- In this video, we compare the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max to see which one is the best camera for content creators, especially for talking head and vlogging. We'll look at the two cameras in different, real-world scenarios, and compare their performance. We'll also compare them to see which one is the best choice for you!
COMPARISON DETAILS
✅ Audio from the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 comes from the DJI Mic 2
✅ Audio from the iPhone 15 Pro Max comes from the internal mics
✅ All original audio, with only volume levels adjusted
✅ No color grading in the comparison shots at all
At the end, there's a final comparison between the two.
Personally, I think the DJI Pocket 3 is an insanely, cinematic camera. It's likely the best camera for content creators right now, and in the foreseeable future.
But what do you think?

I have both. They complement each other. One-the iphone is always in your pocket. The Pocket 3 is always in my small bag, less obtrusive, and much better in low light.👍🏾
That's exactly how I roll too Kevin! They're amazing and I use them both, daily, in different situations. Love them! :)
Great comparison. The low light performace and stability on the DJI are insanely good.
Thank you so much! Low light is incredibly underrated indeed. There's even a low light mode for horizontal shots which I didn't use in the video!
Really needed this video! Thank you!!
You're so welcome, glad it was useful for you!
Thanks for the great video 😊
I’m a beginner creator and I’m currently having an I phone 13 plus pro (might update to the 16 plus pro later this year) and a go pro hero 10. So I was actually only looking for a decent mic and thought of getting the DJI wireless mic 2 system.
However after coming across the Osmo Pocket 3 I’m wondering if it would be worth buying it with the creator combo. It would be 300 dollars more expensive than the mic system alone. Obviously the mic system comes with 2 mics a charging case and a receiver which allows to use it on several devices.
Would it be worth to get the Osmo pocket 3 with my current set up and is a bluetooth mic reliable enough to use it also later with an I phone or any other devices?
Or would it make more sense to save the money, get the dji mic 2 set with 2 mics, charging box and receiver?
Hi Nikki! I'm so happy that you found value in my video!
To answer your questions: The Pocket 3 is an amazing camera, especially in the creator combo. I've bought a second one now for my wife, because she's not extremely technical and she loves using my Pocket 3 - so now she has her own.
When using the DJI Mic 2 transmitter with the Pocket 3, it just auto connects. You just turn on the mic and within 2 seconds, the Pocket 3 will say "Mic connected" and that's it. It's honestly that simple and "just works" in the way you'd expect.
When it comes to using the Mic in other ways, that's... less good, hah. I don't know what trickery the Pocket 3 uses to make the Mic sound good, but when you connect it to your phone, two things happen:
1) First of all, you need a third-party camera app (like the free Blackmagic app) to specifically select the DJI Mic 2 as mic, as if you just record in the native camera app, the iPhone (at least, not sure on Android) will ignore the mic; and
2) The Mic will honestly sound kinda shit 😂 You really do need the receiver if you want to use it for good quality audio with anything other than the Pocket 3.
BUT, there's a solution.
You can use the Mic 2 to record INTERNALLY (into the integrated memory) and then connect it to your Mac/PC via USB-C. The Mic will show up like a USB stick, and there are going to be MP3 or WAV files on it which you can then synchronize with the sound from the iPhone. This does require a few clicks, subject to the editing software you use, but it does work.
If it is super important to you to use it with something other than your Pocket 3, and you don't want to sync the audio while editing, then I'd recommend getting the dedicated DJI Mic. I'd actually go for the first version over the second version, it's cheaper, there are a lot used ones on the market now, and the DJI Mic 2 has (almost) no new useful features (especially the bluetooth and noise cancellation is rather useless).
Hope this helps!
@TechWandererYT thanks a lot for the detailed answer. This really helps me 🙏 Looking forward to more great videos from you 😀
Excellent review video, especially outlining the strengths of both cameras at the end.
Thank you so much! :)
Excellent ... All I needed to know in one video
I feel like the over exposure is much easier to correct and the additional facial tracking is so much better. Not to mention the frames on the pocket 3 just feels smoother!!
Totally agree! Especially in low light the Pocket 3 will blow the iPhone completely out of the water man. And to compensate for the overexposure, I'm just setting exposure to "-0.3 ev" and this totally fixes it. I've probably spent around 50 hours+ with this camera already. Using it daily, for hours. Much more content to come!
