I just have to laminate everything. Quick question about the history, is that US. history or is it basically telling about people from the church in history? The Catholic curriculum we currently use for history teaches a bit about history depending on the grade level but it's basically people in the church or from the church like saints that they are teaching about and how they relate to history. I'm looking for more of a traditional US history.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  4 роки тому +2

      I did buy Jady A's program but ended up not using it because she only teachers that there are 4 regions of the U.S. and I like to teach that there are 5. That's why I purchased the program that I did for this year because she teachers that there are 5. As for the BJU Press history, it does have some Biblical truths in it but it's definitely a traditional U.S. history curriculum.

    Hi! I love your curriculum videos. I see you have BJU English 4 for your 5th grader. Do you plan to keep just going to each new level after you finish the current one, or do you plan to "catch up" sometime? I have my 2 boys, grades 4 and 7, in BJU English 3 and 6 this year because we've been kind of relaxed about grammar and writing the last few years. Does it matter to have them a grade level below?

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  4 роки тому +2

      Hi! I'm so glad you like my curriculum videos! My plan is to just keep doing what we're doing and not trying to "catch up." What's most important is that my daughter is learning and not so much the number written on a book. Plus, the good thing about BJU's English that I've noticed so far is that they cycle through the same material before adding more concepts or making previously-taught concepts more difficult, if that makes sense.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  4 роки тому

      For Heritage Studies, we are backpedaling a bit from "getting behind" with The Good and the Beautiful's history curriculum. For English, it's just because we take our time and don't stress about finishing a book in a year so that's why we're a level "behind." The good thing is, with BJU's English, English 4 and English 5 cover pretty much the same material, just a bit more in-depth.
