Current homeschoolers. I added up today how much I spent on curriculum for next year...give or take about $150. I buy used, peice things together, find free materials and finishing up things from last year. It's really budget friendly if you work at it.
I homeschool my four kids. My oldest just graduated high school so now I’m homeschooling three kids grades 5, 8, and 9. We have homeschooled the entire time. Thank you for the video!

You will love it ! I pulled my kids out a few years ago and it was the best thing I ever did !! 😄 There are a ton of really great digital online programs that are very cheap - Acellus Outschool is only 25 a month for 6 classes and they are awesome ! Adventure Learning is also lots of fun , Time 4 Learning is lots of fun , Math Antics , Brain Pop , Kahn is just okay ... There are sooo many choices now - you will love it ! This will be one of the happiest times in your life and you will wonder why you didn't do it long ago . Take care and have fun 🌼
Thank you! What I need is a schedule. What subjects. amount of time, how many times a week. Getting started, getting organized.
@@SuperTopher01 go easy and give yourself grace. Schedule is not important. Do it when you can and when you want to. Times dont matter. Again do what you can when you can. The first few weeks are the hardest. You'll put expectations on you and your daughter that you probably wont meet and you'll be disappointed. Keep your head up, reevaluate what you're doing, adjust and start again next week.

These workbooks are fantastic and very good price! I have tried because of your recommendation the reading comprehension series. We loved it and will continue to grade 4-5 in 2020-2021. I’m going to try the phonics and geography workbooks this coming school year. Thank you so much for your video content.

I don’t homeschool but always like extra learning for the summer. This fall I’m also going to be prepared with extra learning since we’re still not sure what school will look like. The district is trying to figure it out now. Will it be everyday but with masks and social distancing ( can’t do that it a class with 26-28 kids) every other day so they can split the class size in half with the other day elearning or elearning. If they’re choose to have them go everyday in a packed classroom my daughter will not be going back and will just be elearning. If it’s the same as in the spring then she’ll need much more! My daughter is also in 5th grade but is in the gifted program so will be doing 6th grade math and reading. Even though the gifted reading is a joke.
We started off with Easy Peasy for a few months because you can do it for free online. In our 4th year homeschooling, it took us awhile to figure out what would work for us. I look for used/free first and then brand new. I overcomplicated at first as well, I just panicked thinking I needed all these things I would come across. These are fantastic recommendations. We have several Evan Moor and currently they have the free e-book Daily Fundamentals for several grades on their website. They also have a 30% sale I believe.
Yes, I made everything complicated in the beginning, too! Evan Moor does PDF sales several times a year! I do that sometimes but I often wonder if it's cheaper to buy it full-price or buy the PDF on sale but still have to print it. I think it probably comes out about even.

Kumon books and Spectrum books seem to cover all the bases of a complete curriculum without being ridiculously expensive. Just know that you may have to directly teach some of the concepts in a bit more detail.

New homeschooler. Planned on doing this a little over a year ago but just now took our kids out of P.S. to officially start this coming school year
We are new to homeschooling and are starting in August! My daughter will be a first grader and we are excited to start this journey! At this time, we may do it for just this coming up year, however, if we find it’s best for us, we will continue! Thank you for doing this video, we love finding good deals!

The good and the beautiful is an excellent curriculum. They have Language arts levels 1-5 for free. We use it and love it and it’s very affordable as well.

2nd year homeschooling here. We started last year by choice at the beginning. I was so happy we started when we did instead of being thrawted into by non-choice. We buy used curriculum. My biggest saving thing is, we bought Abeka spelling and vocab last year. It has 35 words per week. My daughter just couldn't do it, so I split each week into thirds. Stretched it out the entire year and we will spend this year finishing the 2nd half. So 2 years for next to nothing.
That's a great way to split it up and make your money go farther!

Would you use the Spectrum word study and phonics and the Evan Moor Word a day at the same time?
Yes because they're different things. "Word Study and Phonics" teaches phonics, blends, digraphs, etc. while Evan Moor "Word a Day" is strictly vocabulary.
