I agree the iPhone has incredible quality. My only issue is I use my phone for so many other things throughout the day and when vlogging I prefer to have a standalone camera as it’s just simpler to manage. We use the GoPro 11 mostly because of the versatility but this osmo pocket seems to check every box I have for vlogging. I am buying it and plan to take it to Disneyland next month
Such a great point! I think having a separate device that’s not a phone can be awesome. I think if your budget and bag space allow, the Osmo is so awesome!
plus don't forget the low light performance of the pocket 3. It clearly outperforms the iphone in this regard. The stabilization gets crazy in iPhone under low light conditions.
Have you tried connecting the rode mics to the Osmo? Did it work well? I have rode wireless pros and hope that I can figure out a practical way to shoot with both the osmo and the mics hahaha
I did not try. Because I have the first version of the Rode Wireless Go’s, I have a feeling they will behave different than your Wireless Pros. With the Wireless Pros, they can be plugged directly into an iPhone 15 to work, where the Go’s need an Aux to Usbc TRRS dongle.
Great comparison. I just got the pocket three and I’m loving it. I have the Sony Zve 10 and a 6700. The pocket won’t replace these cameras, but there’s a lot of applications that I’m gonna be using the pocket three lot for. Good stuff. Thanks again.
Be interested to know your Video Settings and Video Editor Export settings on Osmo Pocket 3. Your footage is really sharp compared to other reviews. I find the Osmo Pocket 3 footage a bit 'mushy' compared to Full Frame. Maybe it's just the UA-cam compression on upload.
Totally, it could be the compression from UA-cam for sure. I found when I was in my soft light, both images from the phone and the Osmo, looked really great, but in the shadows and not the best light, really did look mushy. I didn’t change any of the settings on the Osmo, everything was right out of camera. Appreciate the comment!
I use the apple 15 pro 512 GB with insta360 flow with rode wireless pro. I prefer this setup because I have instant access to my videos which means I can upload to social media media super quickly. The iphone 15 is my content creator phone so I don't have the same issues other users have of multi tasking on the device. I belive the image quality of the iPhone in wide angle is enough for my real property tours. One challenge people don't talk about with iPhone is editing videos in Adobe Premier pro on Windows pc takes some tweaks to get an acceptable outcome. I film everything in HDR mode which over exposes the videos on windows versus a Mac. Adobe has a modification users follow that isn't widely known.
Oh interesting! I think I the 15 Pro is super adequate, especially for the general public who don’t see the same things that we see. I didn’t know that about windows computers, super interesting!
That’s a great question, unfortunately during my time borrowing the device, I did not have the opportunity to test this. Perhaps somebody else in the comments is able to help.
Osmo P3 is so much better than iPhone, I even use it for taking pictures, if you know how to grade/edit, you can achieve almost pro results. Few things I would improve on Osmo P3, I would let user lock the gimbal as I don't always want smooth footage, and another thing, it would be nice to adjust focus speed as it can be distracting sometimes. Also, I feel like HLG profile has nicer colors than Dlog M. Also I did't see many talking about sound quality out of osmo, which I think is absolutely amazing. Great comparison BTW, thanks