Nice video, it's really impressive to see how pocket 3 shines in low-light situations. You have to deal with the annoying flicker and lens glare on the iPhone 15😑
Yessss APPLE PLEASSSEEEE fix that lens glare already. No other phone gets it like the iPhone does lmao. 🤣 But yeah, even if they do that, the Pocket 3 kills the iPhone in low-light. I love it!
Such a good video, I want to get a folding phone and a portable camera, so this could be a solution for me. Its just the zoom that I would miss I feel. What are the zoom capabilities like on the Osmo Pocket?
Thank you so much for watching the video! The zoom capabilities on the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 are pretty non-existent It allows you to zoom in a little bit, but that's a digital zoom I'm afraid.
thanks for a great comparison! i really enjoyed this video and the footage! going to have to get the dji osmo now
Thank you so much! I got two of these by now, hah. You won't regret it!
@TechWandererYT wow 2, that's amazing! I like the portability of action cameras for video compared to using a mirrorless so this seems to be a great fit
@@RWAquariumPagesYes! This is a fantastic camera for especially b-roll, but even some a-roll to be honest!
This comparison is exactly what I was looking for
Happy it could help you! :)
Dubai Marina resident here, and can i just say i love the shots you shot so much! Really captures the beauty of the Marina!
Thank you Alex!! I was hoping some people from Dubai will see this hahaha
@@TechWandererYT as soon as i saw the thumbnail i knew it was Dubai and i had to watch it! Great video!!
thanks your video is very accurate and direct exactly what i needed =)
I have ipad pro and sony zv e10 with sigma 16mm f1.4 lense, both devices are enough for microstock footage. However for vlogging, I need portability for being more productive vlogging everywhere and everytime, which one should I choose? Pocket 3 or iphone 15 pro? or maybe (pocket 3 + iphone 13) or iphone 15 pro?
Really tough call. I think if an easy workflow is important to you, then the Pocket 3 is great. The iPhone 15 Pro has to work a little bit harder, but can also get some AMAZING quality with Apple ProRes Log. It does take a few extra steps and even a bit of equipment to do as well though. Pocket 3 is definitely easier to use!
@@TechWandererYT how about for instant uploading in social media, i mean like tiktok video, ig reels, or Live maybe.
For all of this I’d actually say the iPhone is better in a single workflow. The quality on the Pocket 3 will be better, but it will require more steps for sure
Can u share the link where we can buy as in emac and sharafdg it is still showing pre order
I imported it from Amazon.com from the US, which I will not recommend because of shipping and import duties. But last time I checked, Virgin had them (in store, not online).
Awesome review! Really summed it all
Thank you for watching and leaving such a positive comment! I appreciate your support.
DJI Pocket is much better in low-light can't say, seems like both not usable footage at low light. Anyway I prefer iPhone with dji osmo 6 and maybe for additional dji action 3
Great video , Low light is definitely its most important feature.
Thank you so much for watching Nathan!
Excellent video. Thank you.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for the support!
Thank you for the video . I was in dilemma whether to buy iphone just for the camera, since i use S22 ultra its a great phone i dont like the interface of iphone. Finally i can decide what to buy 😊
Awww that’s so nice of you to say! I hope you enjoy the device you decided to go for. If it’s the Pocket 3, I’m sure you gonna love it!
Is cinematic kind of video can be taken through DJI osmo pocket 3 like iPhone??
Even more cinematic I'd argue :)
Front camera of iPhone wins. You can see the clouds behind you on the iPhone not on the other camera.
HDR on the iPhone is better, but this was a bad location to test. Nobody in their sane mind film against the light 😬
CAN I DEPEND ON OSMO INSTED OF MY IPHONE 13 PROMAX IN TICKTOK VIDEO AND INSTA SHORTS?
I record videos on this every day. Even Instagram stories. If you want to use it for social media, I'd absolutely recommend it, for the simple reason that front/selfie cameras (irrelevant which phones, Android and iPhone, unless you have a folding phone) are REALLY bad. But on the Pocket 3, you can rotate the gimbal and then use the screen to record yourself. So you record on at least as good quality as the back quality of the iPhone, but usually even a bit better.
If I was you, I'd go into a local store that has it and test it there in person to see how you like it!
@@TechWandererYT thanks for responding, but im lazy to productive video , so i want fast and high quality to make video for youtube shorts and another platform
Then I'd say the Pocket 3 would be an amazing option for you! :) But so is the iPhone!

