Question, if the bottom part was able to slide out the bottom, cant you slide the new one in from the bottom without taking the top apart?
Possibly, but i dont think youll get the loop over the brake lever without removing the barrel end off the outer arm anyway

Sure do, scroll down thru the vids. Its only a limited retension via ine rotation at the braked end. Although re-tensioing both ends is favourable, the single braked end is effective and a safer option
I had to use a ladder and install mine while the awning was still up against the van. Didn’t have the space to pull the awning out.