Where are you filming this at?? This city looks BEAUTIFUL
Hi Chris 👋🏻 That’s Dubai 🇦🇪
@@TechWandererYT bro that is beautiful, thank you!
Thanks, been living here for a few years now. It's honestly a great place to be.
@@TechWandererYT you’re welcome bro,you did a great review. Was there a huge challenge getting accustomed culturally over there or is that area pretty diverse?
Dubai specifically is super westernized. You honestly wouldn't know the difference to any big European or U.S. city. Except that there are no taxes, the weather is better, and you got tons of beaches hah. Been here 3 years and loving it!
Hello,
Can we charge dji pocket 3 with gopro volta ??
I don't have a Volta anymore, but I'm pretty sure that the USB-C port on it should charge it yes.
I need one!
I think everyone needs one. 🤗 I don't say this lightly, as I'm somewhat of an anti-FOMO tech guy. BUT this one is truly amazing!
There is something on the Hue, color, temperature color, on the iPhone thats break my heart.... and need to admit the osmo is better.
Which one is good for traveling videos ?
Both! I use both a ton haha. If you already have an iPhone, I'd probably stick to that. But the Pocket 3 is... generally better. Especially with the external Mic.
P3是VLOG的最好搭档!非常轻便和方便。你值得拥有!
Yess, for vlogging and travel it is AMAZING! Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
I was you had at least 2 F stop choices on the pocket. I would buy one now if i could get a nice bokeh.
It does get pretty good bokeh. Obviously not f/2 buuut much better than the iPhone!
@TechWandererYT Take that iPhone users!! Jk, I have to take my shots when I can. Lol
i have osmo pocket 3 and iphone 15 pro max but i dont know how to create a content
Especially in lowlight conditions the DJI pocket 3 beats the Iphone 15 hands down 😮
Agree! The iPhone is nowhere close in low light. In good light, on the 1x back camera, the iPhone can sometimes be better (for HDR), but generally the Pocket 3 still wins. Especially if you count the stabilization, and the motion timelapse etc. Not to mention 4K 120fps. Killer camera! :)
For real videographers dynamic range comes at first. The dynamic range of the dji looks terrible. The color rendering of the iPhone looks better also. Apart from resolution and low light performance. Thanks though for the comparison! Help to see
Hey Joost ✌🏻 I appreciate your feedback! Dynamic range is definitely a crucial factor for videographers, and it's interesting to hear your perspective on the comparison. Different cameras have their strengths and weaknesses, and it's important to find the right balance for your specific needs.
Having said that, the dynamic range on the Pocket 3 is actually quite good. It's nowhere near as good as the artificially improved HDR on the iPhone, of course, but the example in the video was really bad. The worst I've seen, so I'd say this was a user error. I just didn't want to leave it out, to keep the review super authentic.
Plus, it gets even better with HLG/D-Log M, which of course add better dynamic range. But still, nothing compared to the iPhone.
@@TechWandererYT I'm trying to understand this comment. Are you saying that the dynamic range of the iPhone is better than the Pocket 3 even if both are in log? I agree dynamic range and colour malleability of the footage is more important than sharpness (to an extent).
Now do a video of them in their Log profile.
It's planned! :) Do you look for anything specifically?
@@TechWandererYT I would love to see a comparison of the best final result you can achieve with editing of the log footage from both (and ProRes in the case of the iPhone), in terms of sharpness, noise level, colour grading flexibility, and dynamic range.
I just wonder if the flexibility that the iPhone's ProRes and log footage offer would outweigh the larger sensor of the Pocket 3 (I know the Pocket 3 has D log M, but I suspect that won't give as much flexibility as Apple's log).
It would also be great if you could share your footage with us so we can play around it with in editing software ourselves.
the iphone dynamic range is way better. it exposes the skies correctly whereas the pocket 3 always blows it out.
That's true. SOOC the iPhone HDR is insane. Even with editing, the iPhone still has better dynamic range, but the overall picture quality suffers. In good lighting, the Pocket 3 wins. So ideally, don't shoot against the sun etc. For that, the iPhone wins hands down.
In general u can control the exposure even in automatic mode. If u underexpose the Pocket 3 u get so much better results that's incredible. It never makes sense to shoot in completely automatic mode on both.
Lol😂
I would say that’s more about the exposure control of the iPhone. I doubt it has better dynamic range. If you bump down the exposure and take advantage of the 10 bit recording in post to boost the shadow exposure I bet you will end up with less noise on the Pocket 3 video.
Is not dynamic range per se, is false dynamic range with HDR
The only thing that makes the osmo better than iphone is just because of its 1 inch sensors...
Well, you know what they say, size does matter! Those 1 inch sensors in the Osmo really pack a punch!
Is that all the information you got from this video and all other videos that have reviewed the DJI Pocket 3?? At the barest minimum try watching this video again and assimilate the information provided
Want your viewers to feel sea sick then use the iphone.
I don’t need it, I don’t need it, I don’t need it🙃
hahaha 😂 I know you gonna get it sooner or later. CALLING IT NOW. 🤣 Sorry for your wallet David!!
So, when did you order? 😂
Hahahaha 🤣
Lol I have the dji pocket 2. I definitely don't need the 3. Definitely not. Definitely not. Definitely not.
Every video I’ve seen, the iPhone just looks soo much better to me regarding colors and dynamic range. Pocket 3 looks so digital but it does have a nice depth blur, detail, and is better in low light. I’ll probably rock both, iPhone for ideal lighting and pocket 3 for dim lighting. I was hoping the pocket 3 would be better than it is considering the 1 inch sensor though.
Agree, but the kicker is to set the EV meter on the Pocket 3 to -0.3 or -0.7 depending on lighting conditions. It will look much better (not as overexposed). For me, the fact that the front camera on the iPhone is so bad and doesn’t have any background blur, makes the pocket 3 so much better.
Overall as a all-one one iPhone wins, but as a camera Osmo wins hands down
Fully agree! The iPhone is the all-rounder pocket camera for most. But for me, the Pocket is has been nothing but amazing in the first two weeks of using it. I'm using it DAILY and I even use the DJI Mic 2 for voiceovers, or to sync it even when I do use my iPhone. I LOVE IT! :)
Well I like my iPhone 15 Pro Max but I consume A LOT of media on it hahaha
I mean you can call it junk, but it's the best phone in the world 🤣 And AR/VR comes nowhere close. You do you though.
lmao, nobody asked your opinion about what phones to use. Maybe let people use what they want to use instead of ing to be better than other people? This smells like insecurity bro. Just let people be lol. And for your information, those glasses are blue light. lol
The osmo blows away the iPhone
That's what I'm saying! I was honestly quite nice to the iPhone. Don't get me wrong, if you use the iPhone 15 Pro Max "to the max" with Apple Log in ProRes etc, they can be quite similar. But the Pocket 3 is much easier to use, even if you do add something like D-Log M etc. There's already so many LUTs and it's so easy to grade! Definitely the better camera between the two!
i farted
OK happy you got that out
@@TechWandererYT onion farts
I prefer no background blur what my eyes see.
Your eyes actually blur everything as well, it's just that by the time you look at what's out of focus, it's sharp. But if you try to see what's in your vision on the left or right while you focus on one thing, you can see things are actually out of focus. I just googled this and it seems that the human eye has an aperture of around f/3.8 to f/11, subject to the eye. Hah, today I learn!
Hah that is so interesting because I think that's one of the best qualities about this. You'd really love a camera shooting at f11 or even higher then where the entire frame is in focus!
@@TechWandererYT God made me different I don’t see blur but interesting what goole scientists say about eyes haha God bless
@@TechWandererYT yeah I know a friend I shoot with thinks the same loves a clear sharp image we make jokes about how cinematographers butcher high end clear footage. We made a short film won 20 awards it’s called zarepath

IPhone is garage
Garage? 🤣 🚗
In many samples, the pocket 3 even with stabilization seems to bob up and down in motion.
That's true, but the iPhone does that too. At least the Pocket continues to bob up and down in low light without micro jitters, which is great!
iphone 15 definitely wins this round imo
I think the iPhone generally wins if you want an all-in-one camera. But if you want something that works around the clock, low light or not, without micro jitters or reflections on the lens, or you want 120 fps in 4K, then the Pocket 3 takes it for sure.
I think that's a personal thing then, right? As a content creator I'm used to carrying around a lot of tech. Including the biggest iPhone 🤣
Iphone or osmo pocket? Qual deles compro? 😆
